I once played this with my beloved one for my exams (on double bass). It's nice to hear it again. What a brilliant performance from both of you! And how nice to see the MUsicians in the orchestra enjoying themselves.
Funny you mention how wonderful the violin itself is, I just watched a program about how many governments, museums, etc., across Europe will loan some of the most famous, rare and expensive violins for first chairs and concert use. Needless to say I wondered after seeing and hearing this beautiful violin if it was loaned or if this one belongs to the conductor himself.
I found it! "Vesko Eschkenazy plays the ex-Silverstein Guarneri del Gesú uit 1742, owned by a private patron received on loan via the Concertgebouworkest Foundation." www.concertgebouworkest.nl/en/vesko-eschkenazy-1
Beautiful, a wonderfully romantic rendition of Giovanni Bottesini’s Gran Duo Concertante, Bravo! I think the viola player may have a “crush” on Dominic, Mmm…
Superinstrumentisti nu am cuvinte sa-i caracterizez.
But the original is for piano, violin and bass? However, the violin is sweet and suitable to the concept I wanted to transmit Bottesini. Very well the Bass and Violin. Perfect!!! Congratulations to both!!!!!
Brilliantly! Of all the recordings I have heard, only the Moscow Virtuosi orchestra performed this piece better. It would be nice to indicate the performers (orchestra, conductor and soloists) in the comment to the video.
The woman who plays viola looks so happy. I want to be a musician like her.
Such a pleasure!
agreed!
me too
It's a very special feeling when musicians are playing well together.
The intonation of the soloists is incredible. The best i've heard
right? way better than any recording I've found on Spotify
Rinat Ibragimov and his daughter made a recording 13 years ago. Check it out!

Aww, violist in the back at 8:27 is smiling at those high notes on the double bass. Really enjoying the music xD
Totally noticed that, too. =)
It almost sounds like a woodwind instrument.
But that might just be me :)
wholesome
It's wonderful how the whole orchestra enjoys.
Like mahler or Schongberg...
one of my real favorite pieces. Love Bottesini very much
This is such pristine playing, so full of color. Bravo to all of the musicians!

very nice performance. most people don't know this music was originally written for two double basses !! btw the violinist's violin is excellent.

Vesko Eschkenazy -Amazing Bulgarian violist!!!
Ciliabenschop.
thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece!:-)
It's wonderfull
3:12 the way they look at each other shows they are really enjoying playing this
Magnifique interprétation,
Wonderful! Thank you.
Indeed, originally for two basses: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gran_Duo_Concertante.
Really fantastic performance.Bravissimo!

Just an amazing sound! Beautiful!

I believe this was original for 2 basses and bottesini made the arragement later for violin
Camillo Sivori did the arrangement for violin
The version for violin and bass also has many an added section, and is in my opinion far more interesting as a piece
But the original is for piano, violin and bass?
However, the violin is sweet and suitable to the concept I wanted to transmit Bottesini.
Very well the Bass and Violin. Perfect!!!
Congratulations to both!!!!!
Original is for two basses
Amazing!!
Brilliant! Bravo!
Wonderful!!!
Bravi =beautifully played❤🎉
espectacular!. Botessini Compositor super infravalorado
Fine and justly famous.
Muhteşem!! BRAVO!!!
La bellezza esiste ....
Stupendo... lascia senza parole

BRAVISSIMO !!!
Very good.
Thank You for your infornation, I don't know.
Very interesting!
Très sympathique!
Quel enchantement. Je découvre Giovanni Bottesini né a Crema.
thanks for the info... do you have something to confirm, like a letter or book...
Bravissimo!!!
Simplesmente incrível!!!
Tell me, please, how was made the miking? really exellent !!
This is Sivori's arrangement - I'm guessing he played the fiddle part at its premiere, but maybe not. Who knows?
Brilliantly! Of all the recordings I have heard, only the Moscow Virtuosi orchestra performed this piece better. It would be nice to indicate the performers (orchestra, conductor and soloists) in the comment to the video.
❤
are they use microphone on concert? or not?
what means "miking"?
Bravi.
Please excuse my ignorance, can someone tell me who the soloists are?
using microphones for recording, faire une prise de son... (Google trad)
00:20 what the hell says "Mozart" in the 2nd violin parts?
what are you talking about ?
I have no idea lol but i see what youre talking about
it says Mozart because that's the sheet music for a piece by Mozart that they probably played in that same concert
13:36 it starts the banger if you are looking for that! You can thank me later ;)
13:06 Am I crazy or does someone in the audience sneeze just as Eschkanazy emphasizes the bottom of this run? 😂
Bottesini? il Paganini del contrabbasso!
!!!
I do not mean it so hard, but sometimes its like why, are there no good european violinists anymore?
Asked by a third class local orchestra player, chewing gum while playing a concert, really?
By the way, this is Concertgebow, if you have any idea what it is. Google it
Ohne Dirigent, gibt es etwas Problem!!!
absolut kein Problem
Magnifique

the last note for the bassist was a much more noticeable mistake
Wtf is this? Not Bottesini for sure. I’m laughing my ass off it’s so strange.
John C Reilly looks different here...
Perlman? Oh hahah
Not good :-(
Then what is good? Please educate me.
