It was low because it was below the waist, not the beltline, because you can pull your shorts\belt up to your armpits and everything would be considered low at that point. Usyk keeps his shorts\belt pretty low, the top of his belt is around the belly button.
100% correct, lots of waffle from people who don't like facts trying to generate controversy and anyway the ref called it low applied the 5 minute recovery rule, fight continued and Usyk carried on beating up the big autistic kid until he decided he had enough and quit.
You must be trolling watch the fight again. Unless Usyk doesn't have a navel. they were pulled up to his ribs.. The bigger issue is how he acted. Nowhere near his balls. The reason the ref gave it is because it was in the Poland Ukraine Border, fill of Ukrainians, plus protecting the big fight with Fury

I absolutely respect and admire Teddy Atlas. The knowledge and insight in boxing runs deep. The low blow "debate" is pretty much a yes or no answer. Way too much fluff. I agree - low blow, end of story. Was he hurt in the body or in the groin, aim't worth talking about. It's meaningless. I see no point to it at all. ... But, I like Teddy.
#1 - the shot WAS technically a "low blow" - below the belt - but was NOT a groin shot and should NOT have been called as such - it should have been waved off - it was on the belt in the lower body but NOT the groin due to "high trunks" and the Referee should have defined that at the START of the fight BEFORE the opening bell during the "touch'em up" speech - they always do - they give final instructions and hold their hand on the fighter and state " anywhere above here is legal " if they deem the fighter to wear HIGH trunks which Usyk had #2 - Usyk did NOT make the call and he did NOT embellish the degree of pain - he was HURT from a hard BODY SHOT - so would YOU have been - that shot chops down trees #3 - Usyk WOULD have beat the 10-count even if in pain #4 - it would have had an effect on the fight as Dubois would go back there IMMEDIATELY amplifying the effect - #4 - would the fight have been stopped by KO ? - difficult to say but likely NOT - Usyk weathers it enough to get out of the round #5 - who wins? - Usyk late

Nobody can know where the pain was coming from, but i don't believe Usyk would have stayed down if the ref began his count. If that is what the Dubois camp is counting on, then they would have been disappointed even more than they act like they are now. Usyk dominated the fight other than the low blow. Of course they want another payday, but if they thought Dubois had much of a chance they are very mistaken. It was almost a mismatch even though Dubois is a much bigger heavyweight. I don't want to see another boxing lesson. I want Usyk to embarrass Fury if Fury suddenly grows a pair and agrees to a fight with Usyk.
FURY doesn't want to fight USYK that's the reason that he's over priced himself and when USYK agreed to get only 30 percent FURY bitched up !He's trying to get a record of 50 wins by beating the same washed up fighters over and over and over!
It really just doesn't matter Usky was the better fighter, not even close, as per usual in boxing. I'm not even sure why the fight happened. 2nd for the cry babies out there if your looking at a lucky punch for your guy to win, then that is saying he never had a chance to win, which also means you didn't really think he could win. This particular fight could have happened 10 and in this case, Usky would of won all 10. Talent still matters.
“That hip line signifies where we wear our belt. That is our low blow point. So what a low blow is, any time the majority of the glove is below that hit line. On the hip line is legal, it doesn't stop being illegal until a majority of a glove is above it” - Direct quote from the referee of that fight. We know why people are saying Dubois got robbed, and it has nothing to do with boxing.
When did you see Usyks' navel? His shorts were above his navel the whole fight. The punch was on the belt line. Stop it, Usyk went down as if he got hit in the balls. There is no way in hell that DDD hit him in the balls. Usyk milked it and everybody saw his weakness
In Muay Thai it can happen where we take a push kick (teep) above the groin. This can actually hurt your bladder and make you feel like you’re going to pee yourself if it’s bad enough. If I was boxing and got hit there and dropped and it was an illegal blow I’d for sure play on it if my world title was on the line 😂
The whole of Dubois glove was BELOW the top of Usyk's shorts (which weren't pulled up too high). The Ref had clear sight of the blow and correctly ruled it low straight away..Usyk told the ref he was ok to continue after a couple of minutes but the ref gave him more time....no controversy here at all...
Was it late? Early? After the bell? Low? Behind the head? A Rabbit punch? Did he kick him? Knee him? Elbow him? palm him ala Tyson Fury? Thumb his eye? All part of the game. I think the pointy and second knuckle were on the groin, Teddy. Yes legit by the rulebook low blow.
Please look at the start of klitchko v fury and you will see ref point out where is good shot, and he doesn't point to top of wasteband he points to the middle of the protective belt about 5 inches below top of wasteband and says this is good, exactly where uysk was hit, watch video before you come back please, usyk should of been counted out
If you are hurt in a part of the body that, according to the rules, you should not protect because it is not legal to be hit there, the opponent should not have an advantage after such a hit.
Very true about the customized protection cups. DLH was a good example. So was Lennox and Rahman. They pretty much had their foul protectors up by their armpits in certain fights.
What I don't get is people are saying it's not a low blow, which means he didn't get hit in the junk at all. Therefore implying Usyk, a world champion boxer who has trained and conditioned to take body shots his whole life, wouldve been put down and stopped in the 5th round from a punch to the lower abdomen. C'mon.
And your telling me all those years of constant punishment don't take there toll? The human body is a fickle thing and all boxers will be targeting Usyk's body even Aj did plus Usyk always complaining about aledged low blows. Watch mugabi v Hagler mugabi got hit lower multiple times never once complained till the ref deducted a point off Marvin, yeah Dubois was never going to win the one chance he might have had was denied boxing is not know as the most corrupt sport for nothing.

Ref jack Reiss: "Simon says put your hands on your hips. You feel the top of two bony structures. Take two fingers until they meet. That line is your hip line. Everyone’s belly button is different, you can’t use the belly button. “That hip line signifies where we wear our belt. That is our low blow point. So what a low blow is, any time the majority of the glove is below that hit line. On the hip line is legal, it doesn’t stop being illegal until a majority of a glove is above it. That’s why when the fight begins, we identify the hip line. That’s basically it. “The hip line never moves, the belly button changes, the waistband changes. You should visualise as a ref where that hip line is.”
there was 1 moment during the first few rounds when dubois was looking dangerous landing shots and the ref jumped in and seperated them completely diffusing the situation also the fact that its the same ref as the aj fight is abit suspicous
Don't know what you were watching pal but, the ref didn't do anything in the first few rounds, didn't have to because Dubois couldn't even get near him. Even Steve Bunce, Dubois' biggest cheerleader and Warren puppet said Dubois hadn't even been in the fight during the first 3 rounds. Clearly you're still a little salty about Joshua being spanked aswell.
From the BBBoC/Queensbury rules section 3.31 regarding low blows - ‘the “belt” is an imaginary line drawn across the body from the top of the hip bones’.
Everyone thinks usyk is weak to the body so we will see quite a few of these moments going forward. AJ hurt usyk in r9 (I think) with a big body shot, usyk went green. Dubois was going low and was aiming for the bit of the stomach that sticks out just above the waist. High shorts mean you can’t do that It was low
Uysk was never getting up from that legit shot he was shaking like a leaf and even if had of got up dubois would of finished him he up no state to carry on its boxing not ballet as uysk said at the end of fight
What is more probable? Usyk is counted and then gets up and beats the crap out of Duboisie? or Dubois winning by stoppage after Usyk getting up? I think is crystal clear.
It has happened to me in sparring. The Kidney Protector and Cup can get driven into your Nuts if you get hit just below the belt, but not directly in the Groin!
Think what happened dubois shot was coming from below uppercut upwards and power of impact going upwards push protector upwards crushed usyk balls explains why he hit floor so quickly plus shaking arm on floor was low blow . Looks at legal body shots afterwards didn't hurt usyk at all plus usyk wasn't trying to protect his body went gung hour on dubois.
The position of the shorts or the belly button has nothing to do with whether its a low blow or not. Its the hip line which defines what is or is not a low blow and would have been pointed out by the ref to both boxers,. The only person that can judge it a low blow is the ref as he defined it pre fight in the changing room. Not my words, words of a world class ref.
To me Usyks Trunks were high and watching the replay it looked like a clean shot. Usyk was hurt, he saw an opportunity when the referee called it low and took advantage of it. If the ref started counting he probably would have got up or at least tried. Dubois could have targeted the body more once he Saw how effective it was but instead he folded. The right man won.
I also knew it was raining bad but the rain was actually hitting the fighter and the floor was wet as well! That’s crazy a fight so big and the ring isn’t completely covered up from something like that!
In soccer, it is being used sensor chips that show if the ball crosses the goal line. Place sensors under the belt and avoid misunderstandings. Evolution.
No the belt line has nothing to do with it, most of the glove must be below the hip line as the belt line could be high or even low, usyk is known to wear or high and that’s exactly why DDD’s trainer pointed it out to the ref before the fight
What he said about Povetkin v Huck was exactly what the ref was like in the Hatton v Mayweather fight.Cuntez kept pulling Hatton off to hinder his body attacks on Mayweather
Bolshavits, blow was legal & Usyk was very hurt. Usyk’s trunks were pulled up above his navel. Had the ref given Usyk a count, he would have got to his feet & possibly gone on to beat Dubois, but Dubois didn’t get a fair shake!
Usyk took multiple legal body shots after the low punch and they had little effect. If this was a body shot then surely he wouldve folded to the legal ones. Noone could get that hurt to the body and then not respond when hit there again. It looked like a bladder punch to me, but as you rightly say noone knows what Usyk felt. Calling Usyk a cheat and all that bollocks is just garbage. Nothing he did was outside the rules. Beterbiev did drop Usyk and he got up and beat him.
People are creating controversy where there isn't...many things can be true at the same time and here's what I saw...1. Usek got hit with a low blow...9 times out of 10 that punch is called low and we move on just like Crawford vs Khan...if it wasn't initially called a low blow that would be fine too because it was close enough...its one of those punches if you get away with it the ref comes over and signals and says "keep em up"....2. Usek definitely played futbol/football/soccer with it and overdramatized it but he can do that because it was a foul 3. Usek can't take body punches we seen it against Joshua and that punch if it was 5 inches higher could have ended the fight...4. The ref was definitely protecting the home fighter so anything close would have been called a low blow and he made the home fighter take more time then he wanted...all things can be true but a foul is a foul so let's just move on...Dubois had his chance but now the jury is definitely out on Usek, just like most Russian/Ukrainian boxers, he can't take body punches

He can beat all English Fighters but he won't beat Fury
. Mark my words. Bookmark this. Too big, too many tricks, and would have beaten Dubois in under 5.
Usyk wouldn't beat Wilder or Klitschko.
@@-The-DarksideBookies will love the clown world fools if the Fury fight is made.
Usyk will be hurt bad at Monster Weight against Fury or Wilder 🥊
@@-The-Darkside Fury has 3 weak title defenses. Why did Fury even fight Chisora 3 times in all one sided fights?!? Why was there even a damn trilogy?!? Why is Fury even fighting Francis in an exhibition match instead of Usyk next?!? Why has Fury asked for a billion to fight Joshua and Usyk?!? Have can you proudly say these things about Usyk when Fury literally has 3 weak title defenses in 15 years as a pro heavyweight!!!!!!!!!!!
@@victorduru4822 People are extremely stupid. The last week has made me realize that people have no clue about boxing rules and the sport itself. Beneath the trunks, it's a protection guard, which affects the groin even when the trunks are slightly touched. And this was a low blow. Neither the commission and the referee made Usyk adjust his trunks in the locker room or in inside the ring if they had believed that they were too high above what's really allowed, so if Usyk had for example placed the trunks above the liver and the kidney, it would have counted as a low blow even if he had been dropped by a vicious body shot.
Yes, Dubois hit below the belt. Thanks Teddy.
I’ve been hit in the exact spot on the cup and it still hurt my groin
Me too but if I was the referee I would have called it legal.
@@anthonymcken6050how was legal if it was low😂 then everyone would hit that spot intentionally but they don't unless they are dirty like Andre ward and they get away with it
Teddy: You cant have it both ways
Then goes on to explain that its both ways
😂😂😂
That’s why I can’t listen to this shi. I try I honestly do that’s why I’m here. But this is ridiculous.
exactly...he doesnt make any sense sometimes. he's too emotional.
Teddy is a fount of knowledge, but he does over explain and ramble on!
For some reason he can’t bring himself to say it was a low blow and just end the discussion there. Started rambling on about different types of cups and whether the blow landed in the middle or to the side of the groin. Is Teddy some sort of low blow connoisseur?? I don’t get it, he doesn’t usually give the Brit fighter the benefit of the doubt.
Can we all just agree that Adelaide Bird is the worst judge in boxing/mma.?
How I see it, in the end Dubois got knocked out/ down by a friggin jab, by a guy who has come up from cruiserseight…. So imagine if Dubois won against usyk.. he would now be facing the likes of Fury, wilder, Joshua etc. If the guy goes down from a jab , god knows what happens if wilder connects on him. Bottom line , Dubois should be thankful he never won
Just to be clear I think Usyk was TKO'd. But you're right, Dubois can't walk through the fire, he quit against Joyce as well. No heart no chin.
Klitschko stopped numerous opponents with jabs. Fury has too.
Jab is a legitimate punch when the guy is 15 stone plus which Usyk now is, and 6ft 4.
Dubois would kill you mate. I'm old enough to remember a cruiserweight beating the breaks of Mike Tyson.
@@-The-Darkside triggered much lol, dubois looked awful his fight before usyk too and was wobbled horribly by a jab and looked concussed, dubois has the least punch resistant chin ive ever seen in boxing
STOP SAYNG WHAT HAPPENED AFTER , WE TALKING ABOUT THE SHOT ON THE BELT , RIGHT ON THE BELT , HE PLAYED ALL CAUSE THE REF DIDN'T START COUNTING .
Teddy, you can have it both ways. It's a call made in the heat of the moment. You know that, dude. It's the ref's call, that's what he's there for.
Especially after you've had a chance to see the slow mo action replays. My initial observations are proven wrong by replays routinely lol.
This shows the power of suggestion. No one would have thought this was a controversy if it wasnt suggested as one.
Its so hard for people to assess things themselves. Theyre too used to listening to those they respect.
Nothing in the world would have kept Usyk down from that low blow if the ref had started a count. He certainly smartly took advantage of all the time he was given, but its really hard to think that the fight would have a different outcome if it wasn't considered a low blow.
He couldn't get up lmao.
He gestured to his corner he wa done.
He's just keeping the belts warm anyway. Once Fury makes 50m from the Ngannou fight, he'll take them too. (February in Jedda)
I really hope that Fury actually makes this fight happen. There is no other heavyweight fight worth even watching at this point.@@-The-Darkside
Stop it he was down for almost 7 minutes - this isn’t the first time he had faked low blows
Stop watching so much Disney . You’re believing in too many fairytales.Usyk was done.Yes he was the better boxer and the better fighter but that shot was legal and Usyk wasn’t getting up from it and surviving the round
I bet this man can make small talk into long talk😂😂😂
Are you real dillian?
When is your B sample coming back Dillian?
Imagine him and paulie malinaggi talking...... A yes or no question would go on longer then winter in the artic ffs
Lost the Will to live after he said Low Blow for 50th time
I saw Usyk say he was okay to fight at least twice at about the 3 and a half minute mark or possibly even before that. That shows good faith. There is no somebody drug this timeout out.
Soon as he said he was fine to fight on its not the stupid refs decision to say no you're not take more time that ref was terrible bad bad bad referee imo
@@Thetachewell the 6ft 9 autistic kid is going to wreck him
@@-The-Darkside Google the pictures. The top of the belt is about where his belly button is. The groin area covers the pubic hair. Half the glove was in that area.
I'm from London and wanted DDD to win and will be backing Fury, but I'm not going to lie just to back my guy.
I was going to say that Usyk wears his shorts pretty low compared to a lot of boxers.Fury wears his as high as he can get away with. 😂
It's not as blatantly low as A Ward vs Kovalev 2.
Yes, yes, yes!!!
It was slightly low if you watch the slo-mo and the angle. The ref still could have stopped the fight though.
This is BS. That will never be a low blow. This goes to show that people will defend anything to protect their preferred fighter. I'm not saying Dubois would have won, but let's call it to what it is. That was a legitimate blow.
Spot on.
I absolutely respect and admire Teddy Atlas. The knowledge and insight in boxing runs deep. The low blow "debate" is pretty much a yes or no answer. Way too much fluff. Does not matter if he was hurt or not, just like when a fighter goes down and stays down for 8 even though he may be able to get up after 3.
- Usyk late
Anyone with nuts knows it doesn’t take a direct nut shot to feel it in the nuts. Ref called it low so it’s low, in the moment could have gone either way.
No way quitter Dubois was going to win. Usyk would have stood up if he was taking a count. And the pain on his face said nuts and not winded. Ymmv.
It was clearly low. Ref also stated at the beginning he'll consider anything at the belt
'low"
Yes let's forget about all the times he claimed low when he was punched high in the ribs.
He hates body shots, anyone with eyes can see it. AJ hurt him with a body shot, Usyk had to take the next round off. Then came back and in round 11.
He ain't stopping Fury that's for sure.
@@-The-Darkside Fury scared to death, he's ducking. Fury is too lazy, and always claimed Cunningham was his hardest fight. Usyk is a better version of that. He'd rather sniff dope, and box MMA fighter. If u cant see it take off the blinders. It's no secret that the body is Usyk weakness. No fighter is perfect. Frank warren is putting out all his pawns to protect his king. However, all the kings horses and all the kings men...
*Below the belt* is the term. That was *NOT* below the belt! That was *ON* the belt. Make of it what you will. I personally think it wasn't a low blow. Jermell dropped some dude with a similar punch.
Agree 100%. It was ON the belt ,NOT below the belt.
Low blow is the term bro
I respect the opinion of Mr. Atlas, so I’ve been waiting on this video 👍🏼
Teddy you’re World 🌎 class 🗽 I can’t stop listening to you for life
I was eager to hear your point, my view was the low blow, whether or not it did hurt Husik did not have a real impact on the match outcome
“Roll out a cot ….” 😅😂😂
If you want to see low blows go back and watch Ward vs Kov
I dont care where the belt was it looked a body shot to me and i have seen countless fights were them punches are seen as fine.
Exactly
When did you see Usyks' navel? His shorts were above his navel the whole fight. The punch was on the belt line. Stop it, Usyk went down as if he got hit in the balls. There is no way in hell that DDD hit him in the balls. Usyk milked it and everybody saw his weakness
In Muay Thai it can happen where we take a push kick (teep) above the groin. This can actually hurt your bladder and make you feel like you’re going to pee yourself if it’s bad enough.
If I was boxing and got hit there and dropped and it was an illegal blow I’d for sure play on it if my world title was on the line 😂
and Poop evens.
The pain likely was from both the groin and the body. It was no way it was full groin.
Thanks for the clarity Teddy.
Spot on. At last someone talking some boxing sense without an agenda
Ref called it low therefore he is entitled to 5 mins
To say that the shot was blatantly low shows explicit bias!!!
It was on the belt line .
It's low. The rules say it, the ref says it and the footage shows it. A heavyweight with Dubois's power hitting you on the cup is going to hurt
Not a low blow . Cmon guys
Teddy botching Leonardo's name is gold. Never change Teddy.
Yea it was..and don't forget about Giovanni Davis😂😂
My opinion is the same as Teddy on this one
I think I missed two birthdays waiting for T to get to the point. Is he on hourly pay!

Lob Blow end of story.
Would love to know what these two think of Wards win against Kovalev when ward was hitting lower than Dubois.
Doesn't matter what they think. Ward won.
there was 1 moment during the first few rounds when dubois was looking dangerous landing shots and the ref jumped in and seperated them completely diffusing the situation also the fact that its the same ref as the aj fight is abit suspicous
Amazing analysis, always learning from you guys, you are the best
From the BBBoC/Queensbury rules section 3.31 regarding low blows - ‘the “belt” is an imaginary line drawn across the body from the top of the hip bones’.
Wasn't really that low but an effective punch that ref saved him and Usyk being the smart guy that he is took advantage of the situation 🥊
Navel and below is a low blow. Dubios clearly hit him below the navel AND did so repeatedly.
Everyone thinks usyk is weak to the body so we will see quite a few of these moments going forward. AJ hurt usyk in r9 (I think) with a big body shot, usyk went green.
Dubois was going low and was aiming for the bit of the stomach that sticks out just above the waist. High shorts mean you can’t do that
It was low
Wasn't low, but at least we'll see Fury dismantle another world champion .
Uysk was never getting up from that legit shot he was shaking like a leaf and even if had of got up dubois would of finished him he up no state to carry on its boxing not ballet as uysk said at the end of fight
His belt line was bye his nipples that was a legal blow
Sorry but the shot was on the belt and that belt was higher than usual.
His body didn’t react as regular punch to the body. There was no delay or winding.
Teddy has spoken! Done!
Teddy moans about how long usyk had to recover then goes on to say it was a low blow! So usyk was given 5 minutes by the ref.
The problem was that the ref didn’t indicate before the fight where a low blow would or wouldn’t be when they have such big belt lines.
What did the doctor say it was not below.
I am glad the truth came out by these two gentlemen as I felt the same as yes it was a low blow. Under the belly button there are no muscles
What did the ref say would be considered low before the fight? Usually they say what will be considered low.
IVE HEARD FIGHTERS SAY THAT THE BELT AND CUP CAN MOVE WHEN HIT ANYWHERE ON CUP
He was wasted as the ref was signaling low blow.
That shot put him down for over a minute.
He would be awfully lucky to get up before the 10 count.
You have bad eyesight 😢
@@mrillis9259Exactly how I see it.
Another excellent analysis.
Daniel also had 4 minutes break and he still didn’t have gas to put it on usyk. So he wouldn’t have capitalised if he got up immediately
I also knew it was raining bad but the rain was actually hitting the fighter and the floor was wet as well! That’s crazy a fight so big and the ring isn’t completely covered up from something like that!
I like how Teddy calls out the bs in boxing, but bless him, sometimes he does go round the houses to make a point.
It was an uppercut punch so connected way low initially and still low on full connection
Whatever makes yall feel better at night It should be against the rules not to show your belly button wearing shorts
Bolshavits, blow was legal & Usyk was very hurt. Usyk’s trunks were pulled up above his navel. Had the ref given Usyk a count, he would have got to his feet & possibly gone on to beat Dubois, but Dubois didn’t get a fair shake!
Usyk milked it smart
Ken explains his opinion in around 20 seconds. Teddy proceeds to take the better part of 10 minutes to not be as clear as Ken. Never change, Teddy.
And another thing those Cups are not made perfect. The deflect the punch upwards with a uppcut.
low blow clearly he went low with the blow intentionally trying to hit him with a body shot and missed hitting a low blow
