Thank you Ken for keeping Teddy on the subject. This man will talk about boxing in one stance and then talk about the importance of balloons in the same instance.
Francis trained as an Amateur boxer at the age of 26..his first love was for boxing, and he always said that to be boxer was his first goal, but when he started training in MMA ,he never looked back.,,So ppl Francis knows the fundamentals early on.,he is not a Novice like so many ppl thinks he is..Tyson didn't stand a chance, caz he knows how to fight, plus he is athletic and skilled.
Teddy Atlas gave Fury Rounds 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10. He scored Round 3 10-8 for Ngannou, and the only other round he gave him was Round 8. It was Round 7 that Atlas struggled to score, finally deciding on a 10-10 draw. Atlas’ overall tally favored Fury for being the busier fighter.
I love teddy but there’s no way francis didn’t win rounds 3,4, 7 and 8. They’re 100% francis rounds. There’s a few rounds in there where fury landed a couple of more jabs but francis landed more power shots. They could have gone to francis. Best you can score the right for fury is 95-94. Easily could have gone the other way. Boxing has always been based on damage.
Legendary boxing trainer Teddy Atlas doesn’t see any controversy in Tyson Fury’s win over Francis Ngannou. Ngannou took WBC champion Fury to a split decision in their crossover boxing match this past Saturday in Saudi Arabia, an outcome he disagrees with. The former UFC heavyweight champion knocked down Fury in Round 3 and stood toe to toe with him for all 10 rounds. Atlas gave Fury Rounds 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10. He scored Round 3 10-8 for Ngannou, and the only other round he gave him was Round 8. It was Round 7 that Atlas struggled to score, finally deciding on a 10-10 draw. Atlas’ overall tally favored Fury for being the busier fighter. “My final score: 97-93 for Mr. Fury,” Atlas said on his show, “THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas.” “And like I said in my comments, lots of posturing, feinting, half jabs, lot of looking, could have been more even rounds possibly, but I know it’s an honest one, because I’m saying what I believe.” Fury insisted that he did not underestimate Ngannou, but many observers believed he looked off. Atlas views the fight as an upset because Ngannou pulled off the unexpected, but he thinks Fury didn’t take him entirely seriously. “Physically he did; he was in good shape,” Atlas said. “Good enough shape. But mentally he didn’t. He didn’t. I’m going to put my bottom dollar, and he won’t make an excuse. I give him credit for that. And I’m not making an excuse. Ngannou deserves every bit of credit, but there’s no doubt in my mind that Tyson Fury was compromised in a way that, as a human being, that he too thought it was going to be a fun thing, a money grab. “It was going to be where he does what he wants. He wants to end it; he ends it. He wants to play, he wants to do an Ali shuffle, whatever he wants to do, he could do it. There was going to be nothing to worry about. … You can’t say it’s going to be an easy day because you’re going to get screwed."
Hi Teddy, I live in the UK and have listened to many boxing pundits over many years, I’m 67. You are the best by a country mile, I respect your knowledge, your impartiality and professional opinion. I have learnt so much by listening to you, I thought Francis had won on the night and was robbed but having listened to your analysis and watching the fight back I have completely changed my view. Tyson was clever, there were lots of scoring punches with nothing coming back from Francis. Keep up the great work Champ 🥊

Fury was visibly scared. The nervous energy he released when the scores were announced shows that even he thought he had lost that along with the reaction from the entire fury camp. Fury wasn't defending his title. He was just scared, you see it in his eyes.
I really respect Atlas analysis, but he waffles so much around his answers. I agree with him on his two key points. Firstly, Ngannou had the biggest moments but he really didn't win enough rounds. Secondly, people's opinions are way too influenced by the context of the fight. If Francis was an established number one contender and that was a 50/50 'boxer vs puncher' fight with the bookies going into it, more people would be saying Francis didn't do enough. They may not respect fury's winning tactics (the same way they often don't respect Floyd's) but that's just the sport 🤷 if you're slick you win the rounds, if you go for the knock out you have to get it, and Francis didnt
@@zrakodeloco I'm pretty sure the Ref shouldn't start the count till upright fighter is in neutral corner. Doesn't always work like that, and yes, I thought the same, it seemed to take an age to even start the count.
I'm a diehard mma fan. Boxing used to be #1 for me. I was pulling for Francis big time. I had it 95-94 for Fury. This breakdown by Teddy is by far the best i've seen from anyone and i'm not at all surprised.
I WANTED Ngannou to win, i know he could win if he was more agressive and less defensive, but he lost. Maybe he need a better corner to push him 9 and 10 rounds, or 4 and 5 after the knock. But he lost, thats it.
@@1est1 People trick themselves because a certain fighter has the flashier moments. Ngannou clearly lost 1 and did absolutely nothing in 9 & 10. That's 3 rounds guaranteed right there. Ngannou's only decisive round was 3, maybe round 8. That's 5 close rounds that all COULD HAVE went to Fury. It was a close Fight. Ngannou had the bigger impact moments but Fury clearly won the match even though he looked like shit. To me.
I figured ngannou would gas in 3, get finished by 8, no way was I expecting ngannou to go 10 rounds with fury much less score a knockdown and take an entire scorecard off of fury
You can tell ngannou is inexperienced by how overly conservative he was with his gas in the final two rounds. Not a terrible mistake, just inexperience. Not enough to take a round off of fury but just enough to make sure fury can't just be on ez street
Wow man, this is the only measured analysis I've heard so far. Everyone is caught up in the hype that Ngannou won, contrary to all evidence of the actual fight. There is this animus out there for Tyson Fury and it's not hard to imagine why.
Francis didnt win, but neither did fury, it was clearly a draw. Compare the stats of wilder v fury 3 and the ngannou fight... fury was completely neutered.
Teddy Atlas is the man I would want in my corner if I was a pro. Guy knows boxing. True legend, Tough guy mentally. He knows boxing is 80 percent mental at that level.
I was one of the people who thought Francis would get badly beaten. I was wrong and you were right Teddy. I'd rather see Fury and Ushyk but if we're going to continue to see these type of fights I'd love to see Wilder vs. Fancis. That could be an absolute war.
Yes definitely want to see Francis and Wilder. I new this fight would suck and francis would do ok. The Connor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather should have woke people up.
@@ScottHendrix-yz3du The entire time I was watching the fight, that was the main thing on my mind. I'm soooooo sick of watching Fury run and lean on people for 8 rounds. I want to see a fight. Only way to beat Fury on the cards is to be 8' tall and run even harder than he does. I'm not convinced that it's a actually Fury that walks to the ring. I've never seen him move any direction but back and to the side in the ring.
@@tomwalker8944 I think a good faster fighter could get in and out and possibly out point him. There just isn't a lot of good explosive fast fighters now. I've never been so bored with boxing. Uysk may be able to out point him but I doubt he really hurts Fury to bad. Love or hate him that big Rock head can take a lot of damage.
Facts and the argument I seen in favor of Francis are these 2 mainly 1. “ Francis knocked him down so therefor he won” 2. “Francis did more dmg therefor he won”

Tyson punches were quick as they ever been, I think he was surprised Francis was eating them without much head movement or backing up that would break any one
Francis’ chin is a huge part, Fury couldn’t really keep him off him and lean on him either, Francis was winning at least 50% of the clinches which does not happen to Fury often
Fury look totally out of shape his love handles were hanging way over his trunks All Fury did throughtout the fight was used his boxing gloves to kiss off of his opponent The fight was as exciting as watching grass grow I was totally shocked when Fury fell to the ground like a 20 pound bag of potatoes
I think Tyson won 6-7 rounds but they were all quiet. Francis won the rounds where they were really in there banging. Ngannou is the REAL DEAL, I cannot wait to see him box again.
Yeah he had the more dominant rounds and that stands out but it doesn’t necessarily win the fight , fury pinched the quiet rounds and it doesn’t make the highlights reel but as they are scoring round by round , they add up
In any case, for a first fight in heavyweight boxing, Ngannous did better than all predictions, he threw Fury to the ground, he hit and marked him in the face, he lasted 10 rounds without any scratch, and Fury couldn't do to him what he had predicted, which was to say, bam bam bam it's over, none of that, what more could you ask for? Everything is said simply
I didn’t think he had a chance of going 10 rounds, never mind putting up a great fight. His size, his lack of boxing experience, his age etc. Remarkable really.
I prefer Tim Bradley's reasons as to why he felt ngannou won the fight. He gave 5 rounds to each fighter and the 10-8 in round 3 gives ngannou the victory.. he's debating with Chris algieri and pauli maginali. He explains to them he took the same course the judges had to take and he understands how from different angles you see different things but according to the boxing criteria he gives. He says you're supposed to score the rounds based off effective punches.. so if 1 fighter throws 20 jabs and the other fighter throws 1 uppercut and that uppercut backs up the other fighter that was jabbing. Then the guy who landed the uppercut wins the round off of an effective punch. He says if you can't decide then, then you should decide by who was the most aggressive fighter, who is moving forward and pushing the action. Teddy basically gives all those swing rounds to Fury by default and gives poor explanations and reasons.
There’s more than one criteria to score a boxing match. If there was only one, you could have one judge as it’d be entirely subjective. That’s why there’s 3 judges, to give an overview. One judge did score Ngannou as the winner, two didn’t. They decide, not random tv viewers or pundits.
@@goncaloamaral7846 the word criteria is typically plural. But I suppose you mean the criteria includes several factors. It's also well known judges get it wrong more than often. There's even away to appeal decisions which I imagine would be difficult to win. The fact that the majority of fans and boxers believe ngannou won. Though I think one thing most people will agree it was a close decision and fury did get beat up. Let's not forget the WBO did a rescore with 5 random judges.. these were the results: Judge 1: 114-113 | Pacquiao Judge 2: 114-114 | Draw Judge 3: 113-115 | Horn Judge 4: 113-114 | Horn Judge 5: 113-114 | Horn Another close fight but the majority of these judges believe horn won. Also in today's case.. Tim Bradley's opinion is an extremely popular opinion.. so most he's most likely right.. it's no one's fault other than boxing. The criteria is a little too subjective and should be updated to reflect who is actually winning the fight and score the fight based off that and not on winning the boxing match off of racking up points. I mean it is a fight that's being judged. I don't agree with it being judged as an art as it it were women's gymnastics. In other words I think if this was a street fight over some girl then most of us would be in ngannous shoes than Tyson Fury.
@@DanielWilliams-pv4gr possibly so, but hey I never said when he took the course before Pacman v horn. Could have taken it after the fight and especially after his retirement. Who knows.
Literally none of the boxing community was keeping it real. Even Tyson fury said it was the shot to the back of his head which was totally false 😂😂 straight temple shot to the side of the head CTE os a mf
Respect to Teddy's scoring and with his long history in the boxing world. This just shows the fundamental difference in how boxing and MMA fights are scored. He favors the fighter that appear busier, so punches/jabs with less power can add up with points that trump heavier punches that do more damage. Another very obvious difference is, in boxing, the fighter can get knocked down and given a 10 count plus a few more seconds (elapsed time as the referee assesses if the fighter can continue) and gets to continue as well as get some precious recovery time. However, in MMA, when the fighter gets knocked down, the opposing fighter gets to reign in a barrage of ground and pound strikes. In Francis' case, if this were an MMA fight, Tyson would have been finished with no doubt based on Francis' ability. Since this was a boxing match, Fury got to fight another round and recover and the rest was history.
@@tommyboy1986 Bro who tf cares about how fights are scored on the streets or mma. It’s like saying a rugby player is better than a baseball player based on how they score rugby. Makes 0 sense. If you don’t like boxing scoring then watch whatever the fuck else you watch. Now I’m pretty sure Ngannou is pretty content with his paycheck which he made more than his whole career plus he’s not hurt.
Fury won more rounds even though he looked bad. Of course a knockdown made ngannou look better, but take out round 3. Look at all the rest round by round. Tyson boxed better and got hit a couple times but ended up landing more. You don't win because you do better than people expect and getting a knockdown.
This may very well be true, but this isn't the core problem. Boxing, as technical as it can be, is still a sport of spectacle and drama. People were dismissing this fight merely as an easy cash grab by Fury and Ngannou but the latter proved them wrong. Heck, he even won his detractors. There's really no win-win situation when Fury took that fight. People were expecting him to dominate Ngannou like Floyd toyed with Mcgregor. That did not happen and instead, it feels like Fury was the one who was humbled, as shown by his post fight interviews and refusal to do a post fight conference. Fury and Usyk should have really fought earlier. Now, the mystique about the fight is gone. Usyk, although dominant over his win against Dubois, was also trending with controversy about the Low Blow in their match. Fury has it worse still because people are doubting his win far more. Interest between a Fury and Usyk match has weakened. But hey, Francis at least made this fight far more interesting than it had any right to be.
The scores could have easily been anything between 95-94 Ngannou to 97-93 Fury. Ngannou best case scenario won 5 rounds, while fury best case scenario won 8 with one round being a tie.
Atlas isn't wrong in saying that most people judged the fight with their heart. I'm not knowledgeable enough to score a boxing match properly so what do I know.
I think it was a combination of things on why Fury struggled in the fight. I think one was that he drank his own cool-aide a bit too much and he didn’t really prepare. Two, fury didn’t expect the power to be that devastating. But I think the main reason was that he couldn’t bully Ngannou. And use his usual tactics. Ngannou didn’t allow Fury to clinch, smother him and take him to the rope where he can lean on him and tire him out like he is accustomed to do in all his fights. I think that really threw him off his game. And lastly, I love the podcast. But I will say this, Teddy at times fanboys for certain fighters contrary to what he says. And Ken changes his opinion of fighters and fights a lot of the time based on what Teddy says.
To me the clinche & leaning is the main thing that helped fury beat wilder the 3rd fight vs 2nd fight he just won clearly but the 3rd fight the way wilder was using his jab it was making it harder for fury to get any real punches in at first & after wilder dropped him the 1st time the 3rd fight fury started clinching leaning that weight on wilder & wilder allowed him to do it instead of maneuvering away & it wore wilder down plus it a bigger weight difference with wilder & fury vs ngannou & fury & I'm pretty sure ngannou is way stronger than wilder & fury which was another reason fury clinching couldn't wear ngannou down I bet if it was rematch fury would be alot more serious ngannou may not be experienced in boxing but he definitely a fighter regardless....
Exactly what I've been saying all along. Ngayoo spent ten rounds fending off the jab most of the time. The judges were quite generous to score him so highly. The knockdown means little. Cooper knocked down Ali in his prime.
Oh please, fury only landed 12 punches more than francis, fury barely survived and his punches did nothing. Francis didnt win this fight, but neither did fury, it was a clear draw.
Cooper actually beat Ali, because Ali's team cheated by taking too much time in the corner and cutting up the glove and stuff so that Ali had more time to recover after the Henry hammer that knocked Ali down.
Judging criteria is based upon effective aggression, ring generalship, hard and clean punches, and defense at the end. Francis did more of this. Bringing up the stats later on to justify Fury winning doesn't matter when Fury reacted to everything Francis did, so Francis should have stolen those rounds as well in real time since the judges can't grasp the technical aspects of boxing in real, fast time.
Ngannou DID win in my book. Clearly. Anyone fiddling around to give Fury the win is just trying to justify it for boxings sake. Fury simply didn’t do near enough to get the nod.
@@TheGreatest1974 Facts. Also, Fury got close to 20 seconds to recover after getting knocked down by Francis in round 3, which has been the case with Fury a few times now. I know that Francis taunted him, but neither the timekeeper or the referee wanted him to lose this fight.
Everyone likes the underdog story ! I get it ! Francis wasn't busy enough to win the scrapy rounds, was close though and I can't wait to see Francis again for sure he deserves everything he gets !
Lennox Lewis 'I thought Tyson Fury WON' his fight against Francis Ngannou, despite being knocked to the canvas in the third round with the three-time heavyweight champion claiming 'this was like a warm-up fight'
He can't... He a boxing purist. He can't ever admit a guy with no boxing experience making his debut fight with the champ and beat him. Especially a guy from another contact sport
"People are judging based off of emotion" I guess the judge who scored it for Francis must have been judging based off of emotion. So many excuses from the boxing community. I can understand people scoring it either way, it was a close fight. But to say people only scored it for Ngannou based off of emotion is a stretch.
Its funny how people make Ngannou seem like some random dude, he is vacant UFC heavyweight champion who actually trained some boxing before and has strongest measured punch in the world..
Most people judged the fight by their heart. A lot of people gave Francis round 9-10 which is WILD to me. It was a 7-3/6-4 for Fury in my scorecards(couldn't decide round 7 so you can give it to whoever you want). I scored it by volume, acitvity, presure & punches landed for Fury.
It was a draw, francis cant win by decision while being outscored, even if it wasnt by much. Now, had that "second knockdown" been scored with the illegal elbow, then maybe francis eeks out a win.
Boxing experts never gave him a chance , but a hell of a lot of people did give Ngannou a slight chance and of course that was the MMA community ,and that's the difference , boxers scored it like you would a boxing match , where as MMA scoring has a lot to do with damage , therefore they are going to go with their guy.
@hazeshi6779 Diffirence is Tyson finished nearly every single one of his opponents. Not a single knock down where his opponent hot right back up and boxed his head off
I thought Fury lost when watching live, for exactly the same reasons Teddy mentioned. However I watch it back 3 days later with the sound turned off, man it's like watching a different fight. fury won that fight. Anyone watching that fight back and thinking that Francis won probably played back one of his UFC by mistake.
Correct - but my opinion did not change much , at first I had a draw with a slight edge to fury but after watching it again, the last score card 95-94 Fury was spot on But even watching it again
Always confident with what Teddy sees. Don't always agree, but if there's a more knowlwdgeable boxing head with the integrity Teddy has, I'd love to see 'em. Keep doing your thing brother. Thanks for all you do!
I thought Fury looked softer around the middle than any fight he’s had up to this point. I don’t think he pushed his training as hard as he usually does.
Well he said he was 330ib before training. So he probs tried to lose weight. Got 277ib. Now this is the interesting part. He also looked weight drained while being heavy, due to trying to drop his weight.
As a fan of both sports and fighters, it's easy to see why Francis was so calm. He's a champ and used to more than just punches coming his way. Francis got robbed. This deserves a rematch.
@@iikavanaghiirationalize 96-93 when fury only landed 12 punches over ngannou... explain how fury threw almost as many punches in the last 3 rounds of wilder v fury 3 as he did in all 10 rounds of the ngannou fight. Fury stealing a round with a few rabbit punches convinces nobody except greasy boxing judges with historic levels of incompetence. Francis didnt win, and fury didnt score enough to earn a victory, that fight was a clear draw. People who defend fury in this fight by just saying fury won more rounds is such a braindead take. Furys punches did no damage and he didnt land enough to offset the knockdown and the illegal elbow.
Teddy, fury lost wether you want to admit it or not.I think Mike tyson could beat fury if he is in his right mind.Tyson is faster than Francis even at the age of 57.He is shorter but he only needs one good shot even now!.
I think Fury trained properly (I don't think Papa Fury would allow anything else) but he didn't take Ngannou serious until maybe 30 seconds into the first round. After he realized this would be tough he took it 100% seriously.
I disagree about Fury training 'hard'... he may have been there but he certainly wasn't in shape physically or mentally. He did win a fairly lopsided decision, but no he was not in shape. He almost blew it and he did embarrass the whole sport of boxing. His titles should be stripped immediately imo. I hope nobody ever pays to watch this bum again.
Professional boxing should publish the judges scores IN REAL TIME on a scoreboard - just like tennis or any other sport which uses scoring. That way the fighters would know in real time if they're ahead or behind on points and they would change their fight game accordingly.
Over here in Australia the fellas at work are convinced the fight was staged ,Tyson played a part ,he carried Francis ,i say BS i say Francis was overlooked and Tyson was overwhelmed with the ability and composure Francis showed ,never ever seen Tyson start a fight the way he did with a big right hand that was pretty well off the mark ,here in Australia people who know boxing hold Teddy in high regard he has huge respect for calling out the Pacman /Horn fight most especially when he backed up hes words by telling Jeff straight to hes face ,most welcome here Teddy dont be a stranger, not that it really matters as im just a nobody BUT i had Tyson winning by two rounds ,im fairly sure in fact im convinced Tyson felt this was a loss to the point he might not come back at all ,i hope not ,the height off arrogance is to assume you know somebody you know what goes on in their mind ,half the time i have no idea what goes on in my skull so who are we to know what goes on in someone elses ,best podcast on youtube massive fan of you both
Too many emotional casuals out here who don't understand the art of boxing. Fury clearly out landed more punches despite Francis's aggressiveness with power punches, only 5 more than Fury. Teddy knows what he is taking about. Even if they would have deducted points from Fury for that elbow, he would have still won by outpointing Francis.
Fury won rounds 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10 clearly and therefore the fight. FN landed almost nothing in those rounds and Fury was landing consistent jabs and occasional rights. FN won 3 & 8 clearly and those were the most dominant (and dramatic) rounds. 4 & 7 were swing rounds. FN lost the decision by being too inactive in the slow rounds, and because Fury has the experience to know how much he has to do to stay ahead enough to take a round.
I gave him all the chances !! Shame on the people who downplayed him…. I knew he would win! This is his first fight against the title holder!! He had a lot of learning and feeling of this first boxing fight on his head.. Fury lost his face!!!! Francis has the power and the speed ! He will outbox many opponents in the future!!
Finally I find someone who knows what really happened in the ring. When we watched it live the people watching it with me kept telling me Fury lost and I told them otherwise and I was confident til the end.
That would be very generous. I don't think Ngannou won more than two including the 10-8 knockdown round. I am glad Ngannou got a big payday and i hope he fights either Wilder or Usyk next, but the main thing should be not to pay for another Furry the duck fight ever! He embarrassed boxing and should never be supported for it again.
No one has quite said it this way, but Ngannou has a special body type - he's like a larger version of Mike Tyson. Thick neck and thighs, heavily muscled, sturdy frame. Like The Thing in _Fantastic Four_ Very sturdy. Able to absorb Fury's punches. Fury was surprised by that, and by his strength. Ngannou was probably the first guy Fury had ever faught who could throw him around. Fury tried, but he couldn't use his size and weight the way he did with Wilder and others. Ngannou was way too strong and balanced, and experienced with grappling. He had Fury totally beat in that department. That said, Fury still outscored him. If they fight again, and Fury is in top form - which he definitely was not in for their first fight - Fury will probably outbox and outscore him decisively.
good point. fury's big enough to believe he can whip king kong and in certain moments of those 10 rounds he must have believed that's who he was in there with. i don't have a dog in the fight either. impressive boxing! fury looked vulnerable.
Let’s reverse the roles: 1) Fury dropped Ngannou 2) Fury bruised Ngannou, and not a mark on Fury 3) Fury was NEVER in trouble 4) Fury landed the most significant strikes 5) Fury won all clinch exchanges 6) Ngannou landed more non-significant punches 7) Ngannou landed an illegal elbow Is Teddy telling us that in that scenario, we should give the win to Ngannou? Come on now. We all know why the decision was given to Fury. And I mean given, not earned.
@@DanielWilliams-pv4grYeah, and Teddy is basically telling us that were we to reverse the roles, Ngannou would win. Which would never happen in a million years. Because if we reversed the roles, everyone would give Fury the win.
People don’t know the History of boxing -Louis dropped by ten ton Tony Galento, Jack Johnson dropped by middleweight Ketchel, Ali Losing to rookie Spinx and of course Tyson ko’d by Douglas!, Lewis KO by Rahman .
Teddy has a great way of explaining things, even little things like people think tyson is a huge puncher cause he dropped wilder or cause he took wilder big shots. While tyson is a puncher, he doesn't hit as hard as wilder, he doesn't have that tnt, he's just so big, punching power is inevitable. Just because he knocked down someone with more power in wilder doesn't mean he has wilder power, just because he took wilder s big shots and got up doesn't mean he's more powerful than wilder it just means he can take a shot. Just because wilder can dish out huge shots, doesn't mean he can take them, you don't take the power or attributes of the people you beat.
That is a good point. what makes fury so good is his speed/size and his heart. He packs a punch due to his size and speed but he could punch stronger however he shouldn’t be as fast as he is with his size and weight.
I love Francis. He was surprisingly competitive over performing expectations by a large margin. But you've gotta beat the man to be the man.He did not do that. The excitement of overperforming, the astonishing performance itself, do not make for a victory. The most surprising thing was that one judge had him winning. He was competitive with the Heavyweight champion of the world in his first ever professional boxong match. SHOCKING! But that any clear eyed, unbiased knowledgeable person would see Francis as having won is absurd.
I wonder how many of you did what Teddy did and sat in a quiet area and only focused on the boxing and scoring it...Without the drama, the announcers, the hype, etc... I wonder how many of you, with such strong opinions, give the focus needed to come off as arrogant and smug as you all do...
Yes Francis showed better than many thought he might and landed the best shot of the fight. But one good shot does not win 10 rounds. I thought Fury looked a bit flat only occasionally displaying the movement he is capable of. That Said Francis looked awkward in comparison. Fury 6-4.
I agree with the scoring. Ngannou had an advantage: he was unknown quantity. Now he has lost that advantage. Future fighters will know how to prepare for him, they have a video to plan from. And he showed his limitations which can be taken advantage of. He waits for opportunities instead of moving his hands. Throw a jab to keep him off and to prevent opportunities and if you can avoid a KO loss you will win 75% of rounds against Ngannou.
Teddy atlas is bias as hell, all of the close rounds , he gave them to fury. His boy got knocked down by a guy in his first professional fight. The boxing judges are corrupt as hell, they would never let Tyson fury lose
@@JohnW-cf2kwno one’s salty bud. Francis a ufc fighter came in and fucked up someone people regarded as one of the best currently and on his way to one of the all time greats. It’s just another nail in the coffin for boxing and the last one will be when he beats Joshua. We all know boxing is highly fuckin rigged so saying the judges were right is kind of a weak argument everyone who watched the fight is saying fury lost. Very few say he won
@@delvinjoseph3481 in reality there would be 2 points of difference, still Fury's victory! The fight started in points from the fourth round, if that were the case Fury would have 1 round less and 6 more, Francis with luck may have gotten the equivalent of 4 rounds (with the third and 2 rounds for him, with judges generally only saw 2 rounds of Francis with the third included)
Former boxer and self professed expert here. After watching it live I also felt the fight could have gone either way and would not have been too shocked by the decision. A fighter never wants to leave a close fight to the judges bc they are human and make mistakes and have emotion . It was a 10 round fight and a fighter needs to win a majority of the rounds to win (or win at least one round by 2 points and split the rest) or knock out their opponent. But after watching it again and scoring it unemotionally, I scored it 98-92 for Fury. I agree 100% with Teddy Atlas that Francis Ngannou shocked but Tyson Fury won the fight. Fury won too many of the close boring rounds by simply outboxing Ngannou. Also, as usual, Fury showed great class in the post fight interview. In a rematch I’d put my money on a Fury KO.
Is your scoring system just if there wasn't a knockdown fury wins the round or something? cos that is the only way I can see a 98-92 being justified, honestly after looking at punch stats and based on what I saw of the fight I'd put the score at 95-94 regardless of who won, cos that feels like the correct score unless you're scoring criteria is changing from round to round, I'd personally favour Ngannou winning cos I personally favour generally more efffective clean striking so if you are getting boosted on volume/accuracy with really ineffective weak shots I'm more likely to against them in close rounds
@@warriorseal33 I’m sorry. 97-92. Ngannou won 2 rounds. One by 2 points. Tyson won every other round although many were very close. Watch it like Teddy described. No volume. Completely unemotional.
98-92 to Fury??? Nah I disagree, that's way too many points for Fury. I think you are a biased Fury fan from England. The best case you can make for Fury is 95-94 for Fury. I personally think Fury might have won it 95-94...96-94 by that first judge looks like a ridiculous scorecard. I can see why many people had Francis winning. A case could be given for Francis winning 96-94 to Francis or 95-94 to Francis, but I think Fury just edged it but Fury was in trouble a lot and he was rattled.
@@Antiqueexcavator There was one round where Francis did a combo on Fury's head when Fury crouched. Then there was that other round where Fury fell to Francis' legs after what could have been another missed knockdown. Yeah, Fury did his typical punchy one-twos and he got them off a lot on Francis' head and chin...but Francis made it competitive by also hitting Fury's head a lot. I think Fury edged it but no way...I don't think it is 98-92 or 97-92. Francis won much more than 2 rounds in my opinion. It was neck and neck with Fury just edging it I think because of his one-twos. I think Fury won 95-94 but it was close. Teddy doesn't always get things right. 95-94 for Francis is also a reasonable scorecard, but I think Fury just edged the win.
Teddy is not and has never been a boxing judge and so his opinion is the opinion of a highly knowledgeable pundit, but ultimately it's just his opinion. Most pundits in Boxing believe Ngannou won and so did one of the three judges. This is the court of public opinion and we are all judges, so if we believe Ngannou won the fight then it means two judges got it wrong and it wouldn't be the first time.
I’ve been scratching my head on this all week…I wanted Ngannou to win as much as everybody….and I believe he should’ve won….but I just kept looking at the jabs from Fury during the fight and saying Ngannou still has to do something about those jabs as much as me saying that Fury’s jabbing has to have an impact at some point during the fight with him being the more experienced boxer, he is expected to put the finishing touch from his experience, but slacked off…..so I believe Ngannou won due to a level of experience…but I feel like boxers all over know that Ngannou won but see why Fury won because the Jabs weren’t slowing down….I also felt like 3rd round was way earlier in this fight, remember this world responds according to recency and has a recency bias…despite Ngannou going for the Superman punch….Fury was using a lot of jabs up until that point, with some elbow dipping sauce 😂….so numbers won and we can’t disagree with numbers….we are all believing in the moments as the winner…and that’s what we miss….thats what I’m so happy to see shining in this world again….the world comes together for moments once again….that’s what Boxing the BUSINESS has taken away from us…it’s no longer Boxing the FIGHT and the STORY…that’s why I believe moments should win fights like they used to…but we show numbers at the end of the fights now so…..yeah Ngannou won…but we can see why Fury won too.

Fury,” Atlas said on his show, “THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas.” “And like I said in my comments, lots of posturing, feinting, half jabs, lot of looking, could have been more even rounds possibly, but I know it’s an honest one, because I’m saying what I believe.”
Fury insisted that he did not underestimate Ngannou, but many observers believed he looked off.
Hi Teddy, I live in the UK and have listened to many boxing pundits over many years, I’m 67. You are the best by a country mile, I respect your knowledge, your impartiality and professional opinion. No, Holyfield is the real deal. We still don’t know about Francis.

Tim Bradley also thought Jeff Horn beat Pacquiao. Which was one of the absolute worst decisions ever.
Let's not forget the WBO did a rescore with 5 random judges.. these were the results:
Judge 1: 114-113 | Pacquiao
Judge 2: 114-114 | Draw
Judge 3: 113-115 | Horn
Judge 4: 113-114 | Horn
Judge 5: 113-114 | Horn
Another close fight but the majority of these judges believe horn won.

Fury survived the biggest punches in combat sports. Gypsy King has some of the best fights in boxing history. Congratulations to Fury.
Since this was a boxing match, Fury got to fight another round and recover and the rest was history.
that's not how fights are scored on the streets, whoever does more damage wins, that's how it works in nature.
@@tommyboy1986 and that's why I think MMA scoring is more representative of a real-world combat. :)

Bro who tf cares about how fights are scored on the streets or mma.
Francis ngannou needs to stay in boxing.🥊💯🙏
Fury elbowed Francis !!!
Yep

Totally agree.
Spot on. All the way around.
Disagree
Agree 100%
Not in that order, clean punches are the 1st criteria, defense is the last.

I can understand people scoring it either way, it was a close fight. But to say people only scored it for Ngannou based off of emotion is a stretch.
According to Teddy’s card it wasn’t close though.
Teddy did not score this fight correctly
Teddy Atlas must have scored Tyson Fury's hugs and added it to his point's score card.
Fury won, but it just look bad when the heavyweight champion of the world struggle to a decision against a guy who is making his debut. 🤷🏽♂️
Very true.
Its funny how people make Ngannou seem like some random dude, he is vacant UFC heavyweight champion who actually trained some boxing before and has strongest measured punch in the world..
Nothings better than Teddy's random outbursts.

Teddy lost credibility with this one. He was Tap dancing more than Sammy Davis, Junior.

As a fan of both sports and fighters, it's easy to see why Francis was so calm. He's a champ and used to more than just punches coming his way. Francis got robbed. This deserves a rematch.

And ruin the mega money for the Usyk fight? That makes no sense
I highly doubt that Fury would agree to tarnish his legacy much.
That is 100% correct

7 rounds for Fury to 3 for Ngannou. 96-93. If you’re being generous maybe give another round to Ngannou and that makes it 95-94 to Fury.
The elbow should have been points deducted.
Sorry teddy with that score card Joe Rogan thinks you should be in jail
No one has quite said it this way, but Ngannou has a special body type - he's like a larger version of Mike Tyson. Thick neck and thighs, heavily muscled, sturdy frame. Like The Thing in _Fantastic Four_
Very sturdy.
Fury is a bum

Answer *Yes* 💪
Let’s reverse the roles:
1) Fury dropped Ngannou
2) Fury bruised Ngannou, and not a mark on Fury
3) Fury was NEVER in trouble
4) Fury landed the most significant strikes
5) Fury won all clinch exchanges
6) Ngannou landed more non-significant punches
7) Ngannou landed an illegal elbow
Is Teddy telling us that in that scenario, we should give the win to Ngannou?
Come on now. We all know why the decision was given to Fury. And I mean given, not earned.
Big facts easy win for Francis
Did you even listen to this? A child covering his ears going but but but.
Teddy Atlas knows his stuff better than any other boxing analyst. Impressive.
I gave 2,3,4,8 and 10 = Winner: Francis!

@@delvinjoseph3481 have you ever seen boxing before?? It happens if it happens a second time then yeah
I think Fury edged it but no way...I don't think it is 98-92 or 97-92. Francis won much more than 2 rounds in my opinion. It was neck and neck with Fury just edging it I think because of his one-twos. I think Fury won 95-94 but it was close.
