Dusty Hill did the lead vocals on Tush. From Wikipedia….”As the closing song in their setlists for many tours "Tush" would be the last song Hill would sing. After the death of Hill in 2021, the band performed the song for the first time on July 30, 2021, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with Gibbons placing Dusty's hat on his microphone then Gibbons taking lead vocals to the song. A few tour dates later on August 6, Gibbons told the crowd “We’re going to have Dusty singing through the magic of Memorex.” The band would now end their concerts by playing the song along to an audio vocal recording from Hill's last performance.”❤️
thats hella cool right there
So touching! Thank you for this info.
@@RikkieRokks
You’re welcome.
I got to see their first concert in an old airplane hanger off pacific coast highway around 1976. It had become a bar and the stage was the bar. Cleared the floor and WHAM !!! Their last tour at SDSU outdoor amphitheatre, still AMAZING. Glad I recorded most of it.. Thanks, great tribute 🙏 ❤️
Saw them in Missoula, MT shortly after Dusty died. It was a boiled-down show - 3 old dude playing the blues. And it was awesome! While I wish I'd seen them back in the Afterburner days in the 80's, I finally got to see the legends perform live.
This is the late, great, Dusty Hill, on bass and on vocals. Here's a vote for "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide..."
Hell Yes
My favorite ZZ Top song
Yes I love it when I was first listening to ZZ Top back in the '70s I don't know I'd say I'm bad I'm Nationwide everybody's just like okay
Just got paid today ...
I’ve always defined ZZ Top’s sound as “Texas Soul” because that’s where you feel it. Down to your soul.
Yep. If you have to label it, that's as good as any!
Or Red Dirt Rock
Perfect description, "Texas Soul". Love me some ZZ - Kids next ZZ Top try "Jesus just left Chicago / Waitin for the Bus" ♥
Actually the official genre is called 'Texas Blues". See Stevey Ray Vaughn, Janis Joplin, George Thorogood...
@@89801wink There's no red dirt in Southeast Texas.
The nick name for them is "The Little Ol' Band from Texas"... You ought to try one of their old bluesy songs like the medley "Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago" or "Blue Jean Blues".
Billy Gibbons played a fictional version of himself in the TV show "Bones". He played the father of one of the characters (Angela). When one of the other characters was dating her he got him drunk and had a portrait of her tattooed on him.
Oh wow! I remember that!
Always play it in the key of "G-Demolished"....if you know, you know.
I always Loved seeing the "Reverend Billy G." on Bones.
Actually, the nickname is "The Little Ol' **Bar** Band From Texas"!! 😁 So Jay was right when he said that they came outta those "tough Texas bars"!!
I heard Blue Jean Blues back in my teen years so more than 40 years ago. (not gonna say how many years.) This has always been in my Top 3 ZZ Top songs. I am from Texas, and saw them live not long after album came out. R.I.P. Dusty...
For more Texas stuff, try "Tuff Enuff"by the Fabulous Thunderbirds with lead guitar by Jimmie Vaughn (Stevie Ray's older brother and guitar inspiration).
Wrap It Up from them was cool too. Always dug that one.😎
Love them!
Nothing better than Texas Blues Rock. ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc....you can't go wrong
Damn right!
Sir Paul McCartney was once asked what it was like to be in the greatest band in the world. He responded, “I wouldn’t know, I was never a member of ZZ Top”.
I've never heard that. That is quite a bold statement.
You’re an idiot
Jay and Amber, your next ZZ Top reaction should be “Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers!” Absolute power rocker!
No no no. La Grange....how, how, how, how! I also like rough boys and sharp dressed man.
The vocals and guitars on “Beer Drinkers” are incredible.
Beeeerrr drinkers annnd heeeellllll raisers
Jesus just left chicago
J & Amber, Their "Legs", "Tube Snake Boogie" and "Cheap Sunglasses" are next for you!! Saw them in concert June 1986, what a show!!
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. 🕶️ 😎
We don't need to pervert the channel, with the second second suggestion, though.
Me too...June 9th,1986
Me three - although a bit earlier - the Deguello Tour in 1980 range. I remember that their stage was in the shape of the State of Texas. I didn’t smoke weed, but I sure inhaled a lot of second hand smoke! Was one of my top ten concert experiences over my 45 or so years of music enjoyment.
@@kevinconroy6108 saw them in 78 in Dallas and again in 04 at Eric Clapton's Cross road festival at the Cotton bowl with a bunch of other great guitar players from BB King Carlos Santana Buddy Guy Vince Gill and more
I'm gonna be in the minority here, but "Rough Boy" is my favorite of theirs. My favorite Billy Gibbons solo. Sounds like he channeled David Gilmour. Totally different sound.
Totally agree. The guitar solos in that song are amazing.
Rough boy is a great tune. That and Lagrange.
YES !! ❤️❤️❤️ ROUGH BOY !! 👍😃❣️
It's a nice break from their more traditional sound. Not my favorite ZZ song, but I like it. So gimme just a minute and I'll tell you why! Cheers\=/\=/
Rough Boy is a top 5 song for me too. My top 5 are all tied for #1.
Bass player Dusty Hill sang lead vocals on this song.
Imagine, these guys played together as a group for 52 years before Dusty Hill passed away. Most marriages don't last that long, let alone bands. Incredible band, and incredible talent.
Should definitely do “Jesus Just Left Chicago” next. And “LaGrange” after that. So good.
LaGrange for sure!
Two of my favorites!
They did LaGrange.
La Grange live on Howard stern it's a great long version
Oh, hell yeah.
"We're just a little ol' blues band from Texas."
If you like innuendos, try "Tube Snake Boogie," Pearl Necklace," and "Got Me Under Pressure"
It's easier to count ZZTop songs without innuendo than songs with innuendo. LoL
Frank Beard's "bearded" drum set is housed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland; look it up! Next stop: "Jesus Just Left Chicago."
Does anyone else here think that Amber is the best chair dancer ever? Always enjoy watching these reaction videos. Definitely makes me smile every day. Thanks J & Amber.
I just thought of a great act. Try to find someone who can chair dance, lip sync, and play air guitar. Too bad The Gong Show is no more. 😊
Jay one lucky guy! Amber is a joy!
Speaking of ZZTop, members voiced as themselves in animated sitcom, King of the Hill. Reason for ZZTop being on this show is that Dusty Hill plays Hank Hill's cousin. They always pranking Hank.
You go from Afternoon Delight to Tush. LOL Are we starting a running theme??🤣
Yes, Amber, Billy Gibbons sings most of the songs.
Next up, Let's Spend The Night Together?? lol
@@gypsyrocker 🤣
Old Tulsa boy here.
ZZ Top released their first album in 1971. My jr year in high school and I was SOLD immediately and have been ever since. They used to perform in Tulsa quite a bit.
Their motto/slogan was, "That little ol' band from Texas".
ZZ Top came from Texas they are a blue's boogie band with a largely influential rock overtones, they are a Southern rock band just like Leonard skinnered, and Almond brothers band, Marshall Tucker band,
The vocalist was bassist Dusty Hill. He passed away a couple of months ago.
Jay and Amber, ZZ Top is:
Billy Gibbons- guitar
Frank Beard - Drums
Dusty Hill (RIP) - Bass and lead vocals.
Frank beard has in fact no beard really
love the way they say HOLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
ZZ Top's "Waiting on a Bus - Jesus Just Left Chicago" won't disappoint. 🤟
This whole album (Fandango) kicks ass. Myself I like their early albums 70's best.
Another Afternoon Delight kinda song 😆
"Just got Paid Today" is a good one. I still sing that in my head on payday!
BEST 3 piece Band EVER!!!
ZZ Top is the only US rock band to have had the exact same line-up of members for over 50 years. Only after the death of Dusty Hill last year did the group change since its formation in 1969. Amazing!
saw a sign at one of their concerts in Milwaukie " same three chords. same three dudes. 50 years of music.....priceless
Their BIGGEST hit , So many great songs in their catalog.
Ya Billie Gibbons is the lead singer. Love them.
He is also a recurring character on Bones. He plays Angela's father. Funny as hell. Lol
Can’t wait till you do “Waitin’ for the bus/Jesus just left Chicago”
Yeah, that's Dusty on the lead vocal, such a great tune.... this was the first Top 20 hit for ZZ and still is fresh today...
“Waiting for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago” is a good one from ZZ Top
One of the best blues-to-rock bands ever.
I just saw ZZ Top in Concert last Tuesday with Cheap Trick as their Special Guest and it was AMAZING!! We got to meet them, they were really cool and down to Earth.
Texas produces a lot of fierce guitarists, from Stevie Ray Vaughn to Johnny Winter, Dimebag Darrell to Freddie King. The list is deep.
Jesus Christ his Girl is adorable 😍🥰
RIP Dusty Hill. What a voice.
Weird but true:
ZZ Top and Depeche Mode toured together in the 80s. Billy Gibbons taught Martin Gore some cool guitar stuff, and Martin Gore returned the favor by helping ZZ Top with their synth sounds. Both bands' sounds benefitted from the info exchange.
If southern rock bands were starting out now, they'd be classified as country artists. Country music is where old school rock still breathes.
Their cover of the Houston rap hit "Gotsta Get Paid"🔥🔥🔥
Dusty,'s vocals on Tush😎
hey Jordan and Amber, Fun Fact for you:
This song is one of the numerous ZZ Top songs that have The late great Dusty Hill on Lead Vocals
They loved the blues. Great documentary on Netflix about them
"Waitin' For The Bus/Jesus Left Chicago" is a must
Amber is just so sweet! I always enjoy watching her bop her head.
If you want to learn all about ZZ Top, Netflix has their documentary, “That Lil’ Old Band from Texas” (I think it’s called). It’s worth watching.
When Jimi Hendrix states that Billy Gibbons is the best guitarist ever you know the man is going to come up with some good riffs. Other ZZ Top Tracks. "Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings" Heard it on the X", "LaGrange". "Pearl Necklace", Party on the Patio ", "Mexican Blackbird" "Just Got Paid", "Blue Jean Blues", "Balinese," "Arrested While Driving Blind" and many, many more.
Yes - prefer the early stuff myself. Tres Hombres-Fandango❤🔥🔥🧨
He said that, but to be fair, Jimi said that about like 10 different guys.
@@jasonremy1627 Indeed he did.
"Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers", "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide"
La Grange is one of my ultimate road trip songs!
La Grange is a great tune too. Great music for a road trip
Before Dusty passed away they was the longest running United state group with original members. I love how they use to interdict their selves as a small back from Texas . They music is called Texas Blues
"Stages" is another ZZ Top song that's seemingly been forgotten, but is a good one. "Velcro Fly" is also worth a listen.
Yes, Stages was among my top favorites from ZZtop. A little bit of a different sound for them, though the amazing guitar work is still front and center. A little less bluesy and a bit more 80’s rock. Almost has an introspective sound to it. Everything on this album, from Stages to Rough Boy to Sleeping Bag was all great.
When I was playing with bands, this was definitely one of those songs that would always pack the dance floor. La Grange is another banger that falls right in line with this one.
It is Dusty Hill, the bass player (who recently passed) who is singing this particular track.
According to Billy Gibbons, "tush" in this song is the Southern term meaning "plush, deluxe." But Billy has been known to BS sometimes, so take it as you will
ZZ Top has a wide range of influences based on what they heard growing up from the outlaw radio stations across the border (where there were no transmission power limits, so they could he heard all over the South and sometimes up North too), and Billy having a cool baby sitter that took him to all the good music venues as a child. But I'd say the most prominent are rhythm and blues, boogie, country and rock. A very Texas style of Southern rock, and practically their own genre.
Lagrange, Lagrange, Lagrange!!! It is the quintessential example of rock harmonics on lead guitar.
Billy Gibbons, the guitarist, does most of the singing, but Tush is sung by Dusty Hill, the bass player who passed away last year.
I finally saw them live last summer in Tuscaloosa Alabama just after Dusty passed. Billy did an amazing job! It was a bittersweet bucket list moment. I thought they would cancel but Billy said Dusty would have wanted him to give a hell of a farewell show and he damn sure did!
Nice!! I grew up in Tuscaloosa. Glad you enjoyed the show. Wish I could've been there.
ZZ Top were like a diamond in the rough great band love them
A very obscure but rocking song is Bad Girl, Just Got Paid is an absolute banger, They also do a song called I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide thats a great ZZ Top classic. Many Many More!
The actual meaning of this song is not what it seems to be, although the band does acknowledge that it can be taken as such. Now, I am not a Texan, so I may not have this 100% right. The story goes that back in their youth the term "tush" could be the equivalent of what today is called "bling" or "swag." A person who showed off their wealth with their clothes, cars and such were know as "tush hogs." Dusty wrote the song about wanting to be a tush hog and having all of the stuff that goes along with it.
Bit of both, actually - they've also admitted it meant getting a piece of ass. As Billy Gibbons once said, "We had the advantage of that dual meaning of the word "tush." It's that secret blues language - saying it without saying it."
You really should check out Lucinda Williams - (It's Over) Can't Let Go. Same Blues Rock sound and great guitar... AND qualifies for Female Friday!!!!
The only rock group in history to stay together over 50 years with original members!!
That's pure Texas Soul!!! From Janis to SRV to ZZ Top, you 100% know when an artist is from Texas.
I finally figured out exactly why you two are so much FUN to watch as you're reacting. You both let yourself submerge into the music. Jordan, your head bounces. Amber, is all over the place. It's that honest appreciation that gives you both wings when the music starts.
Their official Legs video HAS to be next. It's a classic - and so much fun to watch. Amber - it's all GIRL POWER.
In 1973 I saw ZZ Top and the Bachman Turner Overdrive in a nightclub! They were incredible.
THERES A RIFF THATLL NEVER LEAVE YOUR SOUL
The slider used on the solo sections in this song is amazing!!
I have to say, this song is possibly my favourite ZZTop track.....
It has everything!!!!
Thank you for reacting to this song!! 🤘
One of the most contagious riffs that ever came off a guitar. Once that groove starts, it's hard not to get into it and start toe-tapping. :-)
Hot Texas brisket smokin' boogie woogie foot stompin' blues. They cook like no other! This is my favorite band of all time because I literally like EVERY SONG they put out. Every song!
And Billy F. is in my top 5 singers.
Love ZZTOP, sharp dressed man! Stevie Ray, cool texans!!!
The first time I saw them was in El Paso, Texas in 1972.
We made the short trip from Las Cruses, NM to see Savoy Brown and Uriah Heep, who were both fantastic, with ZZ Top opening for them.
Let me tell ya, if the headliners hadn’t shown up, no one would have left disappointed!
I suppose it’s because they hit me at a very formative time in my musical evolution, but my favorites are still Waitin On The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago, La Grange and Tush.
The late great Dusty Hill is singing lead on this one.
As for the number of albums sold, I've bought quite a few of them.
Not many guitarists can play slide guitar like Billy. Pure example in this song.
Billy Gibbons has tone to die for. Guitar players have been chasing his tone forever. Texas Blues/Rock in its finest. Gotta check out Waiting for the Bus-Jesus Just Left Chicago for another classic.
"Just Got Paid" and "La Grange" are two of my personal fave ZZT songs. I know you've already film this coming "Female Friday" vlogs, but for future recommendations, you might enjoy some more Eurythmics..in particular, "I Need A Man", (a real rocker), "Savage" (sweet, biting and downlow) or "Put The Blame On Me" (perfect 80's anthem) all off the "Savage" LP. Enjoy the tunes J & A. You guys have a great "Vlog Vibe"...very positive.
Oh yeah, "I Need a Man," please and thank you!
The band came together when Billy Gibbons left his Houston-based band, Moving Sidewalks, and looked to put together a new group, choosing Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, who had left their Dallas-based band, The Warlocks.
Also Dusty was in American Blues. They did some trippy shit like " If I was Carpenter "
That's a trio that sounds like a five man band. Legends.
Their older music such as this song is absolutely iconic. 💯
When you want some kinda easy belly rubbing music... Blue Jean Blues...is what you want from ZZ TOP!
Saw them live. So amazing, I think it was 2008. Even though they were older they had so much energy and the vocals and instrumentals were on point. They had to take away a woman who had stripped down naked and tried to climb up to the stage lol. Daryl's house has a great episode with Billy Gibbons where you get to hear him talk about some things. I don't think you have done Cheap Sunglasses. If you haven't that is my next recommendation for them.
That is the sound of slide guitar 🎸
Blue Jean Blues 💙💙
Early ZZ Top 😋👍🤠
It's what you are missing in your life...........
Wait, ZZ Top were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Wow. They're like one of only four or five rock bands that made it. I genuinely thought you had to be a country or hip hop act to get inducted. ;-)
Lol! This reminds me that my best friend's mother got a great kick out of this tune when it first came out! We did not quite know how to react!! Thanks for the reaction! ZZ Top cooks!
Heard this song as a cover in late 70's shows how old I am, and the song.
There are some great stories told about ZZ Top, who despite their money and fame stayed very grounded and humble. Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill were traveling alone driving through West Texas heading back home to Houston. Towns in West Texas are few and far in between. They get off in one of these small towns for gas and a snack. They then noticed an old building with a sign that simply noted that it was a Bar. There were about 20 vehicles parked around it and I think all were pickup trucks. I can assure you that the guys inside were a pretty rough crowd. Upon entering the bar, they noticed everyone turn to see who just came in. They were probably hoping it was a couple of local cowgirls but when they saw who it was, they simply couldn't believe their eyes. I mean what in the hell were the chances that these two famous Rock Stars would be joining them in this run-down West Texas bar. As they stared in shock the first words said was from Billy Gibbons who yelled " All drinks are on me, so drink up". After many drinks, handshakes, hugs and pictures they departed and gave those cowboys a memory that they will never forget.
All of you are suggesting the wrong songs and wrong album. "Just Got Back from Baby's" from "First Album" Pinballman1
Yes, you guys will love their early music.
I agree, old school is better
"TUSH" is always a crowd favorite with Dusty doing the vocals, and he means every word he says...... AWESOME
Classic 12 bar blues. Makes my heart sing!
Speaking of Hall of Fame this year’s inductees include Dolly Parton,Eminen,Lionel Richie,Pat Benater,Duran Duran,Carly Simon, and the Eurthymics among others
Dolly tried to decline early on, but she got it anyway. She said she didn't deserve it. 😊
The Dust had some great vocals. Him singing Elvis Presley's jailhouse rock, Viva Las Vegas and let me be your teddy bear was awesome to hear him sing them
Not heard this one by ZZ Top . But I really liked it. 👍. Had me stomping my feet & nodding my head. That made me happy. 😃🔥
ZZ Top is one of my husband's favorite band. I wasnt a fan of their songs on the 80s but like them now.
Dusty Hill and Frank Beard are from Dallas and Billy Gibbons from Houston! Don’t forget our Stevie Ray Vaughan from Dallas also! Have a blessed day!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of ZZ Top's best love songs ❤❤
According to Billy, this was Dusty's favorite song to sing (RIP Dusty) At the end of all their live shows the band plays this live and cuts in the voice of Dusty from his last performance ever. Class act!
They are just the definition of badass!! 🎸🎵🎸
When they first started out, they had a Concert at a small town dive and only one guy wandered in. They played the whole set anyway and that guy stayed in touch for years!
