    Hey everyone who is following this video and also using different maps from Gaea to import into UE, you might notice a problem.. when importing some detail map or ocean map the place where the transition takes place would be unfilled. To fix this issue you need to use LB Weight Blend instead of LB Height Blend in the Landscape Layer Blend node in your landscape material.

    Just one note, regarding the displacement: set the Magnitude to 0.1 in the default material , duplicate the Blend intensity and Roughnes, plug them in the Displacement slot of the material and use the two scalar parameters (7:40 in your tutorial) to adjust the properties. I've made them as separate parameters, so I have more control. It's just and added function I've made on my own material, using your technique. And, by the way, THANKS! Big time! I've been struggling for almost a week to find a good, simple, efficient and, in the meantime, complex landscape material. This tutorial helped me build my own, and, I may be bragging, but it is better than all I've tried so far. THANK YOU and keep up the good work!

      How are you enabling displacement with this setup? I've followed many tuts but it doesnt appear to work for me. Im on 5.3.2

      Not sure how, I can barely keep up as he just clicks places and does shit and You constantly have to back up over and over and try to see what he is doing.

    "1+click" creates a scalar, "2+click" creates a 2-vector, etc
    so to quickly add 4-vector node just do "4+click" and you'd get 4-vector.
    Also on the same note when you right click on graph editor and contect menu shows up type "*", "/", "+" "-" to get multiply, divide, add, substract, etc
    Speeds things up quite a bit

    appreciate this. It's better to build from scratch then to use a complicated pre-built solution such as Unreal Sensei's master landscape material, which likely has functionality you don't need

    You have so much knowledge on key aspects of unreal for virtual production. I'm currently in my first year of a degree working on live visual design for our production parks VP studio. I was curious if you were ever planning on releasing an online course or masterclass on unreal engine in virtual production as for me personally it would massively help my growth and understanding 🙂

    Great video! One feedback is the resolution is quite low from a 1080p monitor, its hard to read, i guess you use either 4k or 8k monitor which makes the interface smaller so thats why.

    Thanks for the tutorial, some nice tips in there. Does Nanite landscape tessellation work in a packaged build for you? I tried a lot of things out to get it to work with nanite but when in a packaged build the landscape just gets broken into triangles with no tessellation. Standalone mode works fine though.

    • @DallasDrap
      @DallasDrap  8 місяців тому

      I havent tried it with packaging yet tbh, however i do know that in 5.3 its more of an experimental feature. I think i saw somewhere with 5.4 coming out early next year that it will be more stable so fingers crossed that works!

    First of all, thank you for the tutorial, it's great.
    But there is a problem, when you record it in the format of your screen, then when you play it the text in the tutorial does not look good, many times what you show on the screen cannot be read, I would recommend you record the tutorials in normal format and not in 21:9. It often makes it difficult to see what you are explaining. Thanks again.

    great neat video, thanks for sharing
    just one question is that why you chose ARD for texture_object to connect to the Texture_variation? why didn't you chose albedo or the normal?. Also still didn't understand the last vector4 you connected in the texture_variation node

    @DallasDrap Does Spline grass exclusion trick works in 5.4.2 version? I have not able to reproduce it, it just have no effect on splines, grass present on it. Repeated several times, done it precicely. It would be nice to have this feature to work, I need to know is the problem is me or something else?

      Do you have a snip of your graph?

    • @DallasDrap
      @DallasDrap  8 місяців тому +1

      Could be a few things, for starters make sure that what's going into your landscape layers are "MakeMaterialAttributes" or if you chose the Material Function route, make sure the MakeMaterialAttribute node is plugged into the output and the output is plugged into the layer blend.
      When we reduce the material output to that single pin, if you for example plug in just 3 Albedo maps into the landscape layer blend, its not going to know how to read that, so when its just the 1 pin it needs to be a material attribute node going into it, otherwise you can keep the material output node extended and plug in the individual base color, normal maps and all that stuff, but that way in my opinion gets a bit confusing and combersome which is why i didnt show it :P hope this helps!

    hi! thx for the content! good video! and nice how organized u are with the workflow :)
    one question though, the height blending transition seems very weak.. almost like its a linear transition, is there a way to make it more clear? (even with all nodes u used, like intensity, contrast etc..). Another video I checked which the heightblending results were good was here: ua-cam.com/video/gmN_oMbl2ZE/v-deo.html but the guy uses a very confusing process , yours is definitely more organized :)

    Why do the colours always look grey and muted? I think the same colour grading brain rot that infected the minds of DPs in Hollywood nearly two decades ago has evidently seeped into the minds of game developers as well. I'm sick of infantile anime wankfests and their toxic neon colours, and I'm sick of the grey-brown-yellow look endemic to UE5. It's so depressing to look at. It makes me feel ill. Why does UE5 have this opaque, matte aesthetic? It looks like ugly log footage from digital cameras. Lumen bleaches everything it touches, and I hate bloom.
