Ok, first of all there're not three books, they're all one book split into three parts. Second there're 16 lesser rings, the other three were more powerful rings, all were crafted by the Elf master craftsman Celebrimbor after Sauron showed him how to make them. He took this formula and made the more powerful rings on his own, and no he did not craft the One Ring, that was all Sauron. Third people who wear the rings don't control the other rings, only Sauron can do that, and they may go invisible but hey shine like a beacon in the unseen world. So the Nazgul (Ring Wraiths) who're also invisible can see you and know where you are pretty easily. Fourth Sauron doesn't look through the eye he is the eye, Fifth He's not at the top of a mountain, he watches atop the Dark Tower, Barad-dûr, which is close to Mount Doom where the ring was forged but he's not atop that. Sixth you missed Dwarves when talking about races, and the Great Eagles. Seventh Wizards are Istari and they are sub spirits of the Miara, lesser Angels and servants to the Valar, Greater Angel Spirits. Eighth Reuel is pronounced "Rule" not "ree uwel". Ninth Gollum or Sméagol wasn't just an ordinary Hobbit he was of the River Folk, a stoorish Hobbit. Tenth the Two Towers are Isengard and Barad-dûr.
My recommendation, if you couldn't really get into the books- find a Tolkien fan and watch the movies with them. You get the visuals, and your friend can provide running commentary for the stuff that didn't manage to fit in those long, long movies.
What is this "final episode" stuff?!?! I have enjoyed these programs and found this one particularly entertaining. I love The Lord of the Rings and found Diana's snarky comments and mistakes hilarious. Best of luck in the future in whatever you two do.

I'm exactly the same as Diana, I've tried on numerous occasions but I just can't get into Lord of the Rings. I thought it was fantasy in general that didn't appeal to me, but I like Game of Thrones too. Dunno why.

You screwed it up about as much as Peter Jackson screwed up The Hobbit. Here's the homework I recommend, read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and then The Silmarillion (in that exact order). I saw the Lord of the Rings movies first, but I prefer the books.
Aragorn and Arwen's love is not taboo. first of all, they are the fourth Man/elf couple. second, Aragorn has permission from Elrond to marry her when he becomes king.
Mount doom isn't the name of the mountain, its a metaphor that the fellowship is going to their death. it is actually called Orodruin. Great job stealing a joke from a Reddit meme, BTW.

it felt too much like she was being satirical and actually likes lord of the rings. her "mess ups" were too over the top to be real.

Yeah, I'd say you were dwarves are like giant Hagrid-sized level of screw-up on the Lord of the Rings--but it was fun to watch anyway.
