hey man, I tried doing everything as you said. I have a ps2 slim so downloaded that specific iso and burned it on a HP DVD 4.7GB at 1x speed. I also tried doing it with a CD but when I insert the DVD and try starting my ps2 it does not automatically go into the launch elf and shows nothing. what should I do?

that sounds right - instead of burned discs you have two other options - if you have a phat ps2 you can install a hard drive, if you have a slim you can buy a $20 travel router that can share an SMB share from an external portable hard drive, OPL will see it as a network share

I first accessed uLaunchELF using my SwapMagic 3 CD which I initially used to play an import game I bought. But I used uLaunchELF to copy my PS2 bios for use on PCSX2. This was before I ever heard of the FreeMCBoot exploit.

I’m a bit confused if my model works or not, I’m looking at the compatibility page but it’s a bit weird for my model. SCPH-50001 is my PS2, 1.40 is the browser, 2.00 is the CD player, 1.11 is PlayStation driver, and 3.02U is the dvd drive.

Blaine, I have been searching for ways to take an existing ps2 hdd 2TB and copying some of the games from that hdd to a smaller 80GB hdd. How do I extract the games from the 2TB drive and install them on the 80GB drive? Will HDL Installer do it all?

I'm struggling to find a DVD burner with a speed of 1x, most of them on amazon have 8x speed or so, and I don't know if that is the maximun speed and it goes all the way down to 1x or if that is the only speed. Would appreciate if someone recommends a model that has 1x and is not very expensive
the IMGburn program should have settings to lower your disc read speed for that particular disc. The advertised capacities is the maximum it can handle. I have successfully burned Sega CD games (as those use a REALLY low read speed due to how old the hardware is), so you shouldn’t have an issue with DVD burns as well
@@ongakuwotabeta The advice that you should use the lowest possible speed is just old misinformation and doesn't make any sense at all. What matters the most is using the right disc type (DVD-R or DVD+R) from a reputable brand (Verbatim discs usually work well and are readily available) and burning with a speed that is supported by your burner. Turning on OPC is also recommended for a potentially better burn.

It worked for me on my SCPH-390xx not only using 4x burn speed but also using a DVD+R instead of a DVD-R.
i followed all these steps and inserted the disc but the console didn't recognize it.

This doesnt show how to put OPL Loader onto the Free Mcboot card once done ! So you cant load any games until you put OPL on there for playing games

You can use a 32MB Max Memory card. It works perfectly and you'll have a lot of room for saves.

I cant see how this works? The ps2 wont read the DVD-R as it doesn't meets Sony's ps2 disc requirement, I suggest your PS2 is already modded.
