don't look now but your dedication and dexterity are showing. Being able to hold the camera and start the threads on a bolt is amazing. Keep up the great videos.
I can’t drive a Tacoma to small for me but I’m impressed with your meticulous work on each and every Tacoma you work on. I haven’t missed an episode yet.
You can always add some large washers to shim the mounts to get the body lines straight. On my F250, I had to cut some of the poly bushings to get the cab to sit right with the bed. With the body lift, are you going to raise the transmission more? It could help with engine angle.
Every Toyota body lift I did was just a puck spacer. Those were all 84-89 trucks done in the 90s. These new modern trucks are different. Lol. We always did 2 or 3” body lifts.
Did u notice a slighter stiffer steering after the body lift and installing that steering rod spacer? Did the same daystar 1" body lift and i have stiffer steering now. Nothing bad, no weird noises or anything. Just notice steering is stiffer
So is the daystar a compete kit that also replaces the standard cab mount bushings? I was gonna buy a Energy Suspension cab mount bushing kit as my OEM bushings are toast. Do I need both or just the DayStar?
Does it frustrate you that these kits don't come with metric hardware? Seems ridiculous that they add additional complexity of drilling out holes when they could have sourced the same diameter bolt.
I bet if you tightened the nuts on the bolt they will smesh/squish enough to get a full nut on them?? I'm sure they should lock on properly?? But hey i'm just watchin' !! You could be correct ok !
My personal opinion you should had went with a 3" bodylift since you went through all the work removing things, you would had gained enough lift with a 3" bodylift that you could had increased bigger tire size without any rubbing most people run off to get suspension lifts thinking they are going to fit on 33" tires till they realize they willbe trimming & chopping to get 33" tires on without rubbing, best setup is to do 3" bodylift & a 3" suspension it will give the clearance to put 33" tires on without the rubbing & no chopping or trimming required.
Had a body lift on my 99 Tacoma and every cab mount hole ripped and the whole cab would shift over at every turn scary as fuck. Had to re weld all the cab hols and dropped it back down to stock body lifts are never a good idea
I’ve had multiple body lifts on Toyota’s and never had an issue. I know a guy who did a 6” body lift on his for about 2 yrs. then swapped a 350 into it and built his own custom lift. Sounds like your cab mounts were weak to start with.
I'd give a big thumbs down on this kit too if for no other reason than shipping imperial size hardware on a kit that only works on a metric vehicle - especially on a $200+ kit. All the other issues just add to the thumbs down. The only plus is the spacer for the steering.
Rebuild the transmission... you won't be happy if you don't. I see changes... something.. you are not going to live with things being out of alignment. I know I wouldn't be happy with it.
I've never understood the point to or the benefit of a body lift. Why not just go an inch and a half higher with the suspension lift??? Seems like a lot of work to add stress to lines and connections. Pointless.
One of the best trucks ever built, and your making it even better. good work.
At 2:46 it looks like the body line on the cab/bed was off before the lift was installed.
Could be!

Haha that’s the hardest part of the job 😂

I would like to see the transmission rebuilt. With the extra torque from the diesel it would probably make sense. Nice build so far!
When flipping the bushes would that not have messed with the body lines not matching?🤷♂️. Loving the build 👌
No flipped the other way would drop the cab 1/2”
That Tocama truck is looking awesome I'm really enjoying the show

I could! I am happy with the angle of the engine now!
Another great vid. I am even more inspired to customize my Tacoma.
Would love to see the transmutation work done. I love the content! Keep it up!
Looks good at that height. Trans rebuild the best way to go.
Great segment as always. Love the build ❤️
You can tap those 6" bolts for more thread....too 👍

Sure post up the gearbox rebuild these videos are great one of my fav channels 🤙
Sick Build!!! where can I order that steering shaft spacer?
Did u notice a slighter stiffer steering after the body lift and installing that steering rod spacer?
Did the same daystar 1" body lift and i have stiffer steering now. Nothing bad, no weird noises or anything. Just notice steering is stiffer
No I don’t notice that at all!
That bumper gap would be a great Led light space??
So is the daystar a compete kit that also replaces the standard cab mount bushings? I was gonna buy a Energy Suspension cab mount bushing kit as my OEM bushings are toast. Do I need both or just the DayStar?
What about trimming the height of the bed mounts a bit? To level everything out?
Rebuild the trans, minus well go all out at this point. Very well done so far
the lift looks noice
Can't wait to see what happens next!
I know you sold this truck awhile back, but I am curious to know how long did it take you to install the 3 inch body lift on your truck.
What size tire can you fit with just the body lift please height and width?
What tdi did you use
Can you update the link for the body lift please
pros n cons for body lift.. thank u
Good job man keep up the good work love your videos
How much was it when ya rebuilt the trans on the old green truck?
Did you also do a suspension lift ?
Does it frustrate you that these kits don't come with metric hardware? Seems ridiculous that they add additional complexity of drilling out holes when they could have sourced the same diameter bolt.
Yeah a little annoying!
Up here in Back Bacon Land ( Canada ) we use Hockey pucks!!
Get lots of Free Pucks at games !!
Ehh... You can cut them thinner if you need that....
Was this a 1in or 3in body lift?
Nice work Austin.
Did you get a new frame
You can probably hog out the mount brackets and get the bumpers back to the right height.
I bet if you tightened the nuts on the bolt they will smesh/squish enough to get a full nut on them?? I'm sure they should lock on properly?? But hey i'm just watchin' !! You could be correct ok !
what engine is that?
omg, is that a VW TDI engine in there??
Looks really good.
Nice Job 👍
🔥🔥🔥
Make’s a nice difference
Rebuild the transmission bro that way u will know it’s done right and runs good with no leaks
CB, what does a transmission build have to do with a bodylift are you confused?
@@BurtBowers Austin said to comment down below if we wanna see him rebuild the transmission. Do you even watch his videos or you just troll comments?
Makes me miss my yota. 🥺
👏👏👏👏👏
If you rebuild the trans might as well film it. Would be worth while 👍🏻
The most rust free Toyota in the history of time.

have you put on a 3” body lift? if so was there any issues?
not a big fan of body lifts but this one looks kind of sick might have to put on my truck
So sick dude!!!!!!!
I would say something is off you probably didn't need to invert it, that's y your body lines off
If I didn’t flip them, it would net 1/2” lift and they would really be off!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Does not fit models with automatic transmission.
😱 OMG...That body line mismatch ?? 😉 OCD MUCH??
👍👊
Had a body lift on my 99 Tacoma and every cab mount hole ripped and the whole cab would shift over at every turn scary as fuck. Had to re weld all the cab hols and dropped it back down to stock body lifts are never a good idea
The other two trucks that he has done there wasn’t any issues
I’ve had multiple body lifts on Toyota’s and never had an issue. I know a guy who did a 6” body lift on his for about 2 yrs. then swapped a 350 into it and built his own custom lift.

good
👍🏽👍🏽
If your having minor problems with the tranny it might be worth doing it all. Also you have to wonder about cost??? Looking great. God Bless
if your thinking a lot about it then you know it needs to be done
If toyota had just made wider fender openings we would not need to do as much of this
Rebuild the transmission.
he has take of muscle!

I think motor/tranny clearance and angles is the main reason he is doing one
These yota ifs are limited to 3 inches of suspension lift before things start to bind.
Also this was done for hood clearance after his motor swap.
@aldoavak9 clearance , eng, tires, trans. Very common in eng swaps to do a body lift.
