You can change the bulbs. These should last about 15 years. As I say on my guide I would simply cut down and add trim to hide wires if I do it again.

Yes it has grippers at the top.

What’s the flooring at the top of the stairs please ? Is it the same carpet ?

that was the old carpet. I have now replaced the landing carpet with a similar colour one.
