This video will explain how to install Free McBoot into another PS2 Memory Card! This DOES NOT require a Mod Chip! But it does require a Free McBoot memory card already! This works for All memory cards above 4MB! eBay is the best place to get already modded cards.

I already have it, but the mem card it's on is falling apart. Everything online just says to buy one that's already done, which is completely unhelpful.

You could have started with the pre-hacked card in slot 1 to save the confusion. Also you don't need to format the new memory card as long as there is enough space on it for the free mcboot files. That way if there is any save game data on it already, it won't be lost.
Yeah but it's recommended to not use a card with FMCB with saves and definitely not for saving your games on it.

Well if your PS2 has a hard drive inside of it you can use the HD Loader instead to make a Free McBoot memory card which is very simple.
Just letting everyone know this does NOT work for ALL memory cards. You need to ensure that the memory card you have has MagicGate on it. else the install will fail.

When I turn on the ps2, the fmcb image flashes onto me and then the picture goes, and then the screen becomes black

I asked, because Modchips or faulty/non-supported USB-Drives can cause these kind of issues, NOT because you/anyone would NEED it with FMCB/FHDB...
You are certainly wrong about it being the newest PS2-Version, because if that were the case it would not BOOT (automatically)...
The logo is shown, which proves that it had been booted...

Hello, I have two questions: 1) Will I be able to play PS1 Games as well or it only happens with PS2 Games? 2) Will I be able to use Action Replay For both PS1 and PS2 Games? I managed to find Action Replay codes for both PS1 and PS2 Games but every time I try to use the Action Replay CD on a PS1 Emulator I get an error telling me that I don't have permission to open the file so I'm not able to test at least Action Replay CD for PS1. Hope this makes sense.

I just bought a memory card with Free McBoot and it launches correctly, but when I go to uLaunchELF, it doesn't recognize my USBdrive. It does however read memory cards, so I don't know what the problem is. I've formated it in FAT32, and I've tried with other USB drives, but it doesn't seem to work.
My PS2 is the PHAT version, and it it not modded.

Sorry, I don't know if you can help me, I already have free mcboot and I have to copy a save to ps2. I followed the whole procedure on pc with save builder and copied to usb. But when copying the save from usb to ps2 when I press R1 the menu does not appear on the right, so I can't copy it, why? Thank you
I followed all the steps, and I have an SCPH 75001, but all I get is a black screen when I boot up with the memory cards and USB stick inserted. No PS2 logo, no Free McBoot logo, nothing at all. plz help.

I've spent all day to realise av had to buy a mcboot memory card off eBay as it's cheaper and there are nobody to show how to put the mcboot on the memory card (manually) I've sat all day watching videos until a said f##k this I'll buy the memory card as I've spent 7 hours trying to get this myself . £8 from eBay solved all this crap . Nice video tho you should have shown how to do this without buying off a stranger

Hi, yes it worked, however not ALL usb memory sticks work. i tried 2 and no luck, then i used a scandisk 8mb and worked. many thanks anyway James
Uhhh, i wanted the title of the video. This is the exact opposite.
I took a step by step that I see I entered the hard drive and without having time to install mcboot the ps2 lost the signal and when I open it now it writes for a few seconds and writes modbo chip and again loses the signal. All this without having time to install anything. Can you help me get it back?

It's worth mentioning that you don't need a mod chip in your PS2 to run free mcboot.
If you have a fat model PS2 you can install the software onto an external hard drive and run it via the network adapter.

Can i just not reformat my usb because its already on fat32 and i have lots of games will it still work if i put the fmcb package inside the usb flash drive?

ya'll youngins are so impatient these days all it takes is a bit of digging and researching on youtube if you really want it ,then you'll find all the files you need to burn to a disk to allow you to install freemcboot it's not that hard

Please HELP. I have 2 usb sticks. The one that i'm playing normal games and another i haven't used. Now i want to use and the second. I formatted to fat32 and i copied all the content from the first functional usb to the new one. I plugged it on ps2 and i choosed opl. I can see the games in the list but when i'm running a game i get a black screen. I tried the method with defragment but i have no red boxes. Everything seems to be ok. Now if i plug my first usb is playing normal...strange huh? What can i do to use another usb stick? Am i missing something here? Please respond, i am new to this ps2 scene. Thanks in advance.

Thomas Mcdougall i figured out that my usb stick was broken and was half working in very low speeds. Nowadays i plugged in an hdd and games are running smoothly.

The developers of FMCB would not be happy you are encouraging people to buy FMCB as it was meant to be free and never sold even as preinstalled software and they include a license stating just that. The methods for installing FMCB on a totally unmodded PS2 are actually cheaper then buying one of these rip off memory cards (I only call them that because the jacked up prices are ridiculous for those FMCB memory cards in many cases when a normal Sony memory card or other license 3rd party one can be had for more then half the price of many of the FMCB ones and again FMCB was meant to be free hence the name Free McBoot) installed on cheap chinese knock off memory cards. There are several ways you can install FMCB for basically free and I have videos on my own channel showing several of these methods that I myself have performed as I have never bought a preinstalled memory card.
The reason why the preinstalled FMCB cards exist, are for the groups of people who are having a hard time to install it from scratch (like bruh, FreeDVDBoot isn't something that works on all PS2 versions, do you really want to waste a crate of DVD-Rs just trying to find the right write speed, then you realize that your PS2 actually doesn't support it in the first place?), and remember, people pay for convenience, THATS THE THING. And after they buy it, they can just, you know? get their genuine PS2 8MB memcard to make a duplicate FMCB card that's more reliable!
