John 20:21 Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.” When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld.” From this as the church was "led into all truth" by the Holy Spirit the sacrament of reconciliation developed. You may not put faith in it but it comes to us from Jesus himself.

Meditation: Lord, how quickly and easily I run from You. Fearful of losing my will, I run from Yours, knowing full well, like the young rich man in Scripture, that in following You I must give up what I cling to. My Lord, as I run from You let me stumble over your love and mercy so that I may fall into your arms and cling to your loving embrace.
@Teresa Bogus Well said! I’m publishing a weekly UA-cam video on episodes from the life of Don Bosco, entitled ST JOHN BOSCO by JOE ZAMMIT. In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you
Confession is a beautiful grace, it’s never easy to go and reveal the things you still have not overcome. God wants our hearts , our love, our humility. I’m also directionally challenged 🤣😂your story is hilarious , love the honesty. Keep happy and laugh at yourself and lost is a place too!🤣
Sounds like working the 1st Step of AA "We admitted we were powerless over alcohol and our lives are unmanageable" I been practicing that for years and this video reminds me to do it with all my sins. Thank you
This is a wonderful video. But I have to say, being bad at directions isn't a sin. It's a lack of prudence, it requires humility and help to improve, it is a weakness. But not a sin. For it to be a real sin it has to be intentional. Getting lost isn't intentional. For the areas of life where we are imprudent or where we need to grew in greater excellence and virtue, yes it takes a growing sense of humility so that we can become more reliant on God's grace to guide us and help us to grow. I love that he mentioned the Jesus Prayer.
Thank you Fr. Mark-Mary, I would imagine I speak for many when I say that I really needed to hear this today. I believe that the gift of confession is one of the most precious gifts we Catholics have. My Protestant friends don’t quite get it. They say ‘I go straight to the source.’ By consciously verbalizing our sins to our priest we get to recognize these weaknesses. Something you really don’t consciously get when you just think about your sin. Knowing that you are bringing the same sin to confession ‘yet again’ brings this weakness to the forefront of our consciousness. If you have not been to confession in some time, don’t wait. You will not regret it when you leave the confessional with a renewed feeling of lightness and energy. I have a reminder on my phone. As soon as I’m finished my confession and back in the car I move my calendar reminder out four weeks. I always try my best to go at least once every four weeks.
Thank you Father! ALWAYS good timing - I went to first Saturday Reconciliation this morning and the more I confess the same sin, the more I sometimes feel that it's (the nature of the sin) ingrained in me. I know that it does not define me but that it is something I need to pray about and work on. Thanks for the gentle reminders!!
Thank you so much Fr. I have struggled with the same sins for years and only recently realized how much my self reliance....insidious pride...fed into that cycle. I literally just took notes on this video. Its as though you were speaking directly to my heart. Thank you!
When I cling to Jesus, I remember that my clinging is his clinging through me to him. After all, all strength comes from him and so does all goodness so if you ask him to cling to you where you cannot cling then you are clinging to him everywhere.

I so appreciate your failure with directions!!! Totally unrelated but very funny story - when we moved to our new house (now 20 years ago, no smart phones, no gps), my dh lovingly wrote down directions to every important place in town - the grocery store, church, library, bank, etc on pretty, colorful index cards. I used them faithfully the first 2-3 wks. I was figuring it all out! I wasn't stupid. Then the town switched two one way streets to go the other direction! Couldn't believe it. My dh told me at dinner and even the kids laughed as he said the town did it just to mess with me. To this day I think they did as I can't see any other reason. I got lost the very next day and in my anxiety couldn't even remember where I lived. I was alone, so I couldn't ask my kids. I was in tears and then I realized - my house was near the local high school! I was saved; I nonchalantly walked in the next gas station, asked if could get directions to the high school. No one laughed or thought it was odd; the gentleman even said, 'no problem, it can be hard to find' - he wrote them down (avoiding the one way streets!) and I got home safe and sound. Now, I have schedule confession this weekend :-)
Yes. You're right. You're confessing also hear. It is possible to get rid of all sins, even venial ones, by God's grace. Grace is more powerful than any temptation. We sin because we find it difficult to deny ourselves. Now, by God's grace we can win all temptations always, immediately and easily. The secret is by growing in our love for God. Make sure you have a local guide if you come to Brownsville TX. Wrong lane on the Interstate on your way to Holy Family parish will trap you in a lane to Mexico.
As St. Paul said, "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak". In one way we are unlike Christ and His Mother in which we are conceived in original sin not in a State of Grace we are fallen sinners. Even after we are Baptized born again in which the original sin is forgiven and we enter into a State of Grace made a people of God we are still under the effects of original sin therefore we still struggle with our sins in a cycle of falling from Grace repenting for our sins and being restored to God's Grace until the last hour of our lives. God places no restriction on the num!ber of times we repent for the same sins we commit over and over again which is St. Peter came to the Lord and asked, "Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times? 'No, not seven times, 'Jesus replied, 'but seventy times seven!". Put that together with what St. Paul stated about the the spirit is willing but the flesh being weak we we all succumb to our sins even those which we repeat over and over again in a struggle to overcome them. This is how I see it the penitent already knows what they had done was wrong which is why they confess their sins they already acknowledge their guilt for having committed these sins. The Priest should be like Christ and forgive them their sins absolving them. In my opinion giving advise to the penitent is a waste of time because they already know what they done was wrong and therefore they already know what they need to do in order to prevent themselves from committing those sins again but as St. Paul stated the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. I think it would be better for the Priest to listen rather giving them advise which could be taken by the penitent as judging them. So listen to their confession withholding your judgement and absolve them of their sins and prescribe their penance.

I would have sent a private message if I could because the Sacrement of reconciliation has always been so freeing to me. I had a recent experienced though of confessing the same sin for the 3rd time. I’m really trying to work on this and returning weekly to confession was to humble myself and keep working on it because I truly have a contrite heart. I left the confessional feeling worse than when I went in. The impatience I felt was so shaming to me I was tearful when I left and had a very heavy heart. Fortunately for me we have Adoration of Blessed Sacrement during the time our priest is hearing confession so I was able to give that sadness to our Lord. I was reminded that Jesus knows everything about me and loves me completely. Perhaps Father was having a hard day. He is replacing our priest while he is away. Don’t think I’ll return to confession again though until our regular priest returns.

Do not be so confident of atonement that you add sin to sin. Do not say "His mercy is great, he will forgive the multitude of my sins, for both mercy and wrath are with Him and his anger rests on sinners." 1 thessalonians 4:3 "For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that you obtain from unchasity. Who ever disregards this, disregards not man, but God." Two major verses that helped me have better decision making skills! Let's keep praying for each other! 😁 im praying for you!

For me its mortal sin 13 years away from the church gave me this addiction to tarot videos(divination). I prayed the rosary recently for a whole month all mysteries everyday the severe depression I had became mild to almost non existent.I took that as a sign that I should be catholic again,(as I am baptized so I continued praying the rosary.Soon enough I felt the urge to go to confession and I went to Fatima and received forgiveness. However this sin is so deeply rooted in my life I did it again I am so ashamed and I Feel like giving up.Maybe Im just not meant for heaven:( I still pray the rosary and asked mother Mary to intercede for me in getting rid of this mortal sin.But again IM ashamed I feel like the worst sinner
Please do not despair remember: For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting. God bless I will pray for you
Pray the Rosary daily, it will weaken your attachment to sin...

Do not say "His mercy is great, he will forgive the multitude of my sins, for both mercy and wrath are with Him and his anger rests on sinners."
1 thessalonians 4:3 "For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that you obtain from unchasity.
Who ever disregards this, disregards not man, but God."
Two major verses that helped me have better decision making skills! Let's keep praying for each other! 😁 im praying for you!

When you are in the middle of sinning, in the beginning, or just done it: beg Mary to help you. She will help.
Amen.💜✝🙏All prayer is powerful but I think the most powerful prayers are from those who struggle in the same areas who have the same weaknesses and who have been through the same types situations as the ones are praying for.
Every time you go to Confession know you are un-nailing Christ from the Cross, St John Vianny
Don't feel bad. New York is hard to navigate for anyone. And traffic is terrible.
Ive repented and im crying as we speak i need help 😞
God bless I will pray for you
Perfect video!
