I'm dealing with a 1 year old class 1 to 2 ac separation. I picked this tape up at Sports Authority 4 days ago and applied it as demonstrated in the video. I am absolutely amazed. I was reluctant to spend the money at 12 bucks a roll but it looks like you can get 4 applications from a roll and mine just now needs replacing after 4 days. The muscles in my neck have relaxed for the first tine in a year. I strongly stand behind this product. Thanks KT Tape!
This helped a lot I think. so far anyway. I had some trouble with my AC joint about a year ago I think and went to the chiropractor, but he never really told me where the pain was coming from or what was wrong. He just worked on me for over a month trying to adjust me. This time, I thought I'd try to help myself before I go to a doctor. Thanks.
It depends on where the pain is. If it is a general shoulder pain use the general shoulder application, if it hurts on the ac joint try this one. You can post on FB and tell us where it hurts exactly and we may be able to get you a customized application.
@@RW_1 Wow you replied to a 12 year old thread kudos to you! On a side not i have a Type 3 AC injury 3 week post injury just found out about taping it down to heal in a better position not sure if it's too late for me though
The tape helps hold the ac joint stable. If the joint is unstable, it can cause the shoulder to partially dislocate which can cause a lot of pain. The tape helps hold the joint stable allowing it to heal properly. if it heals out of place, it may cause chronic pain. So tape it! lol
@@DvlDg74 Instability could be the cause for soreness in that region. I have an AC type 2 separation that causes dysfunction of the clavical, scapula and pain in the sternum.
KT Tape Is this one specifically for shoulder sprains? I notice you have another app for the AC joint which is more recent, but doesn't specify sprains. Is one more effective than the other?
Marcus, It sounds like you might need a custom application. Visit our website and go to the "ask an expert" forum and one of our pros will send you customized instructions.
@LumosInc if your shoulders roll forward from being the the computer, what kind of taping would be used to treat that? like so the shoulders are pulled back....?
Hello KT Tape. My Dr. Recommended I try this tape for my shoulder pain. She suspects rotatercuff. I'm scheduled for an, MRI. In the meanwhile, tape support should help. I watched the videos, but my question is, can I use the same color tape for my particular application. The videos are using a variety of colors for each application. Thank you, Mary
Hi how's it going. Good video. I'm interested in what you know about taping the AC joint in the event of a grade 3/4 separation. Some people seem to swear by taping the clavicle down in the recovery stage in hope of the scar tissue binding the joint together to make it stronger and regain some of it's symmetry. The problem I have is that while I have about an inch of separation my clavicle does not feel "loose". Pushing it down has little/no effect so I'm questioning the value of taping for me? Do you have any advice?
I'll check on that to see if our team has any advice. In the mean time, here's an updated version of our AC Joint video: ua-cam.com/video/u7k0NJL_mfo/v-deo.html
Joel - regarding your specific treatment question, you can certainly try to use tape, although treating an inch of separation is a situation where we would advise seeing a sports physical therapist. There are many well versed in taping techniques. You can also experiment on your own. The tape is designed to provide an extra layer of support and pain relief. Most users find success when they apply tape where they are experiencing pain or where their muscles or joints need extra support. I hope that helps!
Thank for the info guys. It turns out my separation is a grade 4/5 with a "non-reducible" collarbone, so the tape won't do anything for me, surgery will be the best option. If your clavicle can be pushed back down into position while lifting up on the elbow (reducible) i'd tape it if the injury's fresh, the results seem very 50/50, but worth a shot I guess. Happy healin'

Just came from a Rugby Injury not to long ago, this actually helped a lot .. Thanks ! cheers from toronto
Just did this for one of my athletes with an AC strain and he loves it. Thanks for the video!
It's called KT tape and you can get it at your local sporting goods retailer or online at Kt Tape.com. You'll love it for AC issue's.
The amount of stretch does play a role in how the tape works. You can put it on with no stretch and still get some benefits though.

Did it Heal after taping it
is this just to help pain or to stabilize the joint?
How many days on u suggest?

Does he know how much that tape cost??? It will be gone in no time....

4 pieces of tape is certainly unnecessary. All you really need is a lateral strip to pull the joint closer together so it can heal.
I don't have the pre-cut tape , how long should I cut it then ???
You should be ok if you're applying 1 hour before. Send an email to support@kttape . com and they will help you out.
