Growing up our family have had a few 40s, I learned to drive in one. Awesome rigs, just the characteristic sound makes me smile, very clean unit nice restoration.
Nice '78. Enjoyed the video. I also have a '78, same olive color. Bought it new in '78. 62,000 original miles. Got a cosmetic face lift and some upgraded mechanicals about 10 years ago. It gets to sit in the garage while the 2 4Runners and the FJ Cruiser sit under the carports.
I've got a '78 model as well in blue, thing sounds like a jet engine but that's half the fun. Rebuilt the carburetor not too long ago. thing drives perfectly, but I need to do some work on the outside.
Q fascinante paseo a bordo de este gran ejemplar de Land Cruiser! Un poco bruscos los cambios de marcha de 2da a 1ra a mi modo de ver, con el carro en movimiento.... a mi humilde criterio...
Did you add it and if so what did you put in. I just bought a 78 and it’s fine once I get going but power steering and disk brakes are my one and first up to change
Plus he was jamming it into first at too high of speed. I could hear the stress on those synchros! First gear in an FJ40 is seldom used for street driving. It is a granny gear, and second gear is fine for going from a stop. Unless I am mistaken and the diff gear is not 4:10 on a 78, and it went higher to 3:73.
Don't know who taught you how to drive a 4 speed, but you should never throw it out of gear and coast when coming to a turn or stop. When you throw it out of gear and coast, you have lost control of the vehicle. You should simply gear down as necessary, but keep it in gear.
That 2nd gear whine brings back so many memories. Love the 40’ series I gonna buy one soon enough

Cool ! Nice driving video, thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for sharing the experience
I'm in love with the 45 pickup, but also this is incredibly beautiful!
That car looks sick! I wanna have one when I grow up
FJ40 has a great hood profile from the driver’s view. Makes a “go anywhere” statement.
Was sure thinking the streets looked familiar then looked at the description. My wife and I both work at UMMC. Nice video and FJ.
Nice drive , thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for the ride bubba. Very nice

Nice truck. 👍
Been trying to learn manual on a 4 speed 75 fj40 without power steering. Lots of work but worth it all :)
Joey Campbell i learned to drive in a 1981 fj40 with no power steering or power brakes. After that, you can drive anything hahaha
Aqui no Brasil se chamava Toyota Bandeirante e foi produzido entre 1958 e 2001. Tenho um igual a esse ano 1999 a diesel.

Hello mate, do you have powersteering?
Nice ride. I have a few of my own that I’m restoring. I imagine you installed power steering since you can steer with one hand . Congrats
Do you sell?
@@bigPianist99 yes I do. I have one 1981 fj43 soft top frame off totally restored for sale

Nice. Did these come in an auto?
no
@@golfguy25 do you restore these as a business?
It's an agricultural tractor. No they don't have an auto box.
1:01 Why neutral?
Well... It can be used for reducing your speed while you're exiting the highway.
God, I got to get my FJ40 on the road. It's burning a hole in my pocket though, someone ran it with no oil.
get new engine
Swap engine with diesel
Nice 40. Power steering, right?
