OK, hot take, this isn't actually a bad MOC at all. Helryx is supposed to be an old toa after all, and it's a breath of fresh air from all the tired constantly over-detailed MOCs people tend to make of her. It's got a unique body structure and really conveys the look of a toa more primitive than even the Mata. Seriously a masterclass in design. One of the best MOCs I've ever seen, actually. The homage to Slizers is the icing on the cake. Truly, this MOC is a masterpiece.
I actually really agree, ignoring the build techniques for the arms, aesthetically it’s pretty perfect in my mind for what Helryx should look like and it was the one I voted for personally
Makes sense, the Toa Metru are basically the natural 'evolution' of the Matoran, and they have no resemblance to Helryx. Where as the Toa Mata who do in some degree were created by Artakha.
Just a little correction: the throwbots/slizers were one line, the roboriders were another line that came out after. Those were roborider heads, not throwbot heads.
This is the asthetic I want for all my bionicles! I really dislike most MOCS as they don't seem to fit into the asthetic of the theme, with people being way too concerned about "filling gaps", wich is the oposite of what bionicle looks like!
So much this. I can’t stand how many MOCs out there do things like fill pin holes with studs, or put tires over CCBS bones. They’re valid techniques, and they can look super good, but just slapping them on EVERYTHING doesn’t look right to me.
Great review man! I’ve made some mods to the model and it I think it makes the model so much better. I’ll show the model off later in the future on the TTV message boards once I get a robo rider head and carapar armor in blue.
I love toa heleryx because not only that she's the first toa to ever become to be but also she supports Mata Nui... (which is the one who finally got rid of teridax) and she gave up working for the hand of arthtaka to become the leader of an organization called the order of Mata Nui... she even had some av matoran to build the toa mata... (except one of them had a twisted leg and went to tren krom then got driven mad by him when then krom banished him to the realm of karzahni) but hey heleryx was a great toa!
i was the luckiest, i wasn't considering doing this build, but i remebered i had the slammer bike which was the only technic set which came with the blue technic block and just a store i was ordering pieces added to their stock 1 blue technic block and here I am, happy with my helryx
The only armor Takanuva couldn't see are those Carapar armors.Those leg armors were used as the nose of the muaka, the stinger of the nui-jaga, the feet of makuta, and it's also used in the 03 version of the gukko, and in 04 rahi.I think this would've worked with ccbs armor, cause Takanuva definitely didn't see those.Or with knight's kingdom armors.
I really like the design! Though if a MOC isn’t functional for normal movement I sorta don’t like it because I’m a hands on person rather than displaying and taking pictures
I like how this moc is just a ccbs build without ccbs parts haha. I feel like an alternative ccbs form would look more consistent and it'd be way sturdier!
I'm planing in buying the parts, but with other mod. You should check the video uploaded by Tammy Calamity about Helryx. The mods are very similar to the ones you showed, but the legs are more faithful to the original MOC. You are also missing the tube in the righ leg.

I know that at the end of the video we see the fixes for Helryx done by Bukkey but i still would love to see a small review on her just like what you did for Arthaka.😛 You could make a playlist of mods to canon model issues, on the Dark Hunters it will be more frequent.
These is Awsome, I would have loved to do professional stop motion with alot of Bionicles, as well as having the pieces to have created my own characters, at the moment I am getting affection for the Gundams Assembly, to be honest I was too little for a girl to have more than 2 «Toas »By then, if anyone knows where I can get pieces to create mine, it would be a Great Help And sorry for the Bad writing, my first language is Spanish not English 😌😌😌 But hey when it comes to talking about Bionicle I can offer a stable conversation 😁🎩

I honestly couldn't stand listening to this review and reading comments back when TTV held the contest. The misconception of ancient in bionicle community is just outrageous. I feel like most of them hate on everything that came after 2003 and blindly follows the cult of Toa Mata. Looking at the story's timeline ancient would mean something similar in the aesthetic of Bara Magna, so this "armor Takanuva couldn't recognize" would be Glatorian armor, not pre-2000. Also, as someone said in the comments, "disturbingly frail" meant her armor, not her body. I really wanted to write an essay here on how TTV messed up and "mask-man bad" and all that stuff, but it's meaningless at this point. Yeah...

Helryx was the first Toa, but Greg also said that the Great Beings didn’t really base the later Toa's designs on her design much.

The disturbingly frail thing, I believe, was once specified by Greg to refer to the armor rather than the actual body.

good review, I never reaaally liked this model, as it looks kind of scuffed, and the constantly falling apart also doesn't help at. all.
That makes a lot of sense and it’s definitely not for everyone - personally, I liked how it fit the prompt, but I’m certainly in the minority

Yeah, if not for her canonically being frail, I would've scaled her to the likes of Axonn and Brutaka
