Ok I’ve canned a few foods from your videos and I’m here to tell you! 💁🏾♀️It👏🏾always👏🏾comes👏🏾out👏🏾PERFECT!! ❤️🥰❤️ can’t wait to make this!
This sounds yummy. I am glad you show that you showed you could make it without the bourbon. Thanks, Carol.
I’m going to give this a try! Thank you!
I never knew that about minimum of jars in the pressure cooker so thank you for sharing that.
Donna Richey you’re welcome 😊
When your recipe doesn't make enough jars for the canner, you can always can water to complete the load (even if you reuse lids and pour it out.
I did not know this either!
@@bethdavis6863 That is a great tip. Thank you
@@bethdavis6863 A few videos I have watched, the person canning, always had dried beans handy and threw in a pint or quart of dried beans to even out the batch of jars and that way they also when they were done, had a nice jar of canned beans to go along with that mean or a future meal.
Looking forward to trying this!
Thank you Carol….once again another great vid
Love how you write the recipe and all the instructions thank you so much
As someone who has canned for many years, I just wanted to compliment you on this video! So well done, great recipe, and you advocate for canning according to safe guidelines. Winner across the board. Can't wait to try this recipe, and I am looking forward to watching more of your videos.
I love the hint of adding vinegar to the canning water. Always love learning new canning tips.
Love this recipe! Down to 1 pint. Time to restock my shelves! Thank you Carol ♥️
Made this. It was delicious!!
Oh yum. I am definitely going to can some of that! Thank you

Thank you for including some very helpful tips in this video and in others as well. Little bits of valuable information that many other people do not include in their videos and I have found so very helpful. Another great video as always
Thanks for to recipe's and your instruction.
Can’t wait to try this one!
Thank you!! I canned 4 pints of Bourbon chicken last night. It was fantastic!
Very informative, easy to follow instructions. I do know how to can and really appreciate the good reinforcement of safe canning practices here.
Lovely video. I am just getting into food canning. Can't wait to try this.💐
We made this on Saturday. My husband was so bummed I was canning it 🤣 because he wanted to eat it. I had doubled the sauce to make some for dinner that night and he was thrilled. He used one jar of it when he made lunch today. It was so good! Thanks for an awesome recipe.
Great teaching!! I am excited to make this chicken soon!!
Fabulous! I just found your channel, love to have new recipes to can. ❤
I just put this in the canner. It looks amazing and the sauce is divine!! With bourbon, of course. Great tutorial!
Caught your vid by accident, and when I saw how to can Bourbon Chicken, we’ll I had to watch. New subscriber as of today. Can’t wait to try this recipe. Now I’m craving Bourbon chicken. Lol! 😂
Omg! I just made this and the sauce is so good! Going to make more for sure!
Never made it to the canner!!!! This was soooo good, I decided to try it for lunch and loved it so much I served it to my husband for dinner. We both loved it. I immediately shared it to my page and my sister made it for her husband and he loved it too! Making it again a 2nd time but will double or triple it so that I will actually have some to can after we have a meal. lol Thank you for this recipe. It is now a family favorite! ***** 5 stars!
Alice Casteel what a sweet and kind compliment! Thank you 🥰💕
Carol, I canned this in Nov. 2022 after watching this video. I tried it tonight, OMG! It is delicious! Thank you so much…going to the store tomorrow to buy more chicken thighs❤️❤️❤️
Just started canning and came across this recipe! Thank you for sharing it is so good!! I made the chicken and loved it so I just made it again but used it in stew meat and pork!! ❤️
Nice job, will try your recipe.
Just tried this recipe. Super... yummy. The sauce is amazing. Thankyou
This will be on my shelf on Wednesday! I’m going to be able to do two different canning projects tomorrow! Your bean and bacon soup and this! I just love your channel and your personality
Thank you 💕
This looks so good! I will be doing this real soon. Yay! Looks much better than what I made!
Thanks we love Asian food.
Thank you 🙏
I have been binge watching canning videos today and came across your channel, I just wanted to say thank you for putting out this helpful content! I can tell you love what you’re doing!!
Emma Kate awe... thank you, that is the best compliment. And yes, I truly love canning. It’s a wonderful hobby 💕
Thrifty Chic Housewife You’re welcome 😊

Canned this, it’s delicious!
Yum! I have the sauce cooking on the stove right now. Its dinner tonight! Thank you
Hi Carol, Thank you for the awesome Recipe... I never had Bourbon chicken before...so didn't know what to expect. I was happily amazed how good it tasted ... I got 8 pints from the sauce that I canned with chicken thighs bone in...
Love your stuff, thank you so much, also love the necklace, I make those so it makes me feel great to see that style on others
Dee Pinder Beadwolf thank you! We bought the necklace on one of the Caribbean islands while on vacation. I love supporting local artisans. 💕
I Canned 5-pint jars today and you are so right... Your recipe is Delicious! I had a little extra chicken and sauce leftover for a single-serve meal so I went ahead and made it for lunch with some rice and OMGosh..... So Good! I'm excited to have 5 jars added to my pantry! Thank You! :)
Carol, your so awesome!!! From your biggest newest fan!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the recipe!! I have 7 pints in the canner now.
Oh yum! I've canned chicken thighs but not with sauce. I make a honey Sriracha chicken dish and this would be a great base for that. And the kiddos would like this over rice. Quick and easy lunch in my busy world.
Looks yummy! Added to list.
Update: 😮 that is sooooo good! I did use some whiskey I infused with apple in place of bourbon and I wish I could tell you how absolutely amazing this is. In canner now. This is definitely a new favorite! 🥰
I do t have bourbon so am also going to try whiskey. Thanks for commenting on how good it was!
This is delicious! I canned this is September and just had it out of the jar this past weekend. It is excellent.
I added a slurry of cornstarch when I reheated it from the jar. Served with rice and Asian stir fry veggies.
I will be doing this again this week to put back into my pantry.
Trying this one today .
This recipe was delicious! I canned 4-pints with chicken breast and the meat was so tender. Going to double the recipe tomorrow and make MORE. Love your channel.
Thank you 😊
I’m canning this today, adding a bit of diced bacon during the browning. It’s going to be worth a trip to the store to pick up some bourbon. Thanks for sharing your recipe 😊
Have just removed this bourbon chicken from canner, smells amazing. Thank you Carol my pantry over the past few days is starting to look pretty great thanks for sharing these fantastic recipes with really good instructions.
Just did four pint and a half jars. Substituted pork for chicken! Really looks great in the jar and I had a little left over and we had it over rice. Excellent recipe, thank you! (Added the bourbon).
How did it turn out with pork?
Carol, I opened up a jar of your recipe that I canned back in November. All I had to do was heat to a boil and add cornstarch slurry to thicken. Served with rice and steamed frozen broccoli. A pint jar gave me two hearty meals, delicious and so convenient thanks ❤
I canned 5 pints of this yesterday! We had one jar that didn’t seal for dinner tonight. Thickened it and served over rice. I did add the 1/4 c bourbon. Delicious! Thank you!
I just canned last your Bourbon pinto beans, had to make a recipe of your B bean recipe and mixed into the Bourbon beans. Turned out great.
I shared your vid with my husband 😊 told him I need bourbon as I want to make this recipe and soon. Thank you
I just made this. OMG! I used Bourbon and did end up increasing the fluid a bit (just rounded them up except for the bourbon) as I had enough chicken thigh meat to fill 6 pints. Really delicious recipe and incredibly easy to make. I’ll certainly make it again…my wife insists! Thanks, Carol!
Best instructions on canning. Still don't have my canner yet, but hoping for one at the end of the year ❤❤❤ Looked for an alcohol free vs and have everything you listed. Thank you and you have a new subscriber!
Awwww... puppy love at 15:20. Great video!
ShesInLosAngeles 🥰
Thar looks so good! I’m going to cook the chicken pieces on a cookie sheet and bake it for 10 minutes or so.
Thanks Carol! I made Chicken Vegetable Soup today and still have about 3.5lb chicken....was looking for something different to do with it. This looks like the ticket :-). No bourbon for us, so I will follow your lead and use extra chicken broth.
This is Awesome👏👏Job well done💋
I'm anxious to try this! Update: I DID and it is delicious!!!!!
Thank you for sharing! I just found your channel a couple days ago. I canned your baked beans recipe ( truly better than Bush’s). Very delicious! I’m going to give this a try today! I’m sure it will be outstandingly delicious. Again, thank you!
The chix sound Good
I imagine you could use pineapple juice instead of the apple juice with great results - this is such a yummy recipe - Thank you soooo much. Do like the Bragg amino tip (instead of soy sauce) as well.
Thank you for this recipe! 🤗 I just made a HUGE batch and have some tips if that's okay. This is a great recipe but when multiplying the recipe be aware that some ingredients you may not want to do that with. Such as red pepper flakes and the soy sauce. It can make it TOO hot and TOO salty. I did mine x6. Had to add more brown sugar and I also put in about a cup of fresh honey to help curb the heat. The heat really isn't all that noticeable until after you simmered your meat in it for a little while before canning it. Which means that once it's canned, even if you didn't simmer your meat in it first, it's gonna get hotter during the process. I was not able to snuff the extra saltiness. However, I think if doing more than a double recipe only do half the amount of soy and instead use packaged chicken broth for the other half. I made 2 family pkgs of boneless skinless chicken breasts and 1/2 a family pkg of thighs. It was about 13- 14 lbs. To have enough broth I x6 the recipe. It IS great recipe but maybe for the reasons I mentioned that's why it makes so little. Oh btw, I did use Jim Beam Bourbon (apple bourbon) 😀 I thought the apple would compliment it nicely and it did 😉 😄 As far as the salt goes I think when I serve this I'm gonna serve it over bland rice or potatoes and vegetables with having had no salt whatsoever added.. I believe that should balance it out.. Next batch I'm gonna do as I said in my suggestions.
Update!
One of the quart jars didn't seal so guess what I had for dinner? 😁 Here's what I did; I cooked a Success Rice Boil in the bag Jasmine. Put the jar contents in a medium pot, threw in a handful of julienned tricolor bell peppers and a handful of onion. Heated to boiling and thickened with cornstarch. Placed steamed broccoli florets to one side of the plate and rice to the other then spooned the bourbon chicken with gravy across the middle of them. It was absolutely delicious!!! The jasmine was a perfect compliment to the chicken as was the broccoli and it didn't taste salty at all 😁
This sounds amazing. I've never had bourbon chicken, but it's definitely something I'll be trying now.
Girl dats a yummy way to do chicken thighs! Thanks we’re making 7 qts right now :) winner winner chicken dinner
Bourbon chicken never heard of it lol I don’t even drink no more, but I still eat 👍😂❤️❤️🙏
Country Charlie the bourbon is optional 😉
I also wanted to say that When I watch your videos, and have been for over a year now, I always think how great your videos are and what great recipes and how safe you are especially with canning. I also think how beautiful you are, inside and out. How gorgeous your hair is, how gorgeous you are, how kind and caring you are and what a wonderful mother and wife. How you are so honest and have such strong moral values. I’ve seen your tea party, and other events where you dressed up so pretty and everything was absolutely perfect.
Today while watching I finally decided that you remind me of a modern Victorian Lady.
😘
kimberly nance you are way too sweet! You are such a blessing to me 🥰. Funny, your last sentence... I LOVE the Victorian era. I’ve always felt like an old soul born in the wrong time period. My bedroom is decorated with hat boxes, feather boas, pearls and lacy curtains😉💕
Thrifty Chic Housewife I can see that.
Carol you are a blessing to all who watch your channel that you inspire in so many ways.
You are definitely a blessing to me - I might be in a sad place one day but if I turn on your video you perk me up - you make me smile 😊!
Thank you 😘
I feel this way, too. I always think how can someone make canning look so graceful and beautiful? But it’s just her soul shining through. You have great words, and it was beautifully said.
Carol, I made your bourbon chicken recipe, but when you said 1tsp of chili peppers I heard 1 Tbsp and put that in!!!! I opened it tonight and my mouth is burning! But it’s delicious! I might make it again without red pepper flakes! Ouch
Looks and sounds delicious!! I will use thighs because chicken breasts are one meat that I don’t want to can. It looks exactly like the chicken in the cans from the grocery store - dry - not like eating a delicious moist chicken breast you have fried or baked.
I will be canning this soon - thanks for another wonderful canning recipe. Every Recipe I have canned of yours has been 5 star. Everyone loves them and wants more. 😳 I can’t keep up! 😂.
kimberly nance thank you! I appreciate your kind works so very much 💕💕
Thank you so much for your great canning videos! 😊 Just canned the bourbon chicken yesterday. It would be easier for me to can the sauce and add fresh cooked chicken when serving it. Is it safe to can just the sauce?
This sounds amazing. I just found you and LOVE how you do your videos. Quick and to the point! Yes! LOVE it. I have a question. I won't use clear jel because all is made with GMO corn but I'm not familiar with making a slurry or specifically one for this recipe. Could you explain? Thank you. So glad you came into my feed. I love your hair too! 🤗🙏🤗
Thank you for the sweet compliment, so glad to have you here. You can use corn starch or arrow root dissolved in cold water to thicken. Just stir together equal parts (1-2T) then stir into the sauce from the jar then bring to a boil to thicken. 😊💕
This looks So Good! And betcha a million bucks it tastes even better! You are making a lot of work for me to do pretty soon! Lol! But canning is one chore I don't mind doing! And it's not even a chore really as I quite enjoy it! Very calming unless I have two others asking why this and why that about both the process and the recipe! Lol! Have a Great weekend Pretty Girl! You and the fam stay safe and healthy!
Georgia Peach314 you too, my sweet Georgia Peach🍑! 😍💕
Georgia Peach314 I agree. Rethinking my plans for the weekend.
Only comment I have is don’t use table salt with iodine , I always use canning salt so I never mix up.looks great
Hey, Carol! It’s Carol! This looks really good. I can see myself eating it with rice! So, I googled bourbon chicken and Wikipedia says it originated on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Funny how it’s at Chinese restaurants, but it is!!! Have a nice day!!
PNWSillyHweart That is an interesting fun fact ... I had the same thought 😊
PNWSillyHeart when I first heard bourbon chicken, I thought New Orleans.
Hi Carol, thank you for all your wonderful UA-cam videos. I was wondering if it would be ok to substitute butter for the olive oil when browning up the chicken?
Hi! I wouldn’t but you could use a minimal amount of another oil if you prefer 😊
Got a 10 lb bag of chicken leg quarters for 4.90. I figured this was a good opportunity to learn how to debone chicken thighs. I ended up using some of the leg meat also to get to 3 1/2 lbs. Mine made 4 1/2 pints. It'll make at least 2 meals a jar, if not 3. Pretty good deal if you ask me! I'll take that big bag of bones and can some chicken broth next. Thank you for another great video!
Also - I made chicarrones with some of the skin. Nothing was wasted!
Michelle Staton awesome!
@@carol-thriftychichousewife6231 I actually could not wait to try this. I opened the half pint and had it for lunch. It made two meals - and is great!
Michelle Staton I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! 😍
Love your video as all of them, you are such a sweet darling and speak so well !
Carol thanks so much for sharing this Jimmy recipe, have u ever made it with the bourbon. Can it be pressure cooked as well?.
Yes
Thanks for another delicious recipe, Carol. The sauce is outstanding--have you ever canned it alone? I'm a sauce lover and would enjoy having additional containers of this one among my diy condiments! Thanks!
No I haven’t canned it alone. I’m not sure where to get a proper processing time. For this recipe I’m using the time for processing chicken
@@carol-thriftychichousewife6231 Thank you, Carol.
I canned this recipe last week and we had some for dinner tonight. Delicious! Thank you.
I added a diced onion to the sauce - was that OK (safe) to do?
Yes, safe 😊
Clear jel is good for pie filling and in the books for years for canning not corn starch. Can be used for thickener in soup and stews,
ClearJel has never been tested in pressure canning. It is only approved for canning pie filling ...
I made this canning recipe this weekend and I wanted to ask what you like using to thicken the sauce when reheating to eat. I wasn't a fan of cornstarch, as I didn't like the way it altered the delicious sauce. Any other suggestions? Thank you so much! I love your channel!!💜💜
You could make a rue out of equal parts butter and flour
Here’s a quick shortcut that eliminates the oil used to brown. I place on parch paper in the oven 375 for 15” only. Easy and done in a batch. I’ve made with chicken, delicious and of course with the bourbon, and today I am doing turkey! I’ll stop back when it’s done to tell you how it is.
How many does one pint feed? One person? Two? Thanks so much, I made quite a bit of this and it is just me and my hubby. Thanks for all your videos.
Depends on how big of eaters you are and if you serve it over rice or noodles. It will usually feed two 😊
This sounds sooooo good!! I do have a question however, do you think this recipe would be safe to can with raw pack chicken? Meaning heating up the sauce then pouring over raw chicken to pressure can.
Yes
Oh my gosh that looks sooo good ; ) I'm a brand new canner (only canned 4 pints of ground beef) but I want to try this next. After I simmer the chicken and sauce for 5 minutes, can I use a slotted spoon to put the chicken in then pour the sauce in, I'm worried I won't get the chicken vs sauce proportioned right. Thanks, Lj
Yes
Ms Carol I love your hair it’s so pretty is it a perm and if so what kind? Is it a spiral perm or natural
Thank you so much! It’s naturally curly. In the 80’s I got perms for this look. After having kids my hair changed and here we are 😂 😊
Well you look amazing
Hi everyone, Can I can just the broth without the chicken? What I was thinking is can the broth in small jars. I want to make dipping sauce with this. I'll add clear jel to thicken...
