As much as I love the optimism, I can't help but try to be a realist. Julio has had two years now with a slow start. Pitching was excellent but I think you gotta factor in the potential for injury and I think a lot of the at-home GMing ends up making moves and predictions without considering the realistic risk and downside. Not just with players underperforming, but the uncontrollable like injury or outside factors
If SP’s get injured, you have Hancock, Logan Evans, Michael Morales available as I mentioned in the video. I also mentioned a bunch of names that are ready in AAA on offense to step in
I think an extremely underrated issue with the 2024 Mariners was their power outage. Some of that falls on Julio for not slugging in the first half, but the Ms decided to sacrifice some power for contact last season and ended up with neither. I think a guy like Josh Naylor needs to be high on the radar to just inject some power back into the lineup
@ idk man. Baseball is about scoring runs. Home Runs equals runs. The best teams the Mariners have had have been when they rank well within the top 10 in home runs. That was a huge part of their problem this year
Love your recaps/previews. Well put together and articulated. I have hope for the M's this year as always despite the results of last year (expectations made it a much worse season). Here's hoping for Hye-Seong Kim...would be happy with Diaz too.
I'm down with Yandy but I also prefer to trade for Lowe at 2B. Honestly, it's so tough to say how Hye-Seong Kim is going to transition into the MLB. He had a lower OPS than both Ha-Seong Kim and Jung Hoo Lee when they came over. Both the former players I mentioned struggled in their first years. I expect Hye-Seong to struggle more.
Not a big fan of Bohm, but if we were to trade Gilbert(which I don't want to happen), I would love to see Mark Vientos from the and Blade Tidwell coming back from the Mets.
The idea of Kim scares me. I personally don't know enough about the KBO to voice much of an opinion, but I've heard multiple sources compare it to a double A level of competition. Giving that kind of money to someone with so many unknowns just does not sit with me very well.
I see an infield of Cole Young/ Colt Emerson long term, so feel Arroyo is expendable. Also have Tai Peete and others as options. Yandy would be huge for 2025-26!
I like your idea of Yandy and Yoan Moncada. Yandy as you say brings contact which would really lengthen the lineup. Yoan would be a good flier considering the Ms tried that last year with Luis Urias at $5mil. Switch hitting helps anywhere in the lineup. But I do not see the Ms just DFAing Haniger. A better solution I have thought for a while would be to rework his contract and spread it over 4 years to free up money if they trade or DFA him. All being guaranteed but just paid out over those 4 i.e. like Bobby Bonilla. Not a fan of signing anyone for more than a 1 year contract or platooning Moore, Rojas, and Bliss until a Cole Young call up. All the above would be what the ownership wants; hardly any money added. If we ever see ownership actually spend it will probably be because they were sold. Wishful thinking I know. I hoping for a Castillo package trade for 3B Baltimore Westburg or Mets Vientos. There have been reports that the Mets have offered Willy Adames a contract already. They resign Pete Alonso and they are without spots for Vientos and need pitching. Finally maybe 3B puzzle would be solved. Ideally they find a trade partner for Garver, a prospect and a few $$ to get out of that contract. If Castillo comes off the books, Haniger contract is reworked, and Garver can be sent there would be a good chunk of money to bring in Santander as DH. Another Switch hitter helps the lineup. If not Justin Turner would definitely be the veteran presence needed.
Here’s the Bryce Miller Splitter video I mentioned- Why Bryce Miller took a HUGE step in 2024..

bad take, obviously we could use more power but power was not the offensive issue this year, strikeouts/contact was.

Appreciate it! I just hope they improve greatly offensively.. and bring back Edgar in a big roll!
awesome vid

Really awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!

No way the ownership crosses $170 mil in payroll…. They are painfully cheap!
Reminds me of working at large corporate they don't spend to improve they just band aid things.
Out of our five starting pitchers - Bryce Miller is my favorite , hope we keep and lock him up
He took an unbelievable step up this year
Low cost op: Kyle Farmer. decent glove at 3b, get a rebound year. Low K's.

Love the lineup and Cals (stats) are dumper😭
Also love the vid and very realistic but man if only we had an owner that wanted to win
This team sp look like the braves in the 90s that the closest comparison just nasty suff in every pitcher.
Phils are not trading Painter and especially not bohm and painter as a packager for a starter that they don’t need
Garver was a Ranger and Twin befora we got him, not an Astro.
I like Michael Arroyo a lot, although Yandy would be a great add for the price.
Would love to add a Japanese or Korean player to our roster.

Yandy would be huge for 2025-26!
@@TheCouchGM I'm too emotionally attached to our top 10 prospects.
Love your predictions. 🙏🙏🙏
Bryan Woos breakout season has arrived
3 moves: bring Sewald back. Munoz, sewald, santos, and mid season -Brash. Get Lowe from TB. Trade Hani for Chris Taylor(new team/new opp for both).
What is that monstrosity of a Mariner's logo in the AI generated moving picture 😆🤣 Mariners, Bareners

Lost the silver slugger to a part time catcher
Yeah Perez’s stats were certainly better, but Cal was the best full time catcher.
Take Nolan Arenado. Please.
