Y’all should really do some more nascar stuff, I can think of so many moments off the top of my head
How about doing a countdown on F1 title showdowns?
Yay finally thanks Watchmojo!
You should've made this list aa Top 20, Rebecca... even a Top 20 list isn't enough to contain 70 years of Formula 1 History...
but still great job presenting the list, Rebecca & WatchMojo...
What about the beginning of the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix or Jos Verstappin's Pit Accident during the 1994 German Grand Prix?
As a Brazilian , this list is missing Ayrton Senna winning with just one gear, and him taking 1st place in a single lap while in a raining race after leaving far behind
Probably a top 10 of the best Magic moments alone should be done
That time when Schumi crash with Coulthard and went to the box to kick his ass lol, that was a classic, dont know how they forget it. Multi 21 could be here too, maybe the last laps of the 2016 season as well.
I thought his brazil race would be #1 but its all good
Damn you’re right. Completely magical moment
Yess!! That’s one of my favorite senna moments. And the post race activities where you can physically see how much pain winning that race put him under. Absolutely stellar race.
About time we got more F1 stuff on this channel. Hopefully this video means we will have more F1 videos coming out soon
Facts
True dat!
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
True, or anything sports-related that isn’t all about north america
More motorsport lists in general would be great. I'm sure mojo can find something from modern and historic GT and touring racing as well.
Every time senna and prost crashes
Murray Walker :This is fantastic
lmao true
True 😂
Evertime i see 98 spa "ohh god"
And they did again in the same track in 1990 season, along with Walker claimed "THIS IS AMAZING!!"
There’s no way to condense something like this into a top 10, but Grosjean’s crash should replace Hamilton’s tire failure. With todays safety to see a car split in half & basically explode, (in the social media age) was literally unbelievable.
Even Massa getting struck by that spring was a bigger shock than Lewis getting that W.
@@joshdawson5850 Get it? Shock? hehe

The fact that Roman essentially just got out and walked it off is incredible.
30 seconds inside a roaring fire like that could have been an absolute disaster... But he somehow, incredibly walked out of that inferno.
2008 F1 Season: "you will never see a more dramatic conclusion"
2021 F1 season: hold my beer.
Trueeee
One decided by the weather, and another one, well, by the race director
There is a reason f1 is the jewel of motor racing.
actually, motogp is far better
@ you can prefer MotoGP to F1 but it isn't better, let alone "far better"
@ I can see why you said so. Two wheels are more risky and challenging and hard.
@@bakugancm7 It depends on why you watch racing, I would say most of the people watch it, because they find the race interesting. And I know you cant measure it objectively, but F1 race simply is not nearly as interesting.
no worries, wathmojo will make IndyCar list very soon (or not). Pennzoil Penske is my favourite!
You know F1 really starts to gain popularity in US when WatchMojo starts making video about it
@@dat_f0rmula1rookie-728 i dread to think
As a Formula 1 fan living in the US, I'm happy that WatchMojo actually did a video on Formula 1
Formula 1 is getting more and more popular
@@simonemerlino2173 I'm sure a lot of that is because of the Netflix documentary series Formula 1 Drive To Survive.
@@boredstudent i totally agree with you, but i think this is very good for my favourite sport
I’m an American and casual fan of the sport, but WatchMojo could have at least attempted to pronounce some of the names correct (especially the more modern drivers). A little research goes a long way on credibility. Not that credibility is what Watchmojo is known for lol.
agreed
I'd give an honourable mention to the 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix. It was a race with swinging fortunes and a dramatic way for it to be ended. It was the first time since the 1991 Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide that half points were awarded. Even before the race began, storm clouds gathered, making people wonder when the storm would hit. The first part of the race was dry and there was wild performance differences (cars with KERS, Kinetic Energy Recovery System, leapfrogged ahead of cars that were in general faster over a lap but not where it mattered). Part way through the second stint, the rain arrived.
Most of the teams were over cautious, fitting full wet tyres when it wasn't raining as heavily as expected. The only exception was Timo Glock, him again. He had his car fitted with intermediate tyres when the rain began, meaning that his tyres could survive for longer in the less wet conditions than the full wets in the same conditions and he was up to first by the time he stopped again, this time for full wets as the rain intensified to the level expected of a monsoon storm. Even after Glock had his full wet tyres fitted, 3 forks of lightning struck the grandstand, and light was fading. Jenson Button was just able to be fast enough on his tyres to emerge ahead when the Safety Car was deployed due to the intensity of the rain (by this time cars were spinning off or sliding off the track) and as lead BBC Commentator Jonathan Legard put it:
"...when it rains here you need oars not tyres,"
The race was then red flagged and footage of either drivers walking along the grid with the rain pouring down or Kimi Raikkonen (who had KERS isolation problem) having an ice cream while wearing civvies circled around the world. Due to the later than the previous normal start time, 5PM local time instead of 2PM, there was not enough daylight for the race to be restarted. Although it didn't go the full distance, it was a race that got people talking at the time
You could add the amazing 2011 Canadian Grand Prix to that list.
Still my favourite race to this day with so many crazy moments and in my opinion one of the most crazy comeback drives in a race I’ve seen.
@@DAVE0DENIS01 my favourite race is Nurburgring 1999. A difficult day for the title contenders, a variety of different race leaders, mixed weather conditions and a strange, unexpected top 3 (Johnny Herbert, Jarno Trulli, Rubens Barrichello the top three, with Ralf Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen and Marc Gene completing the points scorers)
@@SiVlog1989 I do love that race as well. So many great races and spa is a great track when the rain is just right and not too bad (flashbacks intensify 😂😂).
@@DAVE0DENIS01 I was at the '09 Msian GP with my family; we watched from the hills near the side of the track as the drivers duked it out.. Ngl, their roaring engines felt like music to my ears
@@AifDaimon just curious, how did you react when you learned that the race wouldn't be restarted? If the whistling from those on the main grandstand is anything to go by, they were disappointed
Canada 2011 for me is still one of the craziest F1 races ever.
My dad was SO drenched that the skin from his fingertips had come off lol.
Yeah this
Definitely
As a Finnish person who was a fan of this sport before it moved to pay-to-watch channels, I'm disappointed that no moments from Michael Schumacher and Mika Häkkinen's legendary rivalry made it to this list.
I think Hakkinen’s pass on Schumacher around Zonta on the Kemmel straight from 2000 was the most iconic
@@Samylton the vid aint about the most iconic tho. Its about the most dramatic.
I imagine the narrators pronunciation of Bottas irks you too!
@@squishy3594 I know I was just giving iconic moments examples to this persons comment since there weren’t any major dramatic moments closely shared by them
And Räikkönen 2007 title win, 4 races and 26 points behind. I would’ve put Grosjeans crash on the list, the didn’t mention Jules Bianchi or when Massa got hurt. Not a bad list but at least the honorable mentions list should’ve been longer.
For me the most dramatic moment in Formula 1 was in the Sakhir Grand Prix in 2020 when Sergio Pérez went from last to first. His contract with Racing Point wasn't getting renewed and he would lose his seat to Sebastian Vettel. Fortunately, he was picked up by Red Bull for the 2021 season. Racing Point became Aston Martin in 2021 also.
good one, yes.
Sakhir Grand Prix, but yeah what a moment!
Yes, good call! That last to first race by Chekp was EPIC!
@@fionawebster9902 seeing that race was epic. But it didn't come without unfortunate events. George Russell who was driving for Lewis Hamilton who was out with COVID was on pole for most of the race. But a set of mixed tires caused him to lose out on his position. Then he had a puncture which caused him to lose. Checo dominated that race and nothing stopped him.
It's not a moment. That's a race long situation.
It misses Hakkinen's iconic overtake on Schumacher and Zonda, Alonso's battle with Schumacher at Imola and Senna's sixth gear win at Brazil
I´d like to know WHY everybody remembers Imola 2005 and not Imola 2006?
@@juancarlosmelgarejo6120 I Didn't mention the year though
@@juancarlosmelgarejo6120 cuz it was seen by many as the changing of the guard between Michael and Nando. 2006 is more like the past master showing a young up comer how it’s done
2021 title decider being number 1 is insulting
I agree. It wasm't dramatic at all. Controversial & weird, that's all.
@@fionawebster9902 they're have been wayyy more dramatic moments
The pre-2000s moments nearly all have one thing in common: the late, great Murray Walker OBE. His commentary made some of the moments even more legendary.
“THIS IS AMAZING”
Nice list, but where is Belgian 1998 start crash?
Crazy to see how popular F1 became in the US in these last two years. About time though, one of the most exciting sports ever
You can probably thank Netflix and the Haas F1 team for some of the work.
Definitely not haas lmao
I doubt mazaspin was bringing in any fans
@@JoseRamirez-ks7rc guenther
Yea it blew up like crazy, and now we'll have 3 races in the us.
FIA are gonna make ridiculous cash.
Personally I think that the 2008 title decider should be ranked higher than the 2021 decider.
Even though it's both a kind of "against all odds" for the crowned champ of that year, I think it's more dramatic how Glock's gamble in the rain would decide the championship instead of a crashing car in the final stage of the race.
6:00 "while Schumacher is considered an F1 great"
He's not great he's The Legend 😂
These guys didn't even get the HALF of the drama surrounding the 2021 season finale. Including race director Michael Masi being fired after the race, months later
Yeah duh. It's not a 2021 compilation it's "all time" and filling it with things from 2021 would surely mean cutting other things that people would complain weren't included.
Moments that should be in here (I haven't seen the video yet):
1. The Abu Dhabi debacle or the entire 2021 Driver's Championship rivalry
2. Vettel's Pit to P1 run
3. Senna's last ride
4. Schumi's last "pole"
5. Spa 1998
6. Leclerc Monza win after Hubert crash
7. MacLaren 1-2 in Monza
8. Ricciardo redemption race in Monaco
9. Grosjean Phoenix
10. Massa's loss in Brazil
Now, let's watch.
You clearly haven't watched the sport for very long...
@@ChristianGiaconiBonaguro Sure, coz I was alive to watch the 1959 US GP.
They didn't even include Senna's crash.
@@kamagoong 1. I was born in 1989.
2. They didn't include a single death (for obvious, respectful reasons)
About time we got f1 content somewhere. I got so excited when i saw this video existed. We f1 fans deserve this.
I’m sure this list could have been a top 50. I’m so happy to see F1 getting more attention on this side of the pond.
The 2021 season of Formula 1 was the best season ever, between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. And the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi was awesome.
Disgrace
@@mandelleli why is that a disgrace?
I died a little seeing Hamilton lose 😔 but it was a great season and race
Loved it aswell
@@marshallbertoluzzi7985 Have you watched it? Do you think that everything was done according to rules and that the result was fair? If so, you are new in formula 1 and if not, why are you even asking..
I think Ayrton Senna's fatal crash is the most dramatic and certainly one of the darkest moments in F1.
They clearly haven't chosen terrible things like deaths
@@timori5290 I don't blame them
the worst race weekend in F1 history Ratzenberger and Senna
yeah i agree but they wont put that on here we all know what happened and if you didnt yuor parents would tell you that how i found out what happened to him that and they did a doc on top gear years ago about it
@@semiretired86 and Barrichello for 6 minutes I saw a documentary about it
What I'm missing: Lauda's crash, Vettel not switching position with Webber even tho the team said so, McLaren's 1-2 in Monza after Lewis and Max crashed. And just for the memes: Leclerc's "I am stupid" in Baku.
Yep i agree
Unavoidable some recency bias here, but overall surprisingly solid choices.
Fangio's win in Nurburgring deserved a place in the top 10 and not just the honorable mentions.
Romain grosjean saying "that was the worst thing I've ever seen"....
Little did he know...
This is the first time I’ve seen F1 content on this channel. It’s awesome! I grew up watching watch mojo and F1 so it’s crazy to see this!
Woah f1 in the mojo.. So nice to see my fav sport in one of fav channels.
Massa’s crash in 2009 has to be up there. A spring bouncing at you fast, you driving towards it at 300kph, zero chance to avoid that.
Great hear Murray Walker commentary again. Legend. ‘AND THERE THEY GO!!’
The entire 2021 season was top notch, it was so crazy I needed at least one month to recover
What a beautiful, exciting and incredible sport F1 is. Been watching it since 2013
The first race I watched was the 1996 Japanese Grand Prix, where Damon Hill became the first second generation world champion. It was a combination of the look of the cars, the impression of speed and the sound of the cars that won me over at the age of 7 (at the time)
It's quite sad, you started watching just at the beginning of the dark times
@@MerrasMies Yeah, I was only born in 2006 so I sadly couldn't see greats like Senna, Schumacher, Prost or Lauda win championship. But I'm very glad to see Ferrari fighting for wins again and I'm happy that I can witness the starts of future legends' careers
You should have watched before 2013, it was even better. Hope F1 delivers this year like last year.
@@aesir1ases64 I was 6 in 2013 so that's why I only started watching F1 so late

9:27 this is amazing!
Best announcer ever
God Bless Mr. Murray Walker, the first voice of Formula 1!
May he rest in peace.
This list should've been extended to 20 at least, there's a ton of intense and unforgettable moments in F1 history. I was even expecting Max's crash at Silverstone to be on the list. As one of the F1 fans and fan of motorsports in general, more F1 and motorsport content would be greatly appreciated.
More F1 content please and thank you
First off, THANK you for a pretty good F1 vid, WM.
I incredibly-appreciate that you spent time on the 50s and 60s and other incredible times in history.
'57 should've been #1 though; that was the greatest, most heart-stopping moment in the history of the sport, not to mention the greatest drive in the history of the sport (people just don't know how difficult the Nordschliefe is and in an aging 250F?) and still to this day, doesn't get its due that it should.
Thanks for this though, WM; aside from recency bias (the Hamilton luck shouldn't even be an HM, let alone #2), it was a good vid.👏👍
Never ever expected American YT channel would pick F1 as one of the featured topics.
Great video. Thanks.
We basically have to get multiple videos on the F1 2021 season.
That was a controversial season
The fact that Abu Dhabi 2010 and Brazil 2012 aren't mentioned is shocking
Facts
I love seeing F1 here!!!!! YESSSSSSS!!! Thank you!!!
Yes please more F1 lists PLEEEEEEASE
Even before clicking I knew Abu Dhabi 2021 was gonna be #1
I would have the first and the second place of this top ten inverted. Actually the 2021 finale felt more forced that the 2008 one. So, in my opinion the 2008 Interlagos showdown surpasses 2021 Yas Marina. I'm not a Hamilton fan, but I have to be honest. Being more honest, a top 10 is not enough. Excluding tragic events, even the 2007 showdown in Interlagos, the 2010 Yas Marina finale and several Schumacher moments should be acknowledged.
I hear you but you simply cant really compare to the race leaders facing off for the title in the last lap of the last race. Even though Max had the fast tyres, Lewis had the best car and would defend his position in a track where is tough to overtake.
But I agree that more michael moments should be here, his crash with Coulthard is a classic for example.
Yes even the 2012 Brazil gp
For shear spectacle, it’s hard to beat the start of the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix.
m soo happy to see my favorite sport growing so rapidly
More F1 content, Mojo! Top 10 jaw-dropping overtakes, unexpected starts, beautiful curve executions....
I CAN"T BELIEVE YOU PUT FORMULA 1 ON THIS CHANNEL!! I AM SO HAPPY! KEEP IT COMING!
THE WHEELS JUST POPPED OFF!
Good picks well done video
It’s about damn time more of this please
WELL THAT WAS DRAMATIC!
So glad that one of my favourite channels has done a video about my favourite sport!
Number one for me is the way Max Verstappen won the title. I was in a bar and everybody thought he lost it. Only to have him win the title in the end
Yeah because a clown (that later got fired) made an embarrassing mistake.
It’s great to see F1 finally getting the recognition it deserves in the mainstream and for someone who’s started watching in 2002 literally as a 9 year old, this is awesome
Number 1 is the best choise. Theres no other moment like that in F1 history. We lived the best season of all time in 2021.
this should have been a top 20 at least
closest finish was schumi and barichello with a gap of 0.059 seconds in hungary 2002, also one of the sickest pictures ever
We need a Top 50 Most Dramatic F1 Moments
Y’all should do a version of this for NASCAR right off the bat I can think of 20, they’re going to Cota this weekend which is an f1 track so
Being a Brazilian who never saw a Brazilian crowned champion (I was 2 years old when Senna won 91), 2008 Massa’s lost still haunts me to this day. Never was able to watch f1 again, heart was way too much broke.
"This is FANTASTIC!" LOL!
This list is rubbish no way Abu Dhabi as most drama than fights like Schumi vs Hakkinen or Prost Senna after his move to Ferrari, or Alonso vs Ham vs Kimi etc. this is just rubbish influenced by DTS
Come on! Senna deserved more than one mention!!! Watchmojo should make a video only with him! The best!!!
that #1 is really making my goosebumps when Crofty says, "but the championship! can only be won by [one] and it's going dutch in 2021! Max Verstappen is a world champion etc..."
Thank You! This will introduce more people into the best sport in the world!
God your pronouncements. Preeeuuust???? What's Preust? It's PROST!!!! Pure and simple
Where the hell is the 2012 Brazilian GP?
Lel, no Kubica humongous crash in Canada in 2007, where year later he won on that track and Grosjean big crash at T1 in Spa (2012, I think?), where he could kill Alonso, which was one of the reasons of inventing the halo system 🙄
Amazing video watchmojo finally something about F1 and motorsports and I'm a big fan of motorsport!!!!! We want a video about the WRC rally championship!!!
Do a WRC rally championship video!!
Mojo and F1 what a day to be alive 😂😂😂
No Rosberg v Hamilton duel in Bahrain 14? Shame on y’all!!

I'd say that the most dramatic moment in F1 history was the death of Jim Clark and the eventual championship victory of his teammate Graham Hill that same season.
Clark's death was at hockenheim so shocking that even the famously cold and emotionless lotus team boss colin chapman was taken aback and broke down in tears at the news that his close friend (and star driver) had been killed.
This event left the team in complete disarray, they'd lost their lead driver and with chapman not knowing what to do to remedy the situation hill took it upon himself too rescue the morale of the team by becoming the guiding light that clark had been teaching him to become once he left lotus at the end of his contract.
Hill won the race that weekend and then put on a spectacular show of determination throughout the rest of the season too make a surprising come from behind championship victory possible, it was the ultimate cinderella season and it marked hill out as a legend in the making.
It was something that hill's own son damon would have to do 25 years later when ayrton senna was killed and sir frank williams placed all his faith in him by promoting him to lead driver despite having only been promoted to a full time race seat from a position as test driver just three months earlier at the request of senna himself.
I LOVE F1! :D
I totally agree that the 2021 Max win the championship was the most dramatic F1 race ever. I saw the race live and it was intense. I was happy that Max won. He deserve it
Alessandro Nannini eventually won the 1989 Japanese Grand Prix, while Alain Prost secured the 3rd world championship and Ayrton Senna was disqualified for illegally rejoining the track by cutting the chicane.
"Driven" and "Rush" are the best F1 movies
The F1 moment I will never forget was "NO MIKEY NO NO MIKEY THAT WAS SO NOT RIGHT!" They gotta get some fangear for that.
Whoever did that list doesn't know about f1. They didn't include senna death. Grosjean crash should have been an entry as nobody had ever seen a crash like that in modern times. Lewis and max crash at sliverstone and monza. 1998 Belgian grand prix crash. Schumacher parking in monoco 2006. Jerez 1997 when 3 cars had the exact same time for pole position. Lauda crash in 1976. Alonso and Hamilton hungry 2007. They are just at the top of my head
Senna vs Prost 1989 Japanese Grand Prix will always be the most talked race in F1 history. Everyone has their opinion. As for me, Senna should have won, but Prost was just a crybaby who has the support of the FIA President (who is French).
Great video! More F1 content is very welcome!

But we could go racing.
We could talk about racing.
We actually met Jules.
and we both cried together.
