Ahhhh what a busy reserve month! With my seniority (after 6 years of flying) I am only on reserve about 3 months out of the year so I wanted to document this past month all in one video. Thank you so much for being here, for taking the time out of your day to watch this video & I hope you stick around for more 😊 If you have any questions about being a flight attendant please put them in the comment section below and I will do my best to answer them here or make an entirely separate Q&A type video! JJ ❤✈

I've been lucky enough to have a good job in phx az, working at sky harbor airport. I was part of a team that cleans the inside of airplanes. I've seen Michael Khare doing challenge accepted video. She went to be a flight attendant. So I have a basic idea ❤

I was on an AA flight last night. I was sitting in economy but travelling "premium" because I'd been rebooked from first class. The flight attendant gave me a beer at no charge. Usually when I'm sitting in economy I'm charged for a beer. Was this just the discretion of the flight attendant or was there a reason it was free?

Thank you for the vid. I'm kinda curious how you Gal's Iive and work. I sailed as an Engineer for about 15 years. Loved it. But travel back and forth to the ship! Hated it. Only way l can get thru a Iong trip is get up and go back aft to talk to the stew's and anyone else happening by. So thank you Gal's 😊 for doing what you do. Stewardessing isn't for everyone, l can sure see that.

In my teens I really wanted to be a flight attendant. I had flown many times to and from European airports, plus 2 return long-haul. I thought it was such a great job and the flight attendants always looked so lovely in their uniforms.
My parents got the daughter of their friends to come talk to me. She, whilst enjoying an excellent salary and free flights for holidays, brought me down to earth by explaining what the training and everyday working was like. I went to university and found my ideal place in life.
I love flying and, having been raised well, have never been a Karen on a flight.
I can see why you are so good at what you do. You have a calmness and personality to handle what can be a very stressful job.
So glad I found your channel.

Julia I gotta say, your channel brings a sense of comfort to me. I’m not a flight attendant, but I work crazy hours/shifts for my job & I can work up to 6/7 in a row. And sometimes we get notified about changes just a few hours in advance or whatnot. And I’m also about an hour away from work like yourself. So it’s definitely comforting to know that I’m not the only one who has a grind like this haha. Keep up these awesome vlogs!

Hi Julia. What a crazy time you had. I'm not a flight attendant, but know the airline industry very well as I'm a travel agent. Have been for the last 32 years and our job is crazy and underpaid - as well. Imagine dealing with all of these delays which mess up clients trips and trying to navigate in between all of this. The times when the airlines paid us commissions included in the ticket price - are long gone, since right after 9/11, so we have to charge service fees for issuing airline tickets. This video shows clearly how hard you guys work and how important for the passengers - is to have a trip cancellation/trip interruption insurance. Greetings from Ontario, Canada 🤗

More seriously, the last part of April and all of May has been real rough weather wise, especially in the Midwest, “Tornado Alley”, and along the Gulf Coast; I can’t remember such a stretch for such a sustained time period since at least 2011 or ‘12. Dealing with obnoxious men, horrible people, and missing my daughter, it was not the life for me. Two years later, I met my husband, who flew for UAL. You are a great flight attendant. Don’t forget to take care of yourself. It gets rough after a while without good sleep and not seeing your significant other. I am a retired RN. All the on call killed me in the end. I appreciated your honesty, remind the airline to update the customers with delays and it doesn’t hurt to say why. My last personal trip to Vegas was delayed in Milwaukee for 3 hours. First, 30 minutes then one hour and beyond. If it had been a timely notice, I could have slept in. I’m know weather plays a huge part… storms, freezing rain or snow here in the Midwest

You’re referring to a ferry flight! A deadhead is just when we fly in a passenger seat along with other passengers as well. 🙂

It's funny. I absolutely understand the flight limitations. I worked in IT and really loved long hours. And I was not paid for them either. You can do and learn things about networks, servers and applications when there's no one around. So it was work those hours, learn things and become better. But of course, I did not have other folks lives in my hands. So I am very happy that flight and cabin crew should be well rested.

Plus to think that you're making content, editing -- thank you for all the time and effort you put in, especially during reserve months! Glad to hear that July is around the corner, with trips of your choosing (hope you do make it to Vegas!) & birthday celebrations! :) Safe travels!

Even when I don't have a lot time to sit down and have a full meal before boarding, I just buy a bag or 2 of Hot Cheetos (usually Lime flavored) and go. I snack on those during the flight. Really helps to have at least someting.

I was a loadmaster of C-141 aircraft in the Air Force. Not quite a flight attendant, but similar wear and tear on the body. We took care of passengers as well as cargo and the weight and balance of the aircraft. great job. One benefits, we got to push paratroopers out the door in flight. There may be passengers that flight attendants would like to do the same thing to.

I worked for Delta and they are pretty much the same. Except that Delta can fly you in to your day off. We just learn to be 100% available and 100% flexible. You learn quickly to pack for both warm weather destinations and cold weather destinations. You get used to the uncertainty. LOVED the job! I got to see the world and get paid for it!

Enjoy your stories and experiences. I’ve always been curious about the behind the scenes activities of a flight attendant. I do have a question that I have not heard an explanation for: do the airlines pay for your hotel rooms and meals while in your reserve time, or do you have to cover that expense yourself? Thanks for the details you share!!

And I thought maintenance was stressful. I spent over 30 years working on aircraft of various types. Also, I spent not quite 10 years repairing consumer electronics in a quick service environment so I think schedules were very important for me too.
Thanks for an enlightening video. Love to your extended family.

Lovely Julia! I flew for 30 years and finished up 4 years ago due to me moving too far from the airport after divorce!
I do miss the chaos to be honest! We are always so adaptable and suck up the spanners thrown at us! Delays, weather, medical, mechanical, lightning strikes the list goes on!
The most frustrating thing is when we have weather related problems and passengers are shaking their heads in anger like we have planned the weather to piss them off!
You should be paid from sign on to sign off!
Stay happy and safe travels! Xxx

I dont know how I ended up watching your video as it popped up on my screen. But I have fear of flying as I have watched too many National Geographic videos on aviation disasters. And I am paranoid of flying. You seem to be so calm and have no worry like I do about flying. Just watching makes me worry. But was fun to watch your video and learnt something about the life of a flight attendant. Best of luck to you.
