  • This was filmed for a competition SBS was having. It was completely scripted and a shot list was made prior to filming. I made it as a top 20 finalist and won some free movie tickets.

    Great video. I like the little digs at how loud it is and how limited it’s accessories are. Awesome mate.

    These really are neat, neat 4X4's. I have driven them in the jungles of Panama and the mountains of Northern New Mexico and never felt like I couldn't get where I wanted to go! Thanks for a really good video!

    Frames on these things are absurdly well built. If you can keep em rust free they can last forever. (minor parts replaced of course.) Impossible to find a nice one in B.C. Might move to Aussie land one day..Ill land my hands on one then.

    BEST vehicle ever made! Great video.
    I got a Prado now but had a 76 FJ40 for a few years and I miss it. I still kick myself that I ever sold it. It's indestructible, will take you places that nothing else short of a Sherman tank will make it to and it's just got the biggest COOL factor of any vehicle. It's MAN'S car and I reckon it'll raise your testosterone levels more than any pill you can take! There'll never be another vehicle like it again...

    I agree!!! My dad used to have a 1993 FJ-40 made in Brazil, 5 speed with Mercedes-Benz OM-364 diesel engine (complete stock). Man, it was a real beast on the trail!

    I was so familiar with Toyota Fj40. My dad was civil engineer who worked for Indonesian govt since 1965 until he passed away in 1988. Govt always provided him official cars that renewed every few years. Since he got official car around 67-68 until 1984, the cars were always Fj40 petrol, canvas and hardtop.

    Loved this, very funny. Brought back all the memories of our childhood cruiser. Not even a milk tanker hitting it at 80km in the fog could kill it... or us lol!

    my dad had one when i was growing up. i always thought it was so cool to be sitting in the back seat facing the other back seat. except the shocks are really springy and when u hit a good bump you could do some serious damage to your cranium via the roll bars.

    Great vid fella... My first 4wd was a 1975 FJ40, damn i miss it. Went everywhere with me. Blew the transfer-case towing a boat in 4wd and started to rust badly, but i would buy another one again...

    dude, that is a great truck. we have quite a few of those in south africa that are rust free and in great condition as well as yours. seems a lot cheaper for one in oz than in SA though. in vancouver canada there are some nice ones but very pricey for a tidy one
    cool vid bro

    Great vid and even better car! The car perfectly suited to the real Australia, giving so many Aussies the opportunity to see what our beautiful, diverse country has to offer. What a true classic! It's easy to see why 1 in 10 Landcruisers are owned by Australians!\
    Not hard to tell, i'm a Landcrusier owning Aussie!

    as you can see in my name i drive a landcruiser BJ42 ( diesel ) . I love that car so much! It never let me down, no matter what! I hope we still can drive the old cars for a long time because they are REAL cars. The new plastic computer cars from this time are just sh*t. Like if you agree. Thanks

    awesome vid! all the same can be said for the bj42 but with most of those creature comforts.. power steer, a/c, disk brakes and 5spd with production up to 1984.. well done though top effort on the vid production.

  • @UltimaRB
    @UltimaRB  14 років тому

    With the 2F, 4 speed and 31" tyres it struggles to do 110km/h on the freeway. You might get it going a bit quicker than that on a long downhill but these aren't built for speed.

  • @Cytr0gen
    @Cytr0gen 14 років тому

    @UltimaRB it could go higher since your fj40 has such big tires and is very tall it makes it slower but it looks better with big tires and tall also this was not built for speed but for power. This car has enough power to pull an 18 wheeler
