Not having a single button to switch between custom (user defined) and sport is dumb. They need to add that in a software update. One button, one click. I don’t want to have to navigate through screens. Ideally that button would be on the steering wheel but it’s too late for that. Also I agree about the key fob. It needs buttons. I mean most of the time I just use keyless entry but sometimes I need the buttons e.g. my partner is trying to get into the car and I’m still locking the front door, I can just click the button and she can get into the car. Seems cheap to remove the buttons. Also a new key fob makes the whole experience of owning the car nicer. I have an Audi and I like the key fob. It’s solid with metal parts and feels appropriate given the quality of the car. That fob that you showed us looked like a brick of plastic. Apart from those complaints though, that car looks fantastic. Good work polestar.

I am farsighted which means with and LCD screen my eyes need to focus on the screen which is about half a meter or less away. I won't be able to focus on it :(
Yup, that was my thought exactly after testing one. You can't quickly glance in mirror, you have to look and consciously refocus, which doesn't sound like much, but it is jarring and feels/is markedly slower. To make things worse the mirror feels much closer to you than normal which exacerbates the issue if you are long sighted. The mirror in our Enyaq is significantly further away.

Excellent unbiased review with super information that is tangible and real, yes, we'll take the single motor Polestar 4 option thankyou...as we've thoroughly enjoyed our Polestar 2 for the past few years.
The two keys the Polestar 2 comes with are fine, not sure why they felt the need to change the main key (which has buttons on the polestar 2) as it was essentially already the same key as any Volvo out there.
The key is the same design as the one that comes with the Volvo EX30, which also has no buttons. I presume that Polestar just chose to go the same route due to availability.
I’ve been to the HQ and they’re designed and developed in Sweden. Obviously still reliant on China for the battery however Volvo and polestar will have in house battery production soon. Thepolestar 3 will also be manufactured in California and the polestar 5 is being developed in the UK with lotus collaboration on the chassis and all the impressive driving dynamics they’re renowned for. So whilst Geely are Chinese, the entire dna from design to development is entirely polestar and then built up in China. Say what you want but you should test drive one and fall in love with the dynamics and balance of the brembos and the dual valve dampers.
It's a really great place to be. That car interior is pretty special. The 4 is generally too big for me, so I'd rather have a 2, but damn the interior feels like such a big step forward.
With the touch screens, no real buttons, cameras, and now no back window...they're just making things less comfortable to use and drive but they do it because they need to appear high tech.
Well that's basically how they market it. From the Polestar website: "Polestar 4 has been engineered to combine SUV comfort with sports coupe handling and performance, resulting in a balanced and highly responsive car. In fact, it's the quickest production Polestar to date."
Oooof, that laggy screen immediately put me off. I hate this trend of *all* controls being touch screen now but I accept times are a changin' and it keeps manufacturing costs down to have all controls run through a single point. However if the controls are 100% touch screen then a laggy screen isn't just annoying, it's potentially dangerous. Anything that extends the period of time you're not looking at the road is an issue. Kinda hoping as time goes on there will be minimum lag time standard brought in for in-car UIs
I test drove the new Polestar 2 single and dual motor this weekend and I had the same conclusion that the single motor was actually nicer to drive than the dual. However, I felt that both were pretty "boring" when it came to everyday driving. They just felt slow and sluggish. Sure, if you put your foot down, the dual motor would take off, but when just driving around like normal they both felt tired, with little excitement and fun. I also did not feel much difference between the single and dual motor in everyday city driving. They should definitely have a Sport mode button. I look forward to test drive the Polestar 4, but after seeing this I am not holding my breath.
I have performance version and it is not slow or sluggish. Without performance pack accelaration pedal is tuned for 'long press' mode, which I also felt is too slow reaction or you need to press quite a bit to get power. But decision is to get normal or performance and then you get what you want.
Amazing & innovative. Driver gets more visibility with the digital rear view mirror and more head space in the back seats. Can be a challenge getting used to but serves a nice purpose
The video mirrors are especially useless for tall drivers. Totally messes with your vision and focus, let alone the sun glare. My wife has one and I can only deal with it by focusing on the road, leaning to the right of the seat, and never using it, unless necessary.
Cameras for mirrors are only half useful if they are on all the time the car is occupied. What I don't want is a rear view mirror which only turns on when the car is switched on.
Tom the best Polestar 4 review, jour videos are so entertaining, keep it up with great work. Can't wait for Polestar to put 2 on a dedicated EV platform, and would love to see Polestar car like the Volvo S60 Cross Country :)
Looks better than the Lotus and the Macan. What will be a showstopper in Europe is the missing back window. I guess will be fixed with the next update.
One trend cars and EVs in particular are leaning towards that irks me is removing all the buttons in favour of having daily used features buried in touch screen menus. It can't be good for safety.
So it sounds like the P4 handles a bit like the P2 then (both have sprung suspension - not air suspension like the P3) - heavy, little bit of understeer, but well planted and very little body roll (with those heavy batteries on the deck, that's not really much of a surprise). Hopefully the P4 handles bumps and pot-holes better than the P2 ... I look forward to a test drive (August apparently ...) 🚗⚡💨😁
14:17 yeah I was never confident that something like this could be sporty. Its a daily, a commuter car. Will most likely have great road control but you wouldn’t buy this if you wanted a vehicle to he occasionally fun
Not very honest video, you should have clearly stated that it was not a fully working car, and that you review an updated one on minute 15:10, which is way better.
I drive a P2. Everyone in the car gets jostled on bad roads. unless polestar fixes the suspension to be electronically adjustable, i wont buy one. It is TOO BUMPY
I own the Polestar 2 performance pack (or my own version of it with a set of Heico coilovers and OZ wheels and Pilot Sport 4ses). I think so far its the only Polestar I like and want to keep. Other than not needing any bigger the performance/range bump is not worth the extra money. Also am not a fan of SUVs in general. So far I like the Polestar 4s over other EVs in its class (other than the Macan EV), but I don't see the making the monetary sacrifice to jump from my Polestar 2 to this. On top of liking the Polestar 2 looking more like an evil Volvo, this looks more like an appliance. I think I'd rather look for a second-hand Macan EV in the future though.
I hope they did something with the suspension, and shock system. When I rode in one. Every single bump was horrible. It was like the car wheels, was welded straight to the frame horrible. Like an early carriage.
Maybe you drove performance version and maybe shocks were adjusted to be hard... but it is sporty car anyway and not supposed to be soft. And if you really want soft car, then just look for other brands.
@@mho0 it's a different from a stiff suspension. Than if a car hits a slight bump, it's like the whole thing is rattling apart. The earlier version I rode in had the suspension characteristics of a horse, and buggy carriage. I thought okay this is a start up. But then I found out that they were backed by Volvo. Then I thought completely unacceptable!!!!!!
@@michaelbush9603 weird ... I do not have that experience. Feels pretty solid in bumps. Performance versions also have Öhlins shocks, which are pretty much best in the industry.
Optimally synchronizing EV dual motors drives is essential to ensure the wheels turn at precisely the correct speed is crucial for a smooth and stable ride. Any mismatch in speed or torque between the wheels can lead to issues such as uneven tire wear, handling problems, and a generally uncomfortable driving experience. Also ensuring that the inner and outer wheels turn at different speeds during cornering is essential for the optimum performance of a vehicle. This difference is managed by various systems in EVs, enhancing safety, handling, and overall driving experience.

That is a very nice looking car. Just enough personality.
They should have made the 4 as a regular old school Volvo 245 wagon.
Go all out for a 262C!
It's a really great place to be. That car interior is pretty special. The 4 is generally too big for me, so I'd rather have a 2, but damn the interior feels like such a big step forward.
Excellent review thank yig
7:46 No one talking about the "Hey look, your-Anus joke"?
Love the review, seemed like you really had fun doing it
With the touch screens, no real buttons, cameras, and now no back window...they're just making things less comfortable to use and drive but they do it because they need to appear high tech.
Roadtripping around northern and Central Europe you routinely do stints 500-600 kilometers. On the motorway.
As usual Polestar absolutely nails the bodywork
That front end is very Genesis GV80 like
happy to see they gave a better alignment to the white one
That car color is stunning
And I appreciate you wearing a shirt to match
Very nice interior design
You just had to do a Uranus joke, didn't you :D great review by the way!
That license plate sounds like an oddly specific instruction
You have to stop reviewing every vehicle as a sports car!!!!! This is not!!!
Well that's basically how they market it. From the Polestar website: "Polestar 4 has been engineered to combine SUV comfort with sports coupe handling and performance, resulting in a balanced and highly responsive car. In fact, it's the quickest production Polestar to date."
I', on the fence about the rear windscreen, but maybe something similar could be employed to alleviate the necessity of side mirrors?
Oooof, that laggy screen immediately put me off. I hate this trend of *all* controls being touch screen now but I accept times are a changin' and it keeps manufacturing costs down to have all controls run through a single point. However if the controls are 100% touch screen then a laggy screen isn't just annoying, it's potentially dangerous. Anything that extends the period of time you're not looking at the road is an issue. Kinda hoping as time goes on there will be minimum lag time standard brought in for in-car UIs
4ra ka interface bohot user-friendly hai, easily sab kuch access ho jata hai, maza aata hai
Will be surprised if we don’t see “updated styling” next year that includes a rear window. Patience is a virtue.
What do you think of Polestar’s choice to forgo a rear windscreen?
Amazing & innovative. Driver gets more visibility with the digital rear view mirror and more head space in the back seats. Can be a challenge getting used to but serves a nice purpose
The video mirrors are especially useless for tall drivers. Totally messes with your vision and focus, let alone the sun glare. My wife has one and I can only deal with it by focusing on the road, leaning to the right of the seat, and never using it, unless necessary.
@@doritos7134 Visibility is literally worse, and also digitally worse.
Are you D U M B?@@doritos7134
Incredibly stupid
Love both the interior and exterior!
Cameras for mirrors are only half useful if they are on all the time the car is occupied. What I don't want is a rear view mirror which only turns on when the car is switched on.
Without the problem of the forgotten rear window it would be a great vehicle.
Love the dog and mushroom part 😂😂😂
That depreciation!
number plate + uranus what a video 👌🏼
first thing I noticed was the number plate...
Seems like the Long Range Dual Motor, without the performance pack might be the best one. Suspension of the single motor with power of the performance
I prefer paint the back panel into black to look like a window
The number plate is insane!
Is the speed limit reduced on a roads due to no rear windscreen? Like vans have
One trend cars and EVs in particular are leaning towards that irks me is removing all the buttons in favour of having daily used features buried in touch screen menus.
4RA ke wheel games bhi interesting hain, har spin pe naya surprise
With you on lack of buttons esp. for one pedal and sport mode.
With all those cameras, does it have Sentry Mode or Dashcam mode?
Nope
Polestar just came last in the JD Power rankings
it would be really nice if it have rear window and a normal roof... hate the skylight beause of the weather here is hot all year round...
14:17 yeah I was never confident that something like this could be sporty. Its a daily, a commuter car. Will most likely have great road control but you wouldn’t buy this if you wanted a vehicle to he occasionally fun
No rear window but a 3meter glass roof to see the stars😁
Just amazing what Polestar is doing with it's design i love it ❤❤❤❤
Not very honest video, you should have clearly stated that it was not a fully working car, and that you review an updated one on minute 15:10, which is way better.
The skylights are cool but I actually like a pano sunroof. And what happens in an accident with all that glass over your head??
I drive a P2. Everyone in the car gets jostled on bad roads. unless polestar fixes the suspension to be electronically adjustable, i wont buy one. It is TOO BUMPY
Polestar makes the best looking EVs both exterior and interior. In my opinion.
The JD Power survey shows that in the first 3 months of Polestar ownership, they will be taken back to the dealership 319 times per 100 cars.
Yes saw that as well-Bottom of the league table 🚗👎
Sure 🤔🤣
It’s the same as reading Amazon reviews - every product sucks and you wouldn’t buy anything if you based buying decisions on the reviews!
That’s entirely due to a software error that was bricking cars and was solved over a year ago.
The people who filled out Power's survey had an axe to grind, clearly. 🤣
@@niradgupta4075 Lol Geely creating problems that shouldn't even exist lol
Genuinely best host since the originals
No back glass?!!! Some of dumbest ideas like cybertruck that reviewers won't tell companies...the emperor's new clothes is his nakedness which is not a good sight.
Guessing you’ve never sat in one. Maybe do that first before passing judgement…
Learn how to use mirrors ffs
Wouldn't mind the loss of the rear glass, but would still prefer it's Zeekr cousin. Won't get that here in the states though.
