- As a flight attendant you have to do some reserve duties, but as an emirates cabin crew you get a whole roster on reserve!
It’s a crazy thrill sometimes, not knowing where you’re going to fly to, or maybe not fly at all!
But I’m loving the change up in my flights, here’s to more Asia destinations 🌎

If you're on standby at LX, there is practically no facility at the airport, you can't leave the building to, say get a snack from the public airport area, it lasts at least twice as long.. home standby: 12 hours, be able to be at the airport within 1 hour.. (which in this day and age is only feasable if you live very close to the aiport).. and to top it off: flights resulting from standby can shift your ENTIRE schedule and you can cancel all your social engagements.. v.v

We only have home standby and it lasts 12 hours.
My old airline virgin used to be 11 hour home standbys

This is true. So many pilots go through standby at EGHQ I didn’t know it was the same for flight attendants
Ex EK crew! Hated airport standby!! Except for 1 time I always got called on nasty turnarounds. Do not miss any of it. Good luck to crew there now
That is so cool. I subscribed because I have been flying all my life. I have flown all over the world. I probably have 2,000,000 miles in the air. I get excited every time I get on a plane which is quite often.

But at the same time I would hate it... Only getting paid after take off, no routine, no family planning because you're always away, difficult partnership for same reason... ☹️

Ugh! I hated being on standby reserve. I had to do that the first 5 yrs of my flying career! Then another 5 years of being on RSV every other month. Phew! I stayed on for 42 years though and some of my friends are still flying at 82 yrs old, doing long hauls. Lax- Mel- Syd!!!

Do you get paid for that ? I read somewhere that cabin crew gets paid only when aircraft doors are closed. What if you won’t fly that day ?
That’s not entirely true. I get a certain amount of wage that I get no matter how many hours I fly that month. The benefits on top depend on how much you fly.
Depends on the airline and region. Some are dictated by union contracts others are not.
I don't think that would be legal in Australia.
You get a basic wage, hourly flying duty (lower for economy crew, higher the grade the more hourly rate) and per diems when you fo a night stop. Also you get discounts around DXB with FACE (Flight Attendant Club of Emirates) card, restaurants, clubs, bars and access to some facilities
I hope that women get stipend foe how much that needs to be done to exist in role...makeup, hair, legs shaved ,hose, shoes etc. And should if dont.

There are airlines that allow you to always come back to your base soo you doon't necessarily need to be away.

Yes, correct, what if the person is in bathroom, or anything, text message would be preferred,
No neeed to watch the screen. The lady responsible of the standbye lounge give us a call whenever we are pulled out for a flight

This sounds exciting and completely adventurous, but I can see how crews after doing this for 7 years get tired of this. I doubt it can be easy having your plans rearranged like that and isn’t easy when wanting to start a family. However I think this is a really fun job (sometimes), but that’s like any job all have ups and down

No of course not. You're at work. They can call you at any point so you can't leave.
