    I absolutely adore my 106… it’s the perfect size, and has everything I need. Just caught my personal best Redfish, Black Drum, and Sea Trout last weekend! Wouldn’t trade my Kayak for anything!
    Great video! Thanks!

    I personally got myself this exact yak about 6 weeks ago, watched your initial review now watching this. By far one of the best tools I've gotten my hands on for fishing. And it's even better at least here in Illinois not having to worry about stickers registration year to year. Glad to see you're still enjoying this boat a year later, as I hope to enjoy mine for the years to come. Good luck out there!

    Close to 66 and have the same truck as you so your videos were the final straw that made me decide this is the best choice. I have been changing my mind from one to another and thinking that I needed the 120 but seeing how stable it is for your I think the added length and weight would make it harder to transport and lift for no much gain. I especially like your review because it is not from someone with some vested interest in their review. Sure there are a few out there that are similar but it is clear that you use it often enough that even simple problems would be annoying enough for you to mention them. Thanks for you honest and comprehensive review. I guess Old town will thank you too because in a few days I am going to be ordering one. I just wish they had a color that was more hunting friendly as I hope this is usable for duck season.

      yes sir, that's why I stay "brand free" regardless of what I'm reviewing, I want to be honest and open in my reviews. Obviously if I spent money on it, I'd done my research and comparisons as best I could.

      I’m 325 and am wondering how wet it usually is by your feet. Also how much water comes in when we pull up the pdl drive. It’s like do I get the 120 because I need to or the 106 and have better maneuverability. I have a truck and I have a trailer. I’ll probably build a trailer for this regardless.

    SUPER REVIEW, YOU DID THE OLD TOWN PROUD! I love how you ♥ the Old Town. I 💘 my Old Town Sportsman 106 too. My is the paddle only version and frankly I feel that the paddle only 106 versions don't get enough love in the fishing world. I originally wanted and went to buy a PDL version but realized that the PDL was overkill for my simple, very basic fishing needs. I'm glad I saved the extra dollars and stocked up on LEW'S Combos and other gear. At 70ish, I'll maybe upgrade to a PDL, THEY ARE AWESOME, but not anytime soon. BTW, Your LEW'S MACH CRUSH SPINCASTER Combo, got that! It's a great Combo and it's my SPINCASTER of choice. The rest of my fishing arsenal are BAITCASTERS. I have stayed exclusively with LEW'S for years now.
    TIGHT LINES!

    Down 40 pounds in 12 months with 'fishercise' - you need an infomercial...the Old Town PDL plan! Congrats on that, btw.
    I saved your vids. Decades of paddling and fishing from canoes and kayaks have developed so many little tricks o rarely think about it... but I may still end up with this boat soon. Thanks for your vids...I enjoy your style, easy subscribe for me.

    I'm really digging these 1yr reviews. This is a great idea as most reviews are fresh out of the package with no battle stories. Sweet yak. Lower back problems are awful. I blew my back out in my mid 30s. Had to have surgery and that was zero fun.

    I have a bad back... worked on cars for decades. I can lift but I dont want something thats really heavy. Ive looked around and cannot find the spec of how much it weights. If it's 80lbs I would be fine after a long day of work....drop in and fish till dark but the end of the day... I don't know if I wanna try to load something that's 120lbs. It looks heavy ever for a kayak.

      Assembled Boat Weight with seat, peddle drive is 107lbs. PDL drive is 18lbs, and seat is 6. So you can remove those first and be closer to that 80lbs to load.

    Great review! I’m still waiting on this exact kayak. While I’ve been waiting, I’ve been purchasing upgrades from Navarre. A LOT of great stuff from them. Just curious… did you need seat risers for the old town seat? I was thinking of going with the 2 inch rear ones to level out the seat? Would that work?

      Butt never gets wet. I wear Crocs, so I don't really think or care much about feet getting wet. Water does come in because of my weight, but I could plug the scuppers with foam golf balls if I wanted to.

    • @FishINwithGRAMPS
      @FishINwithGRAMPS  Рік тому +1

      it's plenty stable enough for big guys to stand and fish. I don't because my knee can and has collapsed at random times just standing on a floor. I've have stood and taken a piss out of the boat in shallow water. I have a boat that I rarely stand in because of my knee issues.
