Great info for first time Gen 1 buyers. We picked up our Gen 3 a couple months ago and decided to keep our high mileage Gen 1. We have owned it since 2014 (it was a loaded 2012 with 24k) and it has ~190k with regular maintenance and several shock rebuilds. I would drive it cross country tomorrow without a single concern.

I have an 11 Platinum with the same drivetrain (6.2) and that mileage . It is like a new truck! Runs perfect, I maintain the fluids and stuff. Very hard to get rid of a vehicle like that. There are no expensive shocks on it .

      Here’s the update:
Overall it’s an amazing truck it’s been super reliable since I bought it with 112,000 miles on it. Biggest things to keep in mind, budget for a good powertrain warranty you should mainly look at the transmission part of that warranty and make sure you’re covered until at least 170k miles my truck has about 150k on it now and is in need of a transmission within the next 10k miles which is mostly due to the previous owner not changing the transmission fluid on it. When you buy the truck make sure that it’s had its oil changed regularly I cannot stress this enough, every 5k is the minimum and if not save yourself the headache in the long run and find a good mechanic that can do a solid pre purchase inspection on it. Shocks is another big ticket item you’ve got to keep in mind and they ain’t cheap (make sure that gets checked out as well). Finally do all the fluid changes I.e (oil change, coolant flush, transmission fluid change and make sure you DO NOT flush the trans fluid, front and rear differential fluid change, flush and replace the brake fluid as well) with regards to the transmission fluid make sure you only drain a little bit at a time so just for example sake say you let out 1/5 quarts each time you do an oil change at 5k miles and fill that 1 quart back up with new fluid. One other thing to note is my rear differential has been making a loud humming noise and has been having a little bit of trouble locking, this is because this truck was a grocery getter and the previous owner never really engaged 4WD or the locking diff on a regular basis so make sure you take it on a nice long 30min drive on the highway. Needless to say it’s an awesome truck, pretty expensive to maintain (I spend about $250 bucks a week in gas alone- these are Texas premium gas prices and I drive about 1500 miles a month) but I wouldn’t trade it for any other truck in the world right now.

I bought my Raptor with 165k and got the guy to sell it to me for 17.5 ... He didn't take care of it at all. I can list so the issues on request.
I drove it to Destin FL. First week of owning. From Houston TX. I needed to see what it could and couldn't do. All suspension was shot amongst other things.
About a few months later I drive it to California, made it with no probs. I have been replacing as much as I can, doing slot of preventative maintenance. Now my truck has 215k miles have been heck and forth from Houston TX to California about 8 times and is had never left my stranded.
    Love my Gen 1 Raptor

How you doing brother I have 6.2 2010 with 127k, I’ve since changed the oil, transmission oil (had a leak I wasn’t aware about , kinda scared on the internal damage it did, but so far can’t complain , however when downshifting in neighborhoods it tends to pull a bit), other than that, differential oil changed, basic tune up, any tips you can spare ? Thank you

@@Mr.Tapia101 hey man doing good thanks!
New plugs, new coil on plugs, new coil wires (mine where very poor condition and pretty much all of them snapped off)
All fluids for sure, even brake and power steering, coolant.
Off the top of my head thats all I can think of. I have a spreadsheet of items that I'm working on

@@Mr.Tapia101 also, that bump in your shifting ... Look into the "Connector Assembly for 2009-2014 Ford F-150 AL3Z7G276D"
Apparently on our transmissions those are a hot fix and are usually out of stock. Also you can look up "driveline slip bump" fordmokoloko made a video on it ... Usually that when you accelerate and it feels like someone bumps you from behind.

I had a Sasquatch Outer Banks and planned on going to a RaptoR around this time. Since you can’t order them and dealers can’t either, I opted for a Roush Gen1 until they make a BRonco. Since you can get the latest Sync/mytouch setup dropped straight into the Gen1 F150’s I think I’ll do that whenever it starts to get stale and I’ll remain set for a while.
