  • In Major League Baseball the number 1 overall pick is not only a chance to rebuild your team, but a chance to draft a generational talent that can be the face of your franchise. Some teams luck out and they receive a pick that is MLB ready from the day they were drafted and others end up like the Astros who had 3 straight #1 overall picks yet only 1 saw consistent time in the majors.
Watch to find out who every number one pick since 2010 was and how their careers have panned out….

Yeah it's gotta feel rough to be in that position. From being on top of the world to struggling and maybe not even making it into the big league. Having a bad attitude about it could destroy you for the rest of your life. I'm glad he was able to make peace with things and accept that even though he didn't make it to the top, he made it farther than most ever will and enjoy all he's done.

@@iAmWinterCoat Holiday will be fine. The jump from AAA to MLB is significant. As Ellias pointed out, due to a lot of pitching injuries the MLB quality starters in the minors are non existant. I also wanted to say, I was definitely confused at 8:24 because you hadn't specified that the list was including only qualified pitchers, even if they threw over 50 innings. As a Mets fan, I paused there for a sec and was like "Wait, didn't Jacob DeGrom throw like 100 innings or so in 2021 and had damn near a 400 ERA+?!" LOL. But I quickly figured you meant just qualified pitchers, especially after you pointed out right afterwards that it was due to the low sample size. That 2020 season was definitely wacky, especially for the record books, I always forget to think harder about stats that came out of that season.

You know you suck when the White Sox don't want you and you gotta resort to writing a book that sold 11 copies. And don't tell me "oh yeah well the DODGERS wanted him back" because he was brought back 1)as a favor to his agent 2)as a fan favorite, which is understandable but it's not because he is the 'missing piece' to a championship lol

I’ll admit I took the clickbait..but subsequently stuck around for the entire video. Seeing this perspective for each individual career is wild. Much like we’re used to with social media, MLB focuses on the highlights, i.e. silly money contracts, HR races, overall wins (obviously, as it’s a team sport). The extent of my interest tends to fluctuate with the success or lack thereof of my hometown team; which I’d imagine is much the same for most. Now THIS perspective is emotional! As if I needed something else to over-analyze😂 , now I’ll be afraid every error results in shattered dreams and surgery. I’ll just have to suck it up though since I’m well aware there’s no crying in baseball. This video is brilliant. Loved every second. ❤

Nice video! I get it how we can rate guys as a Busts or meh from where we sit. i’m an old guy… I’m in awe of anybody who’s played in the show even for just one at bat or 1/3 of an inning pitched. You have to grind to get that far and get some breaks. I
grew up with a kid who had a one and 1 record as a pitcher in the Biggs. He also batted 1.000 1 for 1. still in awe that he got to experience that. It was back in the 1980s clue: he came from the same hometown is Keith Hernandez.

I didn’t see it mentioned in the video but Correa was dealing with plantar fasciitis in one of his feet for most of the 2023 season. He said if the twins weren’t in the playoff race he would have shut himself down due to how bad the pain was and it was clearly affecting his play but he decided to be out there every day instead and play through it. That’s why his numbers were down

Very interesting that all of the Astros’ stars had career-highs and one of the best home records in baseball in 2017. Almost like they knew what pitch was coming or something…what was that banging noise?? 🤔🤔

this is a good video, and by the way in Pittsburgh, we do really like Henry Davis, but one thing you got wrong is he did NOT adjust nicely to the outfield last year. That move was a disaster, other than his arm. And if Endy Rodriguez didn’t get hurt, the Pirates still wouldn’t have put him out there. It might’ve meant an end to Andrew McCutchen as the DH though.

That picture of Paul Skenes kills me everytime. It epitomizes someone that grew up in the rich area of south Orange County, down to the rich white gold digger girlfriend. Lol. The pic reminds me of Korvo in the 'Solar Opposites' when he gets trapped in the Stockiverse. "Ohhh button-downs! They're wearing the uniform of the coastal elite!" 🤣🤣🤣
I used to fix the elevators at the high schools down in south OC and you can tell the student parking from the staff parking by the Maseratis and Range Rovers in the student parking and Hondas and Kias in the staff.

Orioles have been killing it in the drafts lately.
Adley, Gunnar Henderson and now Jackson Holliday. That’s a deadly young core there.
And that’s not even considering guys like Colton Cowser and Heston Kjerstad who could end up being really solid players.

Re: the blown stolen base call in the 2007 ALCS
That wasn’t a steal attempt, he hit a ball off the monster and was “thrown out” trying to stretch it into a double.
    He was clearly safe

MLB didn't just "start to crack down" on sticky substances. Trevor Bauer forced them to do it.
Say what you want about him, but he did what no player had the balls to do in the Steroids era. Stand up to the weak-willed MLB hierarchy. He forced MLB to enforce their own rules. He flaunted the rule, and said, "Hey, enforce this, or I'll publicize how you're not."

I taught Biology and Chemistry at *LVHS* from 2004-2014. I had both Bryan and Bryce in class. Bryce was not _”basically baseball Jesus”_ at school. At least wasn’t treated like he was baseball Jesus. He was actually one of the most humble and kindhearted kids I ever had the pleasure of teaching. I remember watching him get up from a table where about 10 or so of his friends were gathered and walk over to sit next to a kid that pretty socially awkward and struggled making friends. Bryce just started making conversation and connecting with him. I thought it was really wholesome and healthy-minded that a 14yo boy noticed the kid that everyone else seemed to ignore and made him feel seen. People might not like him because of how competitive or hotheaded he gets, but I can attest that he is someone that you’d want as a friend or a neighbor.
