I’m going to do this to mine whenever my arc rails show up. I had a couple questions for you. Now that you’ve done it, if you had to do it again would you do anything differently? And how did you position your 3 hole shroud properly? I’m concerned with getting mine off center or too high or low so that night vision won’t be properly located. Also, Could I cut it without the rails by just following the ear piece and cutting it all off? I noticed on yours there is a very small lip where the ear used to be near the front. Thanks brother.
So for the shroud: I placed mine to where the shroud sat directly on top of the rubber, lip, thing. I sat it directly on there and centered the already punched hole for the old style NODs mount. For cutting, I guess you could cut without have the rails but I wouldn't suggest it because the rails rely on the pressure from behind for rigidity.
You are gonna use it for airsoft? Then OK. Do you expect it to take real shots on NIJ IIIA level? Not the best idea. By cutting sides you have changed the structural integrity of the shell. It willnot protect you on IIIA level.
Completely incorrect. Dudes used to run mod cut helmets in the teams and delta back in desert storm. Cutting part of a helmet doesn't all of a sudden change the structure of the entire shell.
@@newkboots How many of those "dudes" took a shot in the cut helmets and survived? The fact that someone did it and wears it in a conflict does not mean it is good. Ask a manufacturer. I did so... Helmets are not only ballistic protection but they should protect the wearer from hard hits from e.g. stones. Anyway, your choice. Do what ever you consider right.
Generally none, since those dudes were taking 7.62x39 and no part of the helmet, modded or not, was ever rated above 3A 😅 It was always for frag and handgun threats. The helmet is fine, ballistically speaking. The only weak points added are the new holes the new cut edges that were imo poorly sealed.
Gonna let you in on a little secret my man, there is no difference between a manufacturers high cut and full coverage helmet besides…the manufacturer cutting the high cut when they also do the edges
Gotta be a Garmin Instinct tactical on your wrist?. Nice. I got the same watch if so, and I love it
Not the tactical version but yea, I love this watch.
What rails did you buy for that ?

Could I possibly make one out of a PASGT helmet like yours?
Very nice project
I would have to say yes you can. BUT it wouldn't have that good modern look. The PASGT had that weird flare around the lip that might pose a problem.
I heard you say Rustolem paint. What color did you use? That's a nice looking green, I need to repaint a couple of my M1 helmets
I ended up using a Skilcraft paint, my Rustolium was empty. I would say that the Deep Forest Green would be your best bet.
