    Indeed Oregon Areo pads and kits are the cat's meow. I do also recommend them.

    You should consider the team wendy harness. It's amazing.

      I have it in my airframe. I’m going to do a setup video on. For this video though I had to keep in mind some of the restrictions that airborne units put on aftermarket components I’ve seen guys get scratched from jumps cause they didn’t have the “correct type / style” pads for jumps. But I love the team Wendy harness and pads they are incredible !

      I'm trying with everything I can to be a voice of reason and help articulate experienced based information to help guys get the authorization to go out and purchase gear so that they can increase the performance at the individual level and then through the teams, squads, platoons, companies, battalions, and more. I would love to look back in the future and know that all this time, effort, and work put into all this helped service members out and allowed them to justify specific points to commands to allow them the freedom to make equipment decisions on their own.

    You must have some chill senior NCOs

    • @LegionPreparedness
      @LegionPreparedness  2 роки тому +6

      Lol I am an senior NCO and all of this is to mentor and teach all service members, change the narrative in the military when it comes to equipment, and to help build trust between officers and NCOs. so that we can just spot check guys real quick and then focus our efforts where they really matter

      @@LegionPreparedness well good on you for being practical in terms of training and gear. I always had control freak E-7s and up. I totally get it for instilling disciplinary things. But everything from gear to field craft had to be 100% by the book. Always pissed me off when some PFC would creatively find answers to solutions when LTCs writing policy couldn’t and the junior guy would be dismissed and maybe even smoked for using his brain.

    Any experience with the 4d helmet pads vs the oregon aero ones? Anytime I've heard anyone talk about the 4d ones i've always heard that they were absolutely the best, and they are a little cheaper too.

    • @LegionPreparedness
      @LegionPreparedness  3 роки тому +3

      This is the first time I’ve ever heard of them. They look solid to me from the pictures. I would absolutely buy them they look well constructed and your dollar looks like it’s going a little further with a little more. I’ll put it on the list of things to look further into

    Man if i would have known about putting counter weights on my Kevlar and mitch helmet it would have saved me a lot pain both figuratively and literally. Putting those old school NVGs when i was the Poggiest of PoGs then when I was a scout. It sucked that it gave you neck pain and headaches, not including how it used to till your helmet forward.
    Too bad the Army was or is such an ass when it comes to making improvements to your gear.

      Agreed! I’m glad I know what I know now to help the military enhance its capabilities and atleast slow the process at which we hemorrhage experience and knowledge.

    I bought a Velcro kit for my helmet from shellback tactical and it was junk. Peeled off with patches, super thin and didn’t stick well with accessories. Velcro started separating from the adhesive for no reason. So I went to Walmart and bought the $3.70 Velcro kits from the craft aisle and custom cut my own Velcro kit, and it stuck better and held accessories on better than any of the online kits…….. and it’s stuck good, doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

      @LegionPreparedness  2 роки тому

      to be honest no matter what helmet or pads ive ran in them they all get hot and they all retain sweat. Its just a matter of getting a fan and circulating air through the helmet at night to dry it out.

    how did you paint the helmet

    • @LegionPreparedness
      @LegionPreparedness  Рік тому +3

      diamond and circular mesh with just rattle can spray paint. Tan as the base and then brown, green, grey, and black for the terrain / environment your in.
      Tan base - let that dry
      Diamond mesh - for your browns and greens, let that dry on the helmet - use 550 to help keep the mesh tight to the helmet
      Small circular mesh - for greys and blacks - cover the diamond mesh with the small circular mesh and use 550 to secure the mesh tight to the helmet. (be conservative a little bit goes a long way)
      Once its all dry remove the mesh and you should be good to go
