People are mad at the obsession on genres - this is NOT YOUR ISSUE! Everything back in the day was hard rock or soft rock.....that was it. You guys are great!

I’m in my 70s and fifty years ago, in the 1970s, no one called any music yacht rock. We called it soft rock. The California sound was the Beach Boys.

Bread had a number of great songs. There was a time when men and women got close to each other, slow dancing. Bread made songs that were perfect for this. I miss those days.🎶🎸

I'm 64 and didn't hear the term "yacht rock" until a couple of years ago.

The best of bread is one of my favorite albums!

  • @erickent3557

Bread is the band hard rockers made fun of with their "friends", but then snuck away to listen and dream of their crushes... amazing band. "Everything I Own" and "If" are a couple more fantastic tracks.

Yacht Rock is a millenial/Gen Z term, which is fine if it works for them, but the boomers were not as obsessed at slotting songs into categories. This was much more radio and marketing types who were looking to capture a

I love Everything I Own and Guitar Man by Bread. I cry every time I hear Everything I Own.

  • @mikeb3835

'The Guitar Man' is another great song by Bread.

  • @paulbeatham6530

I had never heard the term Yacht rock until until recently, maybe the last 10 years. During the 70's, 80's and even 90's it was just called soft rock.

  • @alkronlage5236

Its true, the term Yacht Rock never existed and is a new term. it wasn't west coast it was simply Soft Rock and Bread was the epitome of that music in the 70s.

I'm 62, and the first time I heard "Diary" as a kid, my heart was broken. That song made me realize the fragility of love, but nothing prepares you for real heartbreak.

  • @denisehooke3833

Please jump on the “bread wagon”. My opinion they never made a bad song. I’m in my 70s, old girl from Australia and love watching reactions from young ones to our music.

There is also another genre of rock that most forgot and that is Bubblegum Rock.
