I still remember watching the 2018 Singapore GP. Everyone was expecting Hamilton around P5 and I thought the battle for pole would be between Verstappen and Vettel. As I Verstappen fan myself I was watching it with such excitement since it looked like he could finally grab his first pole. But then that one lap, everyone was just stunned by it. It was a magical lap by Hamilton. I remember watching it and not being able to believe it. How did he accomplish that? It was truly a moment of magic by Hamilton.
Hamilton has had some of the best drives, ever. And it’s not just when there were difficult circumstances for everyone in the track, it’s the fact that when it was hard for everyone, he drove well and then drove better. Silverstone 2008 is in my mind the greatest wet drive of all time. To think if there was a few more laps he would have lapped the whole field, even 2nd place. Still, what an unprecedented drive for only your 2nd year in F1.

It is obvious you are a new F1 fan, saying that his statistics make him the greatest ever. Thats not how F1 works. Well, statistically he is, but he is not solely Responsible for it. Different car different stats, different team mate different stats, more competition from other teams different stats. It means many variables have influence on the stats. This is to differentiate to non-team sports like tennis or snooker, where the player is 100% responsible for succes. Please note the difference. I dont intend to downgrade his skill though :)
Lewis Hamilton is the reason I started watching F1. I saw him interviewed on Top Gear and The Daily Show. I started to watch the sport because I didn't even know who he was. His story intrigued me.

The strange thing about his McLaren career is that during their time together Jensen Button scored more points. That's not to say that Jensen was *better* than Lewis, not even Jensen thinks that, but it's a sign of the inconsistency that Lewis has worked to eradicate since.
@@kevinjohnbetts Jenson only scored 15 more pts overall, but Lewis was only inconsistent in 2011. If his McLaren wasn't more unreliable and he didn't have many unlucky races that other drivers crashed into him when in some of them he was gonna win the race (like crashes with Grosjean, Maldonado, Webber, Button, Hulkenberg) he should've basically beat button by around 100pts and won one of those championships between 2010 to 2012. Even if in his last race Hulkenberg didn't end his race, he would've still scored more points.
@@ParhamAz Maybe, but Jensen was in the same car and had his own share of ill-fortune (the 2011 World Championship could have been his with a little more luck). Again I don't believe Jensen was/is better than Lewis but they were closer than anyone expected when Jensen joined McLaren even if it's arguable that Lewis should have scored more points. I would add that Lewis has had the accusation of inconsistency levelled at him by Nico Rosberg, maybe others if memory serves but I'm not going to Google dozens of pages just to make that point. Hamilton himself acknowledges that his time at McLaren was troubled, that he was capable of putting in the fast laps but not always the full races. Worth remembering that Jensen was 10 years into his F1 career when he joined McLaren whereas Lewis was only 3 years in and that experience gap probably showed, Just my opinion of course. Btw I am a big fan of Lewis but Jensen has a special place in my heart, largely because I stopped watching F1 around the same time that Jensen's career started tailing off. The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix is a personal favourite for all those reasons. I wonder if Lewis will be motivated enough to try for three more F1 World Championships and whether that record could be matched. Who knows? 🙂

If you want to give that credit to someone , be it Alonso . Vettel & Hamilton had better cars in 2010-12 . Alonso lead them many times in a tractor . ie why many racing pundits place Alonso together with Hamilton even if the no of titles are far less .
His performance in Brazil 2021 belongs somewhere on this list. In Quali, he snatched P1. Got sent to P20 by the stewards. Fought his way up to P5 in the Sprint. Then was set back to P10 for the start of the race. During the race, Max was doing what he could to keep Lewis behind, but Lewis proved to us all that you can beat him up and he still won't back down. He then went on to win in Qatar and Jeddah to break even with Max for the grand finale. No one can deny that Lewis could have won his 8th title had it not been for the questionable decision-making during the safety car period. I also believe his team missed the opportunity of putting him on fresh rubber so that he could put up a better fight against Max in the final lap. Lewis has rewritten the history books in such a powerful way. He had great cars and teams to help him get there. On the other hand, you need a great driver to drive a great car. If you were to put me in those great cars, I may just damage the car and hurt other drivers around me. Lewis isn't infallible, but he is far from ordinary. I don't root for just one driver in particular. It is amazing to see Max win. Watching Leclerc fly through the streets of Monaco is exhilerating. Carlos Sainz becoming a race-winner. So, he is very much a WDC without mercedes. In the same car, over his career he has beaten 3 WDCs - Alonso (finished equal on points, but outqualified him), Button (Out qualified and out raced him over the cumulative of 3 seasons), Rosberg (also out qualified and out raced him over 3 seasons). Schumacher never had such team mates. Neither did Vettel. They never had a challenge in the fastest car. Hamilton had, and came out on top. Mercedes won the constructors most if not every year after the hybrid engine change, and almost all of those years as well their drivers won WDC. Sure, he could definitely win a couple, but no way 7, especially with most of them being in a row. Even just looking at him now, without a incredibly superior car he's been floating around 5-7th place, only claiming a podium in Bahrain because both Red Bulls DNF'ed. Not bad by any means, but not podiuming every race he didn't DNF like in years past. Much of Mercedes’ success has coincided with that of mercurial driver Lewis Hamilton. In terms of race wins, he is by far the most successful member to have donned the Silver Arrows overalls. It is, therefore, surprising that when asked about their favourite driver, the engineering staff at the team did not take the name of the 36-year-old. The Brackley Brothers - Andrew Shovlin, James Vowles, Ron Meadows, and Simon Cole - were present on F1’s podcast called Beyond the Grid. They have had a long haul at the team, having been present since it was BAR, then Honda, then Brawn GP, and finally, Mercedes. For them, German legend Michael Schumacher is the best driver they have worked with. “Michael Schumacher, but mainly because I was in the awe of him before he arrived and when he left the team, I was even more in the awe of him just because of how he behaved and treated all the team members,” said Ron Meadows. “Is Lewis listening? Does he listen to your podcast?” Simon Cole asked with a little chuckle. “I would say Michael Schumacher, not just because it’s sort of the common theme, but because he was genuinely impressive when we worked with him.” Chief strategist Vowles had a similar opinion. He spoke about how Schumacher completely changed his initial perception of him. “I would go with Michael because I had a perception that was entirely wrong of him before he joined,” he said.“I thought he was arrogant, I thought he was cold because that’s the impression you got. It took me just minutes before I realized that’s not true.“ And his greatness really shone in that period where we were with him and we learned a lot from him. ”It is tough to leave out Jenson Button as far as engineer Shovlin is concerned. They duo formed an impressive partnership that saw Button win the world championship in 2009. For Shovlin, it was tough to look beyond Button. “I can’t leave Jenson out, can I? I saw, as an engineer, I was learning on-the-job very much with him and just a lot of happy memories and funny moments.”

Even if you post a Top 50 it will never complete the number of moments of sheer brilliance in Lewis Hamilton's career. Just amazing! Hope he never stops...
People argue it's the car not him winning all the GP's and World Championship titles. Well, maybe the car did, to some degree, BUT, you have to be able to operate the best car, it's not operating on it's own. Maybe the car was allways technically more advanced then the other ones on the grid, so be it. But as a driver, you have to be able to squeeze out the last bit of tenth, hundreds and even thousands of a second, and that's exactly what he did over the last years. He deserves far more respect for what he achieved!
Also, look at Lewis’s instincts during races, his tire management, his overtaking and his patience! All things human error champion doesn’t have! Yes he drove a well engineered car for many years but so did his teammates! How come they didn’t do the things Lewis did? How come they couldn’t drive in the wet like Lewis? Same ‘magical Mercedes’, yet no one can answer that! Lewis drove next to THREE WDC without fear and beat or equal them in the same car! Can Max beat a WDC teammate? We will never know!
He did brill joining mclaren in 2007 and then led the team into one of the greatest success stories ever, like Schumacher did with joining the struggling ferrari after leaving the championship winning bennetton. Then he joined mercedes, built the team up from the grounds, laid the essential foundations, and another success story. Also as a person he made sure to focus on racing and keep politics where it belongs, outside the race track. His lifestyle has been the crowining of his great personality that beats even ones like Michael Jordan. A true inspiration for generations to come.

Then was set back to P10 for the start of the race. During the race, Max was doing what he could to keep Lewis behind, but Lewis proved to us all that you can beat him up and he still won't back down.
He then went on to win in Qatar and Jeddah to break even with Max for the grand finale. Maturing is realizing Hamilton is the best driver and that it isnt just his car
Maturing is realizing that his car plays a huge role in his success, just as it does with every other driver. Hamilton would be nothing without Mercedes, just like Schumacher would be nothing without Ferrari, or Vettel without Red Bull. All the front-runners are around equal in terms of actual driving skill, it just depends on whether or not they have the car to take advantage of that skill.
@@robot3759 "Hamilton would be nothing without Mercedes" -
2007, lost by 1 point, also because of his team's tactics and problems.
2008 - Won the championship in Mclaren.
2009 - Drove a tractor and led it to podiums, and when it got better in terms of pace, won the very first race with it, until he DNF'd due to technical issues and season was over.
2011 - The only non RedBull pole and it was by Hamilton.
By far the best wet weather driver of his generation, no one even comes close. Wet weather negates the superiority of the car and demands higher skill from the driver.
Its hard to say, but even Vettel in a Ferrari (even when his Ferrari was better ) couldn't beat Hamilton.
@@rfhsgaming1938 Oh don't get me wrong, Hamilton is no doubt one of the greatest drivers of the late 2000s and 2010s, but there's no doubt in my mind that he would not be a x7 WDC without Mercedes.
You could argue that it's just he's getting old like Alonso, Vettel, and Raikkonen and can't keep up anymore, but it wouldn't explain his extremely dominant performances just a year earlier.
This got old quickly. Enjoy sitting behind Gasly

I dunno how Lewis doesn’t get his credit because he’s clearly the greatest f1 driver of all time. If you don’t like him that’s ok. I don’t like Schumacher but I can’t deny he’s one of the best ever
I was a Hakkinen fan back then but Micheal is one of the greatest drivers!
“I would say Michael Schumacher, not just because it’s sort of the common theme, but because he was genuinely impressive when we worked with him.”
Chief strategist Vowles had a similar opinion.
I saw, as an engineer, I was learning on-the-job very much with him and just a lot of happy memories and funny moments.”
yes. Lewis, Michael and Seb. True GOATS
Michael is so clear of Hamilton. But yea, Hamilton is definitely top 3 of all time can’t deny that👍

People keep saying "it's the car". Yeah, nah. It's not. Sir Lewis Hamilton really is that great.
We think..
the car dosent makes the driver if the driver has the talented he will push the car to his limits
Absolutely, especially considering his McLaren days. That drive at Silverstone was incredible
Hamilton is a well talented racer still plenty to offer
Turkey 2020 proved it, car not suited to track, but Hamilton just about the only driver not to spin, takes the win whilst the best his team-mate can do in the same car is 14th!
Not only is this guy a genius and arguably the best F1 driver in history but he is also the most charismatic and wholesome one together with Ricciardo.
Hamilton is one of the only F1 champions with no children.
Even if you post a Top 50 it will never complete the number of moments of sheer brilliance in Lewis Hamilton's career. Just amazing! Hope he never stops...
I may not be a fan, but this guy deserves every bit of respect for what he has achieved through sheer grit, determination and talent.
Why aren't you a fan, might I ask? Just solely curiosity
he doesn't have a Michael Schumacher trying to beat him every week....So it's a bit easier for Lewis.... he's definitely the man to beat in F 1
It's 2021 and i believe Redbull crew still confuse how Lewis got an extreme pace in Singapore Qualifying...
