As I have been watching, learning and researching about being a Cabin Crew, I have learned that Cabin Crew are getting paid more than enough. But. Why? Why are there still people who get decent salary but still get to steal from someone... Just, why? 🤦♀️🤷♀️
I still remember my first year, crying on the bus on the way to work because I was so scared of being bullied by managers or fellow crew, even now I still get it from time to time, but I've learned to fight back. These people are so toxic and predatory, the minute they feel that you're weak they'll keep picking on you. Going to work shouldn't be this anxiety inducing, I hope they do some sort of psychological test for all crew, because the amount of narcissists and sociopaths I've encountered in the airline industry is way too high. Stay strong my people.
A lot of people underestimate how much power customers have in these kinds of situations. If I see an employee being treated badly by their supervisor, I'm going to report the supervisor to _their_ supervisor (and likely rant and rave about how wonderful the employee in question was, because I know the supervisor is going to try to pull some shit).
To be honest I’m glad to hear that. If I saw bullying while I’m aboard the aircraft cleaning I would very likely go to the flight attendant being bullied and discreetly ask if they want me as a neutral witness. Having experienced that kind of bullying in another job I know how mentally destructive it can be and how much a witness could help.
Extremely tiring. Apart from the rules, pressure, stress, duty & responsibility to be done. Already hard, you have another thing to face for example like this bossy manager or cuckoo supervisor or could probably checker. It is really challenging you to the limit, sometimes around 5 hours flight felt way much harder than doing 13-14 hours flight with nice set of crew.
People like this exists everywhere..there was this supervisor in our airline who was a nightmare. Everyone literally used report sick on her flight. She even got 7-8 people terminated. Finally one crew gathered some evidence of her being rude and mean threatening other crew members and send it over to the base manager and she got terminated😂😂 she used to make crew practice emergency commands in the hotel during layover..what a psycho😂😂
Sounds horrible. But can't you just say No to practicing during layover??! As a Flight Attendant newbie i might even do it, but maybe it's better to learn to say No right from the beginning
Let me guess, business class? Sometimes crew don't click, also the layover is not 24h which used to be 52 to 76h so you're very tired on the way back. Its a very difficult flight, one of the most difficult we gave (at least pre covid). Sometimes it could be things not resolved on the way out, like crew drama or difficult and unsupportive senior and it stresses the crew on the way back.
I wanted to work fr emirate seen I was little but I still don't have the opportunity uptil now I just love the job and am ready to give my all is anyone can help so we can change the odds things that are going on there🙏🙏🙏🙏
I was an Emirates cabin crew for seven years before I went to private flying. Although reflecting back, I am truly grateful for the experience I gained and the exciting life I lived, not to mention friends and beautiful people I had met along my EK journey. However, I also had countless bad experiences with "supervisors on a power trip" mostly due to their insecurities and ignorance. At one point that backstabbing culture was so bad and escalated almost regularly on each and every flight, I was on, among the crew. It was very sad, but that was the culture the office management was supportive of. Finally, I could not see myself working constantly in that unhealthy environment, so I decided to leave for private. Still, Emirates holds a big piece in my heart. Wish them all the best and to the friends, I still have flying for them. Fly safe and stay safe.
Backstabbing never pays off. I had a great time in EK. I used to do my job with care, I had no drama. Yes I used to be very diplomatic🤣but really loved to work hard and makes someones day that I did not care about miserabile people with no life!
Who the hell would work for any airline. Getting up in the middle of the night to get to work. So much of your time used up to get the airport. Pretending to be another person. Too much alone time in hotel rooms that all look the same wherever in the world you are. Grabbing sleep when you can. No routine. Eating and drinking with people you cant stand down route or if you dont sit alone in your hotel cell sorry room. Wages below minimum wage when you factor in the total amount of your time used up to actually do the job. Would rather be on the dole.
I worked for BA too and have a final interview with Emirates tomorrow, but also realising how much easier I had it at BA despite the crap pay! Now I'm worried about working for Emirates. Although I had a few instances with terrible supervisors at BA!
unfortunately there are a lot of frustrated and uneducated people in these jobs who didn't make it out of it and never will.. they project their problems on others. Such behaviour is just embarassing and actually makes me cringe. I feel bad for these mean supervisors, their life is pretty miserable (from an Ex-cabin crew)
So interesting to know that the issues are the same at ALL airlines. I am what you would call a “supervisor” at my airline and I had to laugh. Remembered that I made a commitment to myself that when if I became a “supervisor” that I would never be that way. We all know the different types you must deal with. My theory is how would l like to be treated in this situation. And seriously, humor helps a great deal and can diffuse many situations. Trust me I am FAR from perfect, but do my best to support my crews. As the saying goes, It’s Not What You Say, It’s What You Do.
Sounds like work bully situations for cabin crews are bad. This is very toxic. Well believe in karma. Good will be given more good. Be evil than you will only get evil. Hope the situation gets better.
@@sick9990101You're right it's not, I worked at TUI Airways and it was a fabulous place to work, it really was, Emirates sounds hideously bitchy, what I don't get is why Emirates Supervisors can't deal with problems at the time. what's with all this being a tell tale to management? They're paid as Cabin Supervisors, they need to act like it.
I work for LH since 31 years now. I m a Purser since 21 years. What s going on at these mid eastern airlines like Emirates is a nightmare! These very old fashion way to lead employees is so so last century! People will not build up any loyalty if you treat them like that. An atmosphere of fear is a very bad way to ensure safety also. If you always think you might make a mistake and will be punished you might not want to report something "strange" because you might be wrong and then get again punished. Flight attendants must be encouraged to speak free! Mistakes are a chance to learn. To learn and to improve iso punishment and fear. The Crewspirit and the atmosphere is the most important thing for success. A Crew that really cares. An atmosphere were you can also lough and be a professional you. Passengers don't wanna see cold, fake flight attendants. You make a little mistake..? So what .. we are all just humans. But all that gives a flight an atmosphere. An environment were everybody feel good and safe.
Beleive it or not - i am an ex emirates purser and i was gold on lufthansa because on my vacation i did not mind paying full fare to get away from toxicity during my vacation I was one of the few nationals/ emiratis who worked as cabin crew! I enjoyed lufthansa!
Yes, company full of bossy as**oles, don`t want to work in such environment, because it would make me sick. I had the "pleasure" to work with such people in the past..
Former FA for an American carrier. Had an evil senior attendant who just wouldn't let up on me. All the other FA's kept asking what her problem was with me. After several weeks, I had enough, and quit! Walked off the plane during boarding. They had to cancel the flight and deadhead another FA in to get the plane out. LOL
i almost spit out my coffee. needed a righteous laugh & you provided. something about a dish served cold... many kudos to cabin crew. i have a problem with passengers who hassle the f/a s. if they'd just accept that f/a s are boss in the cabin. its like they think you're only there to serve drinks & tell you to fasten seatbelts. my experiences as passenger has been excellent. class acts. lucky i guess. i found you comment entertaining & informative. thx former dispatcher AE
For the supervisor tagging along: just include him/her in a new group chat then “ cancel “ the outing. And use an other chat to organize the outing with your colleagues.
Emirates needs some organizational psychologists like me to work there. What you’ve described is a prime example of how I work with managers and supervisors to create a positive team environment that is encouraging and supportive thereby providing a better image to the traveling public. What you’ve described is clearly a systemic culture problem within Emirates as a Company. It’s never ok for a supervisor or manager to treat employees like you’ve described.
Wishful thinking hun. The whole culture (and religion) doesn't allow for honest and candid feedback. All sugar coating and genuflection. No interest in such investment in people all of whom are foreigners anyway. It's pretty much use and dump. In fact the mantra in these Gulf countries is, if you don't like it, then leave! It's not your country and will never be
Sounds like they need your expertise and experience. It's dreadful people at Emirates or any airline suffer this. I am always grateful for their service and hard work and say so. I also get treated very well onboard by engaging with the crew.
As a former flight attendant in LCC, I completely understand and relate all the 10 things you mentioned, especially the bully supervisor part. I had the exact same experience like you when I was still new in the company and the supervisor kept bullying for being ‘slow’ and expecting me performed excellently like those seniors who work longer in the company which was not very realistic for me.
Well, I applied to work as a cabin crew for Emirates. My screening day was today and I got rejected. Now I know that I dodged a bullet! Tbh, I don't even care about being a flight attendant too much. I just want a job that allows me to travel the world. Nice video! You're very well-spoken
You might travell the word but you're so tired that you spend your few hours rest sleeping in a hotel bed. Travell the word on holiday, such a better choice.
My mum is an Alitalia cabin purser, she once told me that when Etihad's managment in Alitalia was in place, super strict Etihad supervisors came in. They were as silly as you discribed here, apart from one she flown with, that was so tired because of high workload, that slept the whole flight. I'm not surprised that these middle eastern airlines press their employees until they're exhausted
Thanks for sharing! We're not surprised at all! Would you want to share more stories? Would you want to reach out to us by Email wishcasting@wishcasting.net ? I speak perfect italian too :) We can have a video call and I could interview your mom if she feels like sharing :)
I have a great deal of respect for Emirates and its staff and management. As someone who once dreamt of working with them, I say this kind of professional backstabbing needs to END and all crew need to be taken care of. In addition, I am a medical doctor who has experiences a great deal of professional backstabbing and I pray for the day no co-worker has to put up with this kind of nonsense.
Let's just hope Emirates wakes up and puts in place a reliable reward/punishment system that works both for crew and for Supervisors. It indeed needs to stop. Luckily it doesn't happen often
Management couldn’t care less. In a country or region that isn’t exactly known for the quality of it human rights I very much doubt they would care about your working conditions either.
Wow. Someone should put a stop to this behavior. From what I’m hearing here this is a toxic work environment. This could probably put in danger a flight ✈️
Finally someone spoke up about harassment in Emirates. Personally I have story’s and story’s about the same subject, if there would be more of us to talk about it, maybe our former college’s wouldn’t go through same torture today. Thank you for this video. Respect. Btw i’m pretty sure i’ve flown with you, wherever you are at this point of you’re life I wish you all the best 😉
same here! I could write a book!! haha... but I choose to not even remember, so traumatic! Worked there for 8 years, I don't know how I lasted that long.
All of this explains why my Emirates flight was so mediocre. I found, on all four flights, the service to be very indifferent. The crew must be on edge all the time.
At Etihad I found the hardest part of the job was dealing with the other crew onboard. There are some nice crew but the majority are really not nice people.
Now I get it why that Etihad FA came running like a crazy from the back of the airplane screaming to me to not film her while I was still at the airplane's entrance door. She was literaly crazy 😂 If you don't want to be filmed then don't run towards a camera. 😂
I worked for Etihad as cabin crew for a year and found the crew to be mostly lovely and very friendly, so this is surprising to me that you’d feel this way..
I was Emirates crew for about 6 years, best 6 years ever! Like everything else in life, shit is gonna happen, all comes down to how you deal with it. Currently getting my CPL, can't wait to get back in the air. Happy Flying people :)
Oh my gosh oh my gosh I would love to hear your stories!:) if you like, we can switch social media profiles and you can tell me your flying experience stories:)
Beautiful people with fake smiles really makes me sad in a weird way, I might not be rich but common sense tells me simple things in life what to be careful of. This sounds like a very factual video from a young man with experience with this company. Without these beautiful crew members from around the world I often wonder what these airlines would be like. Imagine living a life pretending to smile and being happy yet so unhappy from the heart. What a horrible life to live.
I used to work for a company and I had a terrible experience with one supervisor that reported me because I was standing at the hotel front desk during the layover check-in. It was my first flight as a trainee and nobody told me where to wait or what to do during hotel check-in. It was really like in the army. I resigned after my first fixed term contract. By the way, the company went bankrupt few years later.
Well, your story sounds like mine except that I worked in a different sector. I was freshly hired for an American fast food restaurant in the capacity of a pre-managerial role. The restaurant had been newly inaugurated . I worked my arse off standing all day long but the working environment was so toxic that it was draining my soul out of my body. Even then, I continued working on until one day, that one infamous supervisor summoned me and told me right on the spot that I'd been fired. The universe around me collapsed, I was stunned and speechless. "You're too slow" was the "feedback". So, I laboured all day long without even taking a break and they didn't even have the grace of giving me a proper feedback on how to work faster (if they thought I was too slow), this didn't make any sense. I didn't even know whether to fight back or just cry. I didn't do anything. Packed my stuff and left feeling so embarrassed that I thought I'd not live another day. But I lived 😂😂 I lived to see the fecking restaurant being shut down because it went out of business. I lived to hear that the bish who had dismissed me unfairly had also been dismissed a few weeks later because of her not-so-ethical working ethics. Toxic people not only kill the morale of others, but bring them down as well, and along with it, they too fall.
Before becoming an Emirates cabin crew I used to watch your videos and could NOT believe that these stories were true. Little did I know that this is all SO true that it hurts. Unfortunately the hierarchy of this company is based on the very common psychology of Power Abuse. And even if not all of the supervisors exploit it at their advantage with the aim of diminishing his/her crew and look bigger and mightier in front of their supervisors and management, there are still quite many who prefer to do so. Not to mention that cabin supervisors mainly get to that position not because of some meritocratic deeds or exceptional leading skill, but only thanks to their seniority in the company (which varies based on the corporate requirements for a specific number of cabin crew employed in a specific time frame), and they're more often than so do not attend an adequate training on how to be a good Team Leader and which techniques to use in order to rocket their teams' synchrony and cooperation.
I didn’t even last a year. It was psychologically nerve-wracking. From the militarily-like training to the super strict rules once you’re ready to fly, i just didn’t know how to cope. I had a supervisor report my shoes not to be Burgundy bright enough for being my second flight. It was only because i had used a cheaper shoe polish but it was really not that bad. I had a warning for it. Being my first working experience abroad and with low self esteem, Incidents like these make me anxious and paranoid, i wish i had know how to cope with it back then and enjoy the experience instead of retreating into my own bubble.
Do supervisors get any financial incentives or even "points" for each crew member they report negatively on? On an unrelated note, some companies (in western countries) actually give supervisors a "points budget" to report on positive things that their employees have done (eg. going above and beyond in providing customer service). Each time a supervisor reports on positive things, points from the "budget" the supervisor is allocated is transferred to the employee. Once the employee accumulates enough points, they can redeem them for things like merchandise on an internal online shopping site. The supervisor is given a goal where he/she must use up all the points in their "budget" by the end of the year. What I described is totally opposite to what is happening at Emirates!
I was 18, first year in aviation and first job, i was crying for like 4 months , I've been bullied from one of my supervisors and i was always flying with her due to my roster... well what can I say.... this job is very hard, everyday something bad or strange happen but is the best job in the world! After almost 2 years she left the company, we met in the crew room, she hugged me and she said that i was one of the best cabin crew she works with. So yeah thanks to her i learnt a lot and i learnt how to do my job properly and very fast even if I still hate her for all the pain she caused me!
I never ever leave comment on ANY youtube videos. But maan, can I just say what an amazing job you do with your videos!!! The way you prepare your content is just wow! I dont know if all your subscribers see how much work you are putting on one video. The way your sentences sound. Very consequent. Also time frame in discription box -amazing! From a colleague down the road - i really admire your videos. Wish you all the best with your youtube channel!
Retired u.s. Crew member. Last year after 51 years. So , I flew in the days of no unions, where it became illegal to fire us because we married or were overweight. Nothing in my 51 years had we dealt with such stupidity or harassment. Would never have been tolerated , even back in the early 70 s. Obviously this harassment would affect your ability to provide good service . How stupid , in reality. I've flown Emirates and they are no better than any other airline. So all of this doesn't make any difference. Just let there be a snitch onboard, good luck with your career. You'd be known all over the system. Wouldn't last. Quite frankly, who would work for them, crap pay, who wants to live in Dubai , sounds like a sweat shop.
If you report and backstab, you get away with it unfortunately. There has been some name and shame within the company, but when management found out about it, they fired the crew who did! Everyone's afraid of name shaming now. It's not an easy place to be in. Luckily such things don't happen that often.
Emirates sounds like a nightmare to work for.Hideous supervisors on power trips whose whole world is about creating a nasty environment for crew in a sardine can at 35,000 ft.Have never travelled on Emirates or been to Dubai and have no desire to either.!.
I am an ex-crew Emirates and it’s so accurate! Keep filling, love your channel! No one is being punished just GR-2. But I still loved my job the best one I ever had! Great destinations and amazing memories with our top notch crew! ✈️❣️
As an ex crew of a leading middle east company, I may say that's the best part of this job !!!!!!!! The crew, and the destinations. Some supervisors are great! Some others are gringy, maybe because they lost the joy of flying and the excitment... Anyway, it's nice to read such a refreshing comment !
I have worked for another major Middle East Airline for almost 8 years. We didn’t have such crew diversity as Emirates, but one big, dominant nationality was known as the most mean and crazy. I can’t tell you how many times people were reported for the smallest and the silliest mistakes (e.g for rolling eyes at your colleague when you’re not even doing that lol). Probably the reason behind that behaviour is just a very big cultural difference, when people think that being in charge is equal to be abusive and rude. For those who grew up in liberal, open minded and progressive societies, that kind of “leadership” is complete Stone Age.
You reveal it all dude. Thx a lot to bring this topic out. I flew for 8 yrs and this things are the most stressful part of being cabin crew, and it doesnt include rude customers, delay or whatsoever. Most of the Spv,They dont have such a leadership skills, always prioritizing their ego but the crziest thing is : they have authority, yet more powerful than anyone else in the cabin. Finish your flight, save more money...then khalas, forget all this bad moment
I always felt US carriers crew were genuinely happy and that reflects on how they treat you. No undue artificial pressures thrown at them. Totally different in the regional culture here though in Middle East.
I also had a supervisor who bullied me what’s worse is we are from the same country. At first she was being friendly but towards the end of the flight she was bullying me and told me I did not do anything on the flight lol. My fellow GR2s noticed that she was bullying me. Oh well karma will hit her one day.
Sad but many behave like this. It's all question of luck not flying with them. Some pursers and supervisors are famous for how mean they are. You always have a hall of fame of the worst ones so you avoid them immediately from the beginning.
OMG you destroyed my imagination of working there 😂 I thought it's the best place to work for, and it's fair everyone is doing well and flowers flying with butterflies on the air 😂😂🤣 uh god, there's not any good healthy place 🤦🏻♂️
Not every supervisor is like this! Let's remember the amazing people in the company that make the flight a wonderful one! But of course you get these exceptions onboard! Just like any job out there :) stay positive, crew life is amazing. Don't let anyone take your dream away
man! That's sad that the crew has to go through this bs. My best friend worked for both EY and EK, she for sure hated Emirates. When I was with EY, I spent the best time of my life despite the challenges over there, I was on my A game when it comes to performance, I did fly with 2 or 3 crazy Cabin Managers or Cabin Seniors before I became CS myself. But I did put people in their places because they were very rude either to me or the other crew. As a safety trainer, I had 100% the right to report anyone, including pursers if they're not following procedures and doing their checks following the diagram and have the CCQRH ( Digital or hard copy) opened. back in the days, reporting for no reason was seen as, you're working so hard and doing your job, if you don't do an Adhoc or give an IR review to the crew you're not doing your job as per the standards of the company. I was getting checked once as a Cabin Senior and the Line Manager was stressing my crew. when the crew are stressed out, they make mistakes, I had to refuse the check and tell him to BACK off because he was creating a very hostile environment for my crew. One week later, the same Line Manager was my Business Class guest, I treated him the same as any other guest, with respect and hospitality. He wrote me a letter of recognition and a direct e-mail to my PM the next morning. I tell my crew, you should stand for yourself and have a positive attitude, do your job perfectly and know the rules, nobody can touch you especially if you're in the right. I know not everyone is lucky to have supportive managers, but I have seen change through EY happen thanks to crew speaking up.
I used to work as a cabin crew for Cathay Pacific for 9 years. I can confirm that the culture there was so toxic, probably not less than what you mentioned. I’m so glad that I made a decision to leave. Life has become much better since lol. 😌🧡
I used to work for emirates but not as a crew, an airport service agent, and let me tell, it is as toxic !! As you said , Emirates supports these kinds of actions, but I learned to fight back, and jut before I resign, I taught them all a lesson so they won’t forget me, starting from the lowest grade to the highest management , felt so good lol
This is reflected on passengers. I stopped flying on Emirates years ago because most of the cabin crew had beenunfriendly and unwelcoming. Now I can see why.
You are a whistle-blower man. You also seem like a very genuine person who cares for people. You did the right thing exposing the toxic culture and now people will be careful
Interesting how many of these relate to mean supervisors. A young friend of mine worked hard to become a flight attendant for an Indonesian domestic airline. This was a huge achievement for a village girl. Her first supervisor nearly broke her spirit with what amounted to bullying. She made it through but was a horrible start to her career.
Is it possible to do a good just in such a kind of environment? I read studies that stated that too much of supervision and (fear of) punishment can actually have a bad impact on employees performances... I am very surprise that Emirates can keep a good face while working environment is so poor.
I’m from Hong Kong, and my dad experienced the thief on Emirates prior. A few years ago, he flew with Emirates to the UK, and he fell asleep. According to him, he would never be able to sleep that well on a flight, but he thinks someone did something so that he slept like a baby. The thief ended up stealing a bunch of rather expensive items, but he didn’t discover it till everyone disembarked so they couldn’t actually find the thief. Nevertheless, we don’t think it’s people from Hong Kong - since most are relatively well educated and crime rates are generally low in the city. We believe it was some Mainland Chinese people who were going to Europe (EK used to have some good deals for HK to EU), and you could normally hear lots of Mandarin onboard. After that incident my dad got a new suitcase with a proper, metal lock and also stopped flying EK (opted for direct with CX more) that often, since it was becoming a pattern after some time.
I'm from a different profession. But we have the same difficulties! Head nurses can be really difficult. Especially when someone like me just started working in this profession. I'm so glad that nurse Blake highlights those problems. Without UA-cam & Insta I would feel so down & sad. Thank you for talking openly about those problems. It helps people. ☺
I stopped flying Emirates, as Dubai Airport, was too big, too impersonal, very shallow and horribly commercial, for my taste. Knowing the company culture now, well, I don't want to be greeted with fake smiles! Feel sorry for those who work there! Feel sorry for Dubai!
Thanks for that great video😊 For me it seems soo crazy and kinda dangerous for the flight safety! Aren’t supervisors supposed to manage and to keep the crew together in order to secure safe flight operations(?). I work for a European Airline and we have an open feedback/ mistake policy- if a mistake happens they encourage you to tell them by yourself, so that everyone may learn from it and that this mistake doesn’t happen again, it makes flying so much safer in my opinion!! Kinda shocked how emirates deals it!
As a soon to be cabin crew, also for a European airline, I'm very glad to hear that not all airlines have these back stabbing policies and toxic environments!
This video is just beyond amazing.. The amount of effort and hard work you have put in this vlog is just next level. Sir i must tell you that you are at wrong place. You should be in Hollywood 😅 your acting skills are at pro level. Now to the serious part. Most of the supervisors have pass through the phase of being cabin crew and experiencing all the things in their journey. Then why are they behaving in such a way.. this is like satisfying their ego. Moreover we have to listen to the things which we have never done. I mean why to listen all this, can't we complaint or raise our voice against it ? Don't they have guilty feelings..?
I’m working for emirates and yes you are right . I fly many times with coco seniors hhh . And yeah one time I got reported for using my phone in the airport and also that my hair was messy . I mean she told me to fix my hair and I did accept the feedback and fix it immediately so why she wants to report that to my manager I donnow
We all have a fair share of crazy psychopath bipolar supervisors... but on my last flight I had a supervisor that Is pro - crew.. she protects us from Karen type passengers.. especially during this covid period. Now more than ever we need supportive supervisor
I started flying in the late 80's I have heard at least 9 out of your top “10 horror stories”.I'm shock to hear the same stories in 2020, I guess something never change. To top it up I wonder if you guys have 'spies' whom blend in amongst crew, especially during rest period chatting and collect stories for the manager .One more classic is to avoid senior single supervisors. 😂 However I enjoy my job I not only get to “see the world “it also gives a change to meet a lot of 'The good, the bad , and the ugly' of many different characters. Have good flight !!👩🏻⚖️
oh my goddd i had a LHR flight last week, in the briefing room the csv kept emphasising how easy going he was, then on the flight he was the complete opposite. we didnt even give him a reason to be like that, we all got along really well, we were all working equally as hard etc but this mans mood literally kept switching with the click of the fingers it was so strange. then at the end of the flight all the cleaners were on and all other crew had disembarked and he had us in the galley for 10 mins shouting at us for wearing gloves at the end of the flight for the post landing duties while the customers were disembarking, like broo its never that deep and we had our hands behind our backs its not like it was completely on show. anyways the pursor called on the interphone, i answered and she asked whats going on i said the csv is debriefing us and she said to tell him we need to leave and to continue on the bus, i relayed what the pursor said to the csv and he said i dont care we leave when i say you can leave…💀💀💀💀
Cabin crew for a US airline here 👋. I'm so sorry about the cabin supervisor who bullied you. When something like that happens are there any resources for cabin crew to report supervisors?
As an ex flight attendant I am so happy I never had the chance to fly in Emirates, I flew in the most important Airline in Southamerica, AND although the job was tough, I never experienced any of this bully behavior. I can not imagine living those Situations..AND for what?? Everybody knows a tcp career ends up as soon as you get ptomoted y To supervisor , AND if you get there it Is because you were very lucky, or maybe because you do not have a mind of your own. Due to a lack of a career development, there Is NO WAY you can be promoted to another area inside THE COMPANY....it Is better to study AND if you love aviation as much as I do , my advise Is to go to College!!! ..I am master in aviation management AND flew for 10 years, plus 2 More years of experience in Airport management which Is my present job. . I make much more than a flight attendant AND I never had to stand any of this nonsense.... .I am a professional AND No professional should have to put out with this behavior from anyone.
Had a cabin manager that was happy and then next minute she was super mad screaming and then next minute super happy again. It was scary to pick up the phone or if she was coming to the back galley because you never knew what you were getting. 🙈
I highly doubt anyone will boycott flights esp because EK has such an extensive route network! (And though the carrier is based in the Middle East, it employees many westerners, so it’s unfair to say “these middle eastern carriers...” in order to indicate that the behaviors of employees is a problem because it’s a Middle East based carrier; this is not a Middle East problem, this is Tim Clark problem and lack of quality training problem for supervisors and frontline employees alike pertaining to acceptable professional behavior)
90% of cabin crews and employees of Emirates and Qatar are not middle eastern. middles eastern families will not send their girls to work in that toxic environment and serve alcohol aka poison to a drunkard...Toxic and foreign environment....yuck
Gosh happy I work for a European airline. I think your tips will be very helpful for all the newcomers and might help to avoid a lot of stress for the people. I hope EK starts to take these issues seriously but I doubt it. Thanks :)
Glad it was helpful! I hope Emirates raises their bar in their selection process for supervisors. They can't possibly have such unprofessional people guiding their onboard team. Glad you're in a better place Roberto! Per quale linea aerea lavori?
I work as a crew manager and usually i disregard the childish reports such as eating, using mobile, and all that BS its just a waste of my time and the cabin crew time especially when they have to report to the office on their day off.
I agree with this whole heartedly ! I was once throwing up continuously on a flight about 2hrs before landing into DXB and my SFS sent an email to my manager to say I must not have rested enough for the trip…. How about I just caught yet another sickness bug from working as many hours as I possibly could?! The use of the tray was so funny I was in the era of the silver tarnished tray which was super heavy.
Another great video. Orlando, you do an awesome job. Loved the part of the video where you explained being forced to stand at attention with a big smile . . . In an empty cabin. I had a great laugh. Love your charisma. You have a good spirit and a special kindness about you. Can’t wait for your next video! You are absolutely fantastic!
I'm glad I did not make it through the interview process. Now, I am also working in an office with crazy people, but there is no reporting. We handle s..t immediately among ourselves.
Right?! There are far worst things to worry about, don't understand why this backstabbing culture doesn't come to an end. Emirates needs to work on it, it'll never happen on its own
I work in tech but I’ve always been interested in aviation. I heard about the culture of Emirates and was intrigued. I cannot imagine working at a company that has a culture like this. I can’t imagine being written up for small mistakes that weren’t harmful and fearing my job would be taken away. I also think the culture on weight is concerning given some cabin crew have reported pay cuts when they gained weight. What happens if someone got sick and weight gain was a symptom? I live in the US so our work culture and expectations are different so maybe I don’t understand, but this is just me.
If I ever saw fear like that either as a passenger or ground crew I think I’d have to try to help them. Perhaps by reporting the supervisor, maybe by being a witness with a good review for them. Whatever I could do.
Lucky you Mirco :D But remember that supervisors like these are rare exceptions. Sort of a rare species of animal:) How is it in Lufthansa? Must be nice ^^
I flew Emirates once, Milan-Adelaide. Never again. Think the cabin crew had been trained in Nazi concentration camps. Never met so many nasty, rude , disobliging crew on one flight! Petty too. They refused to serve wine with the meal and offered it only after the meal was eaten. Dinner was the last meal served and no breakfast was offered. Some people think Emirates are wonderful, I suggest they try the REALLY wonderful airlines. I will stick with Singapore and civilised behaviour!
Thank you very much orlando for this video. I am joining Emirates cabin crew team on 10th January 2025. It is really helpful to set up my mind before I set out to go there. Fortunately I was working in worse condition before so stories shared here are not freaking me out. Please keep sharing those information that will be hugely important for new joiners to prepare mindset for the new role
Always admired cabin crews and dreamt about becoming one following the footsteps of my aunt who was a cabin crew in three different airlines back in the 90s (Emirates, Qatar, Etihad). A few weeks ago she just told me "Not as amazing as it sounds, bunch of bullies, sweetheart." And I had no idea what it meant, thought she only referred to the chances of getting shit colleagues. But wow ok idk if I wanna pursue the job anymore 🚶🏻♀️
I’m at a regional in America, my ex boyfriend is a pilot a different regional than me and he told me a senior ratted him out for chewing gum on a deadhead. I had a senior write me up bc I forgot to make my announcements and I had just finished OE recently
It happened once the company did fast track promotion around year 2011 onwards. Some supervisors only did 6 months as GR1 & they were fast tracked to Supervisor because they know how to talk during the assessment. But I’ve met some amazing fast tracked supervisors, usually they had previous experience in their previous airlines.
Had my duty free money stolen on-board once, only the money, inside job 🤣
Oy 😲 I'd be so pissed
Say what?? I didn't know they did that to you!! What basta***! A cabin supervisor stole my headphones bose qc25!! What junk people we get sometimes

@@metalhead7539 emirates is suffering his bad time
As I have been watching, learning and researching about being a Cabin Crew, I have learned that Cabin Crew are getting paid more than enough. But.
Was that in Emirates?
You should just leave.
I feel you 😭😭
Sara not your boo You should kill them.
Sounds like you have PTSD. You might want to look into treatment
I imagine that most of this happens away from customers eye. As in the examples of unfair reporting through emails and reports.
Yes indeed. I like this.
Those 62 dislikes are from the mean supervisors😂😂

No one really knows how tired it is to work in this kind of toxic environment.
We know! ☺️
WishCasting yeah. true. Only those who in the industry knows.
That's why I'm always respectful to flight attendants.
Yup….
That does sound like a Psycho!
Reading this makes me so mad hahahahah imagine on a layover omg!!!!
Sounds horrible. But can't you just say No to practicing during layover??! As a Flight Attendant newbie i might even do it, but maybe it's better to learn to say No right from the beginning
She sounds like a right fruitcake job😮
As a pilot myself, during a flight from Toronto to Dubai, I actually noticed this and felt the hostility and unfriendlyness among flight attendants.

It shows in the service on BA which is why i dont fly them :)
BA flight attendants rock! Many great memories IST-LHR-PHX for the 4 years I was a passenger flying the route about 4 times per year.
I worked for BA too and have a final interview with Emirates tomorrow, but also realising how much easier I had it at BA despite the crap pay! Now I'm worried about working for Emirates. Although I had a few instances with terrible supervisors at BA!

Hi I'm curious, did you meet any flight attendants with scars on their faces? Or asymmetrical faces? I'm worried about this
So interesting to know that the issues are the same at ALL airlines.

And you should admit that LH ist everything but easy going as well. Greetings fromm a 26 year purser LTU/Air Berlin

LOL

They hire them! I’ve seen positions! (This was a while ago, but I recall seeing a position if I’m not mistaken)
It's not your country and will never be
You should send Emirates an email about it!

Thats why Emotional intelligence is important nowadays.
YES! Highly emotionally intelligent people should be in charge.

Wow. Someone should put a stop to this behavior. From what I’m hearing here this is a toxic work environment. This could probably put in danger a flight ✈️
Absolutely agreed! But Emirates actually doesn't punish the ones who report or treat others like crap. There needs to be a radical change from within.

Depends if they have a horrible supervisor on board or not. Usually flights are very chilled :)

At Etihad I found the hardest part of the job was dealing with the other crew onboard. There are some nice crew but the majority are really not nice people.
Would you like to elaborate your experiences? We'd be glad to have your side of the story! Hi Mark!
Now I get it why that Etihad FA came running like a crazy from the back of the airplane screaming to me to not film her while I was still at the airplane's entrance door. She was literaly crazy 😂

Absolutely! I 100% agree!

Every job has their pros and cons
Wow which company is this?
It’s insane how so many employers these days get away with this kind of stuff.

Not every supervisor is like this! Let's remember the amazing people in the company that make the flight a wonderful one! But of course you get these exceptions onboard! Just like any job out there :) stay positive, crew life is amazing. Don't let anyone take your dream away
yeshonestly in 4yrs i had only a few crap supervisers. loved the company
I work here and it's not like the army.
@@WishCasting can cabin crew become supervisor????
Same
What was the lesson you taught them?
What did you do?
we need to know more!!!
Spill the tea☕
I’m so glad I didn’t get the job at Emirates, wouldn’t of been able to deal with the toxic environment
how bout the pilots?
This is reflected on passengers. I stopped flying on Emirates years ago because most of the cabin crew had beenunfriendly and unwelcoming. Now I can see why.
You are a whistle-blower man. You also seem like a very genuine person who cares for people. You did the right thing exposing the toxic culture and now people will be careful
Oh my god , good to know about Emirates airline . I will never think 💭 of flying with them.
Orlando is such a lifesaver! Thanks for sharing your knowledge 💜
Always sharing with you all! Love helping! Sharing is caring!
I flew with Emirates so many times.. Its sad.. didn't know Emirates treat their staff so inhumane.. what a shame ... I will not fly Emirates again !!!
Well, just think twice about what you said, sometimes it could be your only option.
After that incident my dad got a new suitcase with a proper, metal lock and also stopped flying EK (opted for direct with CX more) that often, since it was becoming a pattern after some time.
passengers should report supervisors and get them fired.
If only they knew what was going on
So glad I never made it past the 2nd round when they were recruiting, I think I avoided a complete nightmare.
Not every supervisor is bad remember :)
😂
I'm from a different profession. But we have the same difficulties! Head nurses can be really difficult. Especially when someone like me just started working in this profession. I'm so glad that nurse Blake highlights those problems. Without UA-cam & Insta I would feel so down & sad. Thank you for talking openly about those problems. It helps people. ☺
Who's nurse Blake?
I will never ever put my foot in a Qatar or Emirates flight, or any other airline doing like this to the crew.
Upper management need get their butts kicked intensely.
This needs more views!! The toxic environment coupled with racism and sexism is horrible!!
OMG 😆 the “easygoing ones are the worst ones” period.
I stopped flying Emirates, as Dubai Airport, was too big, too impersonal, very shallow and horribly commercial, for my taste. Knowing the company culture now, well, I don't want to be greeted with fake smiles! Feel sorry for those who work there! Feel sorry for Dubai!
Yup! This totally reminded me of my first job... Except it was in a hospital.
Your video presentation just reminds my time in QR.everything what you said is accurate spot on.
Everybody knows a tcp career ends up as soon as you get ptomoted y
To supervisor , AND if you get there it Is because you were very lucky, or maybe because you do not have a mind of your own.
Seems like one of the CSVs on this video!
I just newly been promoted to cs position. Hell I know what not to do!! I'll try be a good leader🤩
Go Sue! Be a great leader other people can rely on :) You'll do great!
Firm,but fair 😊
I heard that Qatar crews cop the same thing. If these middle eastern carriers are not careful people will start boycotting their flights
True! And Qatar is even worst. Trust me! They report you if you smoke on a layover! That's common knowledge by the way.
It is so sad that you have to go through this. Good service is important but this feels like a culture of punishments
Qatar Airways is even worse hill..dictating leadership
Yes we've heard worst stories from qr
Hell yeah! I've seen a lot worse.
I agreed with you as ex-qr staff
Qatar is the absolute worst. They are so bad they block people from talking about them on a forum for professional pilots (pprune).
That's the human, adult way! ☺️
And your home in your own bed at night.
Priceless
This is a bad environment God forbid if there's an emergency
Right?! There are far worst things to worry about, don't understand why this backstabbing culture doesn't come to an end. Emirates needs to work on it, it'll never happen on its own
In an emergency, I guess the supervisor will be the first casualty ..make it look like an accident folks :-)
Glad I stopped flying with Emirates ages ago. It was obvious that many cabin crew would look petrified of some senior cabin crew. Eyes never lie.
If I ever saw fear like that either as a passenger or ground crew I think I’d have to try to help them. Perhaps by reporting the supervisor, maybe by being a witness with a good review for them. Whatever I could do.
Wow! we had it made in the 80s-90s, especially at our SJU Base, our jobs were fun, this sounds like a nightmare!
Oh my god it sounds so awful. We at Lufthansa love to life the crew life. We are all in this together.
Lucky you Mirco :D But remember that supervisors like these are rare exceptions. Sort of a rare species of animal:)
How is it in Lufthansa? Must be nice ^^
Id love to work for Lufthansa
They were the kindest. I remember flying on id90 flight on LH. Very kind and chill crew
Yea, You know,That is the thing,I noticed about you'll working as a Team.Very Professional..
Thank you for the video, and I am very sorry that things like that happened to you.
I appreciate that. Luckily it was mainly good times!
I have to say I’ve only watched two videos about working for Emirates but it seems that working for the company is horrendous!
I've worked for two companies like this. It was a nightmare I wouldn't repeat.
Wow!!! Thanks for the information, about locks , just a passenger 😀
Thanks for all you do Cabain Crew😍
Yes I remember, it took 2 years for a friend of mine to become a Purser back in 2010-11
