I remember arguing with my friends as a kid about Voltron II and whether it was really a thing, We knew the lion Voltron and vehicle Voltron, and everyone swore there was a third one, but no one knew what it was. Thanks for clearing that up!
GaoGaiGar is probably my favorite combing robot. Also, when I was in my single digits I got a Blue Gladiator Voltron toy for Christmas one year. It made me cry. :(
Voltron Lion Force is my favorite. Before Albegas got scrapped as Voltron 2, Daltanious was going to take the character as the second Voltron which also didn't get to see the light of day.
The banter was fantastic this week "They do a lot of Voltron sketches." "We named /two/." And there's been quite a shift for RC towards '90s and early 2000s stuff for the nostalgia bank now so there's been quite a bit less Voltron...
It would have been cool to note that the original Lion Voltron as we know it happened by accident due to mis-communication. Daltanius was originally intended to be Voltron III, but when the request for the "lion" cartoon was made, GoLion was shipped instead.
One time I was watching the first series, and my 6 year-old nephew was there. He loved it, but as soon as he saw Allura he cried out, "A GIRL? A girl cant fight!" I immedately told him, "Girls make great fighters, sometimes better than boys!"
So, in the series Voltron was also once a singular robot also. This was not something that the series harped. But, it was brought up a lot in the first two episodes. The only thing the comics brought into the Voltron mythos, is a sorcerer who saves the lions and sends them to Arus. Otherwise, the origin of Voltron doesn't change.
I like the 2011 Voltron... Voltron having different powers when having a different head was a cool idea though not that original since a lot of Japanese mech anime does that... But still it was a fresh take to the series which further deviates it from the original Go Lion series...
I have fond memories of watching Voltron, much like I did with other shows like Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon, and Inuyasha. You know I’ve heard somebody made a petition for the release of an uncut English dub of Beast King GoLion and that got me thinking, should there be an uncut dub of GoLion? What do you guys think?
Like many of the others, I'm going to list a Super Sentai/Power Rangers robot as my favorite. I really liked the Dragonzord Battle Mode. It had the combining elements of the Megazord and the Green Ranger cool factor. Plus, it had a drill spear. I see no downsides.
Michael I really dig the shirt! I grew up with 2000's Voltron but remember the classic Voltron on my trips to Mexico. Also don't they spoof Voltron in th latest Ninja Turtle series? The cartoon that the Turtles watch from time to time.
WMAIstudents While we used to cover the occasional fan effort in the past, we try to stick to official versions of properties where possible now. That said, the Omundson fan-film was pretty solid, if only for the exceptional on-a-budget production design (dat Red Lion tho!).
I've seen the original Golion anime and I can honestly say after seeing the show completely uncut I will never watch the Voltron series again. Although I have watched some of Voltron Force and it's not bad.
*cough* daily Robeasts, it aired daily in syndication in 1984. Of course you two seem pretty young, so you probably didn't get it new in the mid-80's like I did.
My favorite combining robot has to be Engine-O G12 other wise known as cluster fuck supreme. ;) Would you agree Michael that Voltron clearly seems inspired by Super Sentai?
nightwing245 At the very least, the designer responsible for the Voltron Force's uniform color choices in the original GoLion anime was clearly a Sentai fan. This wouldn't be the first time that an anime series borrowed from a toku franchise, or vice versa (ex: the anime Gatchaman, inspired by Sentai series, inspired later Sentai series Jetman).
Actually Voltron wasn't too far away to help...They were held captive by that black magnetic planet! Practically in the middle of "dead space". They did not put these Eps in the box set. It was a 5 part episode but I guess it was too violent for the children of this day and age to tell the difference between fake and real. So it will trigger a nightmare affect. Plus it did stear towards realism as the series progressed. Especially the Prince on Pollox losing his brother as a robeast. They even changed the story saying he ran away! I watched it on TV and they kill him. That's why he attacks Aris!
I think they scrapped the third voltron .1He's drawn like soundwave! Plus I think they would have copied Orbots 2 years earlier and came out before the US Voltron lions fall 83'. Plus the Grid layout from Tranformers Unicron makeover scene for the damaged trans the 86 movie!
The nick show was pretty damn good and shouldve ended the way it did they shouldve picked up on the vehicle one then put lion and vehicle in the same universe
Voltron Force is pretty good. It's a nice continuation, and actually gets all the pilots in the right color outfits. And makes fun of Keith's mullet.
I remember arguing with my friends as a kid about Voltron II and whether it was really a thing, We knew the lion Voltron and vehicle Voltron, and everyone swore there was a third one, but no one knew what it was. Thanks for clearing that up!
Voltron was my first anime! The beginning of my obsession!
This show is getting more humorous . I like it
Lion Voltron was my very first anime and what made it even better was that it was like a power rangers anime
Voltron wasn't a weekly show in the mid-80's, it was daily, afternoon markets- like after school.
The banter was fantastic this week "They do a lot of Voltron sketches." "We named /two/." And there's been quite a shift for RC towards '90s and early 2000s stuff for the nostalgia bank now so there's been quite a bit less Voltron...
Thanks! We've been aiming for a much more natural show lately. Glad it's coming through!
Daizyujin is totally my favorite combining robot.
It would have been cool to note that the original Lion Voltron as we know it happened by accident due to mis-communication. Daltanius was originally intended to be Voltron III, but when the request for the "lion" cartoon was made, GoLion was shipped instead.

Optimus Prime. Specifically from the Transformers Cybertron tv series. That Savage Claw Mode just does it for me.
SageGnosis Well noted, thanks!
golion, dairugger xv, voltes v one of the greatest combine robots in opinion
I like the 2011 Voltron... Voltron having different powers when having a different head was a cool idea though not that original since a lot of Japanese mech anime does that... But still it was a fresh take to the series which further deviates it from the original Go Lion series...
Imagine Primus and Unicron combining.. Although unlikely it would be badass.
I have fond memories of watching Voltron, much like I did with other shows like Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon, and Inuyasha. Megas XLR did the Best parody... absolutely defiles the lions.
Favourite transforming robot? Megazord. Megazord. Megazord.
And they shouldve done that Gladiator voltron shit sounds tight
my favorite voltron is netflix lion voltron for the design and it's my favorite series
Hmm my favorite combining robot eh? -snaps fingers- GaoGaiGar -first opening
Like many of the others, I'm going to list a Super Sentai/Power Rangers robot as my favorite. I really liked the Dragonzord Battle Mode. It had the combining elements of the Megazord and the Green Ranger cool factor. Plus, it had a drill spear. I see no downsides.
Albegas FTW.

Have you guys seen the Fan-film "VOLTRON: The End"? It's worth checking out
theSpartan187 We have and we agree!
vehicle Voltron was the greatest Voltron
Combine robot? Megazord. I'm surprised you didn't mention that brief fanfilm with Tim Omundson.
WMAIstudents While we used to cover the occasional fan effort in the past, we try to stick to official versions of properties where possible now. That said, the Omundson fan-film was pretty solid, if only for the exceptional on-a-budget production design (dat Red Lion tho!).
Understandable.
2:12- That would interfere with the mechanism!
Tenga toppa gurren lagann and yuusha oh tanjou gaogaigar are my favorite robots
You took my answer and I am not mad just happy that someone else thought of Gurren Lagann and GaoGaiGar
I know rite i hope geek crash course does a video of those animes and jojo's bizzare adventure
I've seen the original Golion anime and I can honestly say after seeing the show completely uncut I will never watch the Voltron series again. Although I have watched some of Voltron Force and it's not bad.
I gotta go with the Megazord from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. It's a classic and a staple in my childhood.
What are you're thoughts on a live action Voltron film?
Have you guys done a video for Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman?
Not yet.
*cough* daily Robeasts, it aired daily in syndication in 1984. Of course you two seem pretty young, so you probably didn't get it new in the mid-80's like I did.

You guys about the late 90's Hip Hop Sprite Commercial that had different Hip Hop Artist as the Voltron Force.
you forgot to add the Robotech Voltron comic series that came out...I think this year
My favorite combining robot/mecha is the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Megazord!
there's a new season on Netflix for voltron, will that fallow the timeline as well?
Actually Voltron wasn't too far away to help...They were held captive by that black magnetic planet! Practically in the middle of "dead space". They did not put these Eps in the box set.

The robots in Super Sentai.
The nick show was pretty damn good and shouldve ended the way it did they shouldve picked up on the vehicle one then put lion and vehicle in the same universe
Devistator. Orinal not bay though idid like the design.
GETTER MOTHERFUCKING ROBO
In the Black variant
No mention of the original Japanese version? Disappointed
the megazord all the way.
He's cute!
Geek Crash Course please check out "Voltez-5" similar to "Voltron"
rickjamez13itch We'll give it a look!
Geek Crash Course it's Voltes 5... sorry
voltes v is more similar to machine v than on go lion aka voltron
doesnt robot culture ever get old?
David Gong Presumably, the machines would break down, rather than aging in a traditional sense.
