    Learn how you can do self-taping to give your shoulder so that can give it some support and reduce the pain. In many cases, shoulder pain is located in the front of the shoulder and the Deltoid region. Common reasons for shoulder pain can include rotator cuff injuries, sprains, strains, frozen shoulders, tendonitis, impingements, and much more.
    In this video, we show you how to tape yourself even if you do not have prior knowledge and/or a partner to help. Let's face it, we don't always have someone to help so why not learn how to help shoulder pain on your own?
    When it comes to using any type of kinesiology taping of the shoulder there are many brands out there. The three most common are Kineiotape, Rocktape, and KT Tape. In my opinion, I would use Rocktape (my first choice) and then Kinesiotape. I find that the glue and tape are much more durable and will provide more pain relief and support to your shoulder. Yes, it may be a little more expensive, but it will work much better!
    Watch this entire video all the way through so that you can learn how to treat and tape your own shoulder.

      Thank you! That means a lot!! (And I needed to hear this …obvious to me… because I don’t usually read all the comments… so fate! And that you wrote it) I’m working on getting back to my strength and my physicality after many medical issues, so I am working out and back to the gym on my own as a 65 year [Young] woman! The challenges of the muscles that are injured take some time… But this video was very helpful because my shoulder needs some TLC while I work out… I don’t have anyone here to help me tape it! This I can do after watching! So thank you for taking the time to record it! Much love to all❤

    Well done you! Just about every video other than this one has a therapist applying the tape, and I don't have a handy box of therapists to open.
    Thanks so much for this considerate post 👍

    Wow. Thanks so much. I needed to see this. I had a friend who was meant to help tape my shoulder. I've done it myself. Best tips. This was brilliant. I'm on my own with children so I never have anyone to help with these kinds of tasks. I feel so empowered. ❤️❤️❤️

    Thanks Doc! I started training bjj in June 2023. Years of sleeping on my left side and lifting weights have caught up with me. I got shoulder impingement on my left side. I cut my training down to one day a week until I get past this issue. In meantime, I visit my chiropractor twice a week. And, I do the rehab stretches and exercises throughout the day. I'm starting to feel improvement. I will use your tape technique to apply before I train my 1.5 hour bjj class on Saturday. Thank you! Stay encouraged!

    Thank you. That was so very helpful. I am 77 yrs old and I have to tape myself. My shoulder is so painful that I can't sleep. Watching the other videos with someone doing the taping for a person was confusing and I was thinking that there was no way I could tape my own shoulder. I felt dismayed, but you made it so easy I really think I can do it myself. What a relief! Thank you so very much.

    I had a similar taping from a therapist using Kinesio tape. I decided to try it myself with leukotape, which doesn’t stretch like Kinesio. It did a much better job of unloading my shoulder. What is your opinion on that?

    It will take practice, and thank you for showing us how to do it by ourselves on our rotator or arms. Very helpful!. can you do the tapes for knees. squatting is difficult and I Need to pull myself up with the refrigerator handle sometimes. I would like to know how to apply it also to make my legs and knees stronger. Thank You.

    you mention measuring to your body size/type, but weren't specific to what that is, can you explain. I am taking a educated assumption my looking where your tape pieces end/line up.

    • @DrJoshJagoda
      @DrJoshJagoda  3 роки тому +1

      Pretty much you want to see how large a piece of tape you want to cut. You want to have a tape that can do down from the bottom of the deltoid insertion to the bottom of the AC joint or about that point. Keep in mind you will stretch the tape about 15% so that should help .

  • @paigefarrin22
    @paigefarrin22 2 роки тому

    How do you know how big to cut the pieces?

    • @DrJoshJagoda
      @DrJoshJagoda  2 роки тому +1

      You can hold the tape up to your arm prior to cutting it. That should give you a good estimate of how long you want the tape.

    My pain is on the back of the shoulder, low down. I split the tape, as you mentioned, starting at the front center of the shoulder, then extending the tape low on both sides of the shoulder blade in back. My RA has progressed and I am having trouble doing it this way myself anymore. Would your method give me any relief with the location of my pain? Thanks for any help you can give me. This always worked great for relief in the past, but I just can’t get it right anymore
