1 Do healthy keto and intermittent fasting for 2 weeks -20-50g of carbs (or less) -moderate protein 3-6 ounces of meat-per meal (high quality protein per meal eggs, fish, chicken, grass fed beef) -high fat 100-130g 70% of calories -veggies 7-10 cups (don't count vegetable carbohydrates) (if that doesn't work after 2 weeks follow plan below) 1 increase protein to 7-9 ounces per meal 2 Increase fat (avocado, egg yolks, coconut oil, butter)(adrenal hormones are made from fats) 3 Key nutrients -vitamin B1, the more stress you go through the more you burn up vitamin B1, when you take excessive thinking will go away and a sense of relief -vitamin C, when people have adrenal fatigue their usually deficient in vitamin C, foods(sauerkraut, bell peppers, vegetables) -Potassium, the more adrenal fatigue you have the less potassium you're going to have, take electrolytes 4 exercise -long walks in nature for 1 hour (no phone or answering calls)(getting space and oxygen) 5 stress technique
Dr. Berg has literally bettered my life - I've followed his videos and lost 40 lbs, I sleep now, and I feel so much better (not lethargic). Thank you sir.
I guess you bettered it because it was always your choice to do or not to do what he recommends ...I am glad you did... I am glad I did...and if course thanks to Dr Berg for info and motivation.great job.sgreeveith you Tyler
Everything Dr. Berg Told me to Do has Worked Exactly like he Said it would. I Also Wake Up Fresh & Refreshed - No more need for Coffee to get me Going in the Mornings. I'm Experiencing an Improvement in Basically Every Area of my Life! The Weight Loss is just a Bonus!
Berg is simply the best. Not over marketing, consistent in his teachings, very professional with the proven results. I find him very charismatic and easy to listen.
definitely no stimulants at all. caffeine, I stopped also black tea, and also mate tea. I drink instead any type of herbal or fruit stuff I can find and I change it often. I also learned to make my cocoa with water and just a bit of milk, cause i find milk worsen my allergy. so cocoa keeps me calm, has a lot of magnesium and other minerals, and make me feel good overall.
I've spent a lot of time and effort to find a naturopathic physician and/or an RD/Nutritionist knowledgeable in these finer aspects of health and nutrition as relates to keto and IF and come up empty-handed. And here you are just giving the information away for nothing more than my willingness to watch your video. In my opinion, the best doctors are those that concern themselves more with gut health, specialized nutrition and identifying & correcting core issues above reactive treatment of individual symptoms. You're really making a huge difference in my health. I was headed for an early grave and your informative and instructional videos have given me a new lease on a longer, happier, more active life. Thank you.
Great video - I went through an intensely stressful period that lasted from May to October 2019. During this time my weight went through the roof, my arm muscles turned to flab, the flab around my tummy and hips increased and I got shocking colds and flu from October to December. I couldnt understand how my body was turning to such shit in such a short space of time. I am still healing from the trauma, but thanks to Dr Berg's insight; I now understand my adrenal fatigue. Thank you so much Dr Berg - I am in a better place and on a sure road to recovery.
I was absolutely burned out up until last year. At only 34 years old I could barely get through a day's work. No matter how much I slept I still felt exhausted, and not a normal exhaustion. It was like I wanted to collapse. Quitting coffee was the major game changer for me, I also started taking adaptogens like ashwaghanda and astragalus. Honestly my life has totally changed, I no longer feel like a zombie. I have ENERGY ❤️
I was doing really well on Keto & IF. Down 70# & felt like I was in decent shape. Along came Family "having to have" Carbs & sugar around all the time. As I gave into their common denominator, I found I got angrier and impatient with everybody making messes & not cleaning up after themselves. Having gremlins around can really mess up the momentum of healthy Keto. Objective ignorance demands several meals a day on schedule with carbs and sweets to top it off. I found not having anybody around, is healthier.
Healthier for them, too, unfortunately. Your own toxic attitude and nescient codependence and behavior clearly made you an utterly insufferable pr**k to live with. Your own self-induced stress not only significantly undermined your own health and previous progress, but it most certainly caused immeasurable harm to their health as well, at least as bad as the carb/sugar toxicity. Damn shame, really. Hope for much better health for the lot of you.
Ever since I've dropped all carbs and sugar besides sweet potatoes, my anxiety has completely subsided. I keep a carb in there because I tend to lose waaaay too much water and get dehydrayed if I don't (although I will admit I lose weight really fast the more carbs I cut). I have found that I can still reach ketosis (I get that nasty breath) even with eating a sweet potato everyday while doing IF. Total net carbs usually comes out to about 50g per day. It's amazing what getting the proper nutrition can do for our bodies.
@@chevyblueangel At the beginning stages especially, you will urinate a lot and you will have a weird taste in your mouth. Usually energy levels will go up but you will get extremely fatigured if you don't add in extra salt and potassium, so make sure you hydrate with electrolytes! Rapid weight loss is also a good indicator you are in ketosis.
Im glad to hear someone else eats sweet potatoes. I cut my main source of carbs two weeks ago, that being rice. I have to have some other form of carb and I choose sweet potatoes and plantains. I also eat berries. Blackberries/strawberries. I've been feeling alot better. The electrolytes help!
@@CubitaLola Yes definitely! I tend to prefer fruit (berries, cherries, grapes) over potatoes/rice now but if sweet potatoes work for you, eat them. I would say up to 100g of carbs per day with moderate activity will still give you great benefits. Fruit definitely provides a lot of hydration and curbs cravings. Do what works best for you!
PLEASE HELP ME MAKE THIS TOP COMMENT: When Doctor Berg talks about ounces, he means 1 ounce = 5 grams aprox. (NOT your regular 1 ounce = 30 grams aprox.) as he explained on his video ‘How Much Protein Do You Need'. This is important because it can lead to confussion, at first I tought I needed like 180 grams of protein per meal, see the difference? Cheers!
@@roverclar huh. pretty sure they do. every food label has grams of protein for every serving, which is listed as ounces/grams. so. If it doesn't have a label, science class in 6th grade taught us Protein has 4 calories per gram by weight, Fat has 9 grams, and Carbs have 4. It shows that Americans don't own kitchen scales like Europeans, who never bake without them.
I am vegan and don't actually do the keto diet, I also am breastfeeding and am currently beginning a new pregnancy as well. However, I always take away little things from your videos that have overall helped me achieve a higher level of health than I had in my 20's! I am very grateful for your channel as a resource of health! Thank you!
What y’all think if you been a one meal person most of your life?I admit i eat to much sugar and i am fixing/working on that so just the right foods??!!
With low carb can you still eat rice and potato in small amounts??? Or is Low carb looking for other alternatives to eat like none of the startchy vegtables???..... I need help thank you!!...
@@igotsomecuddylastnight7116 Low carb means cutting out all but fibrous veg ideally. The whole point is not to raise insulin to the level where you store not burn fat. Eating small amounts of potatoes, rice and similar carbs will probably just keep your insulin too high. But.... to keep your sanity, a highish carb day once a week won't do too much harm. Definitely not if it enables you to face the rest of the low carb week. In time and when you see results the urge to eat pizza, chips etc will disappear
I had the best sleep last night and watching this video this morning I think it’s because I’ve been following the adrenal guidelines. If I didn’t have you Dr. Berg menopause would be absolutely miserable and I would just think that was normal. Thank you for all your work and your amazing products!!!
Oh yes, when dentist Price asked one Indian if they know how to prevent scurvy, the indian replied he needed to ask the chief of his tribe. He came back, that chief allowed him to share the secret, because dr. Price was their friend telling them to avoid food of white man. Then he explained to him how they divide the adrenal glands of caribu into as many pieces as many big and small indians there are....
Entered the keto diet with insane loads of stress and been in a vicious cykle of stress. Hard to get out of. My body eating itself and I'm severely underweight. I will try this. Thank you Dr. If anyone else experiencing the same please leave a comment. I don't have anyone to talk to it about
I have some similar issues... not on ketosis at all. What I've just started is liver, for copper (flabby skin from weight loss) and more potassium (cream of tartar). I think massage and gentle exercise very important.
I love Dr Bergs work.. I can say from personal experience though that in combination of what he is advising do the inner work to deal with your past and you will see how the magic happens without dieting or anything.. All my physical changes Inc weight loss just by doing the inner work is absolutely amazing! Thanks Doc! 🙏💕
Thank you doctor Berg because you have figured out that I have Cushing’s disease and have for the last 30 years so now I’m getting treatment I would’ve never known if it weren’t for you so thank you
I have adrenal fatigue and hashimoto i cannot lose weight.. I gained 10 pounds since autumn i only lost 2.. I cannot eat Bell Peppers and nightshades because of hashimoto
Fasting with adrenal fatigue is dangerous. Take it from a person who has had adrenal fatigue for 10 years. 2020 was the worst and I’m still struggling. When you’re doing keto you have to wait until you’re fat adapted until you start fasting or it will screw up your adrenals even more.
I feel I've been doing ok but I do have coffee with some butter while fasting and I also do electrolytes. It seems to get me through a fast but, also, I do not go over 15 hours. I just started two weeks ago and have not been able to make it to 16 hours. I've had adrena fatigue for a long time as well as hashimotos
Dr Berg, many people do not recommend intermittent fasting at all for Adrenal Fatigue, in fact they recommend frequently eating to balance out the blood sugar level. You’ve helped so much and wanted to see your opinion on this.
Eating every few hrs is not going to balance sugar levels! It will eventually cause diabetes 2. If one has adrenal fatigue increasing protein/fats will help adrenal function, and increasing vit. c which our adrenals need. I suspect its high carbs low fat lifestyle that contributed to adrenal burnout to begin with so trust that you can do IF but go slower.
Dear Dr Berg, I have been into IF (very low carb) for 6 weeks and started OMAD a few days ago. I feel like I am starting to live again at 52. A small and bright spot of light is shining at the end of the tunnel already. From what I can notice and after learning so much from you and all your fantastic videos and other tutorials, I might need to "fix" adrenal fatigue. I would highly appreciate some extra clarification regarding quantities of nutrients to adjust my diet from IF (eating window of 4h) to OMAD. In this way, what would be recommended take as quantities for: - Protein intake in OMAD? For IF you recommend 3 to 6 oz each meal. In OMAD I do one meal so should I eat 6 to 12 oz in my only meal? - Regarding fat the same question: instead of 100 to 130g per meal, should I eat 200 to 260 g in my only meal? - Vitamine C intake (natural sources) I already take 3X1000mg a day. Should it be enough? - Vitamine B1 I take 8,4mg per day (mixed with the remaining B complex). Should I make any adjustments? - Potassium: I eat lots of greens but in OMAD might need to adjust with some KCL. How much should I take? Maybe I get luky and you will choose this question to the next live Q&A with you! 🙂 Big hug from Portugal
Love your videos and the info. you provide, but... there seem to be a couple of inconsistencies here - not saying errors, would just like clarification. Most articles I've read on adrenal fatigue suggest NOT doing IF. My adrenals are extremely weak at the moment. I've been doing IF for 3-4 months and still feel pretty crappy until my first meal. On days when I have an a.m. appointment, I eat breakfast (still fast for approx. 14 hrs.) and feel much better. Also, if I try walking more than 25-30 minutes, I experience an energy crash (post exertion malaise) that can last days.
I also did poorly on Keto because of my adrenals, but I could still IF when I ate carbs during my feeding window. I can't do vigorous exercise for more than a few minutes without having days of fatigue afterward, but I've always walked a lot, so I get a few miles in each day by walking to and from a bus stop farther away than my usual one.
I thought intermittent fasting was stressful to your body. So stressing out your adrenal glands? I love intermittent fasting. But now I am confused?? Can someone answer this? Thanks
Just to those who are having trouble, above ground vegetable carbohydrates make a huge difference in my ability to lose weight. My body does count the carbs. Fat does not fill me up and I don't get over being hungry doing IF. If I could handle being hungry, I'd not have had an issue to begin with. I've been doing low carb (
DOC !!! WITH 3.5MIL FOLLOWERS WE NEED A VID OF " WHEN YOU DO TO MUCH IF " OR "WHEN TO CUT BACK " MANY PPL LIKE ME TENT TO OVERDO IT IN EVERYTHING , WITH IF I GOT EVENTUALLY LITHARGY LOSS OF SEXUAL DRIVE AND A FEW MORE , WHEN ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ? IM SOUTING CAUSE THIS NEEDS TO BE HEARD !!!!
I’ve watched several videos of your adrenal series and feel like I’ve finally found answers! So many of these issues I deal with daily. I’m now starting intermittent fasting and Keto, and heard good things about alternative day fasting. My concern is does this fasting method work well or against adrenal fatigue body types? Thank you for opening my eyes!
Hello Kira. We don't see any problem with that. Dr. Berg recommends regular fasting but since you are new, just do it gradually and give your body some time to adjust. -Dr. Berg's Support Team
DrBerg, when are you going to give us the new trace mineral liquid? Love your work. I have been telling my success story to all my Friends about Keto and IF.
I had a baby, I had a 1 year old diagnosed with severe autism and PANS, and my marriage almost ended all in the same time frame.... I can legitimately say stress almost killed me. My kidneys got so infected I went septic with a 105 fever. But the entire time prior...I kept feeling pain in my back area....turns out it was my adrenal glands.... my aldesterone levels are also completely off....going in next month to do a saline infusion test. I've never been so tired in my life, especially on my periods. This was all on keto diet....going to do IF again to see if that helps.
IF, Keto, is great but for me vitamins, Walking on grass, sun baths, hug trees, deep breathing, water with lime, mineral salt, praying rosary, reading the Bible, journaling, where the key, besides the diet and 12-14 IF.
He says to start with adrenal eating plan. Then if that does not work, to switch (to thyroid in your case). Each person has a primary body type to eat for, he says.
I wish videos like this were sent directly to me because it pertains to me instead of just accidently finding it pop up. If we heard information in the order of which it is needed...how to begin fixing the problem, how to maintain stability, how to stay healthy now that you are fixed.
Dr. Berg, treating the root cause of the adrenal fatigue is the most important thing. For many people, adrenal function weakens because of poor gut health ie SIBO, intestinal (colon) dysbiosis from antibiotics use, etc. Sauerkraut and fermented foods should NOT be consumed as this will make the dysbiosis worse. Avoid inflammatory foods such as bellpeppers, potatoes (nightshades), etc. as these damage the lining of the intestines. Work with a Naturopathic physician and order Genova Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis to test for the patient's microbiome (beneficial and pathogenic strains of bacteria) and digestive enzymes. From here, if the patient has severe lack of good flora (often from antibiotic use) they will need Fecal Microbiota Transplants (FMTs) from a health stool donor to restore the good strains that are no longer present as they have been killed off with antibiotics. Typically antibiotics are given for 14 days prior to FMTs to wipe out the colon of the bad bacteria. Studies show that 10 treatments of FMTs via enema is the minimum recommended protocol for good clinical outcomes of a restored microbiome. There are additional steps that you may need to take in order to ensure success like reducing inflammation in the colon first. A good peptide for healing the intestines is BPC-157, it's available by rx as oral and injection. I recommend the injection as malabsorption prevents the oral from working well in most patients. 150mcg twice daily is good. Most MDs are not aware of these peptides, so seek a Naturopath physician as they are more likely to have experience with them.
It was a "miracle," I took your Adrenal & Cortisol Support & Sleeping Pill and I sept for 8 hours, I haven't slept for 8 hours in over a decade! I started taking these pills two nights ago!
I'm surprised he didn't mention salt and adrenals, years ago a naturopath told me that if you crave salt it means your adrenals are weak, and that the adrenals really need salt to make their substances..
Dear Dr. Berg. Would you please create a video on how to come off Keto without gaining the weight back??? I have donde Keto successfully a couple of times. One of them for about 2 years. Due to lifestyle/routine changes I stopped. I found myself confused in what to eat and I ended up gaining a lot of weight. Perhaps my body could not process carbs effectively anymore??? Keto gave me so many benefits (mental clarity, weight control) but I want to know how to cycle OUT when I know the I will be unable to follow the diet properly. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Dr. Berg. I have followed you for years. I hope you get to read my comment.
Why cycle off if its giving you benefits? It should be a lifestyle not a diet. Adding back in carbs & sugar will cause weight gain so one has to figure out maintenance once the weight is lost. One can do 2-3 meals per day, low carb/sugar to maintain the weight loss. If you start to gain do one meal per day, fast 20-24 hrs. OMAD is great for maintenance.
Thank you for doing this. I just didn't understand how to calculate things organize my meals with work and all. I will get groceries and start tomorrow.
Coffee makes me more tired and gives me brain fog as well as organic coconut oil. I understand the coffee but why the coconut oil making me feel this way?
Thank you for your excellent videos! With all your videos, when mentioning eating fat and increasing fat, please remember those who have had their gallbladder removed and let them know what they should do about whatever you're teaching on. I've had mine removed, and every time I see you telling me to eat fat or increase it, I always wonder "How can I tolerate doing that?!" BTW, supplements with ox bile may help many, but I tried taking your D3 supplement, and it kept me in the bathroom, so sadly I had to stop using it. So, what can a person do who needs to consume more fat but has no gall bladder? Thanks!
The liver will eventually pick up the need to increase bile release if you go very slow w/ increasing fat. Also experiment to see which healthy fats are causing more trouble. It's a shame that doctors so quickly remove gallbladders. I solved my gallbladder issue by going keto, with fasting. My Mom & 2 sisters lost their gall bladders so I knew I would lose mine if I didn't change my diet. I found it was the low-fat-high-carb lifestyle that was contributing to my gallbladder issues. If doctors knew this fewer would lose their gallbladders. All of them have problems with diarrhea since removal, even ten+ yrs later. So go super slow with increasing healthy fats. Good luck!!
Dr. berg thank you so much for the diet because I have Addison’s disease and I needed to hear what’s most important for me to eat. God bless you I can’t thank you enough.🥰🙏💋🦋💕
What if you have 3 stage kidney disease but only one kidney? I don't have a dr. Cause all they do is put me on meds that make it worse for my liver disease NOW. I've been doing keto for a couple yrs now for health only but weight is still falling off which is great. But I'm mainly doing it for health. It has worked better than any pill out there for all my health issues. So thank you! Now, I'm dealing with constantly being tired. I'm 45yrs old adrenal type and retired. Born with atrophy of left kidney till it just quit on me after my second child in my early 30's. So how does this plan work with only one kidney for health? Oh and I have rr ms which made me search out your keto plan in the first place. I know I'm a mess lol. I did the Dr thing and it just made things way worse. So I do your plan, supplements, shakes and colloidal silver. I felt much better and never went back. My choice. No one else's responsibility. I choose to stay natural and organic.
Hi dr Berg. I’m still confused how estrogen affects menopause. Do you get hot flashes because your adrenals are not producing estrogen Or they are producing too much estrogen? Thank you so much
I have heard that intermittent fasting is not good for adrenal fatigue, as it causes more stress = more cortisol in our bodies. Dr, what do you think about this today? (As this is an older video.) Intermittent fasting has not worked for me at all.
Yes Keto causes stress and need for cortisol so it will initially worsen any condition arising from hormonal deficiency (hence the effect on menopause ) but probably it would improve all these conditions if u push thru with it for at least a month or two but if it's too difficult u could try IF but not full on keto and maybe hormone supplementation or if u're lucky to live in a sunny place then sunbathing a lot bc vit D from sun helps ur body create hormones and then after u manage that add keto to the IF and remove hormone supplementation slowly until u're feeling healed.
Hi Doc can you please provide some information on soy vs estrogen/menopause/adrenals and whether or not soy is good for you, and why so many counties consume it for health. Thank you for all your healthcare advise. It's the best on UA-cam.
Do not consume soy in any form! It will destroy your immune system, it is assimilated as estrogen. I'm in in the naturopath ic medical field. Please don't do it, you will regret it, the damage of soy in your organs and adrenals is almost irreversible.

One thing I haven't heard you talk about or address and is absolutely essential, is water (H2O) intake and staying hydrated. Stay away from tap and purified and try and stick with Spring Water. At least half your body weight in ounces per day of water is needed to stay hydrated. So if someone weighs 200lbs, they need 100oz. of water a day. No other liquid is a substitute, and if you drink 8oz of coffee, you need to add that much more water. A lot of people also don't realize a lot of times when you think you're hungry, you're really just dehydrated and need water. During Intermittent fasting if you feel hungry, drink a bottle of water, the hunger will go away.
I have heard that spring water being the best-however, we are a family of 6, and a case of Crystal Geyser Spring Water is almost $8 per case ( 40 bottles to a case ) It would cost me over $100 a month for water. We are in N Cal. Water used to cost around $5 - before the pandemic. We have to pay a return tax for all bottles and cans here.
@@elkeschmitt623 Better than drinking tap water that's been treated with chlorine and fluoride, fluoride being a by product of the aluminum industry. Both highly toxic neurotoxins. If you can't do spring water, buy a Berkey 5gl filtration unit. Or better yet move out of California asap. Not worth staying in such a tyrannical state, gov, medical, education. Just my 2cents. Take care.
What if you have Adrenal Fatigue but weight isn’t a problem? I had an adrenal crash one year ago and lost 15lbs in 2 weeks and another 7 lives throughout this past year.
I am overwhelmed with all the contradictory info on everything. Which is causing me more stress. LOL I am so confused. Pain in my right side. Constipation then taking bile salts but then having diarrhea and completely exhausted. Fight or flight stress {literally) for 13 yrs....financially caring for 2 families, caring for my parents, which live in another state so I am going back and forth constantly. I am trying everything to get better but nothing works. I quit going to a doctor because the only thing I was offered was a cholesterol lowering drug, anti-depressant, and a colonoscopy. There is so much contradictory info on the internet I have no idea what to do. Now I am afraid that it is too late for me. Please help me to know where to start.
I understand, I think there is a lot of contradictory information on the internet too. I think it's best to definitely stay away from sugar and gluten - I feel my best then. I've also cut out the white rice since it turns into sugar increasing insulin levels. I don't do very well on super low carb.
Dr. Berg reading your book I discovered that I am thyroid body time. Could you make a video taking only about it and what should I eat and the kind of exercise should I do. Thanks!!
I wonder; it would be interesting, if your Doctor would/could agree? Dr. Berg did state in this video that these types are basically his observation? Another person wrote a book on eating for your "blood type," which he debunked in one of his videos? If you confirm with your doctor that would be a good confirmation on Dr. Berg body types. Thanks.
If I don't eat lots of protein and a minimum of 3 meals a day I will not drop weight. I hate eating 3 times a day but if I drop to just 2 I stop losing. I also can't eat a lot of fat or I stop losing. Eat 3 times and lower the fat and I drop almost 2 pounds a day. I have a belly but I am solid muscle and I work physically for my work. I have adrenal issues, so I accidentally did the right thing.
That's why you need to do healthy keto!!!! I have adrenal fatigue but I was not supplementing and eating all my nutrients that I needed in my eating window
fasting is also some stress on your body And can also cause you to produce cortisol. You really should work your way into longer and longer fasts and not just go straight into a 20 hour fast. 12, 14, 16, 18, 20.
Did your screen blackout? As I was sharing, my screen blacked out and I could hear but I couldn't see the visible information. Did this happen to anyone else? Dr. Berg is walking in his purpose! I have had a physically life change to better health with immeasurable wealth of health information than I did first starting.
Thank God, I discovered the perfect keto diet for myself pretty early in my journey to cure a hypertension problem and, as a bonus, lose 28 pounds, in the past 145 day process. I'm now 141 pounds. This is interesting... When I work physically in my job, especially outdoors, and show at least 6,000 steps a day on my step counter, I'm never very hungry. When I have sedentary days (i.e., under 2,500 steps), I have a tapeworm appetite. Paradoxical logic. Conclusion: Our bodies are strange organisms, designed to be moving and grooving to operate a optimal balance. It's not just the food, but the whole body's operation, that determines its destiny.
Has anyone who actually has Adrenal Fatigue or Addisons disease tried this diet? What has your experience been? Just unsure of this because I currently need to eat everything 3-4 hours with my Adrenal Fatigue.
Before my adrenals crashed 6 months ago I used to do intermittent fasting 14-16hrs and felt so good my digestion was great. Since my adrenal fatigue (HPA axis dysregulation) I’ve been eating more often throughout the day, protein and good fat mini meals because that’s what’s recommended for adrenal fatigue by most experts, my functional medicine doctor recommendeds that and to avoid fasting during adrenal fatigue until you recover…So idk what’s correct in regards to the frequency of eating when it comes to HPA axis dysfunction. All I know is that snacking thought out the day has made me bloated and making me gain weight in my abdomen. So I’m gonna scale back to only eating 3 times a day vs 5-6 mini meals…doesn’t work for me. But I’m still to nervous to do long fasting. Maybe I’ll just do 13 hrs I seem to be fine.
Long walks outside exhaust me for the rest of the day. I'm literally good for nothing after a 1 hr walk. I don't know what that means. I can do yoga before bed, but a 1 hr walk with the dog leaves me so spent i can't even string words together sometimes.
@@pamelapamper nope, I'm estrogen dominant. I think it's an adrenal thing. Probably a B12 thing, and who knows what else, lol. I know Dr. Berg had adrenal issues, and bc of that he cannot do sustained cardio without being wiped out for days after. For some reason my body reacts to a long walk like sustained cardio, and I'm only 150 lbs. Oh well. I have yoga, lol.
most important thing is to design the meals according the circadian rhythm of cortisol. when the liver does not work perfect, then on keto/fasting/zero carb the body needs to crank up cortisol really high to push gluconeogenesis to maintain a sufficient blood sugar level. in the morning this happens without carbs in the breakfast. theoretically this could be even worse when having a whey protein shake which makes blood glucose level drop. what i do now is having 60-70g of oats with milk in the morning that supports the blood sugar level. that is aroun 35-45g of carbs in the morning. that makes cortisol go down and you can feel the relaxing anti-stress effekt. 35-45g of carbs in morning on keto sounds much but it is not because the cells are very insulin sensitive in the morning. that would probably be similar to 20g of carbs in the evening. what happens now is, cortisol goes down faster, the body does not burn muscle protein, also the body produces more testosterone because of lower cortisol. next and super important thing is that hunger for the rest of the day goes down for a long time because the body does not need that much protein. this also means that you are fine with a second high protein meal and you might have enough food to skip the last meal and do IF 16/8. with this hack keto works again for weight loss. it took me more than a year to figure that out. at the end it is more a targeted ketogenic diet where the target is a low cortisol level.
This video is very helpful for me. I already do many healthy things, but these reminders help me to remember why I do them. I take a lot of notes too. Thks Dr. Berg!
I love your book Dr. Berg! Quick question: how long does the adrenal body type person need to practice aerobic exercise before they can add in anaerobic exercise?
HOLD UP , Dr.Berg. Did I hear that correctly? We don't count the veggie carbs? I've been using carb manager and it has definitely been adding my veggie carbs into my net total. Should I disregard this? I would eat way more veggies if this is doable without sacrificing the amazing pace I've been getting thus far.
As long as the veggies are low in sugar you should be fine. Carbs in vegetables comes mostly from fiber and fiber is not absorbed in our bodies but used to excrete waste from our body.
Hi Dr. Berg, First off thank you for the amazing videos on how to overcome Adrenal Fatigue. I am curious though about your thoughts on a woman’s hormonal balance on keto. I have found in the past when I ate very low carb that I would become very very emotional. How would you recommend avoiding this? This is my primary apprehension about going completely keto vs allowing healthy grains in. Thank you so much!
Give it time! It takes a while to adapt to lower carbs. And one usually will go thru sugar withdrawal which will cause one to become emotional. Increase healthy salt, like Real Salt, just a small pinch on the tongue should help with keto flu.
I've heard it's normal to lose weight when you have adrenal fatigue, not gain. Since I've had adrenal fatigue I lose weight easier. I've never had mid-section fat either. My fat is easily distributed. But I give this doctor kudos for the easy ways to check low adrenals at home!
1 Do healthy keto and intermittent fasting for 2 weeks
-20-50g of carbs (or less)
-moderate protein 3-6 ounces of meat-per meal (high quality protein per meal eggs, fish, chicken, grass fed beef)
-high fat 100-130g 70% of calories
-veggies 7-10 cups (don't count vegetable carbohydrates)
(if that doesn't work after 2 weeks follow plan below)
1 increase protein to 7-9 ounces per meal
2 Increase fat (avocado, egg yolks, coconut oil, butter)(adrenal hormones are made from fats)
3 Key nutrients
-vitamin B1, the more stress you go through the more you burn up vitamin B1, when you take excessive thinking will go away and a sense of relief
-vitamin C, when people have adrenal fatigue their usually deficient in vitamin C, foods(sauerkraut, bell peppers, vegetables)
-Potassium, the more adrenal fatigue you have the less potassium you're going to have, take electrolytes
4 exercise
-long walks in nature for 1 hour (no phone or answering calls)(getting space and oxygen)
5 stress technique
*#1 =* - long walks in nature for 1 hour (no phone or answering calls)(getting space and oxygen)
Deep breathing

Quitting coffee really seemed to make the most difference in my adrenal fatigue !!! I’d highly recommend
definitely no stimulants at all. caffeine, I stopped also black tea, and also mate tea. I drink instead any type of herbal or fruit stuff I can find and I change it often. I also learned to make my cocoa with water and just a bit of milk, cause i find milk worsen my allergy. so cocoa keeps me calm, has a lot of magnesium and other minerals, and make me feel good overall.
Yeah thats what im thinking too@
Dr. Berg missed that one. I would put eliminating coffee at #1.
I still don't understand if adrenal fatigue causes anxiety? Are you treated with antidepressants?
@@pavlinka9873 I think the anxiety causes adrenal fatigue due to body always being in fight or flight mode.

When i want reliable, actionable advice, i google Dr Berg. Thank you so much for being here for us.

Walking for 30-60 minutes builds oxygen reserve in the body. You need your minerals and vitamins as well.
The king of health advice and knowledge. God bless you.
Berg is King! 🌿🙌
How do you know when you are in ketosis? And when you've come off it?
@@chevyblueangel At the beginning stages especially, you will urinate a lot and you will have a weird taste in your mouth. Usually energy levels will go up but you will get extremely fatigured if you don't add in extra salt and potassium, so make sure you hydrate with electrolytes! Rapid weight loss is also a good indicator you are in ketosis.
Yes...especially if you go totally Organic .
Cheers!
This was really confusing me - thank you for clearing this up!
that's how macros in Nutrition are measured, by content not weight.

Dr Berg, many people do not recommend intermittent fasting at all for Adrenal Fatigue, in fact they recommend frequently eating to balance out the blood sugar level. You’ve helped so much and wanted to see your opinion on this.
I fall into this category, I need to eat every few hours and through the night.
Fasting is bad for adrenals
Forget it
Eat when hungry to keep blood sugars balanced

Dear Dr Berg, I have been into IF (very low carb) for 6 weeks and started OMAD a few days ago. I feel like I am starting to live again at 52. A small and bright spot of light is shining at the end of the tunnel already. From what I can notice and after learning so much from you and all your fantastic videos and other tutorials, I might need to "fix" adrenal fatigue. I would highly appreciate some extra clarification regarding quantities of nutrients to adjust my diet from IF (eating window of 4h) to OMAD.
In this way, what would be recommended take as quantities for:
- Protein intake in OMAD?
Big hug from Portugal
Don't listen to this video
Is bad advice
Fasting is bad for adrenals
You need to eat and rest as much as you can
I also did poorly on Keto because of my adrenals, but I could still IF when I ate carbs during my feeding window. I can't do vigorous exercise for more than a few minutes without having days of fatigue afterward, but I've always walked a lot, so I get a few miles in each day by walking to and from a bus stop farther away than my usual one.
So glad i found this channel, but have you ever used DHEA to treat adrenal fatigue?

"The BIG SALAD" It's like a small salad , With a lot of extra stuff.
Sounds like you could contribute some very helpful videos yourself!

Today I’ve been introduced to your videos. So happy!

Dr. Berg, thank you so much-life changing....so grateful to you.
Well, kind of hard to change a body like mine that has been stressed from the very beginning of life. I try, but....

Hi dr Berg. I’m still confused how estrogen affects menopause. Do you get hot flashes because your adrenals are not producing estrogen Or they are producing too much estrogen? Thank you so much
Your adrenals don’t produce estrogen; that’s your ovaries. With menopause, your ovaries produce less estrogen.
You are the best doctor in the web. Thank you so much 🙏👊👋
It's seems all my problems come back to my adrenal fatigue. I'll be doing this plan :)

I have heard that intermittent fasting is not good for adrenal fatigue, as it causes more stress = more cortisol in our bodies. Dr, what do you think about this today? (As this is an older video.) Intermittent fasting has not worked for me at all.
I’ve heard the same and with menopause keto and IF makes everything worse
Yep- same from my internist- a woman.
They say to eat an her after getting up , if I don’t & get busy I will feel pretty bad

Thanks!!
He has videos about it, just type in "dr berg thyroid" in UA-cam
Keto made me so much worse. I added back unrefined grains and it made such a difference. Keto isn't foe everyone suffering from adrenal fatigue.
You're right
But they would never admit it
Fasting is even worse
I do better on paleo. No grains but healthy carbs.
That's why you need to do healthy keto!!!! I have adrenal fatigue but I was not supplementing and eating all my nutrients that I needed in my eating window
Thanks Dr. Berg I think this video was for me I needed this!! I'm gonna apply it now!! ❤❤❤
Most welcome!
fasting is also some stress on your body And can also cause you to produce cortisol. You really should work your way into longer and longer fasts and not just go straight into a 20 hour fast. 12, 14, 16, 18, 20.
invisibleAzN amen!
I've only been able to reach 15. And that's with some coffee and butter and water and electrolytes.
Congrats!
@@JF-fx2qv - Thanks. I've learned everything new, I know on UA-cam. Ya gotta love YT content creators!
I couldn't agree more, Alexandra Ella,..thank you, Dr. Berg
Estrogen deficiency maybe?
Thank you, Dr Berg.
Do you recommend the same diet for someone who is not trying to lose weight or a bit underweight?
HOLD UP , Dr.Berg. Did I hear that correctly? We don't count the veggie carbs? I've been using carb manager and it has definitely been adding my veggie carbs into my net total. Should I disregard this? I would eat way more veggies if this is doable without sacrificing the amazing pace I've been getting thus far.
As long as the veggies are low in sugar you should be fine. Carbs in vegetables comes mostly from fiber and fiber is not absorbed in our bodies but used to excrete waste from our body.
Hi Dr Berg! What vitamin B1 supplements are you taking?
Hi Dr. Berg,
First off thank you for the amazing videos on how to overcome Adrenal Fatigue. I am curious though about your thoughts on a woman’s hormonal balance on keto. I have found in the past when I ate very low carb that I would become very very emotional. How would you recommend avoiding this? This is my primary apprehension about going completely keto vs allowing healthy grains in.
Thank you so much!
I am waiting watching your comment too for a reply. Thanks for asking this
Have you tried Keto yet or ‘just’ low carb? Seen any difference?
Give it time! It takes a while to adapt to lower carbs. And one usually will go thru sugar withdrawal which will cause one to become emotional. Increase healthy salt, like Real Salt, just a small pinch on the tongue should help with keto flu.
I've heard it's normal to lose weight when you have adrenal fatigue, not gain. Since I've had adrenal fatigue I lose weight easier. I've never had mid-section fat either. My fat is easily distributed. But I give this doctor kudos for the easy ways to check low adrenals at home!
I don't know where u heard that from
type into google "What are the symptoms of adrenal fatigue?" 3rd one down "Unexplained weight loss." @@jasonj7755
