Dear Sir, My truck camper's entire propane system went down. I watched several youtube videos suggesting I take this apart and replace that, and then I watched you. My problem was so easily solved because of your advice. Thank you very much. You saved me a ton of labor and money.
This is the 1st i have heard this, and i have to say this gentleman just save my new grill from being thrown in the yard and being put out of its misery.took 1 minute to fix.thank you so much!
The guy in this video is the best!!!! Not only did he have "the fix", but he had "the why" this is happening. Really, really good info, and he presented in a clear manner and he got right to the point.
Your video saved me at least a few hundreds on a new bbq. The comment "turn the valve open painfully slow for the first quarter turn" was the solution in fixing the low flow issue of my bbq. Thanks!
Yep! I've been bleeding my line every time I shut down the grill. It seamed like the logical thing to do. Now I need to reset, and do the correct shutdown procedure from now on. Thank you. Well done.
It is great to see a real pro explain this. I'm incredibly grateful for your detailed explanation. Solved my low pressure problem and now it won't happen again. Thank you!
Amazing! Last night, I ran out of propane while pre-heating my grill. Swapped the spare and nothing. Thought it was the weather (snowstorm) and brought the tank inside to warm. Even tried a hair dryer on low. Nothing! Today, even though the grill was covered in 8 inches of snow overnight, your fix solved the problem. Can't believe I never heard of this before. Many thanks Mr. Dixon.
OMG. You just saved my dinner while camping! I was cursing, stressing, worried what we would do for dinner. And bam! Cooking with fire again! Thank you!
Good grief! You are a life saver! I've been putting off 'fixing' my BBQ for 6 months now, thinking it was going to be a 4 hour intense project of looking for leaking lines and blockages, disassembling and then maybe giving up and getting a new BBQ. In about 90 seconds I tried the regulator reset...and opened the valve s l o w l y this time. BINGO! Full flames are back baby! THANK YOU!
I threw out my old regulator and hose when I saw it had cracks all over the hose . Now it went from yellow and orange flames to blue like it is supposed to have . Thanks for the video and information on resetting the regulator , Weber Grills had the same information on resetting the regulator in the included manual , too many people don't read the instruction manual and wonder why they have problems . I learned after trying to assemble a 4 burner gas grill with my buddy , we were drinking beer and decided to put it together . 😄 Finally had to disassemble it and read the instructions and get it together properly ! 😂👍
Thank you Duff. Watched three other videos previously. None of their advice worked. This worked ... it's my 20th wedding anniversary and I needed my grill. Thanks for helping it to happen.
Thanks! This happened for the first time when I changed the tank, after 5 years and many tank changes. Sometimes I "burped" it but never opened the valve very slowly as you directed her but no problem until today, and your advice worked like a charm!
This is excellent Duff!! I have thrown out many a good propane hose believing the regulator was the problem. I strongly suggest the manufacturers should put a note on each hose to instruct possible problems of low pressure and the solution. Keep up the great work Duff
Cooking the world's best grilled chicken tonight, when I had to change the tank. Second tank made only minimum flame (200 degrees F), and sent me to research cleaning my venturi tubes, where to buy a cleaning brush, etc. Luckily, I found your AWESOME video, and the process worked in seconds!!! And I didn't have to finish my chicken in the oven! THANK YOU!
Thank you Mr. Dixon--- the issue is truly vexing, and for those of us who purchase used propane equipment WITHOUT INSTRUCTIONS, the low flow issue is turns a cookout into a truly frustrating experience. I was prepared to purchase a new table top Weber grill, and then I fortunately found your youtube presentation. Weber corporation should make your video REQUIRED viewing. Very gratefully, James
This video is very well done. It had a thorough explanation of the system function, and it had the two steps required to minimize triggering the "low flow" function. Open the valve "painfully slow" and leave the low pressure section of the hose full of gas.
You are awesome. Almost went to lows and got a new regulator. Did exactly what you recommended and my stove works again. I love you tube. My new religion:)
wife wanted to buy new bbq ,i said give me a try at it,after cleaning and new burners it did not work over 300 ,ready to give up I watched your vid now im a hero thx a lot
just what I needed. I've had this happen many times over the years and by sheer luck of taking the tank on and off finally got it working. Now I know the issue. Something worth noting. I live someplace that gets cold in the winter months and this issue seems worse in cold months. Meaning I think it takes longer for that "Slam" valve to open again when it is 10 degrees outside. I can say this issue is common when people change tanks because they generally let there LP run out, and just pull the old tank off and try to reignite the new tank without all the turning off of burners.
You sir are my hero. I'd watched numerous videos and tried numerous times to fix the low flow problem but this is the only one that worked for me. I was about to throw my 9 month old weber spirit in the trash!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate this information! Finally an explanation that makes sense logically so I can remember -- fast flow cutoff safety valve.
omfg this is what I've been looking for. So many times: camping out in the woods, at mom's house with company over, the whole thing. Now will it work as you described... I hope so!
Thank you ! I’ve been telling people in our BBQ group and it has been helping a lot of people to get back to grilling again . Thank you for the Video . Weber Grills even says the same thing but it isn’t a video !
Thank you so much, trying to cook for a graduation party and stove acted up. Tried several tanks and issued never changed. Luckily we checked this first before buying a new one. You brought magic to our cooking. Much thank you for sharing this information with us.
Common since prevailed .I connected regulator 1/4 turn the gas tank as instructed and I am back to full flame, Thank you ,almost started a major disassemble project
A few years ago, my grill would shut off completely. Finally I got someone who told me to do the valves in the order you specify. Voila! Never had a problem since!
Hay,it worked. Thanks! I put a new tank of PP on grill yesterday and could not get the gas to work.I got up today and did what you said and it worked. Thanks a million.
Thank you. I'm have an issue and I thought it was water from rain in the grill. I'll give this a try. Just came back in and yep, it's working just fine now. I've got a small portable Coleman grill because it's only my wife and I. the valve is different on the adaptor but the idea definitely worked. Thanks
great information....got a propane BBQ after so many years of using NG and didn't realize the regulators have built it shut off valves. Didn't realize it was so complicated. Thanks for the information
Great video, thanks for all the information. Best UA-cam video I've seen in a long while. He doesn't go on and on about likes, subscribe and useless information!
Thanks for explaining both the problem and the solution. My issue has been on a propane space heater. Nothing to shut off on the heater itself. But opening the tank valve "painfully slowly" at first, until hearing the faint click inside the regulator, has solved the low-heat issue. Cheers!
I quit on my grill 2 years ago. Never even tried it last year. Perhaps I’ve been doing it wrong all along. Been closing the tank valve first as a way to be sure it’s off and I don’t forget it. I’ll try it this way soon as it’s grilling weather outside around here.
in the U.S. {at least) the propane tank itself has an excess flow valve as well. You can hear the ball bearing 'click'. Shut everything down, and maybe jostle the tank, try again.
Note: This fast-turn-on is even more apt to cause low flame when it’s hot outside. Never a problem at breakfast. Frequent problem at dinner in Dallas under the August sun.
Isn''t this video awesome? I've got it accidentally bookmarked and I keep seeing it helping... Got me all hip to a situation that was gonna be bad without the answer too!
Thank you had this issue the other night with my Blackstone. Was in a hurry and spun the tank valve way too fast. Thought the line was clogged but now I know what happened and why.
Thanks to progress we now have LP tanks that consistently leak, due to dry rotted rubber seals and deformed/cracked plastic nuts, as well as "low flow" problems where we incorporate a feature that turns a reliable device into a nuisance so in the event of a leak, its just a slower leak as opposed to a fast leak??
Great and helpful video. This happened to me when I changed propane tank. I thought I might have to get a new BBQ before I saw this video. I did what he said and my BBQ now works perfectly. Thanks.
Thanks, Duff. What happened was I left the tank on the last time I used the propane grill, and it tripped the OPD. I had no idea what an OPD is until I found your video. Bingo. Problem solved. Thank you so much.
An OPD is an Overfill Protection Device. That is not what this video is about. The OPD is inside the propane tank, not the regulator. The OPD is built into the propane tank valve to prevent overfilling the tank when it is refilled. The safety feature he is referring to in the video is a valve inside the regulator that prevents high volumes of gas from leaking further down the line.
Great explanation but it would have been better still to have demonstrated this by attaching the regulator to the tank and then doing the slow quarter turn followed by turning the tank knob open at regular speed. The Weber web site explained this in a video and it was a great help.
thanks for posting,HERE'S MY SIGN!.I was one of the one percent.i had a totally full twenty pound tank,i did every thing just the way you said,i did it three times still no gas flow.I put in my head the'' jeopardy'' thing song .get a half gallon pan of hot water ,unscrew the regulator from the tank put the regulator in a plastic baggy set the bag in the hot water[just so no water can get the regulator wet] for one minute.remove regulator from water/baggie reattach regulator to bottle ,crack open bottle ever so gently like you say.i opened up the knob on the grill and could hear the GAS ! I hit the spark button and fired up the grill! thank you thank you again. P.S. THE LIQUID LP GAS MUST HAVE HAD JUST ENOUGH MOISTURE TO PLUG THE LINE. GO PACKERS!
OMG! Who knows how many years I’ve wondered about this... probably the same number of years since they introduced this style of regulator. I was just about to take the fuel system of my grill apart... Thank you!
Thanks it helped me...my bbq propane tank regulator was frozen all the time and no flow in burner..then I tilt tank then it works nut still freezes regulator..but I try your way you told..it works fine no need to tilt and not freezing..thanks alot again
Don't you think the morons that manufacture and sell LP appliances should do more to spread this message? Apparently they like nuisance calls to customer service and people returning "defective" products. Thanks for the great video. And here I thought I knew everything. :)
Who's here because you're on your 5th video on this subject and none of the previous videos got your grill working?
Dear Sir,

I replaced 2 regulators back in the day at different times before i saw this a few years ago. Why doesnt anyone know this??! Thank you again sir!!
Good grief! You are a life saver! 8 years after, and I watch this just now. It's info help me with this same problem I had with my BBQ. TY

That is exactly what was going on with mine. I was shopping for a rebuilding kit. When I ran across your video, THANK YOU SO MUCH !
Thank you Duff. Watched three other videos previously. None of their advice worked. This worked ... it's my 20th wedding anniversary and I needed my grill. Thanks for helping it to happen.
I have sent this video to our entire Boy Scout troop. Thank you!
May want to include there’s a excess flow valve built into the opd valve as well
Worked like a charm. Hadn't realized the bleeding of the lines was the "old" way. Thanks for the info, saved my night.
Thanks! This happened for the first time when I changed the tank, after 5 years and many tank changes. Sometimes I "burped" it but never opened the valve very slowly as you directed her but no problem until today, and your advice worked like a charm!

That has to be the BEST explanation I've seen on Regulators. Thank you
Thanks for the education and fix No Gimmicks or extras just what we need know to go get it up and running. you’re awesome dude. Thankyou
You saved my dinner 8 years later thank you!!
At this time you are a voice from the past. Best explanation EVER now I can learn to cook on a grill.
This video is very well done. It had a thorough explanation of the system function, and it had the two steps required to minimize triggering the "low flow" function. Open the valve "painfully slow" and leave the low pressure section of the hose full of gas.
This happened last night. I did not google grills are how to fix issue but this was on my feed this morning. They are watching!
You are awesome. Almost went to lows and got a new regulator. Did exactly what you recommended and my stove works again. I love you tube. My new religion:)

THANK YOU!!
This absolutely worked!!! I would not have believed it if I hadn't done it my self!!
I was having this problem this morning and my tank was full I followed your steps and boom back to normal. Thanks
This video saved me from returning a new grill to Lowes. Thanks!!
Wow, I can't believe I didn't know about this all these years. It worked for me tonight. Thanks!
Thanks! I was about ready to take everything apart and start replacing parts - tried this... all good now. Thanks again.
Wished I had seen this 3 years ago. Great explanation on the workings of the regulator. You taught this old dog a new trick. Thanks!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate this information! Finally an explanation that makes sense logically so I can remember -- fast flow cutoff safety valve.

Excellent explanation. I knew this could happen, but never was told how to reset it. Thank You. I like the cut-away of the tank to.
God bless you man! Your excellent video got the gas working in my motorhome on a cold winter night. Thanks!
Excellent instructions! Fixed my problem of having the burners on when I opened the tank!
Thanks for the tutorial. Fixed my problem in a minute!
70 anos never knew but never had problem either. Used to do tank off before grill/stove etc. going to follow your recommendation thanks
Thank you, follow his instructions the problem went away. Never know about the first quarter turn. Worked for me! Thanks
great information....got a propane BBQ after so many years of using NG and didn't realize the regulators have built it shut off valves. Didn't realize it was so complicated. Thanks for the information
Another thank you !!! It worked I replaced two tanks and just about to purchase a new hose with a regulator. Perfect !!!
Steps worked. And the side comment about making sure side burner was off made the difference compared to other videos.
Thanks for this excellent educational video. I did not know any of this information. Carry On Sir!
Great video, thanks for all the information.
Best UA-cam video I've seen in a long while. He doesn't go on and on about likes, subscribe and useless information!
Just followed your steps...THANKS!! You saved my dinner!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to explain. With his knowledge, i was able to work through my BBQ low flame problem.
great work Duff easy instructions rectified my low-flow!
Thanks for explaining both the problem and the solution. My issue has been on a propane space heater. Nothing to shut off on the heater itself. But opening the tank valve "painfully slowly" at first, until hearing the faint click inside the regulator, has solved the low-heat issue. Cheers!
Thanks so much for saving me $20 and a trip across town to buy a new regulator line!

Thanks for the information had an issue with my propane fire pit low flame after a short period with a full tank problem solved
Thank you so very much it worked. I didn’t have to disconnect anything you are a life saver.
Thanks for the video. I just saved about $35 and a trip to the store!!
Note: This fast-turn-on is even more apt to cause low flame when it’s hot outside. Never a problem at breakfast. Frequent problem at dinner in Dallas under the August sun.
Thank you for this. Propane running our main cooking range. Couldn't understand why it would not burn when I changed bottle in our new house.
Thank you for sharing: Fixed the problem and solved a dispute.
Isn''t this video awesome? I've got it accidentally bookmarked and I keep seeing it helping... Got me all hip to a situation that was gonna be bad without the answer too!
Worked like a charm! Excellent explanation!
Thank you had this issue the other night with my Blackstone. Was in a hurry and spun the tank valve way too fast. Thought the line was clogged but now I know what happened and why.

brilliant video he explains very clearly the safety mechanism of propane gas tanks...
Great explanation but it would have been better still to have demonstrated this by attaching the regulator to the tank and then doing the slow quarter turn followed by turning the tank knob open at regular speed. The Weber web site explained this in a video and it was a great help.
Definitely helpful.. wondered why I thought the tank was empty but it was always still half full.
You are telling the truth sir. Great job.
thanks for posting,HERE'S MY SIGN!.I was one of the one percent.i had a totally full twenty pound tank,i did every thing just the way you said,i did it three times still no gas flow.I put in my head the'' jeopardy'' thing song .get a half gallon pan of hot water ,unscrew the regulator from the tank put the regulator in a plastic baggy set the bag in the hot water[just so no water can get the regulator wet] for one minute.remove regulator from water/baggie reattach regulator to bottle ,crack open bottle ever so gently like you say.i opened up the knob on the grill and could hear the GAS ! I did a propane exchange. That didn’t fix it. I watched your video. That fixed it! Thanx!
Glad I clicked on this video first before other that were suggesting to clean the entire. System. First try and it was back to normal! 🙌🙌🙌
Awesome video. I tripped it after replacing a VERY old grill & turning off the gas from the tank instead of the appliance. Back to grilling!
Thank you sir! You saved my reputation at the family barbecue.
Thank you for the detailed explanation!
OMG! Who knows how many years I’ve wondered about this... probably the same number of years since they introduced this style of regulator. I was just about to take the fuel system of my grill apart... Thank you!
Thanks, Worked like a charm! We're cooking with gas now!

Thank you! Your fix worked!
You are a great communicator. Thank you. Well made video. You talk a little bit like Jeff Goldblum (SP)
I thought that too!
Thank you
Don't you think the morons that manufacture and sell LP appliances should do more to spread this message? Apparently they like nuisance calls to customer service and people returning "defective" products. Thanks for the great video. And here I thought I knew everything. :)
Weber says it in the owner’s manual . But , people are too lazy to read through it ! 😊
Thanks you just saved me some money.... now I can cook my burgers outside tonight..!!!
Thank you Jeff Goldblum...I didn’t know you were selling propane and propane accessories!
Thank you. So very helpful. Opening the line up very slowly worked. I can now grill again :-)
