rally racing is one of my favorite kinds of motorsports, and I always knew about pacenotes, but I never really imagined it to be so deeply involving and technical... this video illustrates that clearly.
Subaru's are crazy handling cars when set up just right. So much potential from a stock car to a Stage 2. Coilovers and Eibach sway bar/end link setup you're good to go for a good time on the street.

imo this impreza rally car is the best looking one EVER made.
On that model lancer, those mods probably made like 3-4 horsepower. Its probably the extra sound, that makes it seem faster

If you haven't notice, America has the most cars on the road in the world. Naturally, we would have more in number of cars that are equipped with MT, maybe not high in the MT/person category compared to other countries, but certainly much more MT cars on the road than Britain. O and btw, my first car was a stick :)

That's not fair, I'd like to see what he's like in a car like the Citroen. Solberg's input is one of the main reasons the new STI looks like it does, put the wheels to the corners he says, the old car seemed to always be dragging a big trunk through every corner.

No, no, no. WRC cars have something below 400hp, and torque is about 700Nm I think. You can read about the power of these cars somewhere on the official WRC website. There's an article about S2000+ cars which are about to have something around 350hp, which they say is lower than WRC cars.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. Although the older Impreza's will always be the best cars ever created ;D. I never really liked the Evo's much but as of which ones best... either 8 or 9. I think the newest Impreza and the Evo 10 are both not very good compared to previous cars.

the point is,the regulations say you can have only 300bhp, but there is plenty of torque ;)

Clutch > Torque converter. You can't even argue this point. That's the major reason. Control and predictability are others.
I don't care if people drive automatics, but anytime you try to substitute a torque converter for a clutch you are giving up some performance.
Not many people know what 2009 rally impreza will exactly be like... There are new regulations for 2009.
On a WRC car almost nothing is stock, the engine is nothing like stock and it's not 300bhp, rather something about 400bhp, has about 600 - 700 Nm of torque. Not to mention all features that affect the handling, which is the most important thing about a rally car. Compared to this even an STI pretty much sucks...

I don't really know why people bash automatics, I drive a 1MZFE powered automatic, and I've beat most of the other drivers around here. It's all about throttle control and watching your RPM's to make sure the computer shifts right.

Well, it is considerably cheaper and is proven to get more bang for the buck HP on a Evo than an STi. But As far as reliability goes, Evo isnt even a distant second or third.

@xXBifourXx I was pointing out that, to be that petty when the man obviously speaks three languages at least, is stupid. Anyone stutters when they're trying to think of the right word, even native born speakers sometimes repeat the same word when they're trying to think of a particular way of speaking / phrase / word.
The new one is too round. Don't get me wrong the ones in the early 90s are just epic. They were 'round' but they still had that damn sexy body. The one after this one was okay, but the front was getting too weird. The new one doesn't exists in my book. To me, Subaru dropped the Impreza so we only have these classic to oogle.

an intake abd catback for only $400? hmm doesn't sound legit. anywho, intakes for sti's vary from $125-$350. exhausts, depends on if you want catback or turboback. that should net you at least 30hp over stock, depending on your type of exhaust. and by the way, don't ever compare a lancer ralliart to an sti lol!
