I’m surprised the pitching stats didn’t take into account how much pitchers get injured in each organization. The M’s seem to be above average with their starting pitchers not getting injured. For the organizations that emphasize velocity over everything else I would think more of their pitchers would get injured.
Ms work on such a razor thin margin by not investing in their roster. If they lose just one starter or Julio to a season-ending injury, the season is over. They have to get some depth. Dodgers were devastated by huge injuries and still got the chip because they have depth. Ms have got to use the farm to get some depth so they don’t run Cal/the starters/Muñoz into the ground and count on Julio to go 35/35 to make the playoffs.
The Mariners should target two teams for trades, the Diamondbacks and the Royals. Trade for Jake McCarthy and Gino Groover on the Diamondbacks. Get Vinnie Pasquantino from the Royals and possibly Javier Vaz. Trade JP, Castillo and Robles with whatever other baggage they have along with prospects. Bring up Cole Young to play SS, Michael Arroyo to play 2B and Evan Williamson to swing duties at 3B/DH with Groover. Bring up Brandyn Garcia to have a starting LHP. Lineup would be as follows. RF McCarthy LF Arozarena CF Julio C Cal 1B Vinnie Pasquantino 2B Arroyo DH Raley/Williamson 3B Groover SS Young Starting Pitchers Gilbert Kirby Garcia Miller Woo I truly don't understand why kids that have a decent walk rate and low K rate aren't valued more. Baseball isn't all about hitting for power like pundits are putting in these kid's heads nowadays. You need table setters that are consistent at the plate to help put pressure on the pitching and give your superstars better chances at the dish as well. For every Ohtani/Judge you need a Luis Arraez type of hitter to compliment your lineup and create more runs. Also, a strikeout is a missed opportunity and should be looked at as such. If I was a manager and had a guy striking out at a 30% clip, they'd be riding the pine until they can figure out how to make contact with the ball. The new age stats also muddy the game in my opinion. A homerun is a homerun, double a double, etc. It doesn't matter what launch angle it's hit or how far it goes, the goal of the game is to get on base and/or drive in runs when hitting, so the more hits and less k's the better.
Great info! Nice work! I am of the belief that our holes should be filled from the farm. Our pitching can keep us in games as they improve. Williamson to third base, Young and Bliss for second, Raley and Locklear for first. Bullpen filled from the farm also. I hope this is the front office’s plan.
Yayyy, this means we can be mediocre for the next 10 years as well! So excited to watch this next batch of promising talent be pissed away when the ownership refuses to spend any money.
The Mariners have no window, get that in your minds right now… these prospects might be fun while they’re cheap MLB guys but just remember that this franchise is a revolving door of mediocrity
Need to use those assets and trade for players. The window is now. Not two years from now
Nah man, make smart moves and the window will be open a lot longer

Think Cal gets a new contract soon, and if so, what would be a ballpark number for a platinum gloved catcher? Yikes lol.

Tbh I’d stick with Robles then trade away pieces and get McCarthy
@carsonperrault7797 if possible, yes keep Robles, but McCarthy would be a legit leadoff hitter that's proven himself

I don’t even have the energy to explain how idiotic this take is.
You are insane if you think this will work and I can only imagine you like pain.
@@zachremsberg3925 thank you, and God bless!

Maybe 2 years from now for those guys, excepting maybe Cole Young. Not in 2025, still too young.
