I’m looking at the Makana, mainly because of the weight. I’ll be 58 this year. I used to have an SS127, and I didn’t go as much because it was just a beast to manage. I like the “throw and go” aspect of the Vibe. Nothing against the Oldtown. Just need a lighter option.

look into the nucanoe flint - it is designed to be lightweight a easy to portage for river use, but my buddy has one with a stern-mounted tiller trolling motor and it works really well for him (he sets up quicker than I get my Radar 115 w/pedal drive ready)
I was looking at both of them and tested out a 106 pdl at the boat sport and travel show. Realistically i was looking for a makana and ended up snagging a pdl 106 off a guy i met for $500. I thought he was lying. Anyway i love the boat but its definitely not a throw it on the top of the car boat like my yellowfin 100. I put it on the trailer. The pedal drive is a total game changer. I went to the local big lake and went three times as far and wasnt even tired when i got back. Piece if cake.. i will keep my yellowfin for smaller places or just slapping it on pool noddles on the roof of the car and dropping it in off the banks.
I bought the Makana.. just wanted something fairly economical for a pedal drive, light & easy to transport. If I want to get “serious” I have my lil center console for all my gear, I-pilot, etc

Aliex, have you ever thought about doing a best for kids fishing kayak video? I have a 7 year old turning 8 who wants his own boat soon, but I am struggling to put together a list of boats I think he could handle on his own (why I've been watching your vids on the Makana). Thought it might be a cool video for the kayak fishing dads out there.
great comparison Aliex. i have a pelican power catch pwr 100 I've only taken out a couple of times. wanting to get more confident with it. I'm in southern Maryland so there is Chesapeake bay and river fishing opportunities.
Listen to Aliex!! Especially if you're purchasing a new kayak, or you're upgrading to a different one. Even carts, motors, all the toys we love. Every boat he reviews he has, or has been on with equipment, in the ocean. Or bare and flips them, and shows the limit the kayak can take. He's not sitting in a garage, or some showroom like 99 percent of others are. And he tells it like it is, so we know what to expect. All his kayak, accessory, add-on, testing, and using the kayaks with different setups is awesome. No one else does this!! Great review Aliex. 💯 🌊 🎣 🛶
After watching you on the 120 and a couple other youtubers, I decided to get my hands on it. I turned down the 2012 Hobie like you said. I originally wanted the Makana but I weigh 260lbs so I decided against it. Almost did the sheerwater as well, but the 120 seems king of stability. Right now I have my Vibe Seaghost up for sale, it's pretty stable as well but not peddle, so long distance sucks

When I first got my OT 106 PDL it was considered a budget kayak. The price just keeps going up with zero updates to the kayak.

106 vs the Slayer Max 10 those are my two choices

I just put a motor guide xi3 on my 3 water big fish 103 and it’s epic and stupid stable.
