Finally the time has come to face Lao-Shan Lung in MHGU solo. Might be one of the biggest monsters I've seen in Monster Hunter. Included the build

respect to everyone that plays this game solo, u guys are truly built different
Every time I think of playing through the game again (I play solo) I usually think of Lao Shan and decide that hell isn't worth going through again.
I remember playing solo for a year without teammates thinking the game was solo. Played through majority of g rank and got all my gear solo. It was a relief when I realized there was multiplayer
Honestly its not bad. I did the thing solo and only struggled in the G5 deviants and the event quests. Event quest monsters have way more health haha
I beat gu solo once but I play multiplayer now ots tough as hell
Multiplayer is so inconvenient to set up that it's just better to play solo for most of the time.
As soon as I saw the length of the video and lao's face, I knew this was gonna be a one way trip to fun town LMAO
GU is the ultimate fanservice for all oldschool hunters out there... All the memorable monsters in one game... (except for a certain floating blob of moss)
And a mountain sized snake and an apocalyptic volcano dragon
I remember doing this fight as well, hated every second of trying it solo
Yeah, trying to fend off Lao-Shan by yourself is a nightmare, because it's primarily about using gathering points to restock your siege weapons (which exist separately per player, i.e. the total damage you can do effectively scales with player count).
Also, I was doing it as a Prowler (Earplugs=yes, Pro Transporter=NO) and even once I got a good strategy going I still only managed to get a repel. (BTW, did you know Prowlers can hunt Yian Garuga in G2 while hunters must wait for G3? It's a guaranteed intruder in one of the Prowler quests)
...and I work in grocery retail, so yes, I empathize when you say "customer service". I don't seem to field many unhappy campers myself, but I do hear stories here and there....
As for what happens after the Lao-Shan siege? Let's just say that what you saw in the cinematic wasn't wrong, and leave the rest for that final urgent quest.
PS: Naja X is one of my absolute favorite armor designs.

I did this solo at first myself because nobody wanted to help me do it 😐
The strategy I used was just brute force; I think I used Valstrax armor and the Valstrax DBs with Wolf's Maw and just carved him up the entire fight. I did manage to flat out slay him by the end.
Also as I mentioned before - a lot of people don't actually know about this - but the reason why Lao seemed to handle that Dragonnator really well is because it didn't actually do the max amount of damage to him.
What you're *supposed* to do is get him to stand up on 2 legs, let him get as close as possible as he can to the stronghold, then make him stagger. He'll stagger and support himself on the stronghold for a good minute. This is when you're supposed to run over and hit the Dragonnator for maximum damage.
No wonder almost everyone avoids Lao Shan quest. I mean if I have a better wifi connection (or even have one) I could help people *killing* him since I do like doing this mission.

Yeah me too. He was a pain to solo in fu(from like 7 tries I never killed him and he won 3) but here I can kill him with ease. Is super nerfed here but still. Wandering Dragon is best big dragon.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite fights to do with friends, we’ll bring a bunch of ranger weapons and just have a blast. We normally have 2 heavy bow guns, 1 light bowgun, and me as a bow user. It’s actually incredibly tense in the second phase, especially when I’m backed against the wall with the dragonator against lao

i've learned (by happy accident) that in Area 2, if on his hind legs, Lao Shan Lung might blow you away with his breath attack (that does damage you), which is a gust of wind he exhales.

I got the luckiest Lao hunt ever. I ran out of heavy ordinance (I didn't know that there were ballista bolts and cannonballs in the storeroom) when there were like 1 and 1/2 minutes left and the fortress was at 20 ish percent, and he did the body slam for a minute and a half which allowed me to repel
The lore of Lao is that it's basically fleeing from Fatalis because even elder dragon's fear it's power. You have stop Lao because it's going straight towards kokoto village. In GU however, Lao is fleeing from the "final" boss. Also side note, I love how they put parts of kokoto's theme in Fatalis' theme in World.
He was just having a walk since here is never stated he was running away from neither Fatalis or Ahtal Ka and because of his errant nature. In unite is stated that he is indeed running away from Fati but Ahtal have nothing to do with Lao(by lore is always moving do to Fatalis preys on him and because of food purposes).

first time i did this hunt solo idk how but i managed to repel it, after that i bought nintendo switch online so that i dont have to hunt it solo ever again
I had to watch gaijin hunters video while doing this hunt at the same time. when I finished a segment I would pause the game and see what gaijin did next and try to copy that to a T. luckily I got some good drops in just 1 hunt and was able to make his chargeblade.
This guy takes me soooo loooong to defeat. Seven try! Im so bad at this fight.
just finished hunting this big boi few minutes ago...
ngl, me and my friend didn't have much hope about repel it let alone slaying it because of it's only two of us as gunners...
but we made it, and it feels sooooo satisfying because the last hit was mine with normal s lvl 2 🤣
sadly this one of the quests i really hated because it's very stressful.... I had toncreate an customized armor to kill this giant dragon...the thing is you can kill it whicheverv way you wan just choose which method will work for you... in my case I tried both i killed it with the cannons and balista and I killed it using a longsword
I hated this quest so much. I always forgot to bring tremor resistance, I never used the cannon always went for the left foot with valor charge blade lv. 1 chainsaw blade move.
The best mistake was not attacking him at all, with the sword of course. But this is your first and probably the last so I don't really blame you. Not flexing but even if he doesn't look like he is completely soloable and compared to the liked of stupid Gravios, Raging Braquidios and Deviants is more easy and I'll pick errant dragon any day of the week rather than the few ones I mention.
Sorry I'm late, I used to play Evolution Worlds a lot. These people live with and use Cyframes to their advantage and the song is the theme from the city of Museville during the second half of the game!
I never finished it. I first played both of the original ones for the Dreamcast because they were separate games then. Then on Gamecube they took out some dungeons and mixed the two games together.
Oooo, gotcha. I wish that I could have played the original. The gamecube one was good, so I'd like to see how it would be with everything in it

Lao Shan was stressful to solo indeed
ua-cam.com/video/_TnFCxKhuEU/v-deo.html This guide by Gaijin Hunter is pretty good, though a key note to add is that when using the Dragonator, let Lao-Shan Lung put both hands on the fortress first and then hit the button, which will stun him even longer and conveniently put his head right next to the button to let you wail on it.
That's one of the videos I watched (and then forgot so much the moment I hit the record button lol) but I wish I knew all the skills he had because I think he was using armor you can only get after this hunt.

You actually can get armor with all those skills before G3. Those being HG Earplugs, Pro Transporter and Artillery Expert.
Rhenoplos Helm X, Loc Lac Shawl X, Najarala Braces X, High Metal Tassets X and High Metal Greaves Z. Then you just have to fit in decorations in the slots.
hey Uno, hope all is well... looks like I'm catching up to you I just got to G2 like a day ago but still trying to lvl up a few weps because when I fought barroth it took me way too long to kill him plus he's really annoying with that "sike I lied" move to get you to dodge one way and then he turns the way you just dodged to hit you.. ugh... be yeah still playing Aerial IG and getting better with it cause I just learned that the aerial vault has I frames which I didn't know so now I'm trying to learn to master that .
I think he was just an annoying match up for me. Especially if you accidently hit the head and bounce off. I hear aerial IG is pretty amazing.
@@Uno_Hunter the thing I like about GUs kinsects are they all give you different type of buffs… so the one I use after upgrading it of course give me mind’s eye when I grab white… it also give me movement up I guess like what self improvement does for the HH, it give me double up + so when I have two extracts they last a lil longer… I forget the exact number and it also increases my kinsect flying speed.. so I mainly use that one although I’ve made a few other ones that give different buff. I wouldn’t mind if they brought this concept back into a future game.
what sucks was you can't sleep on this quest you have really beat his ass and no time to waste

But fuck this Fight, its basically Kulve Phase 1 for dont know 35 Minutes? Dont think the entire Fight is as long as FUs Version.
9:00 but you can load three Loads of Ammo at once, not just two. And you can put them in eighter Hole.

I kinda want to look up a fastest time co-op. I bet some people are crushing him in the second area.
My first time doing this solo it was simply to get him repelled and I managed to do that pretty decently the second time I kind of did a gaijin guide, lol.
I'm at a point now where I kind of know what to expect but still every so often I do mess up.
Don't even stress if you mess up on this it's one of those things that it takes a little practice even when you see guides or tips online. I still have memories of doing this on the PSP trust me that one was a pain in the butt!!!
I think if I went not with my meme weapon lol and attacked it more I could have killed it.

@@Uno_Hunter it's a good thing that my bro and i manage to beat it, but now that i am soloing the game. Clearing the quests i'm now more focusing in knowing what skills can make the hunt easier. Also congrats on repelling giant Rathalos Uno

I have played through GU solo twice, and never managed to kill this sucker, always had to repel him by timing out the quest.. Awful, just awful

This fight is easy as piss with a dragon bow and bombs lol
So if ya hunters from the new world fights Fatalis IB in Castle Schrade, so like the new world is freakin close to where MHGU or any game that has a Castle Schrade. Its not all new world thing
