It is indeed very good. If you haven't heard it, you might also like Mikyung Sung's! (The orchestra is a bit indifferent but the bass playing is fantastic.)
Amazing interpretation! Every note, every little subtle detail of bowing, on every instrument is incredibly smooth and rich clear. I love how different every rendition of this piece is too. Every soloist I've seen gives it such a distinct feel it's like listening to a whole new piece every time, and this is easily the best of all the renditions on UA-cam
Wow cleanest clearest recording of this piece on youtube. Props to players and most important recording engineer. Age of condenser mics, mic signature removal and overhead mic placement.
I think this is one of my favorite performances of Bott 2. John's tone concept is molto sostenuto and juicy, and the standing chamber strings are perfect.
Love this instrument as well as cello! Both are full of feelings and melancholy. Congratulations to the soloist and ensamble. Great performance, beautiful sound!!! Thank you!!
bravo friend... bravo.... rarely have I heard it so good... players tend to just power their way through going much too fast or much too slow and leave feeling to the wind... even a concerto should have feeling and emotion in it... very well done... players forget Giovanni was Italian; forget his Italian bravado e fascino; that it should be maschile e bello.... excellent work friend... excellent
really amazing :) Great performance !! final tempo of the first satz is incredible. Slow part is very beautiful.. It's a pleasure to listen Bottesini like this. For future take care for better quality - double bass in not on the front of the path.
Definitely inspiring. Getting ready to amp up for college auditions now, currently fine tuning the Elegy, finishing up the Vanhal and then I’ll be onto this.
amazing performance! i was wondering if you had a score available. I am currently looking for a piece to play, and would love to get this score for me along with a few friends who will be playing the accompaniment.
woah, definitely my favorite rendition of this wonderful piece. not gonna lie, this literally inspired me to play the double bass.

I still adore Mikyung Sung’s, but I very much appreciate the quality and differences in approach of this one.

This is what every bassist needs to strive to be.
This recording showed me the true beauty of this concert and made me to want to perform this at my university. Bravo, bravo and bravo, very beautiful.
