@@foreverwhisper I don’t know from where you got the idea that taxes will prevent the vehicle’s release in the US. It is absolutely slated to come to the States.
@@jamespotts8372 at least tariff prevents the Chinese EVs, very effectively. Also considering polestar is owned by Volvo until recently they sold shares to Geely, and Volvo is owned by Geely.
I have a Polestar 2 first edition for 3 1/2 years now. Would possibly consider this if the twin motor was £55k. At these prices I’ll be buying elsewhere. Even to replace my P2 would cost £59k at the moment, crazy! Polestar have lost the plot with pricing, I can’t see them selling loads.

I think I understand why they’d want the rear view mirror gone but I’m not 100% sure if think it’s a good idea. I’m just trying to think of the pros and cons of it compared to cars with it

this is a well designed car. Probably I would want the headlights to be a little bigger but the design is damn fine.
This reminds me a lot of the HiPhi Y (without the wing doors)

Brands are just changing things for the sake of changing and some design options are just baffling.
No rear window has a lot of drawbacks and it even gives more light in a darker back seat.
They go to the trouble of adding a huge button in the centre of the console, and it just changes volume??? Why?
Not to talk about the missing physical controls for crucial functions!
But it gives you a bigger piece of glass above your head so you can see the stars better at night and a camera instead of a mirror which gives you a grainy picture at night with no depth perception. What's not to like! (sarcasm) 😅
Consider yourself lucky they kept the wheel ! 60K is so cheap these needed to be cut ! /s

Camera don’t fails lol. Had polestar 2 for many years not a single failure in a camera. Also have a Tesla 3 2019. 5 years soon. Not a single camera failure either in this one.
You still have sensors. Vans and trucks have no rear window either..

This is not an suv
Test if you get the annoying LED flicker from the rear view camera. This has been the biggest issue with the camera for mirrors on HGVs that have them. 🤠

From a safety perspective, the dependence on the touch screen, lack of physical controls and rear window make this car potentially very unsafe should the touchscreen or cameras stop working. Calling it a crossover or SUV is also a falsehood - its a coupe.
You do realise that most higher end cars for the last 10 years have had one central system but older people are just scared of the touch screens because now it’s obvious 😂
I don’t understand this logic. You do realize work vans have relied on backup cameras for decades now right? If the backup camera on a work van goes out, do they all immediately crash and burn?
Google assistant is very good, you dont need to touch the screen at all, just ask the car to do stuff for you and 95%+ of the time it works just the way you want it to

These EVs are killing the re-sale market, see, when you buy a petrol car with high mileage you don't think about how many times the previous owner refilled the car...but with an EV, you BETTER watch that, cause the fast chargers kill the battery faster, and the amount of cycles too. you can repair a fuel pump/tank pretty much anywhere, you wont be able to change the entire battery pack when it's dead for cheap believe me.
FOr those who own EVs here, how is the maintenance like? There's so much more electronics compared to an old combustion car, so does that mean repairs will cost more / take longer? How about after the 10 year mark, will maintenance costs snowball just like combustion cars?
I have a Model Y. After 30K : nothibg to do. A friend changed his first brakes after 150k because he did not use them enough. It is a relief to not worry about inspections and so on. I had one issue with a rubber seal at the door. Tesla came to my home, changed it and they drove away with me noticing it

I have a model Y since 2 years, it has been very reliable. Did nothing to it except changing the tires after 15k kms. The original Model Y tires are pretty low end. I had a first gen BMW i3 for 7 years before that and it had a couple minor hiccups but nothing major. After 9 years of EV ownership, I would only consider owning a Tesla now as other manufacturers charging infrastructure is a joke, not reliable at all. Plus Tesla has the best value and is extremely practical.
@@robinlarabi you are right especially when you consider the price, charging infrastructure and the storage space. I have no idea how MY boot space is nearly doubled then other EVs.
@@steveny9972 Tesla can get away with using smaller batteries as they have better driving efficiency and no range anxiety due to a reliable supercharger network. This save weight and space in the boot. Compare the 100kwh battery of this polestar to the 77kwh battery of a Model Y. Smaller battery also makes the car cheaper.

Wait until people realise the future of cars is no front window as well; fully autonomous driving with vr/ar to the outside. The Apple Vision pro was made because Apple is making a car that has no windows.

Removing the rear window is just stupid. I'm sure a camera rear view is better than nothing but it's not in 3D and certainly doesn't substitute being able to see out of the back.

Would be nice to understand a bit more on the battery architecture and buildup on EV reviews - what voltage it uses and composition, if there are any differnece sbetween packages and if there are what advantages/disadvantages each has.
Also the side fo car said 400kW rather than suggested 200kW, not sure which is correct here?

Reckon polestar ought to reduced the price range for all their models. Their sales is quite bad all over the world. I reckon if they lowered the prices slightly below those of Tesla they may attract more sales…..I think:)

The lack of rear window is gonna make people feel uncomfortable because cameras are never precise at showing the same perspective as the real mirror.
Really Polestar! Cars behind won't be able to see the high level brake lights of the cars ahead of it.

Sorry for novice question but how EVs are better then regular cars if they cost twice as much and public chargers are expensive?
They aren't that the whole problem. Also, good luck selling a used EV, since the battery degrades pretty fast if you don't follow the 20-80% rule...and even if you follow it, it will still degrade.
Charging at home is very cheap. Also less maintenance for some manufacturers. Some electric cars are pretty cheap too. Not all battery degrades badly if you take care of them, there are plenty of Teslas going strong in the 300k-500k kms range... EVs also offer a better driving experience...
65k for a basic model! Cmon most of people couldn't afford them prices for an electric car with that sort of price
When i take my Goldens with me, I fold the rear seats down….so the dogs look out the side windows.

NMC are lighter and hold their charge in colder temperature. 100kwh is excessive though, driving efficiency must be pretty bad on this

The challenge with Volvo and Polstar is always about price, they are very expensive. Single motor Poestar 4 cost same price as Model Y performance, who is gonna buy that?

Far to big for uk parking spaces and no rear window how the hell did it get signed off and passed legally!!! This will cause major issues when reversing and the fact you can turn the rear view mirror off again dangerous
You have a 360 degree camera for parking. Most rear windows of SUVS are so high up and tiny you wont see the hood of the car behind you anyways when reversing. Not an issue at all. Camera is better even.
UK is full of wans that have no rear windows and that are bigger than this…. What is the problem?

Instant no. Video feeds instead of rear mirrors are awful. It results in you having to constantly adjust your focus when flipping from looking out on the distant road to looking to at a video feed 30cm from your face.
It's crazy how car manufacturers who spend millions on these designs completely miss basic ergonomics

And also my friends Taycan have bern in the shop for air suspension issues and when i rode my friends macan s , there were legit rattles and squeaks everywhere. Ive driven a Polestar 1 and own the 2 and their both quality. Porsche , your only paying for the badge
A camera gives a far better and wider view then a mirror on coupe cars.

💈⭐1 - Never seen one nor have I ever seen one for sale in the UK. And it's not even on their website.
💈⭐2 - Seems to be the only car we can currently buy to drive today in the UK.
💈⭐3 - Available in the UK from September to October 2024.
💈⭐4 - The car here. Available in the UK from August.

Their weird numbering system aside, the 💈⭐4 looks really nice. Better looking to the current 💈⭐2 which is a nice looking car and way better looking than the 💈⭐3 which, frankly, looks odd from the front.

Agree but that’s not entirely Polestar’s fault it’s UK tax this car is £45k in other countries even cheaper in China and US.
There are cheaper cars to buy. It's like looking at a BMW M5 and complaining it is expensive. None is forcing you to buy a new luxury / sports car. Get something used or a cheaper brand

360 miles claimed range is just a lie - 94kWh useable means it'll need to maintain 3.83miles per kWh to achieve this - you know it'll do more like 3miles per Kwh meaning 282 miles max...and that's in warm conditions!

Looks great but it's over priced. You ain't Porsche, Polestar. You can't charge those prices. Especially when you are building your cars in China and are owned by a Chinese company. An AWD Model Y is 63k and this is going to be 15k more? Maybe even more?

@@cmoto1710 I'm not a Tesla fan (in fact, the exact opposite) but the consumers have spoken on Polestar so far. People aren't buying into their sales pitch. Quite frankly, you can't just create a brand and think you are going to get a cult following willing to pay more for your product. Also, apparently Polestar has a lot of quality issues reported by buyers.
The only good thing of a electric car is the turbo. All other sucks because the reach is so pour.

Well it goes hand in hand. You need a powerful drivetrain to be able to have better regenerative braking which makes the car more efficient therefore having a longer range.
The pricing is just a scam. In Australia, yes the base model is cheaper than the competitors but it has nothing in the car that you want/need. So you have to add extra options and the price quickly adds up more than the competitors. Given that Polestar is still a new-ish brand, I think if they want to sell more cars then they should make it cheaper or give more instead of making the features an option extra.
To many shortcomings, imagine being a tall person and having to sit in the back etc...
