Enjoy this review of the Dark Hunter Mimic, a man duped into serving a dangerous organization! All instructions for the Dark Hunters: board.ttvchann...

@@Legomicroman that's just a special ability of Mimic's, implied to be unique to him. There's no mention of all members of his species sharing the same power in the story - or any mention of his "species" at all , nor any external references from Greg - at least none that I could find cited on bs01. Bionicle is full of beings of the same species/class with wildly varied powersets and abilities, I hardly see why these two not sharing a power means I can't headcanon them as physically similar beings, lol
@@TheiBunny touché. i just checked the wiki myself. still, i'm not sure if Mimic and Sidorak are actually the same species. mostly because of their backstories. Mimic came from a place, that was destroyed, Sidorak came from Stelt. and in the Bionicle universe, each species usually has their own island, except for the Matoran, which are everywhere.
@@Legomicroman they're almost definitely not *actually* the same species, that's why I said its just headcanon of mine... I also like to think sidorak's species aren't really native to stelt, rather, like the natural tyrants they are, they came from another island and colonized it anyway, which conveniently means I can consolidate the otherwise two distinct characters/separate species into the same species with different histories and give the world a little more depth, at no cost of the official story or anything :)
I don't mind the use of official/vanilla techniques for builds as long as the builder tries to modify/refine them with different nuances in mind. I do really like the metru build, it could've been perfect if only lego made a specific connector that would allow for both gear function and balljoint shoulder connection, btw that connector does exist 3d modelled on shapeways. I'm kinda concerned about the contest entry, since the staff didn't say if I'm qualified or no, but there is a link to my topic pinned on the main contest entry so I guess it's yes? Pretty sure I followed every single instruction. There were some pretty damn funny entries tho, dat large Gaaki, asymmetric Kualus... I actually seen that technique with a cannister used as a belly on another moc, it used a brown one tho. Too bad I got non of those left, or I'd try something original as well. Also saw someone slapping krekaans on Bomonga's shoulders as an armor, guess that idea of using famous artifacts for random stuff lives on.
mimic is one of my favourite yet underused characters in the entire story. I even built a moc of his friend^^ the build is simple yet cool enough and fits perfectly into the universe. it's a metru build with kikanalo legs, nothing insanely creative tbh. the head design is awesome though.
He didn't get any stories sadly afaik and only was given a profile in the Dark Hunters guidebook like a lot of the other contest winners and not really a role in the story. Sucks too since he has one of the more interesting backstories of the bunch, would've loved to see him :CC
I wonder if the name of the model is a reason why we see a lot of reused parts. As if he is mimicking other beings from the universe. I’m not too familiar with his abilities so someone feel free to elaborate but I still think the model evokes the name well.
As his character description has it, it would make a lot of sense for him to have similar features to other beings. His unique trait that The Shadowed One noted is that he can seamlessly copy any movement from seeing it done just once, hence his moniker. Sure, it may have been a more unoriginal submission, and the story came after, but I think that the story gives a good explanation to his appearance.
This model prioritized quite a different set of things to the usual models, at the cost of reusing parts from sets. This could have ended up being one of the better models if it had all unique limbs
Norik torso + Kikanalo legs + Makuta hands. This guy always bothered me for how unoriginal he was. I still like the head and somewhat the lower leg armor. A bit more originality in the upper legs and feet would be great

If you wanted to, you could look at his species as the Matoran Universe's version of a satyr, just with Kikanalo parts instead of goat parts.
Good idea! Never thought of that.
I wasn't on board with this model and now I love it now that I've read this idea. Lol the power of good lore
I can't believe that the shadowed one stole this guy's (non canon) spouse and pit them in prison
Not the worst thing he's ever done.
I like to headcanon that Mimic and Sidorak are of the same species due to some very similar design elements between them.
if they would be, Sidorak would have the same copying powers. but he doesn't.

@@TheiBunny There's nothing saying they can't be closely related species. Which is what I'm thinking they are after reading your comment.

Mimic may not be very original, but he's a very practical model. And LEGO often re-uses building techniques themselves.

Thank you, Duckbricks . Very cool !
Any stories following Mimic, that you would recommend? His story sounds so tragic and intriguing

Great video! Love the review. Will you be doing Gatherer fanon review soon?
Scheduled for June 14!
Don’t google the price of a gold avohkii on bricklink, worst mistake of my life
