450 HP Ford Focus ST Time Attack Car - One Take

  • This 2013 Ford Focus ST has pretty much reached the end of what is possible with a Front-drive platform. It makes 450 horsepower and 400 lb/ft thanks to an extensive list of engine modifications including a built Hollands Performance 2.0L engine with a Garrett GTX 2867R turbo. It has a race-spec roll cage, full suspension, and is as extreme as any front-drive vehicle I've ever tested.
    Check it out on Wheelwell!

      depends on the class, fwd class possibly although older VW and Honda demand respect for their agility, and overall lightness. Personal Opinion far too much power for fwd, can't imagine what the torque steer feels like.

    • @SI0AX
      @SI0AX 5 років тому

      @@sategllib2191You can pretty much do that with any engine. You will need to sleeve the block to get around the open deck design, then just put forged rods and pistons etc, and put the headstuds then a huge turbo with the fuel mods, maybe E85. Pretty much any engine can be made to this power level even if it's a 4 cylinder.

    • @AkiraSieghart
      @AkiraSieghart 7 років тому

      I do have a FoST that will be big turbo within the next few months but I understand what you're saying. My problem is that he's driven three FoST's--the first two were Stage 3 and the third one was a stripped race car at 400 WHP. He drove them and then at the beginning he said he's done with the FoST's...like what? The one in this video was barely a FoST anymore.

    Calling for a modded 1.0L Ecoboost (Fiesta or Focus) with or without a big turbo. USA folks might laugh but they're not uncommon across the pond. Could be a great swap option...

      Clifford Bradford I had one that you could consider “stage 2” only problem is that Cobb, stratisfied, jst, etc don’t have the means to tune them. A lot of the guys across the pond have 2-250whp out of the 1.0 using pumaspeed and they run and sound awesome. I traded mine in for an ST but I still recommend the car. It’s a fun little grocery getter

    I have a stock ST. The tires burn off at the slightest throttle input. This must be insane.

      greenmtnman big turbo cars spool slower and the power is more linear. They actually want to spin closer to redline where the 2867 makes 24 psi instead of 13. I was happy to find this out as autocross is easier with a second gear that is usable!

      Limits of the stock fuel system would be fine. 350whpish, the garret turbos anyways are better built than the factory turbos anyways.

      yup...its flows up to 700 whp. SP63 tried breaking it but the air hose kept popping off when they turned the air pressure WAY up.

    Impressive! Though I'm wondering, at what point do you just go buy an S2000 or other sports car? I love hot hatches, I have a GTI. Not hating, but I can't ever see myself totally stripping my interior, because in the end, I have a lot of extra metal and FWD still. These are just track disadvantages you can't get rid of, right? Am I missing something (I know, I know, "It's his car, so blah, blah." Not a real argument, please spare me that inevitable response.)

      andrew horner I think there's a polite way to ask, so why choose this platform for a build and track car? It's a good question no matter what the car. I'm guessing a lot of builds like this start out as a practical street with mods and then then owners decide they want more. It is pretty fantastic that this can keep up with, say, a Cayman GT4. Troll cars are the best.

    • @andrewhorner1
      @andrewhorner1 7 років тому +1

      I tried to tread super carefully, and I was still impolite haha. I'm hopeless. But yes, exactly, why this platform for a dedicated track car? Again, I have a GTI; I even have done some modification with a Stage 2 tune and bolt ons, and Stage 2 clutch, and some other bits. And maybe when my car is old, if I still have it, I may get a little more hardcore on it. I totally understand the creeping temptation to mod your car, keep things novel. But the ST is pretty new, and he said he started going to town on it within 6 months. Just seems like a limited platform for an all out track car. Perhaps if this is a salvaged car, that may change everything, since that would make it half the price to start with.

      andrew horner the MK7 GTI/FOST put down better numbers than a lot of RWD/AWD cars around a track; with that said there's nothing better than trolling say a GT and the look on their face when you pull on them in a FOST

    • @guthrie1181

      daphenom45 You're right. But no matter what, there will always be some doucher making a comment like this. Having said that, I wish I bought a speed6 for the awd instead of a speed3. But still..
