Be advised: amazon rails are hit or miss on QC. Mine had too much curve and flattening against the helmet led to the dovetail accessories not sliding through the slot. Order from the US distributor. They appear to have cloned the rail better.
No joke. None of us ever considered counterbalancing for NVGs. As inventive as we typically were with that kind of thing, I'm surprised. Just develop neck muscles and enjoy the headaches ha.
Those headaches weren't from them being gen2. They were from improperly tuned occular lenses. Your eyes have different prescriptions, and if each NVD isn't tuned to they eye that's using it, you can get a headache from your brain trying to resolve an image that is impossible to resolve.
You should check out those one-piece helmet pads for CVCs, that's what I've used since 2019 with no problems. They're black and the inside material visible from the top almost looks like bubble wrap.
For the rails I REALLY recommend going for only well vetted American companies. Most of the cheap foreign ones dont fit a majority of attachments and if they do they break very easily.
If you can find an Eagle industries helmet cover they are excellent accessories for the ACH. In terms of night vision mounts I like the Norotos TATM mount with the 1 or 3 hole shrouds and the Wilcox L3 G10.
The ACH is great but something bothers me with arc rails generally in my own opinion they make the helmet stick out a bit more in a combat setting, back when I was deployed we use these surefire lights that attach to the side of the helmet sometimes they suck but low profile.
It has been hard finding these for $100...if you are lucky. If anyone is trying to find any I do have access to military surplus in a number of locations for the ACHs
it’s good to modernize the ACH helmet. but for basic safety, and for a typical civilian who will use the helmet just for protection, it is good to retain the ear cover for additional protection…
@@crawlrinny all modern ballistic helmets are Level 3 in rating. the reason for stating that civilians use a ballistic helmet with ear covering in the ear area just as i stated (for additional protection) as opposed to using what the military is using with a “high cut” (no covering in the ear) to accommodate the use electronic ear protection when firing weapons. it seems you understood wrong.
Do you think the ACH shell is similar to the Russian 6B47? I wanna modernize one I have, because I‘ve seen Russians (majority spetsnaz) modernize their 6b47s with Team Wendy or Ops Core straps and they sometimes add rails to them
How can I paint my helmet like the grainy/sandy ops core coating? :( Please help. I find nothing about it... I need this grainy texture paint on my helmet
These old school helmets are perfect for high intensity combat situations such as trench warfare. In large scale war breaks out between the nations, M1 Steel Helmet, ACH and ECH works better than high cut designs like FAST.
@@idiotdoulbeo5high cut helmets offer less protection around your ears, which is more of a concern when you are expecting a lot of indirect fire or other shrapnel delivery methods. There's a reason the Army still issues full-sized helmet like the ACH, ECH and IHPS

God I feel old. We used baklavas with the standard webbing. The snaps were always a issue and NVGs were 2nd gen headache inducing green soup garbage.
I think you mean balaclava, not baklava 😅

i recommend getting the cheaper ones
The American ones are usually under $50.00.
You can also do this to the ECH helmet for a higher NIJ rated protection :)

If you cut it so it’s more like a high cut that eliminates the width issue. Also puts it within the weight range of an actual high cut.
This will also work for PASGT helmets i believe, at least the liner and strap system
It has been hard finding these for $100...if you are lucky. If anyone is trying to find any I do have access to military surplus in a number of locations for the ACHs
I cant find an ach for anything lower than $250 rn. Can you send that info over?
My grandpa just gave me one
Any surplus store nearby a major base will have to supply it.
I want to do this but concerned about drilling the holes for the nvg shroud. How can i be sure i get it all in the right spot?
Are the size of the pads the only thing differentiating a small vs medium ACH? Or are the helmets actually different sizes?
Can't wait for part 2! Great stuff
You're just inspiring and educating me, man. First, the side folder AKM now this 😂
it’s good to modernize the ACH helmet. but for basic safety, and for a typical civilian who will use the helmet just for protection, it is good to retain the ear cover for additional protection…
Is that because civilians are easier to hit or that “military” are more bulletproof.

You reckon the liner and harness upgrade would work on a PASGT/M88?
Have 7 helmet shells to build/mod and test actual shrapnel resistance :-)

Textured spray paint should work
Rustoleum is the standard.
I'm curious what would people mount on the sides? An IR spot light or camera or somthing else? and then you need to offset the weight.
Audio devices are one type of attachment that would go on the sides.
