Visually, he's just stunning. I really love the way he looks but as you showed, the poseability it's just a nightmare. That's why I love these videos, because even if you have instructions and photos about the dark hunters, you never know how cohesive their structure is until you start building. If only I knew this before I started building Tahtorak.
I really like this Dark Hunter, it may have a strange design, but it looks awesome. About the hand design where the fingers keep falling apart, you forgot to add the white rubber band 2x2 in each of the two fingers to stay in place without falling apart. Also in the mask, you forgot to add another white rubber band 2x2 on the lower face of the mask. I hope it helps on the fingers falling apart, by the way, great review.
Oops, missed this one by a couple of days. I made him too :) Haebels' instructions do tell you to attach the thumbs with white rubber bands. You can see the bands in the official photo too. I think he's a very interesting looking character. I suspect the builder was a bit older, not just because they had slizer parts but because they clearly saw value in certain parts and colours of parts used, had a good idea of colour blocking and layering, and were probably showing off a little bit. The original MOC uses bohrok eyes in purple, which currently sell for $7-8 each and were only ever released in the 3808 Shadowstrike set from the Spybotics line in 2002. With 4 purple Pakaris you're probably looking at someone with 2 Nui-Jaga sets or multiple mctoran. Back then, the idea of having a purple MOC at all was mindblowing. The addition of the rubber bands to the mask make me think of the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica.
Thanks for the tip on the rubber bands! Still such a weird connection IMO haha. Must have missed it on the instructions! And yeah, building wise it’s definitely a lot more sophisticated than a lot of the other DHs
I have been working hard at trying to build that from the video instructions! Hopefully I’ll be able to do so and put out a vid! Thanks for the comment!
This was quite an aesthetically pleasing model, I quite liked how the wings worked. It also seems that my Nivawk is not the only Nivawk who wants to tip over...
Thumbs... It would be better to switch thumbs for any way of holding the staff. I get what builder was going for, but back then the only way of making hands was the "ultimate Duma" way, and it was clunky as heck. I would give up on realistic hands if I was builder. It's clear this model was meant to be shown off in one way, with no pose-ability in mind. It is improvement stability wise from most other DH we've seen, but still... I love the color scheme tho. White and purple looks soo good! And grey accents looks nice, but are not too overwhelming to crush the model and make it look too bleak and dark. I don't mind neither lack of armor from the front, nor those white pieces connecting the tubes since they're nicely break the otherwise dark torso. It would be nice to make sure they're always symmetrical, but that's still fine. I'm sure there is more technic purple pieces, but I don't think there are any that are used in this model and aren't purple already. I'm sure Lego technic Competition theme had a lot of purple pieces.
One of the best looking Dark Hunters, for sure. He's a bit taller than I expected, too. I may try and build him if I ever find the rest of the purple pieces I'd need.
You Call the grey armour pieces on his hands throwbot heads. Those are actually from roboriders. the throwbot heads are the back armour on his lower legs
I have two questions one how long until you get to savage and the dragons for dark hunters and two I think there’s this guy who made his own fan instructions on how to build a mutated version of the rogue order Remember there was a titan in 2006 are you gonna do that one
duckbricks 11:00 : “very unique wing design, and definitely a lot better than wing designs lego has done for their other sets!” turaga dume & nivawk 8621 wing design:
I guess if you count the similarity being the pieces used, but the function/way it works is pretty different I’d say - and honestly way better than the Nivawk build IMO
I can't believe I missed this Poor unfortunate vanisher. That color scheme is just amazing, but this poor poor moc just... I can't believe he existed. He looks cool, but that's it
This is one controversial model, I'm not even sure how he could be improved without altering visual aesthetics too much, I'd want to preserve his look. Also funny, on the Baterra you couldn't lift upper arms up, on him you only can do one lifting movement that Baterra lacked.
@@DuckBricks I think it brings up an issue that those old contests cannonized not so much the physical models, but the photo images of them, so parts could be just temporarily slapped on to make it look good for a few shots without any concern for stability, fuctions and poseability.
I feel like his hands could have been repaired simply with a "liftarm modified crank" piece TwT (dunno if that's how that piece is called, that's how it's called on studio)
I was gonna say that this is the asexual pride Bionicle, but then I recalled that everyone in the Matoran Universe is basically asexual so yeeeah.... Love the colour scheme nonetheless!
If you mean for something like Constraction Conversations, honestly I’m open to chatting with anyone if I have time and there’s a good topic to discuss! If you mean criteria for reviews, anything canon or close to canon I’ll review

I totally agree! Glad you are enjoying - and yeah, shame how so many are just completely unstable. And this is one of the better ones!

Is there a chance we could potentially see a review of WholesomeGadunka’s Nikila model in the future?
Also, this is another great review!
WholesomeGafunka is the best bionicle mocist out there
I have been working hard at trying to build that from the video instructions! Hopefully I’ll be able to do so and put out a vid!

@@DuckBricks alright, thanks for letting me know!
And thanks for the videos!

Haha yeah for an official set Nivawk has some stability issues... but the wings of this character are definitely much better
Very nice aestatics to this model indeed. Thanks for posting. The blue pin nightmare rages on. That's why I love the bohrok-va sets so much ;-)..
Glad you enjoyed! And haha, man do I wish they stuck with black pins, as does every other Bionicle fan...

Agreed - some things are better, some are worse - but I can’t deny it doesn’t look too bad visually!
Idk why, but the head gives me Galidor vibes.... in a good way
Nice! I can kinda see it!

Nice! He’s pretty visually neat, I will say!
One of the coolest dark hunters
Think you could modify Nivawk to have wings more like Vanisher's? If it's better than the official set, try it out!
You Call the grey armour pieces on his hands throwbot heads. Those are actually from roboriders. the throwbot heads are the back armour on his lower legs
Thank you, Duckbricks. Very cool !
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
Isn’t there supposed to be a white elastic around the mouth section of his mask? I remember seeing a white outline around the mouth in the book.
U can just put the very smallest ccbs limb at the shoulders to fix articulation
I really like how the color blocking works.
Same!
Another video at 3Am why do you do this to me😂🤣
Hahaha sticking to that midnight PST tri-weekly upload schedule

the rubber band is grinch eyebrows.
Nice
I can't believe I missed this

5:17 ok if it were me, I’d get rid of the thumb, put some sort of attachment for the weapon
I think the red rubberband is a V. V for Vanisher. :D
Ooo that’s a good observation, maybe!

You said Slizer finally, so this gets an upvote, I thought this would be much fairer way, than downvoting every video where you say Throwbot.
Yeah , his arm really need fixes
For sure, it’s pretty unfortunate
