I don't know why you're all complaining about the guy blinking a lot. Why are you watching him? Look at Matt instead or the road. If it's bothering you, don't bitch about it in the comments. Open another tab and just listen if you're going to be so dramatic about something so small.
+JoshorBrownKid People like to find flaws and bring them up. I was hopped up on two Redbulls and a 5 Hour Energy just to make the 4 hour drive there. Worst mistake I've ever made just to stay awake. And yes, I am Carl. Lol
+14CCarl no worries man, I actually enjoyed it, your nervous ticks were spot on with one of my really good buddies, and he is one of the most hilarious people I know
I like how Carl actually wants to talk about his car and give answers to the questions unlike some people who act like they're being owed something from Matt. Also, I get the blinking thingy too and my dad always calls me out for it. Its just nerves and lack of rest chill out
I may be a cybernetic human that blinks rapidly to process information that I see. Jkjk. I don't really care what people say about me, I am who I am and knowing yourself really helps dealing with people that like to call out imperfections and such. But I just get a nervous tic and sleep deprivation isn't fun at all being hopped up on energy drinks.
its quite sad people get judged these days based on their disabilities... One takes are about the car, nothing else... Nice one take, nice car.... I like his style and the way he done his mods.
+DSM jUhnky Thank you, I don't have a disability. It's just I tend to get nervous pretty easily and lets just say that being up all night being wired on Redbulls and 5 Hour Energy just to make the 4 hour drive wasn't enjoyable at all.
+14CCarl hmm... i dont think redbull and 5hr energy drinks can cause constant/random blinks and twitches as what we all noticed... if that is not a disability, its definitely not normal... thats some type of involuntary movement that cant be controlled. But either way, your car was nice... nice mods.
+DSM jUhnky well put a 5hr energy and redbulls with no sleep, long drive, having someone else drive your car while theres a camera put in your face for tens/hundreds of thousands of people to see. Yeah thatll make you fidigity and nervous. Its not not normal, its completely normal.
i daily a 2014 ST stage 3 and i just always want more power :/ i just want an RS but it cost 2x as much as my car. if i sell my car i could buy an RS but then i cant buy a house lol house > car im sick of renting and throwing my money away. i just want moeee powaaaaa
If only we could have more car channels that bring us new material almost daily! TST rulz, continued success to you guys and thank you for this awesome channel.
supercooled On the podcast multiple times on many different episodes. He has #1 allocation of the Focus RS from the Gallpin Ford dealer. He is planning to lease the RS and when the lease is up he will hopefully beable to get into a gt350
Matt, we spoke before and i second your comment on being a benchmark for big people. I sold my dsm and bought a mazdaspeed 3 because I saw how comfortable you looked in it!
I love it when Matt says "I like being tall and fat...I am a kind of benchmark for...." Then Carl chuckles and twitches while leaning his head forward...I love it...he did it twice...Priceless!!! Come on Matt...265 pounds....almost double my weight (I weigh 143 pounds...LOL)...
Great video once again and what a nice guy. To those making fun of his blinking, please stop being lame, take your judgmental, excessively strong, unsolicited minority complex home with you and keep it out of the car enthusiast community.
I dont know how comfortable I'd be as a passenger with someone driving my ST the way I do lol. but It is the most fun car I've ever driven, STOCK. Responsive, and tons of torque available in literally any situation.
Thank you for these videos, it's nice seeing what other enthusiasts are driving and how they like their car, and more importantly, how they hold up. Also, I like your reviews because you are a bigger guy, it lets me know what I can drive lol.
Nice car buddy! Love the ST albeit I've been watching the RS after watching topgear's take some time ago. Should be interesting to see what happens when it comes to the states… Oh, and matt--no notchback one take? blue balls bro, blue bawlllls.
Have you considered letting the car's owner drive for a small part of the One-Take? It'd be interesting to see how the owner pushes the car, at least for a bit. I'm not sure I've fully thought out that idea though.
The Focus ST is not an American car. The standard Focus was designed by Ford of Europe, and the ST mostly by Team RS, also in Europe. But sure, the US-spec cars are built over there.
+Simon Liu The latest gen of Focus were not designed by Mazda, Ford does not work with them anymore as they are no longer owned by Ford. The latest Focus is mostly a European design.
As an ST driver with "full bolt ons" e30 tune coil overs, you name it I probably have it. I'm very pleased with this video other than the fact that mountune is the most conservative tune you can buy for the ST. Freek tune is definitely where it's at because I'm making 292whp and 371wtq compared to 280 crank hp and 355 tq
+Brandon Cardoso I didn't want to go too crazy with the tuning, but everybody in California ST recommended Randy for me. Eventually when my built motor jar reaches 7k. Carillo pistons, rods, keyed crank and timing chain sprockets, big turbo "still deciding which one to get", Stratified aux fuel system, HKS BOV, SPEC stage 3+ clutch and a Stratified calibration would be in order for Hannah. I want a 450 HP daily driver so badly, but I don't want to sacrifice reliability which is why I'm beefing the internals up.
That's smart though i know Randy writes good tunes and they're very reliable. In fact a lot of the my buddies in Atlanta ST club use him. I also want to go big turbo but im not looking to daily it with that much power. Personally i wanted the gtx2867r kit stratified sells, but i don't have the money for it unfortunately.
I'm sick of hearing about the torque steer on the Mazdaspeed, and I'd like to change your opinion about that for good. Matt, if you're ever in dirty Jersey, I invite you to drive my Mazdaspeed3 and show you what some proper mods/tires and tune can do to this car.
All of them tune for peak horsepower /torque to feel better about their small peens 😉. Stock turbo is capable of making 350TRQ around 3500rpm. Of course it's going to torque steer your ass to the nearest ditch, especially on bitch tires wacky alignment.
I'm running an aggressive alignment ( because RACEKAR, right? lol). If you want a good daily, I'd say - 2 camber square. 0.03 toe. But if your goal is to eliminate torque steer, work with your tuner on a nice, progressive torque curve. A properly setup suspension (not hammered) and nice tires. An RMM is a must.
How did you find the steering feedback? I took a short test drive in a Focus ST, and not sure what I was expecting, but I found it more numb than I had hoped. I would have tried a Fiesta ST, but I have short arms and the shifter was too far forward.
+yitznewton The Fiesta's steering is much more talkative than the Focus's, but I think the Focus steering is at least on par with something like a GTI.
+yitznewton When I test drove both I had the same impression of the Fiesta shifter. The distance I had to reach to shift it completely ruined the driving experience for me on the little "autox" course they had set up at their Ecoboost Challenge event. The Focus had a much better positioning for sure.
+darthnuruodo The Focus shifter position seemed "weird" the first time I sat in it, but I didn't find it problematic. With all the positive buzz around the Fiesta ST, I sat in it at least three times, but it always felt so wrong that I never bothered with a test drive. I always pull telescopic steering wheels out all the way, so I must just have shorter arms than most people. Of course, the Fiesta was designed as an economy hatch, so shifter placement was probably by default anyway...
@thesmokingtire how has the reliability of the ST, and RS been. The focus is on my short list of new vehicles. I'm still leaning towards a speed3 because prices are still high on the focus.
Lovely car and not too Hoonigan. I've a Ford Focus ST Station wagon with Mountune 1st stage, so 275bhp and it is very rapid. No badges on it apart from a yellow ST, so I really enjoy BMW drivers tailgating me while I disappear into the horizon and leave them in the dust. You can almost see their reactions as they try to figure out what just happened. Haha. Was never a badge snob and can actually drive. Great cars. Yes, they do have torque steer even when not in sports mode, but you know what? The classic hot hatches of the 80s had zero driver correction. In the modern era it's one of the few cars where you still get a thrill and have to be switched on.
Totally agree about Focus versus Fiesta; whichever one you would prefer without the performance is the one you'll prefer with performance. (The Focus in the case of my wife and I who have two "Foci".
Hmm.. I too am 6'3" and about 270lbs.. I cant say it's the most comfortable of seats, but I have driven the ST3 with the full leather recaros.. that seat can use a few inches in width.. whoo.. juuuuuuust fit. Still surprises me that 'regular' people can still sit behind me, tho snugly, when I have my seat in my 'gangsta lean' recline.. Something about the electronics makes the car feel unstable when 'flinging' corners on really twisty turny roads. more than once I thought I was gonna smash into the jersey barrier and felt unstable when driving hard against "an adversary" on those curvy roads in the woods.. again.. swear I was gonna careen and go off into the trees.. and I'm an otherwise awesome driver...lol.. .. I had to turn off the electronic aides to actually feel safer, more stable and more in control when driving like a nut. What's up with that? The audio unit is lower middle of the road, my old VW with my Monsoon system (2002 passat) blows this one out the water.. but it's good enough. I suppose. No reall cubbies to stash ones weed or pistola.. and what's the deal with no dead pedal? I've never driven a car without a dead pedal until I drove this one! I think that silver is the best color out there for this car.. classy and subdued.
+Homicidium No he fucking doesn't! -_- Look at the comments where people have said he has a "disability". he answered he just gets easily stressed and had not slept well...
Interesting that Matt ordered the Focus RS. Did not know they were taking orders yet. Isn't that car expected to put down like 350 HP? If so the Focus RS is going to be a BEAST! :D
i have a 2014 fiesta st id like you to drive for this channel. big sleeper with mild modification. i live in san diego but id be willing to make a drive for you to drive it! how do i contact you??
"I like being fat". lol. I wouldn't say you're fat Matt but you are a big dude. I've had my 2015 Focus ST for a few months now and I really like this car...not as strong obviously as my Coyote but I hate to say, 'funner'. No mods yet but thinking about the Mountune MP275 and then maybe a bigger turbo later on. Interesting dialogue about the GTI and I actually considered one but the ST won out, mainly due to handling characteristics and me not being fond of the GTI interior. Some people accuse the Focus ST as being juvenile in comparison and I don't agree: The GTI is bland to to me and a bit' too teutonic for my taste... lacking the 'personality' of the ST. I would have liked the bigger turbo out of the box with the GTI but either way, I'd be replacing the turbo with either car so that was ultimately a mute point. Always enjoy your reviews Matt so keep it up!
Hey Matt you are awesome. I like that you review stuff that is relatively affordable and you review all types of cars. by the way I am 18 and drive a 2000 nissan maxima the beat up everyday. i dont see many maximas built and raced as much as other cars for obvious reasons but that would be cool to see. stay awesome Thesmokingtire
With all the people modifying focus Sts, no one is talking about "" ported & polished of the throttle body , when they know that means more power to the wheels.....
Any thoughts on the 2015 st? Everywhere I look this car gets great reviews. I'm not a gear head but I'd like a daily driver that I can have some fun with when I want, and eventually but some simple mods like nothing more than a grand. Who's got some input?
Being a Ford a guy I feel like if I am not able to afford a GT350 I am a keep my 2011 5.0 brembo and purschase myself a spanking brand new Focus RS and take the kids to school in it. Once I have them of course. The ST might be a nice car but I have a thing against fwd cars. I mean they can be fun but there is nothing like a rwd car. The reason I am saying this is because I heard the RS might have a drift mode so I am thinking the RS might be able to send most of its power to its rear wheels.
+TheSmokingTire It's a focus, so it counts! haha. Which car did you enjoy more, in terms of pure performance. Not taking into account interior amenities, etc.
So the Focus is a slightly more mature Fiesta: the Focus is at a different stage in life than little brother Fiesta, a bit more refined, a bit less twitchy, with more space but once get start pushing it you can definitely tell they are related.
What a nice guy! Carl's been the best to star on One Take so far :)
hello again lol
+Talon276 what the fuck?
+Jamie Dawson Ahahah omg. STOP STALKING ME!!!!!!!
+Talon276 Second that!
fucking pussies, protect everyone like there infants!

+JoshorBrownKid I couldn't fucking agree more.
+14CCarl cool car man!
I watched this specifically to see how Matt fits in this car, as I am big and fat as well. Thank you Matt
Much respect to large guys that are able to comfortably fit into these cars
I like how Carl actually wants to talk about his car and give answers to the questions unlike some people who act like they're being owed something from Matt. Also, I get the blinking thingy too and my dad always calls me out for it. Its just nerves and lack of rest chill out
+Kevin O'Byrne Thank you! :)
14CCarl Yeah its annoying how people pick up on it so quickly
I may be a cybernetic human that blinks rapidly to process information that I see. Jkjk. I don't really care what people say about me, I am who I am and knowing yourself really helps dealing with people that like to call out imperfections and such. Hahaha. Well said and great car btw. That thing is sweet
Gracias! :3
its quite sad people get judged these days based on their disabilities... One takes are about the car, nothing else... Nice one take, nice car.... I like his style and the way he done his mods.
well said

+DSM jUhnky I'd pin it down to stress and probably an enormous amount of caffeine.
The ST is such a cool daily..
My 17 Focus ST is my daily. I'm a happy man lol
I daily a 18 ST3
i daily a 2014 ST stage 3 and i just always want more power :/ i just want an RS but it cost 2x as much as my car. if i sell my car i could buy an RS but then i cant buy a house lol house > car im sick of renting and throwing my money away. i just want moeee powaaaaa
This guy brightened my day :) Awesome smile and enthusiasm. Awesome overall build.
+Parsa erjaie Thank you! :)
Well done Matt...Well done Carl....I love how Matt makes his guests comfortable and let them talk about their cars...Nice one takes!
Man I am just loving the hell out of these One Takes, keep them coming Matt!!! Very cool car as well Carl!
If only we could have more car channels that bring us new material almost daily! TST rulz, continued success to you guys and thank you for this awesome channel.
Nice car!
Matt, you ordered an RS? Can't wait to see that
+Tyler Dowd He has been talking about not buying it though as he might not want a manual in a daily driver.
+Tyler Dowd Barrel ordered an RS? Where did you he mention that?
supercooled
On the podcast multiple times on many different episodes. He has #1 allocation of the Focus RS from the Gallpin Ford dealer. He is planning to lease the RS and when the lease is up he will hopefully beable to get into a gt350
Wow, ok cool. I'm sure Ken Block is probably going to get one of the first ones off the assembly line though.
supercooled He probably already has one... And likely he doesn't have to pay for his. Matt hasn't even been invited to a press launch for the RS.
Bloody hell Matt, I've been jumping on UA-cam every damned day trying to see if you uploaded another video!
I need them ;-;
+BanDiGo you don't need to look every day, they are every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday!
I am a hopeful fool T--T
+TheSmokingTire I feel dumb. Never even recognized there was a pattern to it. lol.
+BanDiGo Sounds like you need a car of your own to enjoy...and a go pro
Underpantsniper Just let me get past my current financial downfall, >:B
Matt, we spoke before and i second your comment on being a benchmark for big people. I sold my dsm and bought a mazdaspeed 3 because I saw how comfortable you looked in it!
Dude I cant wait to see people doing some crazy RS builds with that AWD
Seems like a nice and sporty car. I like the Vader "free throat hugs" t-shirt, I smiled every time I looked at it.
That's my buddy Carl! Wooh! Video is legit! 👌
+Benjamin Dominguez Ayeee Ben!
Love this dudes shirt.Edit: Wait you ordered an RS?! I WANT!
I wish there were roads like this where i live...
Man I love these one takes man they seriously have become a part of my daily youtube time. Matt your the fucking man bro.
I love it when Matt says "I like being tall and fat...I am a kind of benchmark for...." Then Carl chuckles and twitches while leaning his head forward...I love it...he did it twice...Priceless!!! Come on Matt...265 pounds....almost double my weight (I weigh 143 pounds...LOL)...
thumbs up , Matt Farrah , for your honesty !
So far the st is my favorite daily I’ve ever owned.
Me too. Haven't had a car this fun since my evo 9
Great video once again and what a nice guy. To those making fun of his blinking, please stop being lame, take your judgmental, excessively strong, unsolicited minority complex home with you and keep it out of the car enthusiast community.
2019. Just bought a used 2014 st3. Absolutely love it.even used
I would love to see a short video on your review of the st3. I'm subbing just in case u post it
They grey and black looks so nice
I dont know how comfortable I'd be as a passenger with someone driving my ST the way I do lol. but It is the most fun car I've ever driven, STOCK. Responsive, and tons of torque available in literally any situation.
noone gives a fuck about how you drive
Oh ok cool
35usaf wins.
Thank you for these videos, it's nice seeing what other enthusiasts are driving and how they like their car, and more importantly, how they hold up.
Also, I like your reviews because you are a bigger guy, it lets me know what I can drive lol.
Dope whip Carl! Hopefully I'll have one soon !
Possibly one of the best shirts I have seen in a while!
I love the way this car sounds. Nice ride.
Much better visuals with the overcast and easier on the eyes I love the way he excuses his size If I can fit in it anyone can !
Excellent video quality! This is what we need in reviews. Good work.
Nice car buddy! Love the ST albeit I've been watching the RS after watching topgear's take some time ago. Should be interesting to see what happens when it comes to the states… Oh, and matt--no notchback one take? blue balls bro, blue bawlllls.
Sweet ride brother! Funny shirt. Thanks for sharing.
So Matt, 2015 WRX or Focus ST?
+randomocityvideos I'd have the Focus
st
+TheSmokingTire Golf R or Focus St?
+S Miller more like just get an RS when they come out next year
+S Miller I have a Focus RS on order.
Impressive Carl!! Dig the T-shirt too!!
Ever consider doing one takes in different spots around the country, Matt? Lots of fans would love it.
Thanks Matt from all the big guys out there
Have you considered letting the car's owner drive for a small part of the One-Take? It'd be interesting to see how the owner pushes the car, at least for a bit. I'm not sure I've fully thought out that idea though.

+Nakke144
I believe they are built in Mexico actually, at least my fiesta st was.
the Focus' are assembled in Warren, Michigan.
+4sake123 The Focus currently is made in Michigan, but Ford is probably going to move it somewhere else, just have not said which location yet.
+Simon Liu The latest gen of Focus were not designed by Mazda, Ford does not work with them anymore as they are no longer owned by Ford. The latest Focus is mostly a European design.
European fiestas are built in Germany and designed all around Europe

Awesome video as usual and Awesome car Carl!
These Focus cars of the last few years are looking real decent.
Matt, you are the guy! Hope to see the RS soon in the canyons.
Carl repping NorCal ST!
I'm sick of hearing about the torque steer on the Mazdaspeed, and I'd like to change your opinion about that for good. Matt, if you're ever in dirty Jersey, I invite you to drive my Mazdaspeed3 and show you what some proper mods/tires and tune can do to this car.
+GE3KSPD MOTORSPORTS I've driven at least 5 different MS3's. All of them torque steer like a bitch.
All of them tune for peak horsepower /torque to feel better about their small peens 😉. Stock turbo is capable of making 350TRQ around 3500rpm. Of course it's going to torque steer your ass to the nearest ditch, especially on bitch tires wacky alignment.
I concur... Geek has a nice speed.
+GE3KSPD MOTORSPORTS any advice on alignment?
I'm running an aggressive alignment ( because RACEKAR, right? lol). If you want a good daily, I'd say - 2 camber square. 0.03 toe. But if your goal is to eliminate torque steer, work with your tuner on a nice, progressive torque curve. A properly setup suspension (not hammered) and nice tires. An RMM is a must.
I saw you comment that you have a Focus RS on order, when you get it please to a review on it! That car is freaking awesome
Very Nice car Brother picking one up tomorrow Magnetic gray ST3 going to run it till they work all the bugs out of the RS.
a nice dude he was!
No difficulty with the heel toe in this Focus Matt? I find the gas pedal to be too low.
So the question is would you rather DD a focus ST or the mustang?
Can't wait to see the RS when you receive it!
CaliST in the house.
Go Carl
The Sandlot quote, thank you Matt
Beautiful picture quality Matt
Oh yeah I remember that Focus Rally! The stalling recall must be that point repo creeping up again :p
loving the one takes but i would love to see some more reviews with more than two camera angles. And fox body footage of course.

Focus RS on order, now thats going to be an interesting review.
i wanted a fiesta st but the focus st looks just as sexy with more space. may need to schedule a test drive
+Anthony Focus is the way to go if you want the space. Love mine.
Totally agree about Focus versus Fiesta; whichever one you would prefer without the performance is the one you'll prefer with performance. (The Focus in the case of my wife and I who have two "Foci".

Interesting that Matt ordered the Focus RS. Did not know they were taking orders yet. Isn't that car expected to put down like 350 HP? If so the Focus RS is going to be a BEAST! :D
Love it, I'd probably rock this in white or black myself. Thanks for the "Fatman" review, it's always appreciated Matt !
Can't wait to get mine
Matt i get the feeling you would love to drive a modified MK2 Focus ST. Pity you guys don't get them over there, love my 330bhp daily one :)
Matt for a daily driver would you go Focus ST or Golf GTI and why?
Cool car! Can't wait to see what the RS can do. I've got that same shirt. Nobody seems to want throat hugs.
Great video and decent review. Nice car you've got there. Keeping it drivable and fun.
i have a 2014 fiesta st id like you to drive for this channel. big sleeper with mild modification. i live in san diego but id be willing to make a drive for you to drive it! how do i contact you??

Some people accuse the Focus ST as being juvenile in comparison and I don't agree: The GTI is bland to to me and a bit' too teutonic for my taste... lacking the 'personality' of the ST. I would have liked the bigger turbo out of the box with the GTI but either way, I'd be replacing the turbo with either car so that was ultimately a mute point. Always enjoy your reviews Matt so keep it up!
New microphone? Sound quality is great
Matt, the One Takes are cool and all but we wanna see the Mustang!
+Auto Young right??? not a single video.
With all the people modifying focus Sts, no one is talking about "" ported & polished of the throttle body , when they know that means more power to the wheels.....
tastefully modded. I'm really liking these new fords.
Where can l find a Mountune shop here on the East Coast?
Thank you for being a big dude benchmark
I like the colour of this ST
Awesome video. Awesome car, Carl!
I really like this car! Good job!
New drinking game take a shot every time the guy blinks
can't wait for my RS to get here!
No Focus of any kind? What about that Yellow ZX3 from a while back?! But i have missed these one takes, glad they're back :)
+ThatAlexKid I was referring to this generation of Focus. A 15 year old car doesn't count.
+TheSmokingTire It does count as it's one of the kind ;)
+TheSmokingTire It's a focus, so it counts! haha. Which car did you enjoy more, in terms of pure performance. Not taking into account interior amenities, etc.
So the Focus is a slightly more mature Fiesta: the Focus is at a different stage in life than little brother Fiesta, a bit more refined, a bit less twitchy, with more space but once get start pushing it you can definitely tell they are related.
Did you mean 2013 Focus ST? It was released as a brand new model 2013 vehicle in late summer 2012, there was no 2012 model in the US.
PLEASE try to do an E30 one take! Curviest road you can find perhaps? ;)
Great setup man!
