Thanks, your Landscape and HLOD videos are great! This is much better than reading Unreal Documentation, which sometimes can be a bit unclear. I hope you make more videos about other Unreal Systems in the future.
Hi, I have created HLODs, and they work very well in the editor. I have now packaged my game for testing. Unfortunately, the HLODs do not work there. More specifically, the entire map is loaded as if there were no HLODs. Do you have an idea what this could be related to?🙏
Absolutely awesome! Thank You so much for your effort and great explanation! I have a 16x16km Landscape with pretty dense forests.. it runs pretty good but the loading time is why i have to make hlods for the trees. I will give it a try tomorrow. I'm using Imposter as the last LOD for my trees. The trees are generated inside UE with the PCG Plugin. I wonder how the workflow could be if i want to make new imposters for tree clusters and how to set it up inside unreal .. XD .. did you allready test it or do you have an idea how the workflow could be? :-)
I recommend to set it up outside of unreal if you can, if you're having difficulty getting the data outside of unreal you could also try the actor merging tools
i cant seem to make hlod layers work for multiple. Seems like if i set default hlod layer and the index 0 hlod layer.. i can build that... but if i try to have a 2nd index for hlod layer or even a 2nd hlod setup... it simply wont build the 2nd one. Gives me a bunch of warnigns about invalid hlod layer. Or if its a seperate hlod setup.. no warning but just doesnt build my 2ndary hlod layer
When I try to build HLOD's it always ends up failing and I've found out that I need to build the World Partition Minimap first. When I try to do that it gets to 100% but then I get a message saying "Build failed", do you know what the problem could be? I'm not running out of gpu memory or anything.
I would suggest checking the Log to see if theres anymore info there, or to try to use the commandlet and try building it like that, also double check that all HLOD layers you are trying to bake are set up in the world settings like I show in the video
Since the level is so simple they're won't be any significant performance improvements in this example. If you want to take a look at a project with proper HLODs setup I'd suggest taking a look at the city sample project from unreal. It will be much better than what I'd have come up with :)
Hey, if you mean how to setup a proper landscape in Unreal, my previous tutorial on my channel will cover it. If you mean on how to create the heightmap, It was done in Houdini, Its also possible to do in GAEA, Blender, Or worldcreator, (and many other programs/ ways). There are already a lot of good tutorials on youtube on ways to make a nice landscape. If there is something specific I can help you with I'm happy to hear it
Thanks dude. This is waay better than Epic's Documentation.

Thanks! I'll do my best to upload tutorials, hopefully more often 😄

can you show how to make the terrain?

@ just the exact map you’re showing in this video
@ that would be excellent
@@LOL1423derp92 I put A link to the heightmap in the description 👍
Gaea 2 from quadspinner is for you. Great tool to make terrain for free
Would you be at all available for me to pick your brain on this topic? Im really struggling ot get the hang of it .
Is there something specific I can help you with?
@@callofthemountain Yeah just would be awesome to talk with you on discord or something
