Ciclismo Defectuoso - Riding in Mexico City

- Here is the official start of the Mexico City films. This trip did not go as planned with myself and the entire crew getting extremely sick halfway through. Looking at what all is in this edit it makes me think what could have been with all the footage I had planned to shoot, but also what a great week we had when we were well. The most unfortunate part of getting ill was that all the rides/shoots I had planned with friends were in the second week where I had to cancel so I wasn't able to put the spotlight on local riders. Luckily I have a strong connection to Mexico City and will be back to make amends.
With that said I still got to show you some of my old training routes through forests, down volcanoes, and through the less glamorous parts of town. The group ride and two descents we shot was a lot of fun and at least there we get to see how the CDMX riders go about their business. Mexico City is like no other city I have visited for many reasons, but in terms of cycling it offers such freedom of movement and expression. No one cares if you're on the tollgate highway, but at the same time don't expect anyone to stop if it goes wrong. Great freedom with great danger, you have to accept both or neither.
"Great freedom with great danger, you have to accept both or neither." gives me chills
Man…people say road bikes are boring but this, this is what give you the thrill. It reminds me a lot of the fixie type style of riding through the streets going wild. Ik very few people will understand bc not everyone would want to do it or have the setting to but it just shows that it can go beyond riding in a flat well paved trail.
Thanks for all this videos of Mexico City, the way you show it is amazing. Mexico City is a lot of things, but the way you show the city is unique.
What an atmospheric film Brian! So cool to watch! You really do live life on the Edge! You can tell you were a Courier in NewYork the way you weave through the traffic and hitch a ride is exhilarating to watch and Massive respect to you for your hard work and effort putting these videos out there for us all to enjoy👍🔥🔥🤘😎🤘🔥🔥
I was a courier in Mexico City for 6 years, didn't do too much in NYC.
@@SAFABrian😊 ahora yo en mi ciudad, aunque aquí por poco me llevan fue hace tres días es que aquí sale de momento los coches aun me falta rebasar los como tu lo haces

@@SAFABrian bien merci et cela est trop plat ?
What a blast! After spine surgery my cycling “career” is currently at least on hold. Watching this one, I got really emotional. There is so much in it that cycling meant to me 😭
Hope you're able to enjoy the bike again soon ❤️
Awww
Hope you have a speedy recovery!
Hope you heal quick. Ride lots!
salut à toi phil, comment vas tu aujourd hui ?
Such a great video! I loved the still film photos. It brought back many fond memories riding in DF with BiciGallos - dinamos, desierto, paso de cortes, lagunas de zempoala, centro ceremonial otomi, la loma, etc.
All amazing places to ride! I was going to film the bici gallo and lagunas de zempoala but was too sick. Next time!
Wow!! So damn good!! The cycling, the scenes, the music, the people, the mood, everything.. 🤘🤠
Is it only me who worries about you going so fast in traffic. You are a living legend man.
Not just you
I love what he does, but really cringe sometimes. Scares the crap out of me! Still I can’t take my eyes off 😂

Que video tan cool! Realmente amo los videos de Brian.
Gracias!
Anyone who loves riding will appreciate this one! Pure adrenaline you captured it all. Just doing your thing.
Chingón Brian, que bueno quw estás de regreso en el Defectuoso saludos desde Cancún compadre
Nice to see some "older" rim brake bikes on show as well that keep pace or outpace some of the modern bikes too.
I remember a chat with you about your vision to create cycling film that are more in the skate/surf film artistic expression. Well, here we are dude! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That was like a movie. Awesome job Brian.
Looks like a blast. I studied abroad in Cholula like 23 years ago. El Popo was always in view. Great footage like always. Love how you can sense the adventure and exploration on this one....
You have balls of steel! I am Mexican born and raised and would never ride a bike there 😂 way to live out my fantasy for me so that I don’t have to. Super talented.
omg man this was absolutely insane huge respect !!!
That was pretty much the best bike film on youtube I have ever watched. Amazing atmosphere, compilation of sick, technical rides, great smooth edit, fucking perfect man.
Mexico looks like a wonderful place to visit. I'm retired and live in USA but just need to see how the other half live. Thanks Brian.
Oui, et moi donc aussi j apprécie ce mexique découvert grâce à ces films de brian, j habite en Suisse, je pratique depuis trois saisons le metier de coursier et serais dans quelques petites années à la retraite
Your footage + Edition made this breathtaking I love it 🎉

DUDE! Of all your vids that was without a doubt the craziest!! Full send!!!!

Big Time you're back champ, i knew you from Terry's video, insane ride with him,🚲🤙🇲🇽
One of the best cycling videos I’ve seen
Safa take care dude. When I was younger I loved riding in traffic, it’s another skill that has to be learned, was never mad about going into dangerous tight spaces though eg between 2 buses or trucks.
Fantastic skill, awesome skills in traffic, keep the black stuff down.
Them are some balls of steel my friend.
That was wild, man! If it was me, I would probably have crashed in few minutes.
Incredible film! Keep it going!
That yellow van almost got ya bro. Yeeewwww took a few of those S’s super fast and sweet. 😮😮
Great video! On one side I really love seeing you going full gaz like this. But I must say 6:54 got me on the edge my seat. Stay safe!
Just when we thought content couldn't get better, we get this ❤
You put out good films. But by far this is your best yet. Amazing.
Really like the music in this one. The track on the first descent: 🙌🏻♠️🖤
Great to see you back in MC
Muy divertido! Never saw that side tuck before, and some of gaps looked barely handlebar width!! SAFA Rocks!
Chest cam necessitates the side tuck
All the haters wish they had the absolute steez and flow of this man who is riding within his abilities
Absolutely great video. Mexico is so lovely I loved riding there. Te esperamos en Colombia si te animas para trepar como los escarabajos.

I'd shit my pants riding like that. Balls of steel. 👍🏽
Haha me too
I wouldn’t survive the first ride hitch, gap shoot, or side tuck. Fun to watch though!

That was nuts. Wow
Cycling on the highways in Mexico City is so fascinating
Nothing like it, put it on ur list.

Is that my boy cooper on the specialized?
Excellent!
Cracking video
Very cool and my dream😚
Mexicco + SAFA= LEGENDARY!
When someone doesn't understand what "flow state" is I just show them one of this guy's videos.
I've ripping the ecobici in Mexico city the last 4 days. It's been fun not having to follow traffic laws.
My kind of riding ❤
OMG😱😱😱 The highway part at 6:45 is pure madness...So wild
Beautiful
Scott foil meets Mexico City 👌🏼
Looks like a video game 🤠
MEXICOOOOOOO VAMOOOOSSS!
Bossman I'm going to need the music selection
Great Scene
Was that Cooper Ray around 3:11 on the highway decent?! crazy seeing you two in the same vid
Estas bien pinche loco wey!
I love this because I love riding on freeways with cars. It is not for everyone, but it is absolutely possible to coexist with cars if you start slow, accept what cars can and cannot do, and put your mind to it and full commit.
Well... good film as usual, good music and editing: but I not approve the multiple times you take the risk to do this film.
Sorry man.
My fave safa video
The camera is drone ?😁
I’ve seen 50 of your videos but this is bordering on self destruction. It’s not a matter of if but when. And it’s gonna be heartbreaking for all of us.
You have to d1€ of something. Most will d1€ on the couch.
Glad you mostly enjoy the channel, Brent. For some context here is the first video I uploaded 10 years ago ua-cam.com/video/u5LbBAyUkPA/v-deo.html
@@SAFABrianI agree with Brent. Your content is very exciting without taking unnecessary risks.
Just a reminder that cycling doesn't have to be on an alpine trail to be cool. The best route is often the one that starts from your house and you go explore. That said, I don't think I will be cyling down a highway holding onto a dump truck and trying to peer around the corner to see if someone is about to hit me.
Scott es la compañía favorita de Safi😊
Imagine doing all of that on a fixie!
I'm coming to the next one
Safa en la parte trasera del camión en un bolsillo aerodinámico👍
Need a track bike video
Awesome
@ 7:00 this is too dangerous.
