I'm a licensed UA-cam watcher. :)
I’m certified as well😂❤
I love how this young kid with the backwards baseball cap is so knowledgeable and articulate. Awesome video dude!
you mean the douche bag son reading a script some intern wrote?
His is reading a script....just saying...but well done.
Wow this young man did an insane job purveying this information.
Kudos PEX Universe, this video is informative and well done. You covered a lot of material and made the topic interesting (that’s not easy to do). I’m a certified gas technician and a college instructor, I would definitely share this with my class!
Thank you!
If I was licensed or extremely knowledgeable I wouldn't be here looking at you tube videos about regulator.
😂
You could be a gas technician student dummy !
Danger 😂
But every knowledgeable person was once less knowledgeable.
Sometimes you can smell some gas coming from the regulator. Is it dangerous? is there any way for a spark or lighter able to light that small amount of gas escaping and catching the whole line? Thanks
Can you mess up a regulator if it is subjected to pressure at the output port?
So in the case of Propane, which has a regulator at the tank is the appliance regulator simply a backup?
Educational. Good job young man
great info tnX
i have a question thou does regulators also stop outlet till pressure is built inside of it if inlet pressure is low lets say due to cold & overuse in winter? if not which tools can do this
tnx for help in advance
I just checked with a local propane supplier. I need two regulators, one at the 500 gal tank and one at the house, the only difference I can see is outlets, 1 has 1/4 “ and 3/4 inch the other has 3/4 inch. They are in the neighborhood of 50-80 buck each. I was quoted $583.00 to remove the old and install the new. These are zero adjustment valves, the only other thing is check for leaks and see that my furnace works. I’ll pass and do it myself
I’m in the same boat as you! And the gas supplier hasn’t ever checked my regulators going into my house for my furnace or my stand by generator! I was servicing the generator and noticed some splitting on the diaphragm and tested it and it was 2 small leaks! No idea how long this has been going on. I have done gas lines before so I’m going to do the replacements myself and correct a few things the lp provider did wrong on my original installation. $$ pd and a messed up job 😨
@@richardrumplik7023 Many of these "suppliers" are of NO use about what you are talking about, they want to be so secretive about the equipment etc, THUS WHY I am here
I bought the 325-3l and installed it but when I turn the screw left or right i see no difference in the fire pressure any reason why i have install for outdoor 2 eye cooking unit bough from basspro
I have the Maxtitol 35-L want to go from 1 1/4 high pressure to 7WC for a portable genset. My regulator as the vent limiter.
Do I need the Maxitrol 3/8" NPT Connection Vent Protector for 325-5 and 325-5L.
Smart young man. Good presentation skills.
Thank you kindly!
I have purchased a 120 lb. propane tank for my house stove. Was looking for information on what regulator to use.
Very informative video. What type of gas regulator if you want to convert a generator from propane to natural gas please ?
are regulators with vent limiters allowed to be installed in attic space?
Where is this link for the calculator? At 3:30 i can not understand what he says and i dont see any calculators in the links to pex universe. Im having a hard time finding what LP regulator i need. 100lb tank to supply a 60000 btu converted hanging shop heater. lots of dead ends. I have a 1 inch black pipe stubbed out and capped.
What happens if Diaphragm has leak - just happened to me. I know the vent will leak gas, but what does the poppet do? Am a allowing more pressure to the low pressure side or does the poppet get closed and little gas is getting through?
Great job. Can one use say a gas cooker WITHOUT a regulator ? Thanks
Will a 1st stage regulator always be painted red?
Thanks
Nice job man very informational!
Halo I have one question about high pressure gase Why is come water with Gase when we used Gase in kitchen equipments and Gase store a little fare with kitchen I think one kilometer
You still have no answer. Please re-write your question.
My house has no regulator on it. Only had 1 regulator at tank. It was on the 3/4" pipe going underground to my house. Propane company took it when they picked up there tank. I wanted to own my own tank so I bought one. What kind of regulator would it have been? A 1st stage or a second stage?
I have the same question
You did a pretty good job of explaining your maxitrol regulators but I'd like to go over a few things you may have failed to mention.#1 if a vent limiter is used the regulator must be mounted horizontal ( this is required so the vent limiter BB stays in its standby seat).#2 you should have probably want into a little more depth on sizing the regulator and piping, like total load BTUs ( cubic feet per hour) and number of appliances contributing to the total BTU load ( there is a rating difference between, 1 Appliance, let us say at 300,000 BTUs & 3 appliances at 300,000 BTUs total).#3 regulator can vent anytime the Downstream pressure exceed the manufacturer's set point but there is more things than just a ruptured diaphragm that can cause this ( dirt between the seat and orifice, imperfection or tear in the seat & ect). Again you did a pretty good job in your presentation, probably better than most supply houses could do, keep those videos coming.
PS, you may want to lose the cap on backwards look and buy a polo shirt with the company logo to gain a little more respect in your industry. I know it should not make a difference but it does.
Thanks for the feedback! Those are all great points that I probably should have covered, I'll try being more thorough in the future!
In relation to #1 I was trying to avoid going too in depth on installation as I didn't want anyone to take this video as a definitive guide for something so potentially dangerous. Still you're absolutely right about that point!
@@PEXUniverse , I've been in the gas industry for 35 years and you are absolutely correct about limiting your liability and referring to manufacturer's specifications , instructions and the trade men's qualifications.
@@PEXUniverse , I been itching to ask, are you two brothers ?
We are not, just very similar looks. I coulda made the mistake myself :)
thanks for the info, but young people don't wanna wear boring clothes to work anymore. i actually respect him more actually. own your own business/ have a cool boss? wear whatever the heck you want, i say! change the world, not yourself.
I want to know more about gas regulators I'm using rotors mouldings using gas but I don't know what's is about regulator about I'm using red color regulator please advise.
Nice job kid !
Great video. I'm definitely going to read up and watch more videos before I attempt my outdoor generator project.
Thanks.
well expolained
My attic sometimes smells like natural gas. I called the gas company and they said gas was leaking from the regulator vent. Should I be concerned about this or is this normal?
@@crand20033 yes no leak should be detected. This may need someone that has a proper leak detector
I'm using 64 Fisher regulator could you advise
Can I remove the vent limiter and just wrap the vent with aluminum and poke a hole through it?
Of course you can, you can also jump into a locked bull pen with sow pheromones dripping from the seat of your pants, however neither is recommended. This is part of living free though brother, to each his own. May I suggest of you're living a life on a razors edge, get a loved one trained in videography, self injury has always been an income generator, but self mutilation can live on forever! It's best to insure a loved one gets to capitalize on the best or your worst days!
Pretty helpful 👍👍👍
Happy we could help!
bro i really need some help here.
i have 5 laundry dryers (15kg load type) ( manufacturer recommends just need small regulator)
But my Gas seller recommends using a Big regulator to supply all of of them but then each of the machine will have its smaller regulator to contain the flow. ( this cost alot)
another gas seller suggest me to just install 1 medium size regulator and then it can regulator all 5 dryer.
anyone here can help me?
Good video
I am new to gas regulators and here are newbie's questions. If a gas regulator's function is to reduce gas pressure does it mean it reduces the amount of gas pass through? if so can I just use a ball shut off valve and adjust to the desired amount of gas needed?
no
Ball shut-off are consider on or off. A needle valve shut-off is used to control flow.
To Bob y, Bob if the young man had his shirt off with a pierced nipple I might agree, however a baseball cap backwards? Give it a rest, I’m 67 and hats off to the young man who is opting for a trade, the trades are so short of good help we don’t need you chasing young people away. And for those young people who wear a company uniform good on you also. I want a skilled worker not someone who only looks the part.
I need help. My stove dosent work when it gets cold outside. I switched the tank and it still don't work. When it gets cold somthing happens and I get no gas at the stove. Has to be the regulator.
It could be the regulator, yes! But there are a lot of possibilities as to why, so we recommend having a professional check it out
My regulator froze up
in the extreme cold. I poured warm water over the regulator for a few seconds and it worked great. Gas was flowing normally after.
Would love to see a vid on replacing an old leaking diaphragm valve (old muller climatrol gas furnace water heater) control valve with 3 sets of 2 wires Thermostat, pilot, and transformer. Got a new Robertshaw valve that is the only one that cross referenced. It has only 1set of 2 wire connections marked as TR & TU! this furnace is old but works great I keep it clean & maintained watching it closely! cannot afford a new heater at this time! has anyone ran into this problem? My regulator is not leaking and still works fine! Original control valve is not available!
Thank you bro!
Can i use a 3kg gass cylinder regulator on a 9kg gass cylinder...i really dont want to buy new regulator.
My only problem with this video are the units used, adding SI units too would help a lot.
No maxtrol link
So true !
Basically spider nests in the vent tube
My dual fuel generator came with a regulator. Does it matter whstbsize propane tank I use?
I have seen some that need a special tool to adjust the pressure; I guess to stop some hick trying to make their bathwater hotter.
The fact you can see him reading off of queue cards in the beginning makes me uncomfortable.
Firm the tank to the stove
LP Propane? So Liquid Propane Propane? lol. Just messing, thanks for the insight.

When talking about gas regulators, please denote natural gas or propane up front as a disclaimer. Other than that, if using PSI, always give the inches of water column! I maybe easy for someone to get distracted and not hear or see both. You said Professional but anyone can watch. Other than that, pull up your britches, get a hair cut & wear your hat straight. Then get a job!! And stay off my lawn!

Is it the regulator that causes your gas stove to fluctuate in flame height? Sometimes row high, and sometimes. it's barely burning. when there's 60 to 80% in the 200 gallon tank I believe it's the regulator. probably cheap China junk I bought at Home Depot. 5 years ago.
For me - it TMI
How are you supposed to be a professional or extremely experienced before working on gas lines without ever working on gas lines.... HAHAHAHAHA
Oh yes, the modern work paradox where you need "x" years of experience to get a job you wouldn't be able to get otherwise. Good luck with that...
It seems to be very confused.
This dude’s vocal fry is unbearable
To wear cap backwards with style you have to be no more than 12 or black.
