After listening to this beautiful performance, I would like to put my bassoon together and start playing. But its in the middle of the night - I have to wait until tomorrow ☺
I had just such a reaction, but I haven't played since the 90s. I think I would have to redo some pads and corks first.
Good that you can play a basoon, beautiful music.
très belle interprétation , je suis admiratif de votre façon de jouer j'adore. l'ayant écouter de nombreuse fois je la redécouvre c'est magnifique. merci
Merci beaucoup! :-)
Let only music rule the world fans & let it sound just this good ❤🎉❤
6:12-6:24 is PERFECTION. The low to high. You play so clearly and clean.
I love the bonus ending bassoon and french horns.
Bravissimo Lady Curti.!! Beutiful playing…among the very best bassoon players.
One of the best interpretations of Hummel. Bravo maestra!!!
Thank you very much for listening and writing this nice comment
What a wonderful playing.
Attraction and popularity of her wonderful and graceful and skilful performance is immeasurable and off the charts
I am only intoxicated with her beautiful performance
were playing this for my local youth symphony, my friend, senior in highschool, is the soloist, insane.
чудесное исполнение очаровательная леди Валерия

👏👌🏻
Vielen Dank fürs Hochladen.
Magnífico 😊
Lindo como sempre Valeria!
Outstanding Valeria!! 👏👏👏🔥
I can tell you really enjoy playing this concerto!
Excellent music work of Hummel. I like to listen to classical melodic music composers and Hummel is one of them. Plus, there was a very good orchestra and a giant bassoonist either. Thanks for uploading.
Perfection!!!! Bravo!!!
The YT computer directed me to this performance of a concerto which I only recognized from recordings on FM radio. Parabens a todos!!! Thanks for posting! All the best from an audience member in metro-Washington,DC😊
Bravissima !
Bravo Valeria 👏
Beautiful! 😊
What.a fine from a composer I don't know very well and a delight in the use of a basson as a solo instrument, most appreciated for the performance.
¡Bravo!
Just delightful.
Brawo!
Amazing performance. Congrats!
Großartig
Wonderfull
Superbe!
Восхитительно!!!!! ❤❤❤
Terrific performance.
Beautiful Valeria. Now I wish I still played so I could steal this for euphonium, too. 😉
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤
Standup bassoon!! Yeeeaahh! The only way this coupd be cooler is with one foot on a stage monitor in metal pose, and boot
C'est vicieux d'écrire un concerto pour cet instrument.
Interesting she wrote a bassoon part to join the orchestral introduction
Hi, thanks for your comment. Just to clarify; I didn't write anything for the first tutti, that is aksed by Hummel in his Manuscript 😌
No, that would be the bass part, traditionally the soloist plays their part or an appropriate part with the orchestra. Some Americans don't do it anymore but many do and most other countries still practice this. It gives the soloist all the time they need to warm up, play along, get in the right head space and double check the reed or set up they are using. She did not write that and it is not interesting.
@ I have performed this challenging concerto several times, and my teacher actually made the world premiere recording of it when it was far less known in the bassoon community. I have also heard it performed dozens of times throughout Europe and the US over the past 40 years. I have never heard any player play this part in the tutti before the solo entry, and it is definitely not written in the part. I have absolutely nothing against it, but it is a highly unusual interpretation choice, and indeed an interesting one.
In fact, I am hard pressed to think of a single example of a concerto soloist on any instrument playing an accompaniement to the tutti introduction before the solo entry. I'm not saying it's wrong, or bad, but highly unusual and indeed most interesting.
There are wrong notes in the oboes (misprints?) bar 42 - listen here at 1:49
The 1st Oboe starts on a high g and holds it into the next bar. Because there is no bassoon playing the chromatic line going down, the oboe sounds silly. May be not the best harmonic transition by Hummel - or a misread by the editor - or just not well balanced between 1st and 2nd Oboe. I would love to have a peek into the score🔎🎶
And now after having listened to that bit 20 times over and over again I got used to it..
Interesting point…
Actually, its just a balance thing, the second oboe isn’t audible at that point, either missed the entrance or is being too careful..
You really know your music to catch that! I'm an amateur trombonist and would never notice that.
I don't know what it is with this latest modish fashion for the soloist to come in before it's their turn to play. Do they think we have no patience at all?
