Hahn's interpretation of the music is sensitive, thoughtful and courageous, her technical mastery is complete, and the orchestra keeps up with her both technically and musically. Wonderful!

It's incredible how Hilary and Andres understood that Tchaikovsky was a prolific composer for ballet. The entire performance was incredibly graceful and truly terpsichorean, nothing was rushed just for the sake of demonstrating virtuosity - it was first and foremost presented like dance.
In all her live performances I have always seen her acknowledging her fellow musicians. She must be a dream to play with. I wonder if she still does chamber music cause I would love to see her as part of a small ensemble.
The production level on this video is outstanding. Major props to the team that captured the audio, filmed from all angles, and the editor that it all together who actually knew what they were doing. Always seemed to show the exact perfect tight angle or distant view at exactly the right time. The ultra tight zoom for the harmonics, the play back and forth between the instruments, the big picture view during the full fortississimo.... absolute excellence. Thank you. I truly enjoyed this incredible performance because of your work.
Some of the commentators (not me) think that her hair is a little too much in focus, filmed from the left. I myself just enjoy the focus on her left hand, and her forth finger vibrato and so on. The whole concert, Hillary was making bombastically quiet dynamic choices; which I absolutely loved. She is a genius. But yeah, at one point Hilary was playing the most delicate melody, pianissimo, and he jumped in fortissimo on his arpeggios and I would be like "bruhhh," the entire orchestra is playing piano to match her choice, so all I can hear are your ornamental arpeggios!! She then crescendos up to forte, and ideally, he would have too, but idk if he could've gotten any louder 💀. Immediately after that, the flute came in to take over the arpeggios and was able to match her style perfectly; it was heaven. But yeah this piece is heavy for first clarinet so props to him for an otherwise amazing job. I think sometimes orchestra members, especially winds, can tend to overproject on solos, especially on string solo pieces.
Hilary’s playing is aging like fine wine. Sweet, yet savory. Bold when called for, yet timid. All this while having world-class precision and staying true to the piece. Beautiful.
I can’t believe the audience was so well behaved at the end, just applauding from their seats. I would’ve jumped out of my chair screaming how much I love HH and the conductor and the whole orchestra while ugly crying and applauding until my hands would’ve become crippled. Such an amazing performance. Music is unearthly.
I agree with you. However, European audiences almost never give a standing ovation. But Hilary did get standing ovation for her performance. Watch the string players starting at about 39:00 ... it amounts to a standing ovation from those who truly understand her greatness!
I love the way when she plays it’s 100 pct about the music she’s making. There’s no excess movement. She’s willing the violin to make these sounds. What what amazing music she produces
I literally screamed when I saw this!! I’m so happy that there is a new recording of her Tchaikovsky, although I love the recording of the one with the youth orchestra in Texas! I’ll probably listen to this every day for the next two months or so… This is played SOOOO beautifully!! Love everything about this!!
I gasped very loudly when I saw the upload. The original live stream of this concert had a glitch about 3:30 into the first movement that skipped about 15 seconds. I’ve been waiting to see if they’d upload this so we could hear the concerto unblemished. It’s SO GOOD!
SAME. I saw the vid in my recommended and clicked it faster than I have ever clicked a link before...I have been waiting for Hilary's professional recording of this concerto on youtube for YEARS.
I agree, even I am not the screaming type op person. But in myself my heart was very happy when noticing this publishing of Hilarys best performance of this work.
Größter Respekt an Fr. Hahn, Hrn.
This is Tchaikovsky at his very best. So many other violin concertos fail in comparison because this is cantabile from beginning to end. This is so great you could listen to it 500 times and never tire.
bro really was one and done on his violin concertos but to be honest, if I wrote this, I'd walk away too cuz holy moly man this is some of the best composition ever
Such virtuosity between musician and composer is a truly emotional experience. Undoubtedly all what Tchaikovsky could have ever hoped for! Brilliant...
Such maturity, even at her age -- she ages better than the greatest wines of the world. My god -- what a spectacular interpretation and we're still saying that in her middle years. Crazy...
I came here for Hillary and, yeah, the whole production really blew me away. Was going to watch on my phone for a few minutes and ended up switching to my TV to watch the rest. Just phenomenal.
I swear she gets better with age. She always had perfect technical ability, but in the past several years I’ve heard a new depth of feeling and soul in her playing that shines through.
When you hear her speak about music, she sounds so genuinely enthusiastic about the new things she sees and feels in it. With such a tremendous virtuoso, I can imagine it takes time to squeeze all you can, even from a concerto you've played many times. The love for music must go do deep to keep improving, rather than trying some gimmicks or what another musician did before.
Oh my god, I can`t even! Nobody had a clue how hyped I was for Hilary`s full Tchaikovsky performance on UA-cam. I mean, I`ve been waiting forever for this. And it`s now available. A complete concerto, you say? My life is complete. Massive shoutout to the hr-Sinfonieorchester for dropping this! No more 3-minute teasers, y`all rock! And of course, Hilary absolutely nailed it!
In a world of one violinist she may be the best. But our real world has a very long list in front of her (and I am so happy because of this): Heifetz, Oistrach, Menuhin, Rabin, Milstein, Midori, Perlman, Neveu, Enesco, Gitlis, Vengerov, Kogan, Sitkovetsky Julian... I ran out of ink...
@@Camille-Saint-Saens Hmm... with due respect, she may outpace anyone, but music is not about pace... By the way, how can you produce an opinion about someone dead and without any recording? Please explain.
Wowzah. That's the first time I've heard Hilary play like this. So many new things, and how she and the orchestra were in sync most of the time. The timing is phenomenal. The articulation, accents, musicality, etc. Kudos!
This is perfectionist violin technique by Hilary Hahn, perfect bowing even while moving, perfect intonation and she gets such amazing tonal range and volume from that instrument. So happy to have found this video - thank you to all! Superb orchestra, conducting, video and sound. A masterpiece by all! (from Canada)
In every inch (cm, dm or metre) Hilary here proves what a master she is. This is the best Tschaikovsky Violin Consert I ever heard! It is an honour and a privilege for me/us to be able to listen to this. I am so thankful to her, but also to Andrés and this eminent orchestra!
I never used to be a big fan but this performance completely blew me away. She pays so much attention to details and really plays with the tempo and articulation. And the best thing - the orchestra adapt this. Just listen to 34.34 and then the wind soloists! Incredible.
@@jacobadelman9788 Interesting you mentioned it. I listened to that piece played by Heifetz, didn't really like it for many years. After listening to Hilary's version, it sounded like a totally different piece, with so much more warmth and emotion.
@user-tz3dy7mt9e Of her, to be quite frank. She has a very rich, big sound with a strong vibrato and this just doesnt meet my taste for many pieces. But it does fit the romantic repertoire for sure.
Welcome to our big majority of listeners who are not living at the right place, or has a too long a journey to travel to get a ticket, or cannot travel so far, or cannot even travel. We are the majority of listeners. It is for us Hilary Hahn is playing!
I believe that if Tchaikovsky could hear this interpretation from wherever he is, he would certainly feel fulfilled. This concert seems to have been made for each other, Tchaikovsky-Hahn, representing the perfect symbiosis of unparalleled musicality.
you can see the absolute heaven the conductor is in and the pure smile on his face when hilarys articulation and style of playing matches the dream in his head - its incredible the silent dynamic that is so often overlooked between a conductor and a soloist because it truly makes a world of difference
While watching this video, every few seconds/minutes, I say to myself ‘very interesting things happened here, that must be it, what else can happen now?’ And then something even more interesting is happening yet again, and then again… until the end of the performance… We are truly privileged to have performances like this one available in our fingertips, literally.
Not so much known for the Tchaikovsky VC, Maestro Hilary has been increasing her performances of this piece in recent times. This is a wonderfull performance and look forward to how this piece evolves with Mastro Hilary in the future. Thanks to the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra for making these stunning performances freely available.
Exactly! I've watched/listened to her performance of Bruch Violin Concerto no. 1 (with this same orchestra) probably 50 times here on UA-cam and I get shivers and tears every single time.
incredible!!! how can such a master even become better and better still !!! and as a human she is so normal and funny ! this was like medicine for me today. thx to all musicians and of course to hillary hahn !!!
A high-quality, excellent performance of this piece, featuring Hilary that I have been waiting literally years for. And my god, what a performance. Hilary is more amazing with every passing day. The orchestra was stunning as well. Particularly some of those stand-out wind parts. So clear, and expressive. Anyone who doesn't appreciate what a genius Tchaikovsky was should listen to this, and all will be made clear.
To this day, this is the most thrilling and exciting recording of the Tchaikovsky out there. Hilary Hahn is a gem and wonderfully matched by Frankfurt!
I have loved this concerto since I first heard it in 1965. I have listened to many recordings of it since then. This is, by far, the best performance available on YOU Tube. Hilary Hahn has captured all the emotion that is expressed in this concerto. Many thanks for the prividlidge of listening, .
I have heard many violin concertos over the past 60 years since I started to listen to fine music. I have to say I believe this is about the best of them, and the most demanding on the virtuoso soloist. This gal is superb playing this and kudos to the rest of the orchestra.
I just wanted to say to the artist: thank you! Can I just say to everyone involved from the orchestra to sound production and organisers: thank you! I wanted to say to those responsible for uploading this magnificent piece of music too: thank you!
There’s freshness to her playing in every piece, every performance. It’s like hearing the music for the first time again - she manages to present to us something outside the clichés we’ve gotten so used to. Like 4:5526:1436:27 and many other points, where she really takes the time to demonstrate her own interpretations. Nothing more enjoyable hearing the great soloist be accompanied by such an attentive and talented orchestra.
Violinists consider this to be the most difficult concert to play. In fact Tchaikovski did not listen this concert alive for some time as there was no violinist who dared to play it. Thanks so much for this extraordinary presentation.
Hermoso recordar las tardes en las que mi papá escuchaba la música clásica de estos compositores. Andrés Orozco, me siento orgullosa de ser antioqueña, la música baila en su cuerpo.
Literally the most spectacularly flawless technique, not only in her left hand intonation but in her ridiculously amazing bow control, of all of the greats, imho. not always my favorite performance musically, although never anything to complain about, but she is always I swear like some alien being dropped onto this planet to demonstrate to all of us violinists that it truly is possible to play the instrument measurably perfectly over and over and over and over and over and over
Hilarys treatment of the violin is outstanding; the sound comes out so soft and intimate, still with the inner nerve in it. Also in more flamboyant passages is her playing marvelous! I have never heard this Tchaikovsy Violine Consert played better. So thank you, wonderful Hilary, marvelous orchestra and clever Andrés Orozco-Estrada! The sound uptaking is also fabulous.
I love how she just STABBED those high notes in the crescendos and put the wickedest vibrato on them as well. I'm amazed that dainty bow stands up to the punishment!
The great thing about this video is that you can watch it whenever you need a little relaxation. I will definitely save it to watch over and over again!
Fantasztikus a zenekar is, élén Andrés Orozco vezényletével. Szívből gratulálok.❤❤
One of the best ever performance I never seen thebefore is one of the greatest violin performance by an excellent violinist like Hillary Hahn her technique are out of this world and the sound of the violin she has is a pure and beautiful sound that make your soul transport into a voyage that you never want to stop and keep continuing listen to this marvelous and beautiful music for ever CONGRATULATION HILLARY IN ONE AGAIN THE BEST PERFORMANCES I NEVER SEEN BEFORE IT WAS A PERFECT PERFECT PERFORMANCE BY ONE OF THE FIRST BEST AND MORE THAN THE BEST VIOLINIST IN THE WORLD EXCELLENT EXCELLENT
She has been hitting the gym. She looks so STRONG. I LOVE her playing. you can see the expression in her face and in her eyes. The determination and focus is amazing and one to strive for as an artist. ❤️❤️❤️🎻
Brings tears to my eyes. HH is amazing in every performance honestly. This concerto was the first concert I played in when our local combined university and community orchestra did it in the 1980s and suddenly I understood what a violin could do. I don’t even remember our soloist’s name at the time. It took my breath away and still does every time I hear it. I love the call and return between the winds, doing their countermelody with the soloist, never ceases to make me emotional. Those two flutes are impeccably in tune with each other, as well. They sound like just a single instrument.
hilary Hahn, my life time favorite, although i never watch her live. But her honey tone is so unforgetable. I have watched Modori and Vengerov etc, but still love Hilary Hahn. Can not explain.

There is a very sweet moment at 31:21 where Andres is cueing Hilary's entrance, and even he, the conductor, seems very pleasantly surprised by the gliss in her entrance. I wonder if he was expecting to hear that and it was just better than he heard it in his head, or if it was a bigger surprise to him...
Love that moment too. I think he was cueing her for the orchestra and the motion of his hands sort of convey it as a soft entrance but it also perfectly matched her gliss, which was why he smiled. Almost as if they read each other's mind in that moment.
Miss Hahn is an inspiration to all musicians. I'm a guitar player/teacher and transcribed Bach's Violin Concerto in E major for my guitar class. I referenced her every chance I could during my teaching career. I have been playing viola for 24 of 54 years as a guitarist. I am now working on a violin and playing it in public. Always a pleasure to hear her each and every time.
It’s honestly incredibly difficult to describe to anyone that hasn’t played a stringed instrument how extraordinarily difficult it is to play the way Hillary did at 36:25… Truly, it may sound pretty simple to play the same notes faster and faster, but the level of control over tone, in addition to the dynamics displayed were truly incredible. Makes it probably my favorite part in this whole piece in all honesty.
For Andrés Orozco-Estrada this must be like a hard work-out. And I admire him for beeing so flexile and intuitive in his cooperation with Hilary. Every conductor has his/her own style, and I like Andrés for beeing so much himself in his work with Hilary and this fabulous orchestra. He is a true musician!

Same, I literally gasped when I saw the notif after I woke up
@@ObnoxiousNinja99 OMG FOR REAAALL
I agree, even I am not the screaming type op person. But in myself my heart was very happy when noticing this publishing of Hilarys best performance of this work.
Größter Respekt an Fr. Hahn, Hrn.
Heavens! Makes me wish we hadn’t left Europe.

He only composed one violin concerto.
@@Andrei11t You apparently didn't understand the sentence above. That is what the expression, "one and done" means.
@@hkibak oof, my bad, it's just that i saw the plural form of concerto. Good to know!
Such virtuosity between musician and composer is a truly emotional experience. Undoubtedly all what Tchaikovsky could have ever hoped for! Brilliant...
La he visto crecer!!!
This orchestra is fast becoming my favorite orchestra
I know right? You should listen to them playing Mahler 5 !
Most of my favourite recordings come from this orchestra
Not to mention their fabulous conductor! Andrès is certainly one of the if not the best young conductor out there
Such maturity, even at her age -- she ages better than the greatest wines of the world. My god -- what a spectacular interpretation and we're still saying that in her middle years. Crazy...
My favorite violinist + my favorite conductor + my favorite violin piece = heaven
Love how they enjoy the moment!
Can't believe I get to watch and listen to this performance for free. Thank you so much for sharing
She’s perfect. The best violinist of all time.
oh I think Sarah Chang can give her a run for money...
@@florincoter1988they are all good in there own ways but I think she could even outpace Paganini (even tho he’s dead)

I like Andrés Orozco- Estradas dancing on the podium, he exemplfies what this music is about👍
This performance would have brought tears to Tschiakowsky's eyes..... Magnificent !

Thank you, Ms. Hahn, and to Maestro Orozco-Estrada, and as always thank you to the Frankfurt!
Kudos to the whole Orchestra and to our star soloist Hilary !
I never used to be a big fan but this performance completely blew me away. She pays so much attention to details and really plays with the tempo and articulation. And the best thing - the orchestra adapt this. Just listen to 34.34 and then the wind soloists! Incredible.
The #1 flute, clarinet, oboe and bassoon were all incredible
she's the best. Google Hilary Hahn Chausson Poeme. To me, by far, the greatest piece of music ever written, and she is absolutely superb playing it.
@@jacobadelman9788 Interesting you mentioned it. I listened to that piece played by Heifetz, didn't really like it for many years. After listening to Hilary's version, it sounded like a totally different piece, with so much more warmth and emotion.
on my bucketlist list is to hear Hilary play this live.@@Highlander515
@user-tz3dy7mt9e Of her, to be quite frank. She has a very rich, big sound with a strong vibrato and this just doesnt meet my taste for many pieces. But it does fit the romantic repertoire for sure.
Thank you for making this available to those who cannot attend a live performance. I will listen/watch this many times. Exceptional.
Die Präsenz des hr Sinfonieorchesters mit wunderbaren Konzerten und Künstlern ist einfach großartig! Herzlichen Dank!
love this moment at 31:20 between Hahn and Orozco-Estrada, such masterful conducting throughout to support such a fantastic performance. Bravo!
Yes, I also love this moment. We all do, I hope!
While watching this video, every few seconds/minutes, I say to myself ‘very interesting things happened here, that must be it, what else can happen now?’ And then something even more interesting is happening yet again, and then again… until the end of the performance… We are truly privileged to have performances like this one available in our fingertips, literally.
Je suis completement d'accords.

Merci Hilary pour ces purs instants de bonheur- plénitude partagés, cette interprétation résonnante de votre passion comme toutes les autres ❤

For the first time l hear this Violinist Genius playing this great composition , and it's Amazing!
Love to see her and the orchestra and conductor so connected, smiling at each other throughout!

How does everyone keep from weeping in the presence of such astonishing beauty? I’m in zero control of my tear ducts again and again. Can’t help it
Exactly! I've watched/listened to her performance of Bruch Violin Concerto no. 1 (with this same orchestra) probably 50 times here on UA-cam and I get shivers and tears every single time.
They had the microphones in exactly the right places to record this extraordinary performance. Bravo to all involved!
incredible!!! how can such a master even become better and better still !!! and as a human she is so normal and funny ! this was like medicine for me today. thx to all musicians and of course to hillary hahn !!!
Yeah amazing performance
To this day, this is the most thrilling and exciting recording of the Tchaikovsky out there. Hilary Hahn is a gem and wonderfully matched by Frankfurt!
I have loved this concerto since I first heard it in 1965. I have listened to many recordings of it since then. This is, by far, the best performance available on YOU Tube. Hilary Hahn has captured all the emotion that is expressed in this concerto. Many thanks for the prividlidge of listening,
.
My goodness how could it be better? How?
She is the queen for another great reason because of this. ❤
Conducted by Tchaikovsky ;)
I have heard many violin concertos over the past 60 years since I started to listen to fine music. I have to say I believe this is about the best of them, and the most demanding on the virtuoso soloist.
This gal is superb playing this and kudos to the rest of the orchestra.
The best in the world, possibly ever.....we love you, Hillary.
Like 4:55 26:14 36:27 and many other points, where she really takes the time to demonstrate her own interpretations. Nothing more enjoyable hearing the great soloist be accompanied by such an attentive and talented orchestra.
I dare to say that among the female violinists in the world, nobody can overwhelm Hilary. What a tremendous performance she did!!!

Fantasztikus a zenekar is, élén Andrés Orozco vezényletével. Szívből gratulálok.❤❤
Dont matter how many times i listen to this is great❤

She has been hitting the gym. She looks so STRONG. I LOVE her playing. you can see the expression in her face and in her eyes. The determination and focus is amazing and one to strive for as an artist. ❤️❤️❤️🎻
The BEST. Nothing else to say.
What an experience listening to this beautiful piece played by Hilary Hahn together with the hr-Sinfonieorchester!
She is wonderful. Thank you for making performances like this available.. She is wonderful. Thank you for making performances like this available..

It’s honestly incredibly difficult to describe to anyone that hasn’t played a stringed instrument how extraordinarily difficult it is to play the way Hillary did at 36:25…
Truly, it may sound pretty simple to play the same notes faster and faster, but the level of control over tone, in addition to the dynamics displayed were truly incredible. Makes it probably my favorite part in this whole piece in all honesty.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Madame Hilary Hahn n'est plus seulement la jeune virtuose, elle est une grande dame du violon et une immense musicienne : Dame Hilary Hahn.
Nowadays she is perhaps more of a "grande dame" than a "jeune virtuose" but I myself thinks she get younger and younger in her playing!
I notice now that Andrés in 2021 ended his conract with hr-Sinfonieorchester. I wish him luck in the future!
Hilary i love your playing 💕
This is so beautiful, it makes me cry nearly every time I watch this. Bravo Hilary, Andres and PFRS.
