Rail transportation is by far the best mode of land transportation for both passengers and freight, when it comes to cost effiency and enviromentality. Well functioning railway network is backbone of any well functioning society and it's very nice to see countries investing on construction of new railways.

In most places it seems that High Speed Rail operates rather differently from heavy duty freight rail, and generally on different tracks. Are we seeing a situation in Etihad Rail where this has been resolved so that rail structures can be shared by these very different users?

Even Cecil Rhodes who envisaged rail connections from Cape Town to Cairo had not thought of bringing in Saudi Arabia and UAE and Kuwait. I am looking forward to being able to travel from London to Cape Town by rail. Of course there are couple of issues to resolve with Gaza and Syria, but lets think big. Go For It!
